If only the liberal democrats branch office in Scotland had a different stance on the unwanted, outdated, undemocratic and harmful union with England, Mr Cole-Hamilton, could have been part of Sturgeons ‘not-a-coalition’ coalition with the loony-left ‘greens’.

A pretendy ‘government’ for the masses, doing nothing of much use to anybody, playing pretendy political games, with silly ‘student union’ style virtue-signalling policies nobody asked for, while London f***s Scotland sideways 24/7.

Meanwhile, in the real world, only ONE political party in Scotland will be debating INDEPENDENCE at its conference, and that is ALBA.

I suspect that certain people are preparing the ground for a volte face to swing in behind Queen Nicola now that the golden Indy carrot has been deployed again.

Vaccines are vital but a free society should never compel its citizens to receive medical treatment. If you restrict the freedom of those who haven’t had it, you’re compelling them.”

    https://twitter.com/agcolehamilton/status/1435996857604485126

So presumably this would extend to not compelling parents who want to refuse life saving medical treatment to their children on religious or other grounds?

He’d also be sanguine about some modern day Typhoid Mary not being compelled to have treatment or to be isolated on the same grounds, irrespective of the dangers posed to others?

It’s about time Chris Cairns had a go at Holyrood’s management of the Scottish NHS. One way of looking at it is it’s not just the SNP’s fault, it is all of Holyrood’s fault. The other way of looking at it is it’s not just Holyrood’s fault, it’s Nicola Sturgeon’s fault.

The story is told by the statistics. Over the course of the last 10-years, Scotland has invested far less in the NHS than any other home Nation, including NI. When this goes-on for a year or two, problems can open-up. When it goes-on for 10-years, the service lurches towards collapse.

What has gone unnoticed by the Scottish press is that Westminster is going to start funding the NHS itself. When you spend £300m on two ferries that are only worth £80m, that money has to come from somewhere and one of the places is the NHS.

Along with education (now in the hands of Shirley-Ann Somerville) and law (now in the hands of Keith Brown) we have the NHS now in the hads of Humza Yousaf. Now would be a good time to get yourself out of Scotland. That’ a choice not open to everyone of course but, if you have the choice, I would leave now.

Alba, once they worked out framework policies to get to a plebicite/UDI on Independence, should consider asking the public who in large numbers voted for Independence once in a referendum, whether their beliefs have been full filled by the procrastination’s of the SNP, not just during that referendum, but also in the following years when they actively suppressed debate on Independence at their conferences.

I would say that those who believed in Independence then, still do at heart and they can still support a party that really wants to move towards it, with or without clause 30 or a referendum.

Alba could try and meet up with EU representatives and see what feedback there is for their plans and policies vis a vis to ‘nothing much here’ on the ruling SNP/Green coalition.

COP 26 will further open peoples eyes as to the reluctance and sheer ignorance of the Westminster lead towards a more sustainable future, when Scotland has many opportunities to go ahead with green innovation and something akin to a common weal green deal NOW, rather than dancing to some arbitrary future date/goal promised by those who have failed since the 1970’s to introduce incremental annual steps to change our polluting habits.

Lets not wait for Independence and change from those who failed to move, if you want to see a future for Scotland’s young generations, acting now is not prohibited, yet.

Alba can be the party that does work together with local citizen assemblies, they can remind people that Independence from England is more than just a belief, that it is still in their hearts and minds.

Much thanks to Chris for his apt cartoon…..lost parties/dinosaurs will have to die out before something suitable emerges.

@Ruby – When the NHS waiting list was 85,000, Nicola Sturgeon stood up in Holyrood and said it was a humiliation for Scotland. The NHS waiting list is now 600,000 and was 450,000 before the pandemic. It was in the news yesterday that an OAP waited for 22-hours on an ambulance. The NHS has become like education and the law in Scotland. People laugh at you when you speak about Scottish law nowadays, but when the same thing happens to education and the NHS, then it’s time to leave. You can stay ‘and fight’ if you want and there’s nothing stopping you.

