The Days Of No Good Choices
There are now just 10 days until the general election. Wings has never told its readers how to vote and we’re not going to start now. Which is lucky, because if we were, we wouldn’t have a clue how to.
Just, y’know, not for any of these wretched, worthless shiters.
Because beyond any shadow of a doubt, if you have the slightest interest in ever achieving Scottish independence, the worst thing you could possibly do at this election is vote for anyone in the SNP.
That much is a given, and if you’re reading this website you’re not going to need any further explanation. To vote for the SNP this year is to vote to delay any advancement of the indy cause for at least another decade.
But as for the best WAY to not vote for the SNP, that’s a much trickier pickle for which we have no easy answers. There are a few options, but none of them are very great, so let’s have a quick walk through the pros and cons of each.
—————————————————————
VOTING FOR UNIONISTS
This is, for obvious reasons, the least palatable option for indy fans, but also by far the most effective way to get rid of the SNP, which is the prerequisite for any progress towards independence. As such it’s a long-term strategy with multiple short- and medium-term downsides – you’ll almost certainly have an imbecile for an MP for the next five years, for a start. (But probably no change there.)
Scottish Labour in particular have tried their damnedest to make voting for them completely impossible for independence supporters, and there is no force on Earth which could ever make this site suggest to anyone that they should consider voting for Blair McDougall under any circumstances whatever.
But in other seats the best-placed challenger may be relatively bearable, or at least no worse than whichever awful SNP dolt is currently in place. If you’re unlucky enough to live in East Renfrewshire, maybe best just to move house.
[EDIT: Colette Walker of the ISP is standing in East Ren. She’s good people.]
The media will of course celebrate a defeat for the SNP as a defeat for independence, but caring what the Daily Record says is a really terrible reason for doing anything. Roughly 50% of Scots still want independence and aren’t going to change their minds, so there’ll remain fertile territory for a political party to cultivate. Nature abhors a vacuum, and politics doubly so.
If you can’t bring yourself to vote for Unionists no matter what, we understand and empathise entirely, but THIS ELECTION IS NOT ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION – that ship sailed long ago – and it might be helpful to remember that.
SPOILING YOUR VOTE/STAYING AT HOME
A section of the Yes movement is loudly advocating “repurposing” your vote by writing “END THE UNION” or somesuch slogan across it. That isn’t repurposing anything, of course, it’s just old-fashioned vote-spoiling, and while people always talk about the potential impact of a mass spoiling campaign it never happens.
You’d need about a third of the vote to be spoiled papers for anyone to take the slightest bit of notice, and that just ain’t happening. (For reference, the percentage of spoiled papers in the 2019 election was 0.36%, which is a hundredth of that figure.)
However, you’re at least not doing any direct HARM by spoiling your paper and it’s mildly cathartic – the marks on spoiled papers are read out to the candidates, and it may be your only hope of having your MP hear your voice even momentarily for the next half-decade – so have fun if you feel like it.
The difference between spoiling your vote and simply not bothering to go out at all is of interest to politics stat nerds, but nobody else, because nobody attempts to ascertain which spoiled votes are making a pointed statement about the inadequacies of the candidates and which are just some moron who can’t even put an X in a box with a pencil without messing it up.
VOTING FOR MINORITY CANDIDATES
Not everyone in Scotland will have a candidate from Alba/the ISP/independents that they could vote for, but a fair few will. If smaller parties want to become bigger parties, at some point people have to start voting for them even in the knowledge that in the short term it’ll be a “wasted” vote.
If the Alba vote, say, were to rise to 5% in this election, they’d obviously get no seats but it’d be a signifier that the party had momentum and was reaching the sort of level where it’d be expecting to pick some up at the next Holyrood election, which would in turn start to increase their media presence and public awareness.
The drawback is that giving your vote to a party with, realistically, no chance of winning the seat – rather than to the candidate best placed to remove/defeat the SNP – risks letting the SNP squeeze through the middle, and every SNP MP that slithers back to Westminster with their gravy bucket drags out the party’s necessary death for longer.
It’s not entirely unprecedented for candidates elected for one party to retain enough of a personal vote to keep the seat for another party or as an independent, so readers might well feel it was worth trying to keep the likes of Neale Hanvey, Kenny MacAskill and Angus MacNeil – all contributors to the website you’re reading now – in their jobs, and we certainly wouldn’t argue with that.
—————————————————————
So that’s it. For what it’s worth, I’ll probably be spoiling again. Only one leaflet has come through my letterbox in Bath (from the impossibly dreadful Lib Dem incumbent Wera Hobhouse), nobody has knocked on the door, I haven’t seen a street stall for any party and I can’t find a single hustings where I can ask the candidates any questions, so my thoughts of possibly voting for someone to get Hobhouse out look kaput.
(It’s tempting to stay at home and contribute to what may be a very low turnout figure, but as noted above that’s a distinction without a meaningful difference, and the impulse to indicate democratic willing by at least showing up to the polling station to let them know they’re all scumbags is a strong one.)
But for Wings readers in Scotland the dilemma is much harder still, and we appreciate that. We wish we could offer you a genuine constructive strategy. But realistically the only useful thing this election can achieve is destruction, because you need to bulldoze useless unsaveable ruins before you can build something new.
Your vote, as always, is between you and your conscience, and only you can decide whether you want to contribute to the solution or merely to swerve any personal responsibility for what happens.
But after the catastrophic reign of Nicola Sturgeon there are no shortcuts. Voting SNP “because they’re the independence party” is like cancelling a dental appointment for a root canal. You’re still going to have to deal with it at some point, and you’re just letting more decay and pain take hold in the meantime.
Everybody knows Labour have already won the election by a landslide, perhaps by more than 300 seats. You may consider there to be some value in having a Labour MP who at least has the ear of the government, but the idea of Scottish MPs of any party having any meaningful collective influence is a fantasy.
Keir Starmer’s majority will be several times larger than Scotland’s total representation, and therefore Scotland, as a country, will have no voice in the next Parliament whether it sends 57 Labour MPs, 57 SNP MPs or 57 sacks of birdseed. There is absolutely nothing you can do about that.
(Don’t take our word for it, ask this useless fannybaws.)
In so far as we have any advice at all, then, it’s to use your vote to wreak as much destruction as you can, to shed the dead weight around our ankles and clear the launchpad for next time so that we can in future once more begin to dream of slipping the surly bonds of the Union.
Scotland might indicate its contempt for Britain and its «parliamentary sovereignty» by just boycotting the election all together.
A very low turnout would be a well targeted kick at Westminster and all its neo colonialist pretensions.
Send those 57 sacks of birdseed instead.
Pity Scotland doesn’t produce bananas.
At Scottish general elections the proportion of spoiled constituency and regional votes, respectively, were as follows:
1999: 0.30%, 0.30%
2003: 0.66%, 0.65%
2007: 2.88%, 4.08%
2011: 0.30%, 0.30%
2016: 0.40%, 0.20%
2021: 0.37%, 0.19%
So the proportion of spoiled ballots in 2007 was around 7 times and 12 times the average rate for the respective constituency and regional elections for the other 5 Holyrood polls.
It was all Brian Taylor, then of the BBC, could witter on about all night as the results came in (rather than the fact that the SNP under Alex Salmond’s leadership won a historic first election of any kind in Scotland).
The Guardian even reported that the spoilt votes tally topped 140,000 (see link to theguardian.com).
So “spoiling” votes does make news.
The ballots are placed face up and, as you say, read out to candidates. For supposedly pro-Independence candidates the message is ‘here’s what you could have won, if you were serious about Independence’.
But … each to their own and according to conscience.
“If you live in East Renfrewshire, maybe best just to move house.”
Or vote for Colette Walker of ISP. No she won’t win but since the alternatives are Blair McDougall, Sandesh Gullane or Kirsten Oswald why the hell wouldn’t you vote for her! Pro indy, anti Freeports, not going to Westminster al la Sinn Fein, pro women’s rights (unlike Sinn Fein!)..
And it’s a lot cheaper than moving house!!!
If an independentista was standing in Angus and Perthshire Glen’s they would have my vote. But there isn’t so it’s a spoiled ballot paper, posted already.
I’m lucky
I won’t have to hold my nose to vote for Neale Hanvey
But I am resigned to ‘independence’ being a thing that won’t be happening in what’s left of my lifetime
“the drawback is that giving your vote to a party with, realistically, no chance of winning the seat – rather than to the candidate best placed to remove/defeat the SNP – risks letting the SNP squeeze through the middle”
That’s true of wasting or repurposing ballots too (as well as voting for minority candidates that can’t win). It’s also true of abstention.
