And yes, I too am considering stockpiling essentials and the application for an international driving permit is going in the post soon. There are far worse things than being wrong.

The day will surely come when ‘Mundell’ will become fixed in Scottish history and folklore as a name characterising a person without integrity, of shameless, self-serving, servile treachery and dishonour.
The Tory government knows what is going to happen – but they’re not going to tell the general public, at least not until they have got themselves sorted with everything they will need to get through the consequences of a no deal Brexit. They and the entire British Establishment. All at the taxpayers expense of course.

It’s very hard to believe that we have a government who because of their own actions are seriously talking of and thinking about stockpiling foods and medicines.
This sounds like utter madness and it is utter madness yet even with that, across the UK 47% still want to leave the EU.
If this did come to pass then Armageddon it will surely be because for how long would such a situation remain in place?
I don’t think this will come to pass, surely not even the most rapid Brexiteer would contemplate such a disastrous situation?
I’ll be stocking up anyway, just in case like.
Stockpiling and panic buying of food will be great for the high street and Supermarkets.
Perhaps this is the best idea the Tories can up with to achieve the inflation they’ve been looking for eight years.
It would make more sense if they just looked in the right place: the asset markets are inflated fit to bust.
Which they will.
All this stuff about no deal, and stock-piling, might be to manage our expectations, so when the Tories eventually sign us up to terrible deal, they can present it as a triumph, and a grateful nation will acclaim them as heroes saving us from the big bad EU…

Now suddenly it all falls in to place who in all of our knowledge is not only a self proclaimed expert on all things economic – despite no formal or in formal training – and doesn’t know the price of fish in …. well anywhere really… BUT does know the price and value of Dog Food…..
Someone who would profit immensely in the event of a shortage of Dog Food but would suffer if the EU was able to supply such to the Independent Nation of Scotland who would be part of the EEA or indeed the EU……
Now the motivation against independence makes sense – money!

I am buying in tins, my freezer is stocked, but if no electricity that will be hard to keep.
I have a different problem, my Pug has an eye problem which requires drops twice a day or he will lose his sight. These are also used by humans. They are made in Belgium and having been stuck earlier this year because the manufacturer produces them in certain numbers for their various areas, my Vet could not obtain them. As it turned out I managed with a prescription to get them from the Pharmacy. Now if the Government is stockpiling medicines we can be damned sure the many medicines which are now cross overs for animals will not be available. It looks like I am going to have to see how many I can stockpile safely.

Honestly, these really are numbers which Westminster should not ignore. Almost three quarters in Scotland want to stay in the EU, yet ENGLAND via the ENGLISH parliament, is forcibly removing EU membership from every single Scot. It is truly appalling. It goes against ANY notion of democracy. It is colonialism, pure and simple.
Call the referendum Nicola. Let’s not wait until we are all forced to use that old ‘government issue’ shiny slippy toilet paper again (some here might remember it), once the racist brexit clusterf*ck becomes real.

“Subversives” includes Trotskyists, Communists, Fascists, Welsh and Scottish Nationalists, black or Asian exremists or anarchists.
It does not include Eton-educated Oxbridge toffs who engineered BREXIT and other calamities.

Raymond Snoddy, Newsnight presenter 2004 to 2012 has a piece in the Radio Times in which he highlights the bias of the BBC in giving undue air time to pro Brexit politicians. He discusses the complaint submitted by Lord Adonis against the BBC on this issue. Adonis is arguing that the BBC is breaking the Royal Charter in the way they are presenting a heavily biased reporting of the Brexit issue.
He does not mention the Scottish Referendum and the utterly disgraceful behaviour of the BBC to this day on the issue of Scottish Independence. Scotland does not exist for the Establishment figures. Scotland and her representatives are treated with open contempt in Pariament. We need a more aggressive presence in Parliament and we need to stop playing by Westminster rules. Look at the upswing in SNP membership after the walkout. We need more of this type of response to Westminster contempt.
Spare a thought for the folk that can barely afford their weekly messages, let alone stocking up.

That’ll be 10%, i.e. Ā£60 million for the ScotGov as contrary to opinions, Crossrail spending does attract Barnett but not for the private investment, only for the bit the taxpayers pick up – which includes the tab for going over budget.