What’s the problem? Why is this happening year on year? I don’t know if you remember the Chilcot Inquiry into the Iraq war? The day it was published, Robin Cook started reading it and stayed-up all night so that he was ready to question the then PM in the morning (it was either Blair or Brown). He was brutal and his questions were so incisive they just couldn’t be answered. That happened at Westminster. Would that happen at Holyrood? Is Humza Yousaf not more pre-occupied with the alleged racial stereotyping that’s going-on at Little Scholars Nursery School than he is with getting to grips with the Scottish NHS. If he finds Health too complex, as he found law too complex, why doesn’t he just resign?

I’d happily watch them drop molten lava on anti-vaxxers if there was a compelling enough, life-saving, argument for doing so.

The truth is the passports won’t make a bit of difference. Delta is running riot now, and nothing can stop it. As we go into winter and the weather deteriorates, and all the colleges as universities go back, etc., we are going to see an explosion of cases. So reminiscent of the 1920s and 30s and the late 1800s when Scotland was losing almost 10% of its population every decade, and continuing on from the pointless destruction and removal of much of the Scottish male population in 1914-18.

Anyone who has put themselves forward as some kind of concerned civil rights defender or Scottish patriot, or would-be political leader who haven’t yet expressed heavy concerns with what is happening around government measures with Covid (rather than covid itself) sits somewhere on the scale from being out of touch, uninformed and incompetent all the way to being either actually totally unconcerned with human rights or is simply compromised and establishment owned.

Never say never, but the SNP’s problems all stem from Sturgeon’s weak and ineffective non-leadership. That’s been an open door for exploitation and infiltration, compounded by the same weak leadership’s inability to reign in that very interference. The supply teacher wasn’t up to the job and the “kids” have run riot ever since.

I actually think Sturgeon is about as genuine and sincere about GRA reform as she was once “genuine” about Scottish Independence. She’s a shape shifter, and I would not trust her “genuine” slant on pretty much anything.

But I don’t think ALBA will be anything like as gullible as Sturgeon’s SNP. I think their vetting will be a lot more diligent, and tolerance for distraction will not make it through the mesh.

I actually think Alex Salmond will try to repeat the YES formula of 2014, he’ll embrace reconciliation and strive to make YES 2021 as positive and as broad a Kirk as possible, but within that broad Kirk, I think insubordinate disrupters will find it hard to get any purchase. Alex Salmond will prove yet again what a canny strategist he is.

I think the biggest problem on the horizon is the asinine petulance of the SNP, when the likes of Pete Wishart are too stupid to realise the SNP has lost control, and start their tedious sniping entitled whining.

Even with ALBA prioritising the Constitution and Sovereignty, there will still be democratic issues to be addressed. There are Local Council Elections next year, and it’s likely that those elections might be the only way for ALBA to flex some muscle and further establish momentum and legitimacy democratically, and unfortunately, I think the SNP will relish the job of trying to wreck that the same way they put the boot in to ALBA’s List Party Strategy.

In short, I think we grassroots Independentists have about a year to kill or cure the SNP, boot Sturgeon into orbit, and see whether the SNP has any contribution to make to help, not hinder, the ALBA / Salmond strategy, and help knocking Scotland into shape and braced for a Plebiscite UK General Election in 2022/3.

It’s possible, (bearing mind a lot could change quickly), that the most influential people in Scottish Politics these next 12 months might be the Joanna Cherry’s, Angus MacNeils, and Philippa Whitfords, who now constitute the “sensible fringe group” still inside the SNP. Even if the SNP can’t be persuaded to back ALBA, hopefully they can be persuaded to keep their traps shut and hold in their venom while ALBA try’s to extricate Scotland and Scottish Independence from Sturgeon’s incompetent disaster.

The SNP I fear will remain dysfunctional until it comes under new management, and that, I suspect, is why certain people are staying put in the SNP.