The only rational choice is to vote for whoever will have the best chance of defeating the SNP. People talk about holding their noses but that’s a lot easier than holding down the vomit that will rise up in your throat if the SNP come out of this claiming victory.
Nicola will love you if you spoil your vote, abstain, or waste your vote on a minority candidate that can’t win. By doing so you are confirming you are a mug which is the basis she has been working on for about 10 years.
There is a valid alternative to those assessed above- Over the past 3 years, Scots from every part of Scotland haven’t waited for an election to ACT for independence, to ACT for Scotland, those actions were repeated justblast Saturday, at Bannockburn, I hope this post from elsewhere on social media will explain:
Post reads:
Alpha and Omega – The beginning and the end. The FINAL ACT in regaining Scotland’s independence will take place in New York, it will happen at the United Nations, it will be the end of a long journey – when the countries of the world welcome Scotland as an independent sovereign state into membership of the United Nations. Part of the beginning to achieve that end took place last Saturday …
Bannockburn: 22nd June 2024: With one signature, with one ACT of self-determination, Scots at Bannockburn DECLARED the end of the union. I will repeat that – it wasn’t words, it wasn’t speeches, it wasn’t an anonymous X – each and every signature on a Declaration of a Sovereign Scot is an ACT of self-determination! An ACT of self-determination to end the union and regain Scotland’s independence.
Every one of those signed Declarations is not only an ACT of self-determination – it is the hard documentary evidence we need – to inform every country in the world of Scotland’s intention to regain our independence. If Scots don’t tell them, who will?
The Declaration initiative is designed to provide factual evidence to the countries of the world – evidence given to those who will eventually welcome an independent Scotland into their midst. Each signed Declaration has already been, and will continue to be lodged for safe-keeping with the HQ of the United Nations and is there for the scrutiny of every UN Member State, with a copy of each Declaration and signature retained for all future generations to witness who signed. To witness who ACTED!
I offer my sincere thanks to all those who signed their Declaration last Saturday, and to all those who have signed at every rally I have attended. A post about the next Stage in the Declaration initiative will follow.
The overall objective is to get the SNP out so lets get them out.
I very very rarely post here , but I’m stuck , I appreciate no one can tell me how to vote , but some guidance would be greatly appreciated
I have neale hanvey standing but , would my vote be better voting for him , not voting at all or spoiling it ?
Any views appreciated
Scotland should create an orchard somewhere, contain it behind a walled garden on a northern slope without sun, then fill it Scotland’s most toxic plants and poisonous berry trees, with a name plaque displayed for every one of these t(reach-erous) SNP shites who sold Scotland down the river.
Let the soil be poor and the landscaping ugly.
The Bear Gates of Traquair House are destined to remain closed until a Stuart is back on the Scottish throne, and this Black Orchard should remain locked and abandoned without care until Scotland is free, and rids itself of these toxic, two faced parasites in our Vichy Assembly.
Let every Scottish politician dread the stigma of a toxic tree bearing their name being planted in the Black Orchard, though not a hair on their head be harmed.
And when the wood is stunted and gnarled, let be turned into twisted uncomfortable furniture for Scotland’s MP’s to sit on, so they never again get comfy or complacent about defending Scotland’s integrity.
I’ll vote for Eva Comrie. She won’t win, but I voted for SNP candidates for 40 years, most of whom also had no chance of winning. By the time independence is a realistic aspiration once more, I’ll probably be dust in an anthill in the Derry Woods, so wtf?
Can’t fault your logic Stu, but am 99% sure Starmer will take us to war as the western hegemon fights to retain its position, and WWW3 isny something that I can vote for. It’s somewhat more of a pressing issue than indy!
Fortunately av got an Alba candidate, so roll on that 5%
If you should drag yourself to the polling place, remember to take your photo ID.
Blank zombie politics begets a blank zombie electorate.
Re East Ren. I now know of a number of people in the area who are saying they will vote for McDougall to get Oswald out. Some are ex SNP, some are natural Tories voting tactically, some are longtime Labour anyway. I suspect he’ll steal it but by a tiny margin.
I hope I may be allowed this additional post, it is more in keeping with the assessments made in the Rev’s post. Again it is a post elsewhere on social media as part of the Declaration initiative – it asks a question of all current candidates – as to their allegiance.
Post reads:
Are there any current candidates who would swear an Oath of allegiance to the Sovereign people of Scotland, and refuse to swear the Royal Oath? It’s a choice, one that would form part of regaining Scotland’s independence, by creating a break from a tradition that has imprisoned Scotland and its people since 1707.
Choice 1) This Oath: ‘I do solemnly, sincerely, and truly declare an affirm, that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles, his heirs and successors, according to law.
Take that Oath and it will earn you £90,000 a year, all expenses paid, and a pension.’
Choice 2) This Oath: ‘ I do solemnly swear and affirm that my allegiance is, and will remain permanently and exclusively, to the Sovereign people of Scotland.’
Take that Oath, and you will earn nothing of monetary value, but I believe you will earn the respect of all those who seek Scotland’s independence.
The Declaration of a Sovereign Scot initiative is seeking any candidate(s) who will take that alternative Oath – a Scottish Oath – before the 4th of July.
Ends.
Maybe if you have doubts over how or whether to vote – you might consider asking candidates – which Oath they might take?
None of the above. This isn’t democracy it’s Fa-Fa land. They do not represent me.
I could happily not vote .
But I did come across the Tory candidate in East Renfrewshire’s comments on the Cass review and on that alone I am voting for him . If it also unseats the SNP candidate I am
Happy for that as she has graffiti on the local shop door with vote SNP !
That’s another reason !
But the truth is I trust no one and conflicted about participating.
Carol Neill
When in doubt, do nowt
No Alba and it’s a choice between the LibDems and the SNP.
Only time Labour got in, it was the first GE with universal suffrage.
Neale Hanvey like every other candidate standing in Scotland believes ‘transwomen are women’
I was going to say it would be interesting to see the number of women who decided not to vote because it bloody well won’t be the reason being we won’t know if these ‘women’ are men or not.
Here are my choices in Aberdeenshire and Moray East as on ballot paper
Two horse race between Dross and SNP
Ian Bailey – Lib Dems
Andy Brown – Labour (suspended by Scottish Labour)
Jo Heart – Reform
Seamus Logan -SNP
Douglas Gordon Ross – Conservative (seat thief)
Typically informative , perceptive n funny post , Stu . You’re wits-end frustration n ( justified ) anger at the state of the SNP n U.K Politics generally is palpable . Yr not alone .
I’ve come round to idea that the priority should be inflicting as much damage as possible on the fatberg that is the SNP by voting for the candidate most likely to defeat them . Pity Cillit Bang wasn’t standing .
Problem me for is – according to Electoral Calculus , Drew Hendry has an 81% prospect of retaining the seat ,Labour 18% , Cons 1% n all the other Parties 0% – inc Reform .
Reckon it’ll be #ENDTHEUNION , then . At least I’ll be spared the cog dis of voting for a Unionist 🙂
Not that any of this makes or will make the slightest difference ; we’re still going to governed by a bunch of – essentially – Middle Class ( whether in background or * values * ) pricks punting the same NeoLiberal pish as the previous mob , and the one before that ad fckn nauseam .
New Labour will add their own distinct flavour of ” fuck you commoners ” to the ongoing War On Reality by pandering even more to the unhinged screamers of the * Trans * Covenanters Lobby , as the latter DEMAND , eg we gaze in adoration at a billboard displaying a young women’s – voluntary – double mastectomy-scared body . A role model for our times ? Aye it’s no .
N we’ll still be stuck in an interminable folie a deux * Union *
Facebook is not letting me share this article, claiming my attempted sharing to a wider audience is in breach of their community “standards”(!!!) . At some stage I guess we are going to have to deal with the integrity initiative and similar ‘security’ services. In the meantime, the frustration and anger generated by this type of action simply deepens my resolve for indy…
Unless things have changed in recent years, your vote will still be counted if you put your X next to your chosen candidate AND write a comment of your choice on the form, providing it’s definitely clear who you’re voting for. That’s what I intend to do but I still don’t know who to vote for!
Let’s be honest, Scotland public enemy number one is the SNP. We’ve done a postal vote and we put two against our SNP candidate from Livingston. I could have voted for the party who was mostly likely to oust her which would be the Labour party luckily the opinion polls are saying she’ll lose her seat. We opted to vote for Alba so it’s one vote against per person in this household, better 1 against the SNP than not voting at all.
The 4th of July our Independence Day from the SNP, can’t wait to see that Yellowd wipe from the Scottish map for good.
Unfortunately Stirling and Strathallan provides a choice of 5 utter numpties…
Sham Nationalist Party
Fibdems
Tory Scum
Slabber
BNP
Suppose going in with a sharpie and scrawling “Tossers” over the ballot might provide some light relief to the general malaise.