8000 MOD personnel we’re told are all brave sojers defending Blighty suffering the indignity of paying a wee bit extra due to being posted to Scotland. At a rough estimate their rank for that level of pay would make them about 1/9 of the total strength. Either someone’s exaggerating for effect or there’s 72,000 armed forces personal in Scotland or there’s a bookkeeping exercise posting them all to Scotland where they get a Scottish Tax code and as such would be eligible to vote in indyref2 if that was a requirement. Certainly a strategic method of packing ballot boxes in other elections and votes.
It’d also be a handy way to assign spending to Scotland that doesn’t actually happen here.
Poor and vulnerable people will be first in line to be hurt by brexit. They have nothing in reserve and live a hand to mouth existence dependent upon the austerity crumbs thrown from societyās table.
tories will be alright, I include Darling and other labour luvies amongst this section of society. They have an over abundance of wealth, so much so they hand it down through generations. Ultimately, they decide who gets what and they draft the stories that justify wealthās distribution!
In a civilised society tories would not exist, part of the vision for an independent Scotland, tories would be extinct!

The first container deliveries I ordered earlier in the year are scheduled for delivery later this week. Confirmation has been received that they are IN country and HAVE passed through Customs. š
I can hardly wait for the containers to arrive … one stuffed to the gunnels with pop corn and the other one stuffed to the gunnels with Irn Bru.
In fairness the second container really shouldn’t have required to go through Customs but it had passed Customs outbound to an overseas customer and missed the boat … as they say š so it was redirected to li’l old me! š

Well, Capella, believe it or not they were not at all worried about the SNP about that time. Probably thought we were harmless and nothing to worry about. It was the Communists that bothered them. Cold war and all that. I had as high a security clearance as it is possible to get. I could walk into Government top secret places without questions being asked.
I’ve been in most of the places like The MOD’s Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) (Porton Down). The Institute of Naval Medicine, (it is a leading authority on the effects of radiation).
I worked in the RADIAC Lab where we tested, repaired and calibrated instruments for working with Nuclear and other radiations, (like X-Rays), and also biological and chemical weapons instruments.
Mind you I doubt I would get security clearance these days as Westminster probably rates the SNP and YES supporters a greater threat to the UK than the Russians.
That doesn’t mean they didn’t keep a wary eye on us but I believe, by that time, they knew the SNP worked by democratic and legal methods.

With some folk this is so strong that they find it near-impossible to admit – even to themselves – that they have made bad mistake. 1. Austerity has made us all poorer, increased homelessness and allowed foodbanks to flourish. For everybody that is except for those it has made richer and they are definitely not supportive of Independence.
2. The NHS has deteriorated under their rule and things are only so much better in Scotland because it’s a Scottish government in charge and not Westminster.
3. Crime is increasing greatly except in Scotland where recorded crime is at an all time low. The fact that policing and law is in the control of the Scottish government and not Westminster is the reason for that.
I’m sure you could all come up with some of your own and my point is let’s start telling every No voter how shite rule is from Westminster and how better it is when Scotland has the levers of power and control.

These claims implying that only Russia has novichoc is utter claptrap and Porton Down will most certainly have it for Porton Down makes and keeps samples of all such weapons for a very good reason.
They not only are constantly developing anything new they can dream up but they research and develop antidotes to be used in the event of enemy attacks. Furthermore they must keep at least small samples in order to check comparisons – otherwise how could they identify any such weapons?
But the implication that only Russia can make novichoc is bunk because novichoc was researched and produced in order to be cheaply and easily made and the raw materials it is made from are not only perfectly safe as long as they are not brought together.
An analogy is that they are like Araldite in that they are made in two parts and the two parts are kept apart until required for use.
This makes novichoc safe and easy to handle and transport because it only becomes a deadly poison when the two parts are brought together as that, like Araldite, initiates a chemical reaction.
BTW: the raw ingredients can be bought by anyone, they are so safe they are not even on the restricted lists, and at least one of the ingredients is a very common garden weed killer.
Any chemistry student could produce the stuff for there is no requirement for a chemical plant. Just mix the ingredients for each of the two parts in the correct quantities, (being careful to keep the two finished individual mixed parts separate until required for use).
Anyway, I was looking forward to a decent nights sleep and had got ready for bed well before midnight.

Nothing yet, but don’t forget bottled water – a good few 5 or 10 litre bottles if you can get it cheap, or if Scottish Water put up a standpipe and issue supplies for any reason. Beans are good, powdered milk, tea (antioxidants), oxo, dried herbs, lentils, split peas, rice, pasta, vit c tablets + some other supplements, can’t really remember what I did for y2k š Would have lasted 3 months though, we were using it for a year after nothing happened ( I wasn’t surprised, but just in case). Some of it is still probably hidden under the floorboards. After 3 months then either Greece has sent over aid, or we’re doomed.