A second danger is Boris Johnson and the Westminster Establishment realising Sturgeon is damaged goods, and seeing that her corrupt SNP has divided the Independence Community. A canny gambler like Boris Johnson could call Sturgeon’s bluff and agree to a snap IndyRef when the Independence Community is acrimoniously fighting with itself. In other words, give Sturgeon a referendum when she is more than likely to lose it. I think this possibility is unlikely, but the odds could increase markedly once Westminster recognises the much more potent threat of ALBA’s Plebiscite General Election.

Could that also mean that the source of our current political direction is not in fact the current SNP government but is a much broader effort to influence politics?

    Well, yes and no.

Do I think there’s a global phenomenon, call it Capitalism, Neo-Liberalism, Disaster Capitalism? Yes, without any doubt, there is a phenomenon, but it’s pretty elusive ethereal, and there’s a massive overlap which includes more basic “greeds” like exploitation, colonialism, and ahem, “influence”. Where does one stop and another start?

But these “greeds” can be kept in check, at least to a degree. Most countries have a degree of sophistication which defends them from exploitation.

The problem is where a country is vulnerable, whether it’s government is disrupted by war for example, or where a nation’s government has become corrupt, or is gullible and weak, that these “greeds” can sniff out an opportunity to exploit that weakness.

There’s a parasitic element to the exploitation. Make their job easy, and the parasites move in, in strength. Show them a government which is strong and resolute, and the parasites will keep looking for a softer target.

Believe it or not, I watched The Cheviot, The Stag, and The Black, Black Oil a few days ago, and it struck me how crass the American Oil Companies were to Scottish workers. On one rig, one of the roughnecks explained the men were expected to work 12 hours on and 12 hours off, but simply lie down on the deck to go to sleep. Somehow, I can’t see Norwegian workers being treated like that. (Though maybe they were).

It’s not black and white either. I think sometimes there is a code of dishonour between these rogues and parasites, where the rogues in one country will respect the territory of rogues in another country.

But where a country has no rogues to defend itself, it becomes prey to both hostiles. Like espionage for example. There might be a stand-off where two nations agree not to spy on each other, but where, in Scotland’s case, Scotland has no security service to protect it’s interests, hostile influences will have free reign. This often end up with proxy wars, where for example Communism would fund one movement in a third country while the West would back another, and the poor country is squeezed in the middle.

Say for example big Pharma from the US is the driving force behind all the transgender bullshit, do you honestly the UK Security Services are going to interfere when a weak and feckless Scottish Administration is crucified for it’s naivety and gullibility? Within reason, I believe they’d sit back and let it happen.

Bearing in mind the SNP is seen as hostile by the UK Government, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if these big Pharma rogues and parasites were even given a push in the right direction… but that’s tin foil hat conspiracy speculation. It’s not speculation however to observe that Scotland has zero protection in place to defend itself from exploitation from within the UK.

I appreciate the answer however I find it insufficient to explain the US, Canada, NZ, Australia and many states in Europe having a very similar approach to the transgender issue and other critical theory inspired dogma.

They have adopted the Multicultural TM, Diversity TM, Inclusivity TM brands while approaching the immigration issue with open borders and harsh reactions to critics.

I would also repeat that based on these, and other, similarities I was able to call out the SNP before anybody else on this blog and I was right about how they would use ‘woke’ policies to split the independence support and cause infighting – at a time when only a minority had even some slight doubts about Sturgeon.

My position was that the major parties are basically on the same side – which is observable in that if I had been Scottish Conservative leader (for example) in the last election I pretty much could have sunk the SNP in 1 week by focusing hard on the their policies and strongly opposing them. Which never happened. The narrative was always ‘oppose independence’, never much word about ‘oppose the stripping of womens rights’ on campaign material.

When a parliament builds walls around its leaders then that is the start of the end.

Soon it will be armed protection. Blacked out cars. A ring of steel wherever the leaders go, for they and the people can not meet. No longer part of the people and with a police force to keep people away from them, people will come to despise and hate their political class.

