Talking Scotland up and down
The Scottish media has been operating at what former BBC journalist Paul Mason once called “full propaganda strength” for the last few weeks, trying to inflate some pretty standard seasonal fluctuations into a “WINTER NHS CRISIS”.
One of the more egregious examples came yesterday when the state broadcaster’s Scotland editor Sarah Smith announced to the nation that 100,000 patients had waited more than four hours at A&E departments last week – a pretty impressive feat since in reality only a quarter of that number actually visited A&Es in Scotland last week, and four-fifths of those were seen in under four hours.
The 100,000 figure in fact refers to an entire year, not a week. Depending on how you look at it, Smith misrepresented the reality by either 2,000% or 5,200%. Yet at the time of writing we’re not aware of the BBC having issued any correction or apology for this, well, let’s be generous and say “error”.
The stats record the time taken for patients presenting at A&E to be dealt with (that doesn’t just mean “seen”, but seen, assessed, and then either treated, admitted or sent home). For the whole of 2017 the figures for Scotland were:
Patients dealt with in four hours or less: 93.1%
In eight hours or less: 99.2%
In 12 hours or less: 99.9%
Which doesn’t sound like too much of a crisis.
Alert observers will of course be aware that this is all entry-level basic operating mode for the media. Even if they weren’t trying to whip up politically-motivated “SNP BAD” material – and most of them are – it’s a deep journalistic instinct to exaggerate and hyperbolise everything into the worst news possible in order to drive traffic and clicks.
But does it work?
In our latest Panelbase poll we asked our representative sample of Scottish voters how they felt the four main devolved areas of government were doing compared to the rest of the UK. And in essence, the quintessentially Scottish answer was “No’ too bad”.
Respondents broadly felt that services were pretty much the same on both sides of the border. But in news which will ASTONISH complete idiots, people’s opinions were significantly coloured by their political affiliations.
On a scale where 1 means “much worse in Scotland than the rest of the UK”, 5 means “much better in Scotland” and 3 means “about the same”, the average scores were:
Education: 3.1 (ie fractionally better than the rest of the UK)
Policing: 3.0 (exactly the same)
Health: 3.3 (slightly better)
Transport: 2.9 (fractionally worse)
But when you drill down into the politics things shift somewhat.
CONSERVATIVE VOTERS
Tories think everything in Scotland is a little bit worse.
Education: 2.4
Policing: 2.4
Health: 2.8
Transport: 2.5
LABOUR VOTERS
Labour voters think everything’s pretty much the same.
Education: 3.1
Policing: 2.9
Health: 3.0
Transport: 2.8
LIB DEM VOTERS
Lib Dems reckon it’s all about the same, except health is noticeably better.
Education: 2.9
Policing: 2.9
Health: 3.5
Transport: 3.0
SNP VOTERS
While SNP voters think everything in Scotland is a fair bit better.
Education: 3.7
Policing: 3.5
Health: 3.8
Transport: 3.3
By independence affiliation, the results are arguably a touch counter-intuitive.
YES VOTERS
Supporters of independence already think Scotland does everything a little better, but presumably think it could improve even more if it wasn’t having to constantly battle Tory austerity and Westminster cuts.
Education: 3.6
Policing: 3.3
Health: 3.6
Transport: 3.3
NO VOTERS
Whereas No voters feel that under the current arrangements almost everything is slightly worse in Scotland than in the rest of the UK, yet for some reason want to retain that status quo.
Education: 2.7
Policing: 2.7
Health: 3.0
Transport: 2.7
So those are the bare stats. But we started this article talking about the NHS, and the most striking thing about the figures is that despite a decade-long media campaign of absolutely relentless negativity, scaremongering and even outright lying, the Scottish public still overwhelmingly thinks its health service is the best in the UK.
With the sole exception of Tory voters, every group in the poll thought NHS Scotland was performing better than the rest of the country. (And even Tories ranked Health as significantly better than the other three areas of devolved responsibility.)
Of course, we can’t say that public opinion of NHS Scotland wouldn’t be even higher without the constant onslaught from the press and opposition parties, much of which (as we’ve discovered over the years) is highly misleading in nature. But that onslaught hasn’t turned voters against their doctors and nurses and surgeons and midwives, or the Scottish Government’s management of them.
By and large, Scots feel that they do at least as good a job, or a better job, of things they handle for themselves as things which are run by Westminster. Contrary to what they’re constantly told by Unionist parties and newspapers, they don’t think they’re too wee, too poor or too stupid to run the services that are the lifeblood of a nation.
It’s interesting to speculate as to when the other shoe will drop.
I am sure BBC national six and nine o’clock news will correct this false impression later to-day. Aye right.

Glad you’ve posted on this topic Rev. I’d like to see more on it too. For example, on a casual analysis of BBC website stories, there are
a) far more NHS bad stories in Scotland than in England/UK, and
b) the vast majority of the NHS stories in Scotland refer to (and suggest blame on) the SNP/Scot Gov while the England/UK stories usually do not refer to the Tories/UK Gov but rather blame often resides with the NHS itself.

Conservatives are an odd lot. I remember years ago reading an article in an American journal of psychology about the general mindset of conservative as opposed to liberal or unaffiliated voters in the USA. Conservative voters were pessimistic, negative and more prone to depression and unhappiness than the others.
That article was written in the 1980s, so maybe things have changed, but it would be interesting to see if Conservatives in the UK are as negative as in Scotland.

Not in the long-run. I used to be an avid reader of the Guardian but, in part, because of its increasing propensity to do this I read less and less of it. I used to spend hours reading and commenting at the Guardian, now I’m done with it in about a fifteen minutes. What the practice has succeeded in doing is drive me to other sources of news which gives a different account of what is going on. To that extent the practice yields positive benefits.
The “traditional” newspapers are constantly shooting themselves in the foot with this practice – it’s no wonder they are dying. Less and less investigative journalism. More and more “opinion” pieces trying to pose as journalism. Stinks.

3) Unionist parties attack SNP for spending less on education / health.
The best people to run Scotland are the Scots themselves.
The core Labour and Conservative argument is that we are too stupid to manage our own affairs. The real irony comes when they complain about modest tax changes to compensate for their own Westminster spending cuts!