The problem with Kevin Hague isnāt Kevin Hague. The problem with Mundell isnāt Mundell. The problem is Scotland has had over 300 years of Hagueās, Mundells, Torranceās, Davidsonās and their ilk, all of them far too keen to forfeit Scotlandās interests and enjoy, yes actually enjoy, the subjugation of our Nation and itās people.
We live in a system which has produced āthemā for over 300 years, and still produces āthemā in significant and threatening numbers.
When fighting an enemy with the power to renew itself, then your own side needs to have the will and resources to renew itself too, and keep fighting for the required ascendency to defeat the stalemate and win the battle of attrition.
A quicker and more effective route to victory however is to attack and impair the mechanism and system which creates these āwilling enablersā of Scotlandās self doubt and subjugation.
If attacking Kevin Hague makes the next Kevin Hague patsy think twice about his allegiance before setting sail to smear and belittle Scotlandās rightful status as a Nation, then thatās a bonus and another soul kept light and saved from darkness.

The other day I was on the BBC website pertaining to Brexit. I didn’t write a comment but I was voting on the like/dislike buttons. I usually voted with the Scottish nationalist and EU remainers. I voted on almost 200 comments. Next day I can not get on the BBC website. Effectively, I have been banned. I know it’s not the Chinese internet as I tried it on two other teachers computers and got on no problem. The BBC and democracy go hand in hand. Aye, right!!

The Greens and Airb&b. There are on average 15 family size apartments on Airb&b in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Out of a population of 2million. Not a consummate problem. The average cost for a standard hotel room at busy times is Ā£300 a night with most accomadation being totally booked up. Festival time etc. With people having to stay miles away.
There is a problem with airb&b. People are told the accomodation is available and booked. Then the proprietor has 24 hours to say it is not. This is often the case but two+ inquiries cannot be reserved or people can get charged fees or for accomodation twice etc. Especially at short notice. There is a warning to cancel. The price has to be fully paid on application. Not like other accomodation, where a deposit can be paid. Or it can be paid on arrival.
Usually under the sale of facilities or goods there is an opportunity to cancel (7days?) without losing fees or deposit. No always clearly given under the small print. It can get frustrating constantly looking for alternative accomodation. Having been confirmed the accomodation is available. Having to make several inquiries.

If they conclude that Scots are not sovereign, they are coming to the determination that Scots are subservient to the people of England. I can’t see any other conclusion I can come to from such a ruling.

Re Westminster challenges to Scottish sovereignty and the devolution settlement …
If the benchmark for testing what the will of the Scottish people is established as NOT via Holyrood, nor any referendum called by Holyrood, then it must revert back to a general election to Westminster.
The way the Tories are going, they risk a general election (which could be anytime) when the SNP stand on a manifesto to move immediately to independence. If WM casts doubt that our sovereignty lies with the people, but at WM, then that hands the issue of Indy to our MPs.
50+% vote for SNP is possible if a GE becomes a de facto IndyRef2. If that could be achieved, who could challenge that as the will of the people?
50+% SNP MPs elected is a near certainty at the moment. By WM’s dubious standards, even that should be enough to start the process, perhaps necessitating an IndyRef2.

I make a loaf which people say is “amazing” by just mixing the ingredients with my hand in a bowl, quite a wet mix, and put into the tins. The wholemeal stoneground supermarket flour, dried yeast, teaspoon or so of brown sugar, and [Maldon] salt, with or without a spoon of oil or piece of butter.
My husband makes it as easily- as can really young children. White bread can do the same way but the brown is SO tasty!