Neale Hanvey like every other candidate standing in Scotland believes ‘transwomen are women’
What utter pish! Neale is a strong advocate of women’s rights and absolutely doesn’t believe this
I found myself in a bit of a quandry when this election was called. I have always voted SNP and their sitting candidate is one of their better members, who has been very-helpful as a constituency member on a couple of occasions.
However, after all the Sturgeon Cult’s nonsense – no way.
Similar stories with the Blue and Red Tories and the Tory-lit Liberals – no way.
I am a founder member of ALBA, but their candidate, a refugee from the old SNP was an absolute disaster when in the Commons, so a no-no from me.
Reform – you must be joking.
So, I, having initially decided to go down the #End the Union route, I have had a late change of heart. My Grandson is standing in our constituency for the Greens. The reality is, he’s a “paper” candidate, they will put in a bigger effort for Holyrood in 2026, but, he’s my Grandson, I think he’s misguided in his politics, but, he’ll get my vote, and not just as the best of a bad bunch.

I very very rarely post here ,..
Neale Hanvey ticks the boxes for me If I was looking for someone to vote for. I think he deserves some support as well. A good guy.
I could never stomach voting for Unionists, ever. Plus, given the focus on the anti woman policies of the SNP, any independence supporter who not only votes for a Unionist party, but votes for an anti woman unionist party, is pretty much betraying everything they claim to believe in.
There’s no independents in my constituency, so its either spoiled ballot or voting SNP through extremely gritted teeth.
The Rev sums it all up nicely. For reasons I’ve stated before I’ll be abstaining. The new ID process could well add to the figures abstaining, so a very low turnout [below 50%] is not beyond the bounds of possibility which would, IMO, send a strong signal of pisht-aff-ness to both England and SNP tractors.
We really needed Alba or SNP, or even the Greens, to adopt the policy of abstentionism in this Westminster election, but not for the first time they bottled it in favour of britnat pensions and party Short money.
Cheers ruby
But I still very much in a quandry
Neale seems a good guy , but then so did big eck , I wish he’d come out all guns blazing , he’s nothing to lose ?
It is the none of the above election as I have no Pro Indy candidates to vote for and I include the SNP in that list.
Vote for whoever is most likely to unseat the SNP (in Scotland).
For reasons explained in previous BTL threads I can’t vote for Starmer under any situation.
So just do your best, to not vote SNP, whoever that might be.
Here we go again ladies. Get ready for the fight of your lives.
Women won’t Wheesht 2.0.
By the end of this – the death of the labour party will be nigh.
Get ready to go up against your corporate elites. It’ll be a lonely place ladies. But enough is enough.
You’ve got to say something.
We need the facts – we need polling done.
We need to defend ourselves against the gender lobby.
We’ve got to fund polling. I’ll pay the money – you set the donation.
We’ve got to raise cash. Will wings over Scotland commission some more panelbase polling on gender self ID.
Ladies. you’ve got to walk into your board room and slap it down on your HR department’s desk – this is what the public think of Gender Self ID.
I’ve been looking for the scottish panel base polling – and others on gender self ID. We’ve got to keep it clear and concise in a wee note pad.
I’m furious about this. About the labour party. If only the tories weren’t so corrupt we wouldn’t be having to suffer this all over again.
What’s the plans? Women won’t wheest. We need to fucking rise up and stand up.
Our country is starving. We’ve got no future. No opportunity for social mobility. No opportunity to save money to get on the property ladder – this is my situation – rental costs excorticate in the private lets.
Walked through Glasgow today. West end of Glasgow is gone – nothing what it used to be. My two pals are moving to the south side. They can’t stand it anymore.
My pals just missed out on a flat as a cash offer 50K above the asking price put in for a shitey flat in Partick.
The country is fucked. We’re fucked. And they think we need this?
I’m furious. I want to smash things up I really do.
Might be #EndTheUnion for me, but a read at Grouse Beater is certainly making me ponder….
“We in Scotland are scoured by the curse of colonialism. Remove a politician wedded to freedoms and independence, no matter how slothful they seem in securing the ideal, and we welcome back another colonial oppressor, the very people we wish banished from our country. The absolutist says wipe out the SNP and lets start again. But they don’t say how or led by whom. And none of us are getting any younger, fearing we lose the Big Day celebrations. This time will see the invaders make laws to stop our march to full civil and constitutional rights and those people are far more undesirable than any disliked personality in the SNP, ALBA, ISP, SALVO or solo candidates standing for election.
Vote. And choose wisely.”

Agree with his post. No unionist and no freak gets my vote and certainly no freakin unionist.
Women’s rights which include transwomen.
He believes in the GRA2004 which means he believes transwomen are women.
If you’ve not seen the news. The labour party want to make Gender Self ID one of their defining policies of the next term of Government.
Sir Kier wants to streamline this dehumanising process he says.
Get ready to home school your children. They’re coming to trans away the gay!
Also went to the Mela festival yesterday.
I love Indians. Bit fan of their food. Their culture very colourful people beautiful day in Glasgow.
The Scottish women are the most beautiful in the world in my opinion. Especially the red haired ones that you see in the wedding adverts – beautiful.
I love a Scottish lassie in a bit of tartan wearing a Mary Quant mini-skirt.
And then you look up and it’s a man!
This country is lost… This country!!!!
The only way to protect women’s rights is to repeal the GRA 2004.
Nobody is campaigning for the repeal of the GRA 2004.
You can’t protect women’s rights if there is a law which states men can become women.
Quite happy to hear why Stevo thinks this is utter pish.
Carol Neil….If I was in Neale Hanveys constituency He’d get my vote. I think Ruby may be mistaken about his view of twaw. Neale speaks out strongly on womens issues – repeal the GRA – WASPI etc See his X account eg link to x.com where he says “Whether I am re-elected or not, I will oppose this misogynistic, homophobic and child endangering movement”. He has also written several pieces for Wings that you might want to look up.
I live in Perth & Kinross and will be voting for SALLY hUGHES our Independent for Independence candidate who is working hard to put Pete Wishart permamently in his slippers!
Our votes count for nothing in Westminster. Doesn’t matter who we send, the English decide who’s in government.
What we can do, however, is send a clear message that we are no ones fools. Labour were given that message and the SNP need to be given the same.
So, ignore who they are and vote for whoever will kick the SNP out most effectively.
Oh, and you’d need her heid looked at if you didn’t vote for Hanvey. Honestly, the very suggestion!
If anyone wants to see how bad the housing crisis is in Glasgow and the West.
Youtuber – “Honest Places – video – Walking Scotland’s Most derelict streets.”
It is astonishing, hundreds of empty houses in Fergusley Park area – 2 bedrooms. The same style houses would set you back £250,000 in Kniteswood.
I makes me despair. Send Alex Salmond To Fergusley Park to Investigate. You’ve got to see it to believe it.
I would be happy to be proven wrong but I don’t think I am.
I have found in the past a lot of people get GRA and GRRB mixed up.
I posted this article to Facebook earlier this evening. Within minutes, Facebook told me the post had been removed.
I will vote Alba for what it’s worth. Something tells me the SNP polling is just that, polling!
On the day folk will just not turn out. So the SNP share is exaggerated by about 7%. They could end up with 15 seats.
Feegie Park’s in Paisley. Are the empty properties council or privately owned?
Regarding the toxic garden, plant laburnums. You’ll end up with a big tree that, when the time comes to cut it down in 150 years, can be used for veneers – and it’s also nice wood for turning.
Vote Plaid in Wales, Green in England unless they have hideous SGP views except Islington (Corbyn), Blackburn (Independent Pro-Palestine), ditto Dudley and any other independent left candidate I don’t know about. Stourbridge, where I used to live I would vote Labour because I know the candidate and I like her and I despise the Tory MP. And she is the only alternative to the Tories in that seat. Scotland – vote Alba. Living in Leith I would have voted Socialist Labour Party with very little hope or enthusiasm. Norn Iron I will keep my view to myself.
In case you’re going to ask, I live in Paderborn and vote Die Linke but if their vote slips below 5% (cut off to get seats) I could vote SPD or BSW. Without enthusiasm.
Have a great experience of democracy 🙁
And a good week, I enjoy summer it’s my favourite day of the year.
For me, the best outcome will be the Tories annihilated in England and have more representation in Scotland, being the only party that appears to know what a woman is. Also, it will do them good to find themselves as a minority party in a country that doesn’t vote for them whilst another does.
Then again, I might just write “None of these arseholes” across the ballot paper instead, not having an indy party to vote for here.
This is going to be the most shite election ever, but, as usual, I’ll be sitting up all night with beer and crisps watching the results. What a time to be alive.
Little bird tells me Julian Assange is free.
I think it’s true, but there’s very little info so far.
A person that Nicola and the SNP loves: “a very low turnout [below 50%] is not beyond the bounds of possibility which would, IMO, send a strong signal of pisht-aff-ness to both England and SNP tractors.”
It won’t happen, never has, and it would send (and achieve) fuck all even if it did.
By abstaining or spoiling your ballot paper, you effectively destroy the atom of influence you might have had.
Funnily enough, I always thought the world would be a better place if stupid people didn’t vote. These are strange times.
Have you considered forming a Pro-Abstain Party? I’d vote for you… ooops! Sorry, I mean I wouldn’t vote for you. Hmmmm. You see how stupid this is?
Breeks, the world’s most trusted broadcaster, beloved of all decent citizens of these islands, is reporting that he is out of Belmarsh and on his way to Australia. This independents group is standing in all 5 constituencies in Edinburgh. I wouldn’t vote for them because I have no idea who they are or what they actually stand for, but kudos to them for getting it together in time for this exceedingly snap election.
I suspect Sunak called the election specifically to hamper any organised challenge from independents or anti-establishment parties, after seeing what happened in Rochdale. It was certainly a surprise move even for his own Cabinet.
Firstly, great news, if true, about Julian Assange. That man, that legend, told the truth, and should NEVER have been hounded by Sweden, the USA and the UK on utterly FAKE sexual assault charges. I do not doubt for one second that the woman involved was a spook. The whole damn thing reeked of governments colluding in the most corrupt manner to smear Assange. Julian Assange is an actual hero of the free world. A legend, who stood up for honesty, truth and justice.
Just a pity that the so-called ‘free press’, rather than stand up for truth, chose to pretend it didn’t happen, and play along with the chicanery and LIES of their respective governments. I do not doubt that some of them will today, in a massive show of hypocrisy, be cheering aloud about how it is a victory for the so-called ‘free press’.
As to the election, well, it is an English election for England, to decide the government of England by the people of England, that will, when elected, rule over Scotland and Wales, its last colonies, in the greatest example of diktat and undemocratic bullying in the world. Ahhh little England, perfidious albion, the undemocratic, unelected colonial ruler of Scotland, that stole our oil wealth, stole our other assets, and now, under the guise of ‘gb energy‘, will steal all our renewable energy from Scotland too. They will then lament on how poor Scotland is, and how it NEEDS the ‘largesse‘ of England to even survive.
Fortunately I have an ALBA candidate in my constituency, a genuine local, supports independence, women’s rights, and has the right attitude. They may not win, but that is not the point, I see this as prep for the Scottish elections in a couple of years.
Alba party are like old SNP under Salmond, focussed on independence. If there were no such candidate, I would spoil my paper, demanding the end of undemocratic, unelected, English colonial rule over Scotland.
Options in angus are not voting, spoiling my vote, or throwing it away with a vote for the delectable dan pena who makes the tories seem relatively sane.
The SNP has destroyed Indy and the leadership has destroyed the SNP and the Yes movement and people on here are debating who to vote for, come on people public enemy number One is the SNP. For the last tens the SNP has been denying our right to a referendum the former FM has said there is alternative ways to achieve a referendum only for the SNP to destroy it by taken the opposite direction.
FFS does it have to be spelt out for Scotland to exist the SNP has to die, its that simple.
For every vote you don’t give the SNP and give to someone else the SNP will need two vote in order to catch backup.
If you need to vote for the devil its better to vote for one who’s going to rid us of our jailer (SNP). The SNP will never ever deliver Independence, John Swinney stated LOUD and clear Scotland will only be Independent with a section 30 order and Swinney knows as does the Unionist party’s that no matter which government is in Westminster a section 30 will never be given and the SNP knows it and is happy for the UKG to keep denying it, it suits there purposes.
Priority is removal of the SNP, 50% support Independence but not everyone who supports Independence knows the SNP are taken us for idiots. If we rid our self of the SNP by 2026 the Yes movement could be revived if the SNP still exist the chance of Independence before 2030 is dead and buried.
Would I vote for a unionist party to rid Scotland of its jailer YES i would, the SNP is the party holding Scotland in this union so lets remove the jailer and free up our options on Independence other than a section 30, for gods sake hold your nose its better to vote for the devil you know the party you think you know.
If we had a party with a voice and prepared to stand for Scotland’s corner Westminster would have to deal, Alex Salmond knew this, the New SNP also knows this this is the sole reason they are happy to say we asked and the answer was NAW so we need to get another mandate in order to strengthen our position, no this is weakening our position and the SNP knows it.
The leadership went into this election and change what the membership had voted for regarding the route to Independence, why because it didn’t suit there needs. This is precisely whats been done since Sturgeon took over just because we have a new leadership the direction of the party hasn’t changed. So we need to change and by changing who we vote for is our best way of protecting Scotland and achieving Independence.
Why would you vote for a party who can march for LGBT+ and refuses to march for Indy, says it all really doesn’t it.
Far too early to be making up our minds. Still 9 days to go, and even 7 is a long time in politics.
Those unpinned hand grenades the various lobbying groups have been nursing until the time is right have yet to be lobbed …
Labour’s “landslide” is a side-effect of the media’s click-bait catastrophising – every prediction of the majority has to be just a little bit more apocalyptic than the last, in order to capture social media notice. An endless, self-amplifying loop.
Come the day, in the dark quiet of the polling booth, many will be weighing up what really counts to them.
Such as Labour’s eye-watering tax rises.
And their recent about face on what is a woman.
I think Labour’s going to win – defo, it’s baked in, but it will be closer than many expect it to be.
It’s also going to be the first WM GE at which the new reality of WM politics – the organised Muslim bloc vote – is going to be so in everybody’s face that not even the MSM will be able to ignore it any longer.
With obvious ramifications for HR in 2026 …
Because it’s just Scottish Indy that can’t shift the dial, even over a decade. Everywhere else in Europe, a couple of years is the normal timespan for new political movements to come from nowhere to positions of power.
@David Hannah ,
After seeing some poll results I got curious if it was a self selecting group .
You just sign up on line . 50 points a poll . Get to 5000 and you get a £50 voucher of your choice of designated stores .
So I decided to offer my views too . I find it quite therapeutic to rank politics .
But it is in my mind very much a self selecting group . I can see now how some are very far from reflecting the true voting intentions.
People on here need to stop worrying about Westminster because Westminster is more worried about Scotland but while the SNP is in charge they’re not.
To the person asking about Neale Hanvey. I have always found him honest, trustworthy and a hard worker. He has given Salvo/ Liberation support at crucial times in our development I think and hope pro Indy supporters should vote for him.