My good lady works with the NHS on behalf of the Scottish government. She marvels at the work the staff put in every single day to keep us safe.
The enemies of Scotland are all the arms of the British establishment. Unionist politicians who openly admit they would rather see Scotland suffer than leave the Union. Media who constantly pour forth bilge as news. Unions who complain about everything on behalf of Labour masters.
Yesterday I challenged a union rep (former colleague) who had been complaining about an issue in the local health service. I showed him evidence that what he was saying was nonsense.
He informed me that his subjective opinion was formed after talking to the workers involved. Amazingly enough after talking to three colleagues involved in the area in question, it transpired that the Union rep had not been near the area at all. Why would he therfore say such a thing?

As someone who has experienced the NHS in both countries I agree. The Scottish system is much better set up. The GPs seem to have a more public service ethos than some in England. The hospitals work pretty well too as do various outpatient facilities in the community. The last time I had an ECG for eg it happened in the GP surgery. Most convenient. We have a pitch up when you want outpatient X-ray service in a fairly centrally located hospital with good, free, parking on several bus routes. There is an orthopaedic triage service run by physios too. If they can fix you without referring you on they will. Taking stress off the orthopaedists in the hospital.
In London seeing a GP had become a nightmare as we left. I had to wait more than 6months in pain to see anyone at the Royal National Orthopaedic hospital. Meanwhile my boss pulled some strings and had me jump the queue to see rheumatology in the Hammersmith. I pitched up at the delivery bay to be met by an intern. It was useful, they ruled out any rheumatoid condition or general bone degeneration condition which sped things up when I saw the orthopaedists. I shudder to think how long it would have taken without that help.
The other hand was done suddenly, I was rung on the Friday, they had a cancellation, could I come in on Monday? Lucky again. I was facing the prospect of having to move my family from London to Dundee with only one functioning hand.
Most tory votes go private anyway, almost instantly they can afford it too. We know this, because going private is just another status symbol for the wealth off, like say youre average 200 grand a year beeb Scotland ligger.
And what’s the use of going private, if you cant tell everyone you’re going private.

‘waiting more than 4 hours to be seen’ is highly misleading, and seems to be repeated everywhere.
The 4 hours surely includes time spent being treated, then being cared for until transferred to a ward (or discharged).
Look, I’m getting fed up saying this: do not pay a license fee for propaganda against your own country. Just stop doing it.

Having failed to cut us off from news from the rUK with the Trojan Horse of a Scottish Six we’re well aware of how the NHS is being wrecked by the Torys.
We’re also aware of the ongoing attempts to reverse devolution or, failing that, remove powers from Holyrood/SNP.
The ongoing ideological commitment to Brexit at all costs harks back to Monetarism at all costs.
As far as the NHS goes we’ve had years of undermining going on in the rUK which will have consequences on Scotland.
The current relatively healthy state of Scotland’s NHS is in comparison to the rUK and as long as we’re in the UK there’s a danger that Westminster or unionist parties will gain control of it.
Not forgetting that Brexit is already having a negative impact on it and other businesses in the UK that rely on EU workers.
Even with basic maths it is clear the Scotland Correspondent is either lying or extremely stupid. 100,000 for one week would be 5.2 million for the year, almost everybody in Scotland has spent more than 4 hours in A & E in 2017 by the BBC’s reckoning.
Are they still trying to expose fake news, not really as the example they took to schools to demonstrate fake news was in part itself fake, actually government propaganda.
The disconnect between what the media reports of attitudes to the NHS and what patients say about the care they and their families have been given has gone on for many many years.
It is one thing for the media to criticise failures in service provision (that is in part their role – to call power to account) but this constant barrage of anti NHS propaganda serves us very badly.
It speaks volumes I think that there has been no great outcry about the 100,000 waiting figure, because we don’t believe figures trotted out like this and why should we since they are rarely if ever put into any context. 74.3% of statistics are plucked from thin air.
Scotland wants to keep the NHS safe from the privatisers and for the most part even Conservatives support the principles of the NHS. It is a vanishingly small number of people who would benefit from the destruction of the NHS. And they would probably, if they succeeded, go abroad for their own health needs.
There are words to describe these people and none of them are polite.

Remember when the railways were once publicly owned and were regarded as inefficient and ‘losing’ millions of pounds per week, so much so that it was quickly regarded by the Tories that the best thing to do to modernise and make them more efficient was to sell it off to their pals in the City.
Well that is exactly what they are attempting to do with the SNHS. Make it appear inefficient and then propose that the best way of making it more efficient is to privatise it.

I didn’t see the Sarah Smith report but I think I may have found the source of the 100,000 figure. From the EBC no less! On their piece about the absolute state of SNHS, the very last sentence.

Last month, BBC analysis of NHS data showed that fewer patients in Scotland were waiting longer than four hours in A&E than they did in 2012/3 in contrast to England where the number had more than doubled.

So the 100,000 is actually a 9% FALL to this figure AND it’s since 2012/13!!

I don’t ‘watch’ the news as such, but can’t help catching some of it. When May was re-shuffling, I think I heard somebody (toodleoothenoo?) saying that even although she was ‘busy’ she still managed to say that there would be NO referendum for Scotland.

Perhaps the simplest conclusion is that Tory voters are ‘in tune’ with the BBC/MSM propaganda.
Whether it is the propaganda which makes them believe what they do, or whether the propaganda just reflects their beliefs, is difficult to tell. The two feed each other.
I suppose they believe things are worse in Scotland because the don’t believe in devolution and certainly don’t see the SNP as competent. They believe UK / British / Anglicised / London is best, Scotland / Scottish is by their definition second rate and can never be better.
Some Tories break the mold. Could these be the ones who are content to wallow in the better services here, but remain BritNats. They know things are better, but are still ideologically tied to their ‘Britishness’. They probably believe things are better here only because of Barnet!

Although it’s good that trust in our public services has survived the daily onslaught of lies from the media, it must be very disheartening to the staff who work in these services.
The BBC is a failed state broadcaster. I ignore it almost completely now. But I watched the clip above, deeply insulting though it is, because it is important to be able to pass on to others how the misinformation is spread.
The Tories have cut the NHS £4Billion a year from 2015 to 2020. £20Billion. They have put in £2Billion. They should have increase the NHS funding for the elderly and inflation. They have cut the NHS funding, They should a put a tax on ‘loss lending’ alcohol years ago. Plus a higher tax on fags.

I agree there’s something amiss here. It is being abused to give the impression that folks can sit ignored for over four hours.
My understanding is they are registered and triaged but the ‘to be seen’ refers to medical attention and decisions. Clearly, the triage process means those most in need are dealt with first so those who do wait >4hours are the least needy.
Of course they could introduce a ticket system and deal with everyone in order. Then very few would wait four hours. And more people would die! Is this what they want!?
Perhaps someone involved directly in A&E can clarify all this. The ‘be seen’ element is being used to generate propaganda.