But will it keep them safe. Well I for one very much doubt it because they will need police protection all of the time. And their are now noises about arming the police with side arms.

This is a very sad development.

And looking not so far back, someone else who was very unpopular once had a lucky escape and to which the perpetrators said that they had been unlucky this time, but that she needs to be lucky all the time.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed Nicola Sturgeon seems a bit more serious about Scottish Independence recently?

I smell the aroma of rodent. In fact…

Mark my words, Nicola will BIG UP her profile (and costs) relating to IndyRef
2 for ONE REASON and one reason only.

When Portly Murrell has his collar felt by a police officer for alleged clandestine possession/misuse of £600,000 in money that does not belong to him or his wife, Nicola needs to point to the (inflated) £600,000 that her dodgy accountants will say has been spent on “ringfenced” YES IndyRef2 matters during this year.

Anyone else smell the same rat with Sturgeon’s newly reinvigorated APPEARANCE of her being an IndyRef2 supporter following 7 years of ignoring IndtRef2?

By the time a senior cop at Polis Scotland either grows a spine or realises they are in line for charges of malfeasance in public office, Teflon Turd-geon will have her alibi ready.

In the words the dodgy lawyer who has been over-promoted to the position of our current First Minister, Sturdgeon will say (with a brass-neck) that the £600,000 was spent this year on the ring-fenced items and that neither she nor Pot-Bellied Murrell are guilty of anything.

NICOLA WILL BLUSTER… “NO CASE TO ANSWER”.

Hopefully before the crapola hits the fanola of those £600,000 fan-blades, enough folk will have finally seen through Sturgeon and see her for the narcissistic power-mad psychopathic nut job she actually is.

By that point, the MEDIA BLACKOUT that tried to kill off the…

It only reinforces my long held belief that he’s a no-mark who has managed to get where he is because the LD’s have such a limited talent pool.

How could any reasonable person not see the potential conflict of interest involved when one of the complainers contacted you personally, or feel that it was your place – never mind appropriate – to provide support to one of them?

It simply demonstrates that the process itself was deeply flawed. The inquiry should have been independent and judge-led: the involvement of SNP and unionist MSPs who were politically (and you have to suspect personally) hostile to Alex Salmond was bad enough, but this revelation is just astounding. At HOOP we defied Westminster believing that they were the threat to Scotland’s Parliament and her Independence.

We made a ring around the building to keep Westminster out.

Little did we realise that the real enemy was already inside our Parliament.

But on another plain of existence, look at the state of this lowlife trying to get himself some publicity and repeat the smears against Alex Salmond. ..https://archive.is/9sxBh#selection-1553.158-1559.209

“It was high pressure. I mean, it took up so much oxygen, so much time. But also, I’d been supporting a complainer privately who approached me, and I could see what every twist and turn of it was doing to her.”

What, for the love of fk, was a member of a Parliamentary Inquiry doing “supporting a complainer privately”? Jesus wept, these cretins have the integrity of worms, but lack their intellect.

They are also as spineless as worms. They do lack their intellect and also the capacity of the worm to increase the value of the soil once they have digested and excreted it. Does this negate the whole inquiry?

Sadly Cole -Hamilton appeared, at some points, to be one of the better members of that committee.
It is interesting that the whole of Holyrood seems to know who these women are and yet the hoi poloi – who found Mr Salmond innocent of the accusations made by these women – are not allowed to be told. These ‘servants’ of the people are, in fact, the controllers of all lies.

The article is targeted against ALBA this week-end. But I think, yet again, it will prove to be another own goal and Mr Salmond is revealed, yet again, to be the man who has been sinned against.