Why would you vote for a party who can march for LGBT+ and refuses to march for Indy, says it all really doesn’t it.
And the Bannockburn march at that; arguably the most poignant of them all.
Not long now though. I hope the smug bastards get an absolute hammering, although they’ll dress it up with the usual sophistry and political doublespeak; night is day, black is white…
We should have a sweepstake or “Defeat Bingo” cards ready for all the disingenuous excuses on results night. Low turnout, photo ID, self ID, blah! blah! blah!
The only safe bet is not one of these charlatans will acknowledge the stone cold betrayal of Scottish Independence. Wankers to the last.
Fun Facts
Population of Scotland is around 5.5 million.
Number of immigrants in England & Wales (i.e. people born abroad) is around 10.5 million.
Anybody wedded to the first axiom of democracy, “one person, one vote” can judge the relative importance of Scotland at WM from these two facts alone.
It was the manifestos prepared for the 2005 WM GE that first alerted me to the existence of promises targeted specifically at the growing immigrant population (if you’re interested, Tory manifesto policies, in a desperate and fruitless attempt to thwart Blair’s historic third term).
Every election since then, these policies and promises (from all parties) have become more blatant and more obvious. However, acknowledgment of the new direction of travel from the MSM remains as fugitive as ever.
Demographics is destiny.
This «election» is an «ignore» because Scotland is an «ignore».
Tit for tat.
Smash the foul Yookay and its belly crawling minions.
25th June 2024 – Moldova is commencing EU accession talks.
It’s a small country, around 2.5 million, and shares a legacy of colonialist, imperialist absorption at gunpoint from its overwhelmingly larger neighbour.
But the Moldovans aren’t feart.
The referendum is in October:
“A nationwide referendum is scheduled to be held in Moldova on 20 October 2024 on whether the country should amend the Constitution of Moldova to include the Moldovan citizens’ wish for European Union membership”
If only our SNP/Green ruling junta would grant us the same. But no, we’re going to be in the EU because they say we have to be in the EU, and they dare not risk giving us a democratic say.
We might say “naw” and who in control would want that?
I have the same problem with the Tories as I do with Neale Hanvey/Alba
Any politician or party who is happy to have the GRA 2004 in place obviously doesn’t know what a woman is.
Women feel let down by politicians whether they are Independence supporters or not.
I haven’t just suddenly changed my mind about this I have been saying this since high profile Alba member Craig Murray came out as a trans-activist.
Thanks ‘panda paws’ for mentioning Colette Walker standing here in East Renfrewshire. My postal vote for ISP is already ‘winging’ it’s way to the ballot box. As a fervent feeder of our feathered friends, next time around, I’ll be seeking bribery from the sack of birdseed that does get elected here in the leafy suburbs of Greater Glasgow. Btw, Colette’s Guide Dog is a gem.
Iain Lawson
Neale Hanvey, is one of the most dedicated people we have in the movement he’s a assets the SNP should have not let go.
I spoilt my postal ballot. I could not in all good conscience give my vote to any of the candidates. No Alba or ISP here unfortunately. In ’26 I’ll be voting Alba.
Our household will not be voting. I have never not exercised my right, husband spoiled his paper one year. Nobody to vote for. Not one Independence candidate other than the SNP and they ruined their chances.

“Demographics is destiny”
Demographic change (e.g. ‘occupation by se***ers’) is an established and fundamental part of colonial rule. Demographics comprise one of the key determinants of independence for a colonised people who are always ‘in the process of perishing’ (Fanon) so long as colonialism is permitted to continue. Liberation and ‘self-recovery’ of native culture (Memmi) is the only remedy for ‘a people’ subject to ‘colonial procedures’.

Ruby Tuesday @8.56
Neale Hanvey is solid on Women’s rights and has spoken at and supported For Women Scotland demonstrations outside Holyrood I personally don’t think Craig Murray should still be in Alba anyway as he is standing for another party .
If I were able to I would definitely vote for Neale ,unfortunately I don’t have an Alba candidate in my constituency.
Who remembers the Martin Keating Section 30 case that the SNP/SG sabotage only then to take us directly to the British Supreme court. For all these who a reminder of WHOM were dealing with look no further than than the keating case, or Criag Murray and ALex Salmond and the list goes on and on.
The SNP is no friend to Scotland or our people, the English might be our jailers but the SNP are our torturous.
Breeks
The result is going to be very interesting if not the most interesting result for a Westminster election we have ever had.
I hoping that the SNP goes bust as a result of a very poor election night and the funds from Westminster won’t cover their debts.
Also I’m hoping the same as what you said in your post, but to add just one thing the stamp fiasco makes people think twice about voting for the SNP.
If the SNP dies as a result of a poor election thats on Swinney not Humza and because of Sturgeon and the SNP not the Indy movement.
George Galloway predicting that Farage / Reform will get at least 25% of the vote and very possibly getting zero seats for it. I suspect it may be better. Galloway actually touches on why…
Also talking about who is behind ISIS/Al Q@eda and the attacks on Ru$$ia. He points out they always attack whoever the US does not like. That during an 8 month mass murder of P@lestinians they have done precisely fuck all about that.
And the mock outrage ‘from the whole orchestra’ at Nigel Farage speaking what everyone knows is true about the war in Ukr@ine.