I read the article on Cutice’s latest and was amazed to find that 60% think EU powers should be devolved to Holyrood and the remaining 40% think they should be split between Westminster or a bit of both and a UK Government spokesperson says that this shows people support their position. 60% is a minority in modern mathematics obviously.

Of course, some junior staff at pathetic quay, may be quite unaware and innocent, since the editorial agenda is effectively GIVEN to them by London, and their handlers. However, no matter how it is considered, the BBC is a complete London propaganda outfit, aimed at undermining Scottish self esteem, self belief, Scottish cultural awareness and most especially undermining ANY notion of ending London colonial rule of Scotland, with a restoration of Scottish independence. I posted this on the last thread about A&E figures for 2017 and have updated it.
The 100,000 waiting longer than 4 hours does look suspicious so I had a look at all the monthly A&E reports for 2017 produced by the ISD. The monthly reports tend to be more accurate than the weekly reports
The reports cover the period from Jan 2017 up to and including November 2017.
Total visits 1,501,563
Total waiting more than 8 hours 8,019 (0.53%)
Total waiting more than 12 hours 1,561 (0.1%)
So 9,580 waiting more than 8 hours.
The ISD does not appear toreport the numbers whose visits to A&E exceed 4 hours but are less than 8 hours but the numbers can be worked out from the information that is reported.
Therefore the 100,000 total comes from those attending A&E who are not seen and dealt with within the 4 hour period but are seen and dealt with within 8 hours. The length of their stay in A&E, for some, may be a reflection of the complexity of their case rather than an A&E struggling to cope.
Over those 11 months the percentage being seen, treated and discharged within 4 hours ranged from a low of 91.8% in Jan 2017to a high of 95.7% in July 2017.

Philippa Whitford tweeted about this recently. In Scotland, the time starts with registration, and ends with discharge/admission – 80%, 95%, whatever%, have their entire experience concluded within 4 hours. (So, the more complicated your treatment, the less leeway there is for sitting in a queue and still managing to leave/be admitted to a ward in less than 4 hours.)
In England (I don’t know about Wales or NI), the time starts with being “seen” by a doctor, so the whole wait in corridors/back of ambulances is not included in the statistics and they still have worse results than we do.

The rebuttals can, will and are being done on the internet. That is how they get out there, shared information. As the internet coverage expands so will the information ever further. I don’t know if you read the full report by Curtice or just the article about devolved powers being retained by Scotland or ran by Westminster or a bit of both.
In the report only 8% wanted powers over farming to be decided by the UK government and just 9% for fishing.
59% for farming and 62% for fishing said ALL decisions should be made over these areas by the Scottish government with the remainder saying a bit of both.

In addition to that you should write to Capita (the BBC tax collectors) and inform them that their implied right to access your property is revoked.
In legal terms that means any Capita employee/sub-contractor acting on their behalf is committing the offence of Aggravated Trespass, which is a criminal offence punishable by up 3 months jail. Its an offence in E&W and also in Scotland, not sure about NI.
The upshot is that you can call the cops and if they fail to remove the Crapita employee immediately they are guilty of an offence themselves. If they subsequently don’t arrest of formally caution the Crapita guy then they are guilty of gross misconduct and will get a written reprimand as a minimum. Win-win really 🙂
If A&E depts start hitting 100% the BBC will just start suggesting that patients are being ‘rushed’ through willy-nilly and it’s a pure scandal so it is.

She is just so brilliant. She talks with such clarity and knowledge. What a great politician.
I was speaking to a friend earlier today who happened to mention her daughter in law writes news bulletins for the BBC in London for radios 1,2,3 & 4. Just watched a video on BBC Scotland website of a man complaining that a minor fracture has worsened because he waited a week to go to A&E. This has been edited to blame SNHS. I saw the full video last night on News, he chose not to wait when he first went to A&E and when he returned a week later it was obviously worse however he admitted he had been treated in 3.5 hrs.

But the Bloody Bagga Chancers keep sending me letters even though i have informed them many times that i do not have a television in my house, i was ignoring all these letters they sent me, and they allways say that they will be sending somebody to see me, i have a house full of custard creams, no cream buns i’m afraid, i ate all them when my visitors never appeared.
Anyway one day another letter appeared warning me again, so i thought, to hell with this, i am going to phone these people again
It was a nice young chap that answered the phone, and i explained to him, that i am sick of getting letters when i have told them so many times, i do not have a television, and he did laugh when i mentioned i can hardly move for custard creams
He said to me, i am very sorry Mr Caledonia, ( i have obviously not put my surname here to protect the guilty ) lol
He said that’s it fixed, you will not recieve any more letters for at least 2 years, and that is their policy, you inform them you don’t have a television and they don’t bother you for 2 years

I took this good advice from sensible Wingers last summer and cancelled the licence before we went off to the US for two months. Best thing we ever did. Didn’t have access to TV in America (what a blessing) so by the time we came back, addiction gone! Didn’t miss it in the slightest.

The suggestion that patients are being rushed through A&E in order to make their targets has already surfaced.
In the last few weeks it has appeared in articles, below the line comments and the letters pages. Usually the letters are from retired medics thus giving the idea a spurious legitimacy, or so they think.
Compare NHS England with NHS Scotland at PMQ’s. Why aren’t BBC Shortbread reporting the issues in other parts of the UK when talking of Scotland’s performance?

I have noticed one or two tweets on the Rev’s Twitter feed alluding to A&E performance during Labour’s time in charge at Holyrood.
Worth pointing out that for most of the time Labour were in charge the A&E stats were collected once per year over a 3-7 day period in April from a core group of A&E departments.

It was not until 2006 that they started collecting them throughout the year and publishing the results quarterly.

Mrs May called for an all party approach / discussion on Sunday regards the NHS (in England).
She would, she’s in the sh1t! When a policy or sector is going badly wrong, those governing always suggest a joint approach, pulling together, it’s what the public wants, etc, it spreads the blame and takes the spot light off of them. Oppositions politely decline!
Scotland’s NHS is not in the poor state the English NHS is in, but that does not mean we can continue “as is” for much longer, all indicators point to this being the case.
I will always remain in favour of “free at the point of care”, but for this to continue, tax needs to be raised. Moreover, additional numbers of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and dentists needs to be trained and recruited.
For the Scottish Government to reach out to labour who weaponised the NHS and or the tories who want to privatise the NHS is a waste of time. I think a national discussion is required with input from the public, healthcare professionals, patient representatives, academics and other interested parties, e.g. local authorities.
Otherwise, when we in Scotland will slip into the abyss that England is in. The Barnet formula will also impact funding. We will have no excuses and no other option than to go down the private route that England is well travelled.