Alex is rightly leaving the backstairs folk to create their own downfall. His patience and goodwill towards Scotland and her people appears to have no limits

Someone I know was an annual Burns Supper speaker. He is very popular & much in demand for his wit and repartee and has spoken at Burns Suppers throughout Scotland. I met him a few weeks ago at my sister’s house. He advised he will no longer be doing any Burns Suppers for fear of the SNP’s Hate Bill. He advised that most other Burns Supper speakers are following suit. They are worried that anyone can complain to the polis, if they were even slightly ‘offended’ by what was said at a Supper, and the speakers would be invited to attend the local polis and end up in the Sheriff Court. What a state the SNP have made of Scotland! Only ever voted SNP apart from Alba which had my 2nd Holyrood this year. From now on, it will only be Alba. SNP MSPs & MPs have decided their wage packets weigh more heavily on their minds than Independence. I can’t even bear to listen to Sturgeon or Blackford on the TV anymore & switch off. Scotland is in a Slough of Political Despond which won’t change for the next 2 years. I don’t even like talking about politics anymore. What is the point? Until the majority of SNP voters realise the great leader is leading them up the garden path, my despair will continue. I just get so angry at the wasted years of destruction. We should be independent by now. All those SNP MPs should hang their heads in shame. They care more for their cushy lifestyle while their countrymen & women are destroyed by the Toris in the English Parliament.

Too right Grouser @10.44. The new legislation to create exclusion zones around Hollyrood will be used against people lawfully trying to assemble or march in protest.

But the law is already being used against opposition. Yes we all know about Alex Salmond, Mark Hirst and Craig Murray. But less know about Sean Clerkenwell who received a dawn raid at his house in Barrhead weeks after he had stood in sole protest outside Glasgow airport decrying English immigration. Seems he was contravening local by laws not to advertise in the vicinity of the airport.

Or Manny Singh jailed for a month. And his Crime was to organise and agree arrangements with the Police for one of Scotland’s biggest ever marches for thereafter the SNP councillors requiring at short notice an earlier start which would have disrupted and indeed precluded people from all over Scotland travelling to attend the 10.00am kick off. And his punishment for allowing the perfectly peaceful and fully agreed and stewarded March to proceed – was prosecution and a month in Barlinnie.

And Marion Millar, an independence supporter and women’s rights activist. What is her prosecution about. The police and prosecution boots are now well established and stamping on faces.

Sturgeon may be building her wall, but she will I suspect need her wall, twenty four hours a day, day after day. This is no longer consensual governance by people elected to represent the people. Sturgeon is a bad nasty egg. Her coterie are exactly the same and they are playing with fire.

If Sturgeon, her minions and her London masters’ useful idiots operating inside HOlyrood are so desperate to create a sound muffling barrier to protect Sturgeon’s fabricated image from the protests she caused with her foul policies and inactions, this can only mean one thing:

Those protests have just become far too loud for her and her London masters to ignore.

Clearly the message this new rushed ruling is sending is:

“we know we can no longer silence you, so we are pushing you back, far enough to muffle your voice so we can continue pretending to the rest of the world, and specially to ourselves, you are not shouting”.

That seems the action of a coward who cannot possibly face being made accountable for the responsibility of causing those protests to emerge in the first place. To have 2 greens and a tory doing the dirty work in order to protect the image of a failed pretend pro indy leader, makes this whole thing look even more pathetic.

That the excuse for this ruling is to bring Holyrood “to the standard of Westminster”, when this failed pretend pro indy leader and the Greens should be pushing hard to separate Holyrood from Westminster instead of bringing them close, tells you all what you need to know about the commitment of the SNP and the Greens’ to real autonomy and independence for Scotland.

That it is 2 greens and one SNP in cahoots with one tory who passed this, is to me yet another wonderful symptom that the idea Scotland is represented by different political parties is and has always been an illusion. All of them appear to be part of the same team: the political group against Scotland’s independence, against Scotland’s voice, against Scotland’s interests, against distancing Holyrood from Westminster.

It is more clear than ever that if Sturgeon survives as leader of the SNP and FM when she has under her belt 7 years of failed leadership, failed autonomy progress, failed to protect Scotland’s rights, assets and sovereignty, failing spectacularly to respect democracy and the right to self determination and, by the look of it, using her power to shut dissent, it is because all the other “parties” and the apparatus of the British state are working really hard and together to continuously wash her political image and keep her where she is.