I have some sympathy for what you write, as I see how it partially applies to our situation (where we perhaps differ is that you think it fully applies).
So here’s some questions: Given the 10.5 million (presumably “legal”) immigrants in England & Wales, and maybe another million illegals (who actually knows?), are they even more colonised than we are?
In percentage terms?
Does our Scottish government pass legislation that actively penalises the indigenous Scottish population in order to favour our white, English se***ers?
Because the WM government most certainly does that for their se***ers south of the border. And that UK legislation affects us too.
My analyses of this election is either a spoiled ballot paper or refraining from voting due to Labour will be running the pretendy Scottish government,
Labour have already won the election in Scotland prior to any one in Scotland getting out of bed to go cast their vote, simply because we are outnumbered by default of the electorial system, and the size of the rest of the UK compared to Scotland,
So what would Scotland vote be worth?
Not a lot,
Labour will lead and the rests of the Scottish votes will be discarded as leftovers that have been thrown to the wind to fall where they may,
Short term we want rid of the SNP, Long term we want rid Labour, Tories, lib dems, Greens,
What our split voting will do is allow all these ejeets back into the pretandy parlianment because of the way the voting election results are counted.
None of the smaller parties will have a voice in that parliament because they will always be a out numbered when voting on any policy they put forward, or any small objection they have to other policies put forward by the other parties policies and would also go unheard as a squeak in the corner,
All these parties in this election have already been part of Holyrood and “contributed” to running Scotland into the ground,
They are on maternity leave, on holiday, they abstain, or pretend to object whilst behind the scenes and closed doors they vote to enable bad policies into Scotland,
Weather “you” object to you a human needing an ID card like a dog needing a license, or wether you object because you can only choose a crap politician or a shit politician is not in my personal
Opinion and analyse a good reason to vote,
But I suppose when each individual has made their own personal assessment of the political landscape many may spoil their ballot paper for lack of effective choice,
“The Hate Crime” bill passed in Scotland through the back door of a pretendy Scottish parliament under Westminster legislation was enough to open my eyes as the final straw that broke the camels back, because it breached the treaty of union on “Private Rights” of Scottish people. And wrote into the fallacious treaty of union.
I disagree but what does it matter. No point in me repeating the same thing over and over again.
I think it might be a mistake to send our ‘good guys’ to Westminster to be corrupted and turned into ‘Cosy Slipper loving Bisto kids’
There is not a single politician standing in Scotland who is solid on Women’s rights I’ve singled out Neale Hanvey because Alba have been a huge disappointment to me.
I seem to be the only person in Scotland that is looking forward to the election. Persecution syndrome has set in alongside the usual exceptionalism; Scotland, we are told, is in a uniquely shit predicament.
But, shit as it is, there’s nothing unique about it. The system we call democracy screws everybody. In most countries it was designed from the ground up to make sure the people never get what they want. “Democracy” makes all countries colonies of the rich.
The only difference between this election and previous elections is that more of us than before have realised that the SNP is part of the democratic scam, and that’s a good thing. Look across the western world and you will see the same sort of scam play out everywhere.
If you ever thought democratic elections were about giving you a meaningful choice or a say in things, you were simply misinformed, and that’s no accident. The truth is almost the exact opposite — they’re about making sure you don’t.
Democracies are prisons with walls made of stainless steel lies.
I watched ( Reason- live) on youtube this week that showed a meeting between Starmer and Mr Khan of London noteriety.
Discussing bringing in NEW laws under further Hate Crime Speech, that will be imposed soon, that bloke is a woke dictateor,
But shutting down other avenues of free speech,
I see there is a delay in posts going through on Wings today,
Brian @3.39am.
Yes Brian that’s brilliant news radio news says that Assange immediately fled the UK, good for him.
The forces of evil CAN be defeated and Assange and his team have shown that.
FFS, GasMain is back. Out from under his stone, swivel eyes blinking in the light.
100%Yes @ 9:24 am
“The SNP is no friend to Scotland or our people, the English might be our jailers but the SNP are our torturous.”
Yes indeed, the dominant national party elite that betrays the people and ‘ruptures the independence movement’ (Memmi) and instead makes ‘an accommodation with colonialism’ (Fanon) protects only the colonizer’s interests and plunder; and in doing so it takes on the role of ‘colonial watchdogs’ (Cesaire). The people can expect only more oppressive laws from a colonial administration, which is why they have to be removed, toot sweet.
I think this is a very interesting election now.
I am thinking Starmer’s arse will be a bit twitchy despite the massive odds at the bookies.
Almost impossible to predict given the potential massive swings and then you have the eccentricities of the FPTP system as well… If parties start going through the 30% barrier or below it you could see huge swings. If the tory vote collapses that is a lot of seats up for grabs.
link to electoralcalculus.co.uk
Why the fuck would they go to Keir Starmer I am thinking. That disaffected tory vote that gave Boris a massive landslide now has a new option…
I think Scotland will just revert to Labour (or worse the SNP) but England is going to be spicey methinks. Hopefully Galloway and Murray get (re)elected.
The usual BS from the Teflon Don of the SNP (VONC’s never stick to him) its all Westminster’s fault is the tired old rhetoric from Swinney.
We really need to remove the SNP from office no matter how painful it might seem or get, we need to reset the dial to zero again, and unfortunately begin again, for the SNP is not a party for Scottish independence anymore, they have become a road block to it.
The main goal must be to remove as many SNP MPs as possible come the English elections aka the GE.
“JOHN Swinney has accused the Westminster establishment of having a “know your place” attitude towards Scotland as he ripped into Unionist parties for not acknowledging the devastating impacts of Brexit during the election campaign.”
I honestly don’t know what I am going to do on polling day. Realistically in my constituency its a choice between SNP and Labour. I am not aware the SNP candidate has ever done anything to advance the cause of independence, or ever done anything good for the local area or any other good cause, and the Labour candidate is a unionist.
@Ruby Tuesday you are wrong about Neale Hanvey but seem determined not to listen.
Your choice.
No party is advocating repealing the GRA although several women’s groups are campaigning for this to happen.
As for East Ren, the Con guy voted FOR the GRR despite being given a free vote, so he’s lying to save his skin.
Labour will be worse just than the Cons because they will push self ID
For a realistic insight into what happens bureaucratically and politically when 70% of an electorate’s cast ballots are blank, defaced or repurposed, then just read Jose Saramago’s novel, Seeing. No plot spoilers. But no surprises either. As captain Fraser intoned, ‘we’re aw fucked’
Look at this… select the three year view.
link to politico.eu
Massive swings from the Tory vote to Labour during Truss’ and then Sunak’s unelected appointment.
So in my view this is actually very precarious for Starmer.
Those people could just as easily switch to Farage now. That Reform manifesto was described by that tory in the article I linked to as a classic (80’s era) tory manifesto, and it really is. Massive tax cuts, stop the boats, make Britain Great again…
Starmer is right to be looking over his shoulder… Farage could come up quick. England is fundamentally tory.
Scotland as usual will just be a passenger but our job is simple, obliterate the SNP. No matter what happens, they have to be annihilated before the independence movement can move forward again.
If the SNP somehow limp through with just a severe mauling it will be a failure. We have to tear them limb from limb at the ballot box. Nothing else will do.
I don’t know how anyone would risk this shower of shit surviving.
Can you imagine Pete Wishart being returned as an MP because you or someone else spoiled their ballot instead of voting for whoever is best placed to eject the little wank into political outer space.
I think I’d be on suicide watch if that happened to me… Don’t take that risk folks.
Tactical voting is a must. As someone pointed out that means they are looking for not just one missing vote but two votes. You double your impact, your power, hoofing them in the electoral chuckies.

But I still very much in a quandry
Neale seems a good guy ,
Worked with him a few years back when he was in the Snp doing leafleting/canvassing etc with him.
What a tireless worker and a 100% believer in Scottish independence. I have never seen anyone work harder for the cause.
I wish he’d been standing in my area. I would vote for him in a heartbeat!
It is early days but what is noticeable on the politico voting intention history (select 6 month view) is that Reform are taking votes off Labour at roughly the same rate as they are taking them off the Tories. Makes sense as Starmer is pretty much a tory anyway.
Hi Ruby.
A wee Neale Hanvey video for you.

Listen to who Liz?
You say
‘No party is advocating repealing the GRA’
My belief is as long as the GRA 2004 is in place there can be no women’s rights that doesn’t include men. As long as there is a law that states men can change sex and become women any women’s rights/sports/single sex spaces/hospital wards/laws ie misogyny would have to include men.
If adults can change sex why wouldn’t a child think they too can change sex.
It’s my opinion, my choice but I am happy to listen to anyone who wants to change my mind about that fact.

“Does our Scottish government pass legislation that actively penalises the indigenous Scottish population”
What did you think a colonial administration was for, if not to oppress (‘haud-doun’) the people? Some examples:
Education policy permits Scotland’s elite universities to allocate most places to higher fee students from elsewhere, with few places left for aspiring natives;
Housing policy allows significant numbers of people from outside Scotland to purchase homes in Scotland, and for universities to provide thousands of student flats in our cities, resulting in inflated property prices and a housing crisis;
Scotland’s laws and courts ensure we have the highest prison population per capita in W. Europe;
Uncontrolled in-migration ‘crowds out’ the locals from access to already limited public services;
Applicants for the best jobs need only be able to speak English, an nae understanding o oor ain Scots langage is needed;
An Scots langage isnae taught tae bairns in the schuils;
Maintaining the colonial racket/plunder of the economy leaves the native people with a far lower GDP-per-capita, i.e. almost one third the level of our best performing neighbouring countries;
Energy-rich Scotland’s electricity price is four times higher than Norway;
etc etc etc……
Colonial oppression effectively becomes institutionalised in a colonial society, such that maist natives either expect it or dinnae e’en notice it.