Shocking experience today, Scottish NHS, routine health screening appointment (that I had to change, and was given a day earlier than original date).
So caught an Edinburgh non privatised bus, it was on time but stuck in traffic due to what looked like fibre broadband works, then, another bus it was on time and stuck at every traffic light, hm, panic! But, then I got into the appointment exactly on time, seen exactly on time, and out in 10 mins.
Staff were great, very efficient as well. Wow, what a disgrace eh, it all went absolutely fine and on schedule. That is how things should be, if you think about it, it’s 2018, not 1818, though the Britnats are it seems, oblivious to that fact.
Scotland, get the heck out of this disgusting so called union, soon as possible. Oh and my bro in NE Eng gets his bus pass this year, wow, he is 65, having worked since he was 15. According to their council website, if you are born after 1960 you can sing for your free bus pass, no date scheduled, lovely eh. Labour council.

Wull2 @5.19 My complaint against the bias in the Scottish Leaders Debate and infamous ‘nurse going to foodbanks’ plant is there in the Ofcom issue 334 of 7th August. Although its under (as expected)’Complaints assessed, not investigated’ I went through it all knowing that they knew that I knew what their game was. They had to reply at length to me and I got great satisfaction knowing they had to try to justify the unjustifiable.
I must say that I was a bit disappointed that I was the only one who, according to this record, took them to task for such obvious bias. If many more of us swamped them with complaints then they would have to have a special department to respond and we would get the satisfaction of really pissing them off!

Tomorrow I have an appointment with my optician who has my utmost trust. He will no doubt give me a prescription to alleviate my problems. There will not be a charge and he will see me at the appointed time. Thank god for the SNHS. Could somebody tell me the name and time of the programme and I will make my nth complaint to the BBC for putting this kind of tripe out there. It may be a bit difficult to do as I no longer pay the propaganda tax to the BBC. I told the BBC that I no longer wanted to pay for anti-Scottish propaganda when I cancelled my payment of the tax.
The BBC presenter/propagandist at the start said only 78% of patients were seen within the 4 hour target,
The BBC unionist that is named Sarah said 100,000 waited more than 4 hours,
doing `the math`,
The 22% that missed the 4 hour target = 100,000 patients,
1% = 4545 patients,
therefore Scottish NHS A & E must have seen 100 X 4545 = 454000 patients in 1 week
and that would just be A & E not patients seeing their local GP or non A&E departments in Hospitals,
so half a million Scots visited A&E in 1 week and the Scottish NHS still managed 78% seen within 4 hours,
that`s the size of Glasgow visiting the A&E in 1 week according to the figures of the BBC unionist named Sarah,
fricken should be medals all round for our Scottish NHS staff.

They are in breaking the law and in the wrong and you are the legal occupier – you conduct the exchange – not them.
Another point is you can request that only the most senior member of the group, (and they will come mob handed), remains to attempt to make legal contact and they will not know who the legal occupier is. So tell the BBC nothing and keep all those illegally threatening letters as evidence to use against them if the Procurators Fiscal decide to charge them with Coercion.

Spot on Robert. Exactly what I was thinking. Many individuals, in particular the elderly, are loathe to attend A&E departments now. The journey, the thought of sitting around for hours on end and as they see it sitting amongst hordes of people is too much for them to contemplate. One wonders, at the extreme end of the scale, how many deaths have resulted from this?
Add to that the levels of depression and anxiety generated with a daily diet of Scotland in ‘crisis’. Doom and gloom day in and day out.
I no doubt share the sheer frustration of this with many others on here. The MSM are basically getting away with blue murder and there’s seemingly nothing we can do about it. STV don’t bother responding to complaints. The BBC just forwards a wee notice of their impartiality. Ofcom tells you to complain to the BBC initially (although you can still over-ride that) and IPSO is worse than useless.
It’s also becoming clear that comparing A&E targets and cancelled operation in Scotland versus England is like comparing apples to oranges. The criteria in both cases is entirety different and should be clarified. It would help if the SNP (or Philippa Whitford et al) outlined such differences, as the MSM won’t be doing if any time soon. The Scots should also be made aware of basic facts such as that the NHS in England has been abolished and is being privatised at some rate: as a result the NHS budget in England will be cut as will ours. A recent article suggests that money spent on the NHS over the next few years will be on a par with 1951. Then there’s the implications, with Brexit, of TTIP Trump moving in to push through privatisation. And so it goes on. All info being withheld from the Scots by the Unionist cabal of politicians in cahoots with the Media.
Sarah Smith of course is a member of the Unionist cabal and therefore is using her position to blatantly promote her / their agenda. Her sister Jane is married to Lord Robertson’s (Scottish independence would be cataclysmic for the West) son, their minister the Alexander twins father and her mother, Baroness Smith of Gilmorehall, sits in the House of Lords (to name but a few links). Note however that her mother has claimed more than £600,000 of public money since last tabling a question to ministers in 2002. They don’t want to upset the apple cart as it’s clear that being ‘Better Together’ is working for them.

I’ve spent a lifetime doing volunteer work for those less fortunate than myself, so I’m not one to laugh at other people’s misfortune and/or suffering – but I have to admit that I almost wet myself laughing when I watched that complete idiot admitting on video how bloody stupid he was.
He goes to A&E with what he suspects is a broken ankle and he voluntarily decides to leave because they are so busy and he doesn’t fancy waiting for attention that quite obviously was not life threatening, like for example, an open and bleeding wound or a suspected heart attack or a dangerously high temperature.
He leaves taking any action for a full week then returns to A&E, (probably, as it was obviously NOT an emergency he should have made an appointment with the local GP’s practice nurse).
Anyway a week later he decides to return to A&E but then goes to the lengths of being videoed complaining of the long wait he CHOSE to have for treatment after proving beyond doubt it wasn’t actually an emergency matter. Not only that but he blames the SNHS for him deciding to walk about on a broken ankle.
Strikes me the numptie has some other axe to grind that he doesn’t want us to know about. I wonder if he’s a member of the OO or something like that?

I have complained over and over again to the BBC and did complain about the leaders debate. At least I have a case no for the complaint about Sarah Smith usually I don’t even get that. It is a waste of time but I always hope more and more will do it until it cannot be ignored.