If you donāt focus too hard on the nitty gritty of actual definitive Sovereignty, you could argue that Holyrood is a construct of Westminster Government, a super committee if you like, which Westminster āgaveā and which Westminster can thus ātake awayā. But that is the shallow and fickle logic of the Ice Queen.
Aslan outsmarted the Ice Queen by apparently submitting to her power, allowing her to believe she was victorious, but possessing a deeper knowledgeable of a more ancient magic. In essesnce, when Westminster cites itās sovereign authority to overrule Holyrood, Westminster forgets that it isnāt actually Holyrood that is claiming to be sovereign, it is the Scottish people. Westminsterās own āassumedā Parliamentary Sovereignty usurps and misappropriates Scottish Sovereignty, and itās skating on pretty thin ice when claiming it has jurisdiction to do so.
For Westminster to claim the Scottish People are not sovereign will require them to produce the proof Scottish Sovereignty was somehow removed from the people of Scotland, and which fantastical mechanism or ordinance was used to do it.
Not to get bogged down in reference s from literature, the simple truth is Westminsterās claim to hold power over Holyrood is trumped by the Scottish people who āloanā Westminster itās power in the first place. If we Scots, the origin point of Sovereign authority, decide we want to keep Holyrood, we can power it directly if we choose, and with or without diverting our Sovereign will through Westminster.
Westminster might lock the doors of Holyrood if it pleases, but the Sovereign parliament of Scotland might assemble on the steps outside, resplendent in all its sovereign legitimacy.
Holyrood, and the Scotland Act arguably, could all be a complete red herring. Westminster may or may not have the power to shut down Holyrood and remove the powers it bestowed in the first place, but pulling the wings off Holyrood is an altogether different issue than overruling Scottish Sovereignty. They are not the same thing at all.
Our biggest problem is understanding the concept that Westminster has no hold upon our sovereignty. In essence, the only āpowerā Westminster has is power which is devolved to Westminster by the Sovereign people of Scotland in the first place. Neither we, nor Westminster seem to properly grasp the purest significance of Sovereignty.
I donāt think they will, but Westminster could Perhaps win the āBattle of Holyroodā, but the Battle of Holyrood is just a proxy war for the real Battle of Scottish Sovereignty, and that is the only essential Constitutional battle that really counts, and which Westminster cannot win.
Westminster could conceivably destroy Holyrood on its stone alter, just like the Ice Queen sacrificed Aslan, but that āvictoryā would be false and short lived, because the deeper ancient magic which the Ice Queen didnāt understand was that real Scottish Sovereignty is infinitely stronger than faux Westminster sovereignty. It is not about strength, convention, or chronology, but simple, indisputable, legitimacy.
Westminster is used to over rule Democracy in Scotland. Scotland is not treated equally in the Union, as agreed under the terms of the Act of Union. They have been broken repeatedly. Annulling the Act of Union. Brexit will finished it off. There will be another GE and another IndyRef. The Tories will lose. The only way for them to get out of the mess. A total shambles.

The Supreme Court ruling is going to be interesting although it could be months before the adjudicate. Things might well have moved on by the time we get the ruling.
However, if they strike down Holyrood it will not be a good look for Westminster especially as the tide against Brexit is becoming overwhelming in Scotland.
If the Court rules in Holyrood’s favour it will be a thorn in Westinster’s side but only one of a hundred other thorns and I think they will still try to work around and against Holyrood.
I would prefer for Holyrood to win but politically it might suit us better to lose.

Jeezo, Smallaxe where to begin? I know I’ve said this before but if the general public could get access to the information that you’ve posted today Scotland would be free in a heartbeat and there would be riots down south.
I don’t see a happy ending to any type of scenario now. The genie is out of the bottle and the populace of England will rebel no matter which way this goes: through anger or downright misery. At the end of the day we can’t dislocate from this landmass, so it’ll still have implications for us. All we can do now (and we will) is get our Independence to ensure that we Scots are making our own decisions: have total control over our Country.
It’s a crying shame because when you get back to the basics, clear away the mountain of Brexit dross, this was in the main about immigration imo. Immigration that Theresa May et al had control over, something else that they’ve hidden from the populace, such as the ability to repatriate EU member nationals after three months if they hadn’t found a job or didn’t have the means to support themselves. Other countries, such as Belgium, regularly repatriate thousands of individuals based on the following EU directive. So why not the UK?

We had control of our borders too, but that was ”undone” by Tony Blair in 1998 when he removed exit checks. This led to us not knowing who had left the country and who had remained, such as illegal immigrants.

By chance I was at a neighbours bottling some home brew and he showed me his no-knead bread which takes 18hours to ‘prove’. It is heavier than bread machine or kneaded bread, but apparently delicious. Suggest you google ‘no knead bread’ or look it up on Wikipedia.

Well that was an interesting morning at the Supreme Court. The Lord Advocate, James Wolffe QC, presented a very detailed case. Can’t claim to have followed all of it but seemed to demolish the Advocate General’s case comprehensively. Their Lordships and Ladyship will have to scroll through a lot of references to cover all the points.
He was followd by Jeremy Miles, Counsel General for Wales, who blew gaping holes in the Advocate General’s case, with examples. Well worth listening to in detail. He spoke for approx 30 mins up to 1.00 pm.
They’ve stopped for lunch now so the Northern Ireland Counsel must follow at approx 2.00.

Chang Sha – many thanks for your reply and the fascinating link – spent a bit of time on the Shannon myself. I lived in the Far East for a number of years and picked up a bit of Mandarin – enough to be able to translate most place names. I can’t read characters so may be wrong, but I think the meaning in your article is close to the real meaning of Chang Sha ie “long sand(bank)”. This would fit as the city lies at the confluence of the Xiao and Xiang rivers. Hunan – the province means “south of the lake”. Once again thanks for your reply and story. Scotland is Sukerlan in Mandarin so Sukerlan wann suey is Scotland forever. Sorry to everyone for the o/t