I did actually watch Neale Hanvey’s entire speech in Westminster that he referred to in this you tube video.
I’m sure he’s a really nice hard working brilliant politician but I still believe you cannot support women’s rights as long as the GRA 2004 is in place
That is the point I found missing in Neale Hanvey’s speech.
Please feel free to post links to videos you might think I would find useful but please keep in mind I have done a fair amount of research into this subject.
Thank you
Labour openly threaten we keep Trident;, that a new nuclear power station will be forced on Scotland; in votes on independence “80%” must vote Yes; Scotland’s land reform is not a policy priority for Labour; say goodbye to any benefit from oil or gas, and our SHS will have to be reorganised to accept a degree of privatisation.
NO THANKS.
Gender Reform conflicts with women’s rights and child safeguarding
Neale Hanvey
He’s talking about Gender Reform I am talking about Gender Recognition.
I’ve noticed a lot of confusion on here regarding Gender Recognition and Gender Reform.
Self-id is already here
I could give you quite a few examples but I’ll stick with just one
Mr Idul Wadhwa
For those still thinking about voting Unionist, something else to consider, what will the parties take from that? Whatever rises from the SNP (because the SNP will not die, there will always be something left) will look at increased votes for labour and conclude “Oh, lots of independence supporters voted for Labour, we should maybe be more Unionist”.
As I said in my earlier comment, I haven’t made my mind up if I’m SNP or spoiling my ballot (due to a lack of options), but it baffles me that people are still seriously considering voting for a Unionist party. You’ve thrown out your independence principle, and then you’ve decided that you don’t care about women either. So why are you voting Labour? Purely because you hate the SNP and would prefer to restore a Unionist hegemony? Madness.
I’m with you on your stance, Ruby. There is one party that wants to repeal the GRA 2004, and that is The Party of Women. Unfortunately, they have no candidates in Scotland. I am also 100% behind you on your statement that, if that Act is not repealed, women and girls are still wide open to predation by unscrupulous conmen – and I mean them all.
I listened to a video the other day of an AGP weeping and blubbing out how painful it was to have the condition, until, halfway through, he let slip that he had consumed acres of p**n, had actually fed this sexual addiction. Unless people get their heads round the fact that all of these men are chancers and con artists whose whole l.ives are dedicated to their sexual addictions – and they are addictions, which they have no desire to end – this is never going to go away and female rights will continue to be under constant threat.
I intend to spoil (or repurpose) my ballot paper with two protests – one against the Union and the other against the GRA 2004. I hope that we will have candidates for the Party of Women by the next GE, if we are still in the same mess after 2026 and the SE, because going into independence without repeal of that Act and of its reform, will mean voting ourselves into oblivion. I want independence: I don’t want a Scottish cage with men in frocks and lippy poking sticks at me with “I’m a woman” carved on them.
All you decent men out there, get the message through to these deviants; they are your sex, not ours, and neither we, nor our children, are not responsible for their vomit-inducing, self-inflicted sexual addictions or for their welfare. We are human beings in our own right, and nobody’s handmaidens.
Ruby Tuesday,
You may have noticed that I have a problem in viewing many laws being passed as “Scots Laws” by a rolled down devolved parliament in Scotland whilst it is under the auspices of Westminster/ uk legislation and Statues.
If it is under UK legislation and statues that means it is not a Scottish parliament,
And under the Uk Westminster parliament , which Scotland does not hold a treaty with, but only with the old parliament of England,
The hate crime bill and the gender recognition cuts right through everyone “Private rights” in Scotland, that was agreed to and are aarticle of the treaty of union, as does having a secondary parliament in Scotland according to the treaty of union,
People in Scotland must decide if this a Scottish parliament which would “breach the treaty of union” Or a branch parliament of the Westminster UK parliament which is not in a treaty of union with Scotland,
I do not see how there is any wriggle room to qualify legally calling these laws being passed as Scots laws if the parliament cannot be a Scottish parliament, but is under UK parliament as a subsiduary to UK parliament,
It certainly is a conundrum that Scotland has not payed any attention to.
@ Ruby Tuesday
You are right, Ruby.
Gender dysphoria has surged. In Ireland part of the cause is the experience of children who have been in Romanian orphanages. Another group of children with gender dysphoria in ireland is that of autistic childen.
Long ago I put up a link to an Irish Times article stating this.
Gender dysphoria should be treated by being neutral on changing gender (sex) while providing mental health support. Often, on reaching puberty children affected by gender dysphoria desist from the wish to change gender (sex).
The Labour Party is in denial about this reality, saying it will ban conversion therapy. That, depending on the drafting, might catch mental health support.
Willie Rennie came to my door last night asking if they could count on my vote for Wendy Chamberlain. It is the first time EVER that a party has chapped my door in the run up to an election.
I told him frankly I didn’t trust any of the main parties to protect women’s rights – especially as none of them seem capable of defining what a woman is, and that no, the libdems would not be getting my vote because of it. He did appear to have backtracked to somne degree on his original stance on this topic though saying if they had the vote on the GRR bill now he would vote against it. I still don’t trust any of them.
I told him imo the problem is none of them ever consider the long term consequences of the laws they make and the GRR was a prime example.
I also told him the libdem stance on refusing to even consider independence was a no -no.
It’s a Lib dem / SNP fight here. I can’t in all conscience vote for either, especially knowing the SNP candidate. There is no independence candidate standing so it looks like a #notmyunion spoiled vote from me.
Lorna Campbell.
Are they Scots law though?
Because the cut right across “private Rights” , Scotland only, in the treaty of union,
Cuts through the treaty of Union, article of being only (One Parliament Of Great- Britain)
And drives a hammer through Scots laws were to remain the same ..
UK parliament of Westminster is abolishing the treaty of Union article by article and it started that process when it dissolved the Scottish parliament from the treaty of Union in 1707,
If Scottish women are genuine in reinstating their private rights, and Scots law, they must and could make a good case to challenge it through the treaty of union.
Which either stands as valid or collapses.
They cannot have their cake and eat it,
Nobody I want to vote for in Stirling and Strathallan. Alyn Smith SNP – only interested in the EU (of which he is already a citizen through his marriage). No thanks. I will spoil my ballot paper #End the Union. Am trying to persuade others to do likewise.
“SCOTLAND’S voice “simply doesn’t matter to Westminster” – John Swinney
Beware! A rant is being presented! And I’m invoking my right to use profanity to emphasise my outrage over this matter.
Scotland’s MPs are the sole formal representatives of the entire sovereign Scottish half of the Union’s two sovereign kingdoms in the Union’s parliament, and as such they owe no obeisance whatsoever of any sort to England or to England’s MPs. Scotland’s MPs ARE the sole voice of Scotland in the Union, wielding a full half of the Union’s sovereignties, SO OF COURSE ITS VOICE FUCKING MATTERS TO WESTMINSTER!
It’s just that England’s establishment would far rather it didn’t, and goes to great lengths to silence, diminish, or subvert it.
That England’s MPs are entirely comfortable with completely ignoring the voice of their only sovereign partner in the Union, and without which there would be no bloody Union, is entirely down to Scotland’s FUCKING MPs NOT MAKING THEIR SOVEREIGN FUCKING VOICES FUCKING MATTER! Bloody well stand up for us you useless wankers, that’s the entire precise point of the job you are bloody well there and bloody well paid to do!
The critical failure of Scotland’s MPs for three centuries has been their total ignorance of their true authority in the Union’s parliament. They are NOT in the least obliged to submit to any decision made by England’s MPs because those MPs represent an entirely different country from Scotland, and one which, just like every other country on the entire planet, possesses no formal authority over Scotland whatsoever!
Scotland’s MPs do not defer to the MPs of any other country on the planet, and nobody would expect them to, so what is it about England that uniquely justifies and formally commands such deference from Scotland’s MPs?
Nothing! Literally nothing whatsoever! Nothing inherent to England or its sovereignty commands it. If England’s sovereignty already outranked Scotland’s, then there was never any real need for a formal Treaty in the first place.
And there is nothing in the three founding documents of the Union that formally obliges Scotland and her MPs to submit to England and her MPs on any matter of Union governance. Nor is there any formal agreement between the two Treaty Principals for the use of the single flat majority voting mechanism in the Parliament’s main chamber for determining the outcomes of debates on legislative or other matters of their JOINT governance of the two territories of their Union.
That single flat vote inherently presumes that England’s tenfold greater MP numbers entitles them to real legal authority over Scotland’s MPs, and over Scotland itself. But that presumption is entirely bogus, because there is no constitutional basis for it, and, because it actively deprives Scotland’s MPs of any meaningful agency in the Union’s parliament, and thereby actively denies the very sovereignty of the entire Kingdom of Scotland as a full kingdom in its own right which, legally, it still is today, then that can only be constitutionally legitimate if there is a sodding formal agreement by both sodding kingdoms to that sodding effect in the sodding founding documents of the sodding fucking Union!
But there isn’t one. THERE IS NO SUCH AGREEMENT!
The authority of England’s MPs over Scotland and her MPs, as enforced by that non-agreed flat vote, is fundamentally fraudulent, unconstitutional, undemocratic, a major abuse of Scotland’s sovereignty, and outrageously unlawful, and constitutes a direct and egregious breach of the Treaty itself. There could hardly be a more serious breach!
Our MPs should be throwing chairs and trashing the carpets every time England’s MPs ignore Scotland’s formal voice in the Union’s parliament. They should be raising formal legal charges against Westminster for exceeding its authority as defined and delimited by the terms of the Treaty and Acts of Union it is legally bound by.
Scotland owns a full 50% of the sovereignties of the Union, and its representatives are fully entitled to wield it on their Kingdom’s behalf; SO BLOODY WELL EXERT IT, AND MAKE SURE THOSE SMUG OVER-ENTITLED ENGLISH WANKERS FEEL IT!