It is a matter of fact that Dr Philippa Whitford, (a great lady), is already on record of doing just that. In fact I read a batch of comments on either Twitter or Facebook on that topic but I cannot remember where it was. I only read it in the passing as I was looking for something else at the time when it caught my eye.
That is, of course, part of the problem. You hardly ever read reports of such things being aired by the SNP parliamentarians in Westminster as the SMSM avoid such items as if they were the plague.

Note that it may take them 2 weeks to reply. If you follow up, it will be a further 4 weeks before they need to reply to the follow up. After that, you may escalate further up the BBC. No idea how many weeks that might take. If still unhappy, you MAY be able to refer it to OFCOM. More weeks/months/perhaps years go by.
In other words, the state broadcaster is immune to public dissatisfaction. Just don’t pay to be lied to and advise anyone who asks to do the same. IMO.

Guess what, Flu happens in cold weather and we get colder weather than the rest of the UK; plus icy weather causes more slips and sprains and we get more icy weather than the rest of the UK so we have double the demand but we are still the best performing Health service in the UK.
In Scotland, one clock goes on when you arrive at A and E and the 4 hour target begins from the moment you arrive; in England the clock goes on when you arrive, but once you have been seen, another clock starts after the Doctor has seen you, so you might then wait for 10 hours on a trolley, 3.5 hours after arriving at A and E so you actually have taken 13.5 hours from stat to finish.

I had a bad sprained ankle in the spring, by morning I couldn’t put my weight on my foot, but I strapped it up with a scarf and went to local minor injuries clinic where it was dealt with pretty promptly and successfully. It was excruciatingly sore and I couldn’t possibly have lasted a week without having it seen to. Sounds well dodgy to me.

I’ve noticed your complaints about posts disappearing not just recently but for a wee while. All I can say is that their is no moderator on Wings other than the Rev.
He uses an automatic system to moderate based on certain words like you cannot say gr*pe as in the fruit because the word r*pe is there.
The only only things I’m aware of for that your post may not appear is if you post a link to a youtube video without deleting the http:// part it will not appear.
If it happens again I’d suggest you first save the post then put it up in paragraphs at a time then you might find out the “offending” word that stops your posts appearing.
Sounds like hard work but I’d like to know the results 🙂

Last point, ‘duplicate detected’ means your post has already been received by the server and you shouldn’t try to post again else it will appear twice, well if at all in your case.

Hitting the back button might get you able to see your post in the box above subnit comment, works for me on firefox.
Oh would that BBC Scotland had a 95% target for ‘facts’ reported being accurate and a monthly report on how well they had done against that target.
@ Petra – you can retrieve your post by clicking the browser back arrow. Then copy and paste it into a notebook file. See if there are any banned words or dodgy links. Then copy and paste into the comment box again.

I went through a phase of cutting and pasting my posts to notebook in case they went down a crack somewhere but as Capella says if you hit the back arrow in the TLHS of your browser it should get you back to your original text entry box where you entered the post. This can be perused for moderation triggers and amended.
On the very few occasions where no apparent triggers were detectable and random tweeking of the post still did not produce a result, I have found, usually a day or two later, that the post had a quite unintended inference from that intended and been consequently grateful of its omission.

Nail on the head with this post. I cancelled my TV license last summer after getting sick and tired of the relentless negativity from the BBC, and its obviously intensified greatly since then.
I stick by the rules, signed up for Netflix, get my news from the web and I’ve never regretted it. I get the threatening letters on a regular basis despite contacting the BBC to inform them of my decision and know my rights from some of the excellent Wingers on Stu’s blog.
I know that the BBC is not funded directly from the license fee, but if this is all I can do to register my disgust at their institutional bias against Scottish Independence then fair enough, it makes me feel better.
I’ve also stopped listening to BBC Good Morning Scotland as it was becoming apparent that the constant drip feed of bias and negativity was making my morning drive to work an expletive filled rage fest which was affecting my normal cheery demeanour.
Think about what manandboy is saying folks, you’ve nothing to lose and £147 to gain.
Most Doctor’s surgeries are shut two weeks between Christmas/New Year. They are not open from 23/24rd December till 4/5 Jan. Put’s a stain on the alternative services out of hours and A &E. At the busiest (coldest) time of year, Surely the surgeries could have a staggered service. Provide some kind of emergency cover for those not going away etc.
No one grudges the Doctor’s /medical professions their holidays but surely some time off could be taken at less busy times of year. Then the darkest, blackest winter,When the call of duty goes up. The busiest? time. Other agencies have to pick up the slack and become over prescribed. Other occupations manage staffing at crucial times. Surely some form of limited emergency surgery care is feasible by alternating time off. At the busiest time of year. Working in tangent with S/BMA to find a preferable solution.

Almost two years ago my heart (totally unexpectedly) decided it wanted to slow down to 7 beats per minute – by then I was coming and going out of consciousness. It happened around 10.30 on a Sunday morning. By around 6.30 pm I was back home functioning as fit as a fiddle with a brand new pacemaker in my chest. Been good ever since. I had to go to Exeter recently and was very surprised to find that Flybe have direct flights from Glasgow 6 days a week.
The flight was very busy on both lega – full of Royal Naval staff and contractors. It is in fact an MOD flight under the guise of a commercial schedule. An added bonus for Flybe is selling off unused seats to the public ( check the site for yourself)

The grim reality of a very hard Brexit in the media. Perhaps half a million jobs lost.
At the other end of the Brexit spectrum, it is being made clear that ongoing payments to the EU will be required for a more comprehensive deal. If services are included, it will mean payments.

They take this to court and its about the nature of devolution, the Scotland bill/act, the articles of the treaty of union, the nature of ‘partnership’. ALL of it will be brought up. So far as Westminster is concerned, it will be messy, loud and all over the place.
Smart money is still on a ballot I’d reckon. If they’re smart, they’ll work to avoid a court case which calls the fabric of political union and the existing treaty settlement into question. S’up to them though. (shrugs)

I am the admin of a busy football site which is created via WordPress and I find even my own comments can disappear when posted. I find random posts from regulars will be sent to Spam or Trash folders ( theres approved and pending folders too) and no rhyme nor reason for it other than WordPress AI just said “Not showing this one”.
There will be a Black Mirror episode about it no doubt with AI deciding whose human voice is allowed to be heard and whose voices are deemed “Spam” or “Trash”.