It is beginning to be clear that these people do not see Holyrood as Scotland’s parliament. They see it as the ultimate bunker where they will hide to avoid listening to the masses they are expected to represent, when putting their fingers on their ears no longer does the job. It seems they see it as the building that will legitimise their foul actions when these are done deliberately against the interests and the will of the people of Scotland.

It seems that under Sturgeon, Holyrood can no longer pretend it is Scotland’s parliament anymore. Under her it has clearly become another branch of Westminster’s Secretary of State in Scotland.

By the look of it, the Greens are already busy at they new role as Sturgeon’s official airbrushers. Today they were helping to airbrush legitimate protesters from Holyrood’s papers so she does not have to listen to their complaints, and her London masters can pretend she is still liked. I wonder when the Greens will start scrubbing from Holyrood and Scotland’s courts all the political dirt Sturgeon has invested 7 years in spilling.

I believe the only way forward is for all the facts of the ‘Salmond Affair’ to be made public to reach the very much wider population than followers of these blogs.

To have any validity this must be done via a legal route, not by release of information on overseas internet sites or by (mis)using Parliamentary Privilege.

I have spent many hours pondering how this could be done. I seem to recall Gordon Dangerfield recommending this route, and I believe Craig Murray was pursuing it before his incarceration.

This is of such importance it should not be left to an individual to take on, particularly if the individual was close to the matter such as Alex Salmond or Craig.

My consideration of such possibilities as Judicial Review or Officium Nobile have not been particularly productive, and I am rather too old and poor (don’t mention the word ‘wee’ or I’ll have to go) to go campaigning on such a battle, but there must be sufficient interest in at least exploring the legal route, if there is one, to reveal what has gone on.

I have written this following the revelation of the member of the Fabiani that he was not independent because of his position with one of the complainants. Did he tell the other members of this relationship? Were other members giving support to other complainants?

At the very least one member has shown he was ‘tainted by bias’
by his own admission, although he doesn’t seem to understand the impropriety of what he has done. If this has tainted the whole committee, especially if they knew about his relationship with this complainant, it looks like there may be a legal route here to explore.

In my area they meet up to do this thing called “park run” — why do they need to do stuff like that in big gangs? — which results in all sorts of disruption and mayhem for the rest of us.

You’d struggle to find a more miserly, cowardly, shallow, and selfish bunch of people than Scotland’s middle classes.

If that’s what aspirational working class people are supposed to aim for, you can stick the whole idea of social mobility right up your woke backsides.

And I still don’t know what a “boom restriction” is.

‘as we all bump our gums worthlessly on forums such as this. We are, and I include myself in this but a shower of talking heads.’

Ive been meeting people for a wee while in the real world. Mainly based around strengthening communities v covid bullshit but other things do come up. Been finding local businesses who are on our side and pooling talent.

I highly recommend others who are reading from the same page as me regarding covid do the same – find a group or make a group. Whatever. You will generally find it highly rewarding and it will become necessary for you to have a support network if things continue much further.

I can also add my opinion online.

I agree. If Scots supporters of Indy no longer understand about freedom, no wonder the movement has stalled.

If I had posted here, back in September 2019, that within two years we would all need a certificate of good health to go to the pub, anybody who bothered to respond would have called me crazy.

If I had gone further and claimed that the majority of the loudest posters BTL here would be strongly in favour of this policy, then the howls of outrage would have been deafening.

That’s the problem with resorting to calling people crazy. The definition of what is sane and what is not changes over time. And sometimes quite rapidly.

It’s the number of times you can play the ‘Venga Boys’ before you’re told to ‘fuck right off’ ready of not.

Too many school boy errors in his last post for anyone to take this troll seriously.

Three responses from you in one day, and this thread is not even current!

And not for the first time, complements mixed in with the insults. I guess if that’s worked for you in the past … ?

OK, I might be interested, but I’m looking for something long term.