“it baffles me that people are still seriously considering voting for a Unionist party”
In the case of an oppressed people, a colonial administration masquerading as a national party is arguably a worse option than a Unionist (i.e. colonial) party based in the metropolitan capital. In order to protect its hypocritical position and hide its corrupt behaviour, the national party elite has a tendency to move closer to fascism, much as we see in its laws which further oppress the people and hold back the independence movement.
Mebbe better the deil ye ken, an wha ye can see.
what would you do in Flynn’s constituency Abdn south?
a host of weirdos reform, green, deselected green (independent but not indy or real yes anyway), family party and the usuals.
I ask as for Flynn is it more likely he becomes party leader in 2026/post-2026 if he’s in post at wm or not?
i.e. will they make give him a seat anyway in holyrood 2026 if he’s kicked out?
Alternatively if he’s not kicked out will he be not stand at Holyrood as he’s at WM? Or will he shift anyway?
And is a Flynn SNP leadership worse than say Forbes or are they all the same really?
Come on Stu,
What’s your opinion on voting Green or would an honest view have you up in front of the thought police

“Our MPs…should be raising formal legal charges against Westminster for exceeding its authority as defined and delimited by the terms of the Treaty and Acts of Union it is legally bound by.”
Yes, Scotland’s MP’s and courts should have long since declared the Act of Union violated and hence no longer legally binding, i.e. ended.
Scotland’s three elected ‘nationalist’ majorities of SNP MP’s and our legal establishment has failed the people and country.
James Che: “… If Scottish women are genuine in reinstating their private rights, and Scots law, they must and could make a good case to challenge it through the treaty of union.
Which either stands as valid or collapses.
They cannot have their cake and eat it… ”
Genuine? Our rights are being stolen by men who get their kicks out of frightening females, out of perving on them. Most of them might not be dangerous, many will be, but they are ALL sleazy fetishists/AGPs – ALL of them. No exceptions. Sooner or later, they give themselves away. I believe that most men know exactly what they are, especially the spineless dolts of the SNP, Greens, Lib Dems, Labour.
What are you on about? You are putting the responsibility of bringing down the Union on our shoulders now, eh? So many men standing by (Rev an honourable exception, with many others) destroying our hard-won rights not enough for you? The Treaty and the Claim of Right and other Scottish constitutional issues are the very linchpin in bringing about the end of the Union. MEN and women need to bring it to an end. Look, mate, if men’s basic rights to dignity, privacy and safety were under threat, I would be right up there for you. Why do we have to chivvy, nag and beg you all to support us in protecting ours? What is wrong with so many men?
The last sentence below from the Teflon Don Swinney is Comedy Gold, infact anyone still taking the SNP or the Teflon Don seriously needs a reality check.
The SNP don’t give a toss about Scots, its all about getting re-elected. I recall Swinney saying years back at a SNP conference up North when Sturgeon the Judas was FM when asked about independence being on the conference agenda, he said to the person posing the question that they (indy supporters) could “Go and whistle”
Don’t vote for the SNP they are the major road blocked to dissolving this illegal union, unfortunately we’ll need to takes steps back in order to take steps forward again.
FIRST Minister John Swinney has made a “genuine and direct appeal” to Keir Starmer to reinstate his pledge to spend £28 billion a year on green policies.
“The SNP leader urged his Labour counterpart to “think again” about the commitment, with polls suggesting he will be the UK’s next prime minister by the end of next week.
It comes after a major U-turn in February saw Labour abandon its plans to spend £28 billion a year on environmental projects – with Starmer saying at the time his party had had to “readjust” its plans.
He added: “I would much rather be straight with the British public than make a promise I can’t keep.””
Xaracen: you are 100% spot on. If our elected representatives do not know this stuff, what does that say about them? Ignorant fools, at best, useless dregs at worst. Loathsome no marks, if they do know and still cheat us.
Xaracen @2.12pm.
You can bet your bottom dollar that the likes of Sturgeon the Judas, Yousaf and now Swinney know fine well about the Claim of Right or that Brexit broke the illegal Treaty of Union rules.
Ex-Welsh Carwyn Jones said he was amazed and surprised that Sturgeon did nothing about Brexit as it clearly broke the treaty.
The simple explanation is that consecutive SNP governments and their FM’s aren’t interested in achieving Scottish independence, that they’ve come to some arrangement with Westminster to keep the status quo intact and Scots poor and under the thumb of a foreign nation.
I mean its not as if a SNP government can’t act, they spent god knows how much pushing the GRRB and engaging expensive lawyers to fight Westminster’s S35, and they’ll spend much more paying the court costs, the same was applied to try and imprison Alex Salmond.
There are no indy parties at Holyrood now except maybe Ash Regan’s Alba and even there I’m not 100% sure about that.
Removing the SNP at every election GE, Holyrood, Council must be achieved if we’re to make any progress forward, yes we’ll suffer for years to come but we’re suffering now and have been for the last decade of SNP lies on indy, a reset of the dial is needed the SNP MUST fall for indy to rise again.
Meanwhile in other intersting news, the ICC has issued arrest warrants for Shoigu and Gerasimov:
On the basis of evidence collected and analysed by my Office pursuant to its independent investigations, the Pre-Trial Chamber has confirmed that there are reasonable grounds to believe that Mr Shoigu and General Gerasimov bear individual criminal responsibility for the following three crimes:
1) the war crime of directing attacks against civilian objects (article 8(2)(b)(ii) of the Rome Statute);
2) the war crime of causing excessive incidental harm to civilians or damage to civilian objects (article 8(2)(b)(iv) of the Rome Statute); and
3) the crime against humanity of inhumane acts under article 7(1)(k) of the Rome Statute.
The heids of aw the wee vatniks in here will be exploding.
Of course whether either individual will ever live long enough to face trial remains to be seen. Doubtless they’ll be staying away from windows and refusing the offer of tea from Uncle Vlad.

Liz: the Lib Dems, like every other party, have manoeuvred themselves into a corner on ‘trans’ v female rights that they can’t get out of without upsetting the hordes of insane, mentally unstable and downright vicious TRAs. They are the real problem because use they back up the pathetic creatures that have convinced themselves they are ‘trans’. In order to have something to threaten women on, they need ‘trans’. I listened to a nurse who spoke on behalf of other nurses who are outraged by Keir Starmer’s statement that ‘transwomen’ should be allocated side rooms off the main female wards rather than place them in with women.
This nurse explained that, on her friends’ ward (a female ward), a woman who had had a kidney transplant should have been allocated a side room to keep her free of infection. It went, instead, to a ‘transwoman’ whose illness did not demand this isolation. The woman was placed in the main ward and picked up an infection, as the nurses had feared. She died. I have said that women and girls will die – but I meant by murder – but we are already dying through the pandering to this insane ideology for which not ONE IOTA of evidence exists. Plenty of evidence to show that they are sexual deviants and perverts. THIS is what women are dying for.

“I intend to spoil (or repurpose) my ballot paper with two protests – one against the Union and the other against the GRA 2004.”
——————————————————————–
I’ve been thinking of doing this too. I had thought it might be more meaningful to have a set phrase/single message to be used by everyone who wanted to spoil/repurpose their vote, but there doesn’t seem to have been any agreement on what that might be, so I might do this instead.
I can’t understand why there isn’t a party (other than the Party of Women) or independent saying they want to repeal the GRA. Is it just that they haven’t looked at the issue in any depth, and are simply unaware (which might be possible for a smaller party/individual, I suppose)? Or is it that, despite some nods to making some changes in certain areas, none of them really want to stop it?
It seems to be a right wing movement masquerading as a left wing movement – both ‘sides’ want it but are happy for it to be perceived as a wedge issue because they can both make weak statements about it to attract voters, but no matter who’s in power, as long as it remains unresolved, they both get what they want.
It’s quite telling that Reform UK, for example, doesn’t have it as a manifesto commitment. You’d think it’d be a really easy vote winner for them. I’d doubt anyone considering voting for them would be put off by it, so why be so restrained about it? It’s not draconian, lots of people would see it as sensible and meaningful. It would also be an easy message to get across.
They all seem to be skirting round the edges. Maybe they just don’t want to draw attention to the relatively simple steps which would resolve the issue: repeal the GRA 2004; clearly define ‘sex’ in any and all related laws as biological, natal sex; and make same sex provisions a requirement that ‘has’ to be offered by law, rather than ‘can’ be offered. This election is unlikely to return a parliament which would enact these things anyway, but I don’t think any of them are even talking about taking these steps, and I find that in itself quite worrying.
Roll on July 18th where it is hoped by many that European Commission President U-rsula vo-n der Le-yen will be replaced, the last five years of her tenure have been the worst in the EU’s history. We’ll know what direction the EU will be moving in if she is re-elected.
“Meanwhile in other intersting news, the ICC has issued arrest warrants for Shoigu and Gerasimov:”

And in M-os-cow they’ll be laughing their arses -off at the ICC, why?
Well no arrest warrants issued for Net-an–yahu and G-alla-nt for committing g-en-oci-de in G-a–z–za, but a quick as you like warrant issued for Poott–in.
Then there’s the Gr–ea-t S-at-an, who sanctioned IC-C staff and threatened them if they continued to investigate (US) wa-r crimes, the G-rea-t S-at-an in its delusional state reserves the right to invade the IC-C and rescue any American or allies from ICC justice.
So forgive me if I don’t quite take the IC-C’s latest utterings as anything but Western rhetoric.
Only the West’s shibboleth takes the IC-C seriously, whilst slapping it down if it decides to investigate any of their wa-r crimes.
lol @ “I intend to spoil (or repurpose) my ballot paper with two protests – one against the Union and the other against the GRA 2004.”
The repurposers never explain why they don’t want to use their votes to punish those responsible for GRA, keeping us in the Union, etc.
It’s really just a senseless act of virtue-signalling. Voting gives you a molecule of influence and you’re going to squander it. Well done.
Scotlands vote matters not even a molecule ,no influence whatsoever, we always get what our neighbour chooses.
.
For the first time in my long life I contemplated not voting, however I have repurposed and posted – end the union.

I'd be genuinely interested to hear your suggestion for the best way to use my vote to "punish those responsible for GRA, keeping us in the Union, etc'" with those options.