Mad Ruth McMad banging on at FMQs about the alleged disaster that is The Scottish NHS.
She is going on about the reduced number of beds. While it was not under a Tory Scottish Government I can distinctly remember when the final plans for the new Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh were produced to finally be built under a Lab/lib PFI Scam that there was considerable debate around the fact that the new Infirmary would have substantially fewer beds than the old one.
It was argued at the time that this was because of advances in medicine which reduced the time patients had to stay in hospital and also that many procedures could now be carried out as day surgery.
My understanding is that this policy dating from before the first SNP Government in 2007 has been followed in the building of all subsequent new hospitals and explains the reduced bed numbers our Hon Col. is banging on about.
Furthermore, I would be surprised if the same policy has not been followed by the NHS in South Britain – perhaps figures could be obtained for this.
Re bed blocking perhaps Miss McMad could be reminded which party was in power when all the Convalescent and Geriatric Hospital were closed leading to the short lived Nursing Home Boom which created many millionaires but has now gone somewhat tits up.
Increasing Oil price makes everything else more expensive. A double edge sword. It is better being lower but have a tax regime that allows for continued exploration and production. Not 40% when the price is lower. Westminster total appalling mismanagement. Not boom and bust. Until needs are lowered. Or less imported. necessary. Other alternative (cheaper)fuel and energy products can be further developed. Renewables etc. Or CCS.

As far as I know, nowhere has Nicola said a no-deal Brexit makes EURef2 irresistible. I am certain that a no-deal Brexit will result in IndyRef2. By that stage, EU referendums will be well out the window!

Nicola Sturgeon has never said or called for a second EU referendum to be held.
All it is not what it seems if Farage is backing another EU ref. He decided he spoke for the Brexiteers if you recall from last week sometime. So it would seem the establishment are bent on overturning the vote. If Farage is being given air time, and there will be more of this, on repeating his EU2ref, then it’s a foregone conclusion that it’s on the cards.
Remember they must hold on to Scotland at all costs. Also, the sector breakdown papers that don’t exist but do exist will have shown the real devastation on the way after Breixit…without Scotland, England cannot stand. So of course there’s going to be another one and they will present it in parliament as a vote on the ‘terms of Brexit’ and push for Remain on the back of that.
They will think they have ‘killed’ the Indyref2 prospect by doing so…if we are still in the EU they will say there is now no need for a second indyref. We know that Brexit is not the ’cause’ or ‘need’ for independence, but it has played a major part in reigniting the debate and they will also know that the support for Independence is increasing the nearer to Brexit deal we get.
What will be interetsing in light of Farage’s intervention is whether he really does speak for the Brexiteers? He’s now become a ‘Remoaner’ the very thing he has been slagging off since they ‘won’.

To redress this national insurance payments will have to increase and/or the state pension age will have to rise ( again) and/or the state pension will have to be reduced.
Of course the objective of the Tory government with the auto enrollment of all workers over 18 into employer pension schemes is none other than to “ means test” the state pension and as soon as is practically possible “ abolish” the state pension for all but a few individuals who would have been unable to work during their life time probably principally for medical reasons .
So much for Gordon Broon and his “ scare the pensioners diatrade “ during the referendum campaign . The state pension in the U.K. has never been under more threat of its very existence than under this Westminster government . This should be a principal message to our elderly Scottish residents ( and middle aged forthcoming retirees during the forthcoming Indyref2 campaign. Our FM should provide vital reassurance to Scottish residents that under independence
a non negotiable commitment to a “ decent & fair “ Scottish state pension will be included as a legal right under statute via our Holyrood parliament to all our residents . The repatriation of all Scottish national insurance payments made during the working lives of all Scots to the U.K. treasury attributable to individual pensions at retirement date should be included in the “ divorce settlement” to be negotiated.

Agreed we need some balance in reporting of Scotland, the continued negativity is intended to sap the moral of the nation. The SNHS has been under constant attack from the BBC for weeks, destroy the moral and you destroy the performance level.
Strangely no better example of this than BBC Scotland, it has lost the confidence of most except the diehard unionist I suspect. Even my wife, who takes little interest in politic, has noticed the bias in their reporting.

Ken whit I was one of the people who were sent to A@E last week. Seen within five minutes In a bed within twenty minutes and being treated with the drugs needed. In the five minutes I waited five others were assessed. Only one other patient was behind me. The efficiency at Ayr A@E was beyond excellent.

By accident I caught the beginning of BBC’s main news at 6pm tonight. First we got some sort of truth about how the (English) health service was struggling through the flu crisis. People dying in hospital corridors etc. This was followed by blatant lies about the SNHS and how it was in a worse state than in England. The Welsh NHS got much the same treatment.
The English people can never be allowed to find out the truth about how badly they are served by their politicians, and every device must be used to prevent that from happening. If they ever did find out the truth, a lot of things might start to unravel. They might even end up with a better government. Meanwhile we are being used as whipping boys to make May and co. look less bad than they are.

However the thought had already occurred to me when I first saw the page that there may be one truth for the internet (which can readily be fact-checked via sites like this) and another “truth” for TV viewers who have to be kept on board for the Union and who will not readily have access to alternate sources. Distortion by omission if nothing worse.

Which may or may not be the case – the only current evidence clearly shows that even in an unprecedented situation, where the current year’s ‘flu jag is rather more ineffective than is usually the case, the system, albeit with a great deal of heroic efforts by our wonderful SNHS staff, coped very well indeed.
I am classed as vulnerable, and have not suffered the ‘flu for decades because of the jag, yet I caught the ‘flu this year. I was in quite dire straits but toughed it out rather than bother the SNHS or local GP during the Winter Festival.
Such ‘flu epidemics are unlikely to again be problematic for several more decades. The fact is the SG is funded by a Barnet calculated Block Grant but they are not forced to spend that portion calculated by the Barnet Formula on the SNHS. They choose to spend quite a bit more than that allotted sum on the SNHS. They are, though, restrained by the, extremely unfair to Scotland, Barnet Formula.
Do not be fooled by Westminster claims that Scots get extra per capita funding. Any unionist who claims this claptrap is either a deliberate liar or ignorant of what the Barnet Formula is designed to do – and it sure as hell is not rocket science to understand.
Quite simply when Westminster
decidedwas forced to grant devolution to the four countries of the United Kingdom it was, even in concept, a wrong idea as the United Kingdom is legally composed of only two Kingdoms and the Kingdom of England itself contained three distinct countries. So the UK is legally a bipartite union of kingdoms, (as its name asserts).However, Westminster decided to split the two kingdom partnership along the lines of countries instead of the actual component kingdoms. Furthermore, they were stupid enough to think that the United Kingdom was a unified Country – arrant nonsense because it is obviously called a Kingdom.
Anyhow they decided to only devolve three countries of the four – this indicates their idiocy believing the United Kingdom was the country of England renamed – it isn’t. So, in effect they were setting up Westminster as the de facto parliament of the Country of England and thus devolving the sovereign powers of England, that Westminster doesn’t legally have to the three other countries of the United KINGDOM.
What is more they decided that each devolved administration should have different things devolved to each of them but, of course there was no devolved powers for England because, (in their minds), the UK was England.
Now ask yourself wherefrom were these powers being devolved to three of the four countries? The answer is they were functions of the United Kingdom Government. i.e. from Westminster Ministries and you cannot devolve a ministerial function without also devolving the funds from the Westminster Ministry to run the function.

This is the meaning in Scotland. In England the clock goes on when you arrive and then once you have been assessed, if you are being admitted, another clock is then started wile you are waiting on a trolley- so you could be on a trolley for 8 or more hours after having waited for 4 hours at A and E but their figure would not show that as a breach of the 4 hour target.
Whereas in Scotland one clock starts when you arrive and the whole process should be completed within the 4 hours and you be discharged or admitted within the target time.
Definitely comparing Apples and Pears.

North Chiel 11th 2:33 – you have hit the nail on the head re pension provision. Most of the “developed” world are in pension deficit with Uk being one of the largest, until we tackle public sector pensions this will not go away.
All non public sector workers are now being pushed into company schemes which at current rates for the majority will not even echieve the state pension provision. Public sector Penisons on the other hand are generous in that regard. I don’t begrudge the majority of public sector pensions their pensions but we need to look at the bigger picture – Denmark bit the bullet three decades ago and everyone gets the same pension provision – their pension provisions are in surplus!
Meanwhile our parliamentarians across the UK inc the Scottish Govt have superb pension provision that most of us would have to work over a hundred years to get anywhere near their pension payout.
Time for a party to take a hard look at themselves first and start revising Pensions for the good of society and not just the few.

So when I saw the reserves I was blind to the “USD” in the column on tradingeconomics, just saw Czech Republic and converted its koruna reserves which weren’t denominated in koruna at all!

Bottom line is they certainly do not appear to act as ALL the public’s fourth estate or watchdog. For all the world, it appears they act as such only for some.

I would guess that would be at least in part due to the part-privatisation and infestation with PFIs has gone a lot less further in the North than in the South/London. Why do people wait hours for ambulances for non emergencies. Then complaining. Instead of taking the person in a taxi or a car. If the Hospital is not too far away, If they believe they need urgent treatment. If they think it is an emergency. Or wait for a G Doc extra cover appointment. The experts get together every year and pick the strain of Flu most likely to cause an epidemic, they make a vaccination ,thats how it is picked , it is not guaranteed to be the correct vaccine for whatever strain is prevelent in our Country. I presume it could be that without the vaccinations we would be in the middle of a major pandemic or that the strain has mutated and the vaccine does not work for the latter. Time will tell when they do the analysis.

It’s not rude, but it is disruptive. The BBC have two choices, they either answer your question (because you don’t let up on it) or they stop interviewing SNP figures for stories and their claim of impartiality soon falls flat and they have a major problem.
When you are on the air, you own that 10 second clip. It is your’s to use. That’s a fundamental shift in perspective and thinking. Therefore, common sense dictates that you would give a 10 second answer to any question given, because thats all the BBC will broadcast.
Nicola Sturgeon did this once. After Alex Salmond had his interview with Andre Neil, the one on EU advice not being released where Neil talked all over him, Nicolas Sturgeon then did an interview with Gordon Brewer some days late and just talked all over his questions. The sound mix was a nightmare because the BBC desperately tried to edit is to look like a ‘normal’ interview, which it wasn’t. It was utterly glorious.
More of this please. Stop playing their game because that helps no-one, it only reinforces their position.

For example I would reply, “Aye”, if answering in the affirmative then walk to the teacher’s high chair with hand outstretched for the inevitable punishment.
I often also waited for the dominie to yell at me to come and be punished and on being called would reply, “Aye! Aye!, Sir. Thus rubbing in the fact that the expression was indeed part of the English lexicon.
So just what do the EU/EC mean?
They mean that either the United Kingdom accept all of the EU treaty as is or they reject it altogether. i.e. they either remain or leave without any form of deal.

As I said earlier in this thread, I can confirm that there are currently 3 strains of Flu identified at Raigmore Hospital , Inverness. Flu victims are both members of the public and members of NHS staff.

This is only a guess but I don’t see the Norwegians getting too cuddly with the UK knowing that a pro vote on Scottish independence would see a more convenient strategic and logistical deal for Scotland and Norway and subsequently the EU, plus the EU wont want to give the UK easy back door access to undermine EU trade
But as I say, a guess, my knowledge of International trade is as thin as the next guys plus I also feel that much of what happens post Brexit (should it happen) will be as much governed by personalities and bruised egos even if they don’t own up to them
There is quite a strong feeling in Europe amongst the public and some politicians that they want to kick England rather hard when they’re down and keep them that way till they learn some manners Angela Merkel and Macron for two, and they’re the big dogs in Europe
If that’s the case all I can say is, it’s about time somebody did and maybe over time the English voter will start to get a grip of what useless articles are leading them by the nose and follow Scotlands example of how to do proper democracy where the government serves the people and not the other way round

The flu jab doses not affect some strains of flu, It does not mitigate all/new strains that come along. That is why more people can get flu despite an increased up take of flu jab. The ‘crisis’ will subside because the Doctor’s surgeries are now in full operation. Not shut. Return to more normality.

I haven’t had the flu jab and am okay, but I know people who have had it and feel some symptoms of the flu.

One of them is a woman who has had it before christmas, and has tried everything, her doctor won’t give her
antibiotics as its a virus.
Hopefully she recovers from it soon.

eg vote ‘yes’ for this agreement
vote ‘no’ for a hard brexit
If the leavers are foolish enough to campaign for a Euroref2 to speed up exiting, there’s no way the remainers will meekly pass up the chance to have a ‘leave or stay’ option in there.
And if the remainers win out, the ‘change of circumstances’ justification for indyref2 goes out the window.

UK ‘Democracy’. The UK must be the most undemcratic country in the developed world, certainly in the EU.
It as always surprised me that the EU allowed such a poor level of democracy with a member.
The antiquated FPTP system allows governments to gain a majority of seats with only ~35% of the vote. And individual MPs to be elected with ~25% of the vote.
The configuration within the HoC NEVER reflects the expressed will of voters. (The LibDem-Con coalition could be said to represent a majority of voters. However no LibDem policies were actually implemented.)
Power is always wielded by an unrepresentative minority.
Then there is the ‘minor’ issue of clerics having guaranteed seats. Only Iran also has such a legislature.

It was a comparison between “Home counties”/London and other regions. The regions will have their problems but I’m guessing won’t have gone as far down the road of PFI/privatisation. Could be wrong but it seems an obvious reason to me. Of course all parts of the UK including Scotland have the common problem of the voodoo economic strategy of austerity which is damaging all the public services.

Our mandate is clearly about a change of our position in the Union.
We have already had that.
Scotland voted differently in the EU referendum and no accommodation was made by Westminster to reflect how we voted.
The 1998 Scotland act which gave us Devolution has already been changed to allow Westminster to alter the concept that whatever is not specifically retained is devolved.

When we originally voted in 2014 watering down the 1998 act wasn’t ever imagined it was done as a result of the following Brexit vote…..QED…the circumstances have indeed changed.
But what I can see is Westminster holding another Brexit vote to try to prevent Indy ref 2, before the next Holyrood election.
Their last card to play to try and keep Scotland,Christ even Farage is on board wi the notion.
He is even tap dancing around the justification for running another vote …..why would he do that when after it making his life’s work to get a leave vote and he won it so narrowly?

When people talk about an EURef to test the deal they always mean ‘deal or no deal’ choice. I assume this is what Adonis means. Which is Bad Leave versus Bloody Awful Leave. A stitch up designed to get the deal accepted.
RE: A second EU Ref
The damage constitutionally and economically has already been done. Say, through some minor miracle, one came about? The UK could never enjoy the opt outs it originally had and that is if the EU agree to the UK reversing its decision to trigger A50. This isn’t about what a UK parliament decides it wants to do anymore. Not extensions to negotiations, outcomes from same, or indeed a UK decision to call the whole thing off in a panic. The EU itself requires to be consulted at every step of the way and permissions sought.
So far as Scotland’s electorate is concerned, this is a referendum, a scenario that should never have occurred in the first place. Scotland’s electorate were categorically ensured continued EU membership only in event of a NO vote in its own 2014 indyref. Instead, an EU ref was forced on a nation partner which near instantly threatened a constitutional crisis. The vote of Scots, the assurances and guarantees given in 2014 didn’t mean a damn to the power struggles within the Westminster party system. Those guarantees and assurances disappeared like sna aff a wa’ as soon as those pricks thought Scotland’s electorate had been stuck back in their box.
They didn’t give a shit about consequences for the populations of these islands, only what benefits in power and wealth could be achieved for their own agendas and demographics. The UK is a political laughing stock right now, an economic disaster happening in slow motion. Careers are being measured in soundbites and gaffs and THOSE are the only things bringing even the suggestion of a second EU ref out of the cupboard. Regard for the effects on the wider populations of these islands should have been a consideration long before Cameron shot himself and everyone else in the foot.
Today? It’s not a matter of wiping away the damage and going back to square one. Damage has been done both at home and internationally. Whatever comes next is about damage limitation.

A Question that has been annoying me for a while , after all the years this site and other INDY supporting sites have been running , a theme that keeps reoccurring is the media in Scotland and the obvious one sided support for the Union ,
Yet until a week ago with the green ink revelations I haven’t came across any insider information regarding the operation of this media , these operations are run by ordinary people , and unless every staff member is a dyed in the wool British nationalist with a deep hatred for independence which is difficult to believe ,
where are the revelations of misdeeds and dodgy behaviour , the same goes for government departments such as Job Centre Plus , Inland Revenue etc work is going on in the background to prevent any second referendum , people have information how is this being hidden , are the people involved so scared that the don’t dare reveal anything , or these establishments full of people very carefully vetted and chosen to keep quiet .
If it’s the case that the heads of departments are in place to actively thwart the Scottish government in its ambitions of independence I think the SNP have missed the boat in making attempts to remove these obstacles a brief glance of who heads important organisations in Scotland gives the game away .

However, if our FM sets a date then the unionists have a target& timetable and a general election could be another option for them. My thinking is for our FM to call a “ snap “ 2nd vote at the appropriate time and ahead of any 2nd EU vote . There could be 2 questions on the ballot 1. Of course I have no idea where this gentleman may have slipped on ice, could have been anywhere in the UK I suppose.
However that particular Xmas Eve the weather station at Edinburgh airport recorded the highest temperature at that location since 1998. The max was 12 degrees and the min 10 degrees. The whole story sounds like made up bollocks.

Referendums are tricky things at the best of times, with all sorts of undercurrents that can sometimes even swamp the nominal issue. Although proposals for the old chestnut of some kind of multi-question referendum are usually well-intentioned, as I imagine yours is, it just isn’t possible to settle all outstanding issues in one fell swoop like that. Politics is rarely that neat. Instead it simply multiplies the complexity by adding unnecessary secondary distractions. Some people get bothered about one aspect, others get diverted over another. The result is a fatal loss of focus.
In the case of independence, it offers a field day for the a la carte brigade, whose declared support for indy is suspiciously conditional on one thing or another. The old “divide-and-conquer” ploy given full rein.
There’s only one issue without which everything else has no effect whatsoever. And we all know what that is.
In any case, it would be incumbent on any new government of an independent Scotland to fully explore all available options, including ongoing membership of the EU in our own right. It wouldn’t need our explicit permission to do so.
It may however be expedient to promise in IR2 that the results of such negotiations would be put to the sovereign people of Scotland in a referendum before any agreement with the EU were concluded.
(It would also be fair, even if arguably somewhat premature, given the rabid BritNat press propaganda we’ve been subjected to for decades.)

I think Sarah Smith and her crack team of BBC investigative journalists are at this moment checking out the veracity of “broken ankle man’s” claims.
I broke my ankle way back and it was the worst pain I had ever felt. It was sounded like the snapping a pencil and then having a bolt fired up through the roof of my head.
There is no way I could have gone a week hobbling around without having treatment.
There are just 14 Health Boards in Scotland and every visit to A&E is recorded of course and entered into a database.
It would take mere minutes to check if his claims are true that he attended on Boxing Day. The receptionist who allegedly told him of an 8 hour wait and that his “ankle probably wasn’t broken” would have done nothing of the kind before taking his name, address and DOB first.
That’s how it’s done, Shona Robison should have someone check these claims which would be very easy to do unless Sarah Smith beats her to it and reveals all on Reporting Scotland first.