I was on X (twitter) today – I wasn’t an SNP subscriber but X sent me a John Swinney GayPrideTrannie thingy (Swinney wearing a corresponding multi-coloured alphahbet people T-shirt) – had to actually block the SNP X-Twit account because that devo party is absolutely a fkd IP and I don’t wish to hate them any more than I do now.
I’ve accepted indy is off the cards in my life-time but must the SNP-gay-trannie party just keep on keeping on committing political suicide day after day after day… ?
This drubbing in the coming Brit election was inevitable – they’re shte. I had lots of SNPy folk calling me this, that and the next thing last year (and upto end of April) for stating that the SNP was heading for a disaster – they’ve shut up now.
It’s a hard knock life – especially when the Scottish Gay-Trans Pride Party is the incompetent mess it is. The woke-trans backlash has begun and the SNP marrying its fortunes to the weird and the perverse will disappear, die and hopefully allow another indy party to arrise. They’ve been shte since Sturgeon took over and they’re still shte – thus we can reliably expect electoral death in by the next Holyrood elections.
I am with Ruby TUESDAY re Neale Hanvey, Neale is a politician and we all know what politicians do with words when they want ELECTED,
I also thought that Neale and others within ALBA were OPPOSED to the GRA BUT if you read ALBA’S policies on the GRA, it is ONLY that they are OPPOSED to the CURRENT GRA as NOT being fit for purpose, THEY are eager to re-negotiate the GRA so that it encapsulates everyone in a fair and just manner, so although they STATE that they want to respect the safety and security of WOMEN they ALSO want to respect and include the proven NOT most put upon group of liars, perverts and deviants that have committed OPEN VIOLENCE on WOMEN
I am DISGUSTED and extremely DISAPPOINTED that a party that I thought was formed with integrity and honesty in mind and at the forefront of what WE needed, has turned into just another shower of snake oil peddlers using manipulative weasel WORDS to AVOID telling the truth
If I am WRONG ask yourself WHY a COMMITTED FEMALE ACTIVIST IN REAL LIFE AND POLITICS and an EXTREMELY FAIR and empathetic person who has independence and socialism at the very centre of her HEART, elected to head a EQUALITIES group would SUDDENLY find that her CONSCIENCE would FORCE HER TO RESIGN from that group, her position and ultimately her MEMBERSHIP of the party

Moixx, the formula is simple for independence supporters; vote for the candidate most likely to defeat the SNP. If the SNP is unlikely to win anyway, who cares what you vote for?
There are very good and compelling reasons for doing everything possible to hurt the SNP — it’s not just about punishment.
The main reason is we want to get them out of the way so that we can build something new. We can’t do that with them sitting there, configured as they are.
Nobody knows what will come out of the cosmic dust cloud, but that uncertainty is better and more promising than the certainty that the SNP will do nothing.
Another important reason is that we need to set an example for politicians in the future — fuck around and find out…
@ twathater
It’s a fucking mystery why so many folk seem so insular and obsessed with the genderwoowoo. Pity they aren’t more bothered and focused on external matters pertaining to wider society’s everyday existence.
I was recently snapped out of the trance like state of endlessly wondering about my gender identity and whether I should cut my genitals off or get additional ones fitted. I was driving at the time and it dawned on me whilst I was waiting at a road junction I could no longer safely pull out of, because the insanity of re-wilding ideology seems to involve not cutting back vegetation on roadsides so the visual splay is reduced to the point you can’t see other vehicles approaching and judge in you have time to pull away from a junction in a safe manner conducive to adhering to the guidance contained in the pages of the highway code.
This epiphany kicked off a chain of events that better serves my fellow denizens of society than me dwelling overly on customising my genitalia.
Over the past few years I’ve had more broken strimmers handed into me by neighbours than I have testicles and tits, and decided that on balance due to most of my female neighbours being ancient or gay (or both), that my time would be more productive and beneficial to my community if I sorted a couple of strimmers and cut back the vegetation around road junctions with compromised visibility, rather than attempting to drink enough alcohol that would get me to a state of thinking shagging ancient gay women is a sensible and realistic proposition to aim for.
So the upshot of this is I quickly sorted a couple of strimmers and headed out and spent 15 mins giving them a test drive whacking down the grass and weeds and making the road junction a great deal safer for all who use it.
I’m actually thinking of guerilla adoption of several local problem road junctions and stealth maintaining them seeing as the local council are fucking useless and spent what little money they have making new ID cards with preferred pronouns for all their staff, instead of buying a few gallons of petrol for one of their staff to run a strimmer.
Maybe I’ll hang a wee money box on a fence post at these junctions and road users appreciative of the much improved safer road environs can make a small donation…
Hatuey @ 7.08pm
So, to “punish those responsible for GRA, keeping us in the Union, etc” I should vote Labour, (which polling says will win comfortably in my area anyway)?
Labour, who brought in the GRA (and are clearly set to wildly expand it as soon as they get in) and who have done and will continue to do everything they can to keep us in the union?
Thanks for your reply, and I fully understand the arguments for getting completely rid of the SNP, but I really couldn’t bear to vote for Labour which I have no doubt at all will do so much damage in 5 years that it might be irreparable.

Ah yes, the poor, oppressed people.
Since the lifting of the Covid restrictions, everybody has known this GE was happening – not the precise month obviously, but sometime in 2024.
For all of that time, absolutely nothing has stood in the way of the “independence movement” making this a plebiscitary election on Scottish Indy. Not fascism, not oppression, nothing.
Nothing, other than apathy and fear.
Face it, Alf, you don’t need to invoke fascism and oppression when apathy and fear suffices to explain it all.

At the recent St Petersburg International Economic Forum (the Orc’s equivalent to Davos), two of the keynote speakers were the spawn of Orc #1 himself. Yet nobody there dares to say aloud what everybody knows – these privilege and pampered women, who are being groomed for high office, are Pres Poot’s daughters.
Another major speaker at the event is the daughter of Shoigu – the former defence minister and current Orc security council secretary.
They even have a phrase for this kind of nepotism in Orc Central, the “rise of the princess”.
Astonishing that this kind of neo-Tsarist, dynastic royalty goes without a mention by yon republican boy who can’t spell “Scotland” right, while he posts endless bleatings about our own voting freedoms.
But that’s truth for you – always stranger than fiction.
Is the Secretary of State Against Scotland lying or not? We know what Tories are good at, and its not telling the truth.
“ALISTER Jack has claimed he won more than £2000 betting on the date of the General Election.
Jack, a multi-millionaire who as Scottish Secretary had a place in the Tory Cabinet, told the BBC he had won £2100 after betting on a June or July election just after Rishi Sunak called the vote for July 4.
The BBC reported that he had further claimed one of the bets was placed at odds of 25/1.
However, last week, he told the BBC the comments were a “joke”.
Now, he has released a statement saying he did not place any bets on the date of the General Election “during May”.
“I am very clear that I have never, on any occasion, broken any Gambling Commission rules”, Jack said.
“I did not place any bets on the date of the General Election during May – the period under investigation by the Gambling Commission.
“Furthermore, I am not aware of any family or friends placing bets. I have nothing more to say on this matter.””

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, even though you seem to think I’m taking the piss.
You’re exactly the sort we need in politics in Scotland.
These b*stards must be held to account, but we all know they won’t be.
“The UK Government had destroyed an estimated £1.4 billion worth of personal protective equipment (PPE).The items, which were all acquired by the Tory government in a single deal during the pandemic, have been destroyed or written off, it is understood.
Figures published by the BBC showed there were at least 1.57 billion items of PPE provided by Northamptonshire supplier Full Support Healthcare that will never be used.
“£1.4bn on one contract, paying for PPE that was never used, and Rishi Sunak’s fingerprints are all over it.
“That is money that could have been used to pay the salaries of 37,000 NHS nurses.
a series of Freedom of Information (FOI) Act requests to NHS Supply Chain.
The responses showed that of the 2.02 billion items of PPE provided by Full Support Healthcare, only 232 million items have been dispatched to the NHS or other care settings.
It is understood about 749 million items have already been burned or destroyed, while a further 825 million are classified as excess stock.
According to the report, the government had previously estimated about £85 million worth of PPE secured under the contract would not be used.
The BBC understands that at least £100m of additional public money has been spent on storing and incinerating the excess stock since its purchase.
The company struck a £1.78bn deal with the government to supply face masks, aprons, eye protection and respirators in April 2020.
According to the BBC report, this was the largest Covid-19 PPE order, accounting for 13% of the government’s total spend.
In January, DHSC accounts revealed some £9.9bn of the £13.6bn spent on PPE had been written off as some items were defective or not suitable, while others will not be used before their expiry date.
An accountability report by the National Audit Office (NAO) said that the department plans to dispose of “nearly all” of its current PPE stock held in warehouses and containers.”
Moixx, you thanked me for my reply but didn’t seem to read it.
I said if the SNP is expected to lose anyway, nobody cares what you do. Do you want me to pretend voting is some sort of sacred act or something?
If your primary goal is independence, the only possible scenario where your vote might matter is one where you use it to hurt the SNP. Nothing outside of that matters because nothing outside of that leads to independence.
Only when the SNP is a smouldering pile of ashes can any progress be made towards independence. That isn’t some rhetorical or abstract idea — it is a concrete truth.
Moixx: they are afraid to recall the GRCs (encouraged by the GRA 2004) and put a sex marker on them. They have reckoned that women and girls, the usual sacrifice for their own atrocious behaviours (see Gaza, Afghanistan, Iran, etc.) is a price they are willing to pay – as always. Not one of them has the foresight to even imagine the consequences of their virtue-signalling actions.
Hatuey/Dan: imagine if we were going into an independent Scotland tomorrow, but – here’s the rub – all of your civil and most of your human rights were to be removed first. Does that answer your questions? Few females in Scotlands except the handmaidens and the terminally gullible, want to go anywhere without a guarantee, in writing and in black and white, in public and before witnesses that our rights will be sacrosanct BEFORE we vote for anybody.
We want the GRA 2004 repealed. How dare you try and suggest that our basic human rights and hard-won civil rights are a ‘distraction’. Only as far as you are concerned, apparently. Frankly, I have been appalled at the luke-warm response by so many independistas on this issue. The gender woo woo is as dangerous as it gets for any country try in the West (and, indeed, elsewhere) because it is fundamentally a totalitarian movement which could consume and ruin Scotland in a generation. Before you accuse me of being a plant, I was an SNP supporter for many a long year and worked with other women, and men, to try and regain our ancient independence.
I can’t wait to see Nicola’s face on the election programme when the SNP crash
The question is will the MSM be gentle on her and blame Salmond, Humza, Swinney or Murrell.
How they treat her will be a reflection of them seeing her coming back to do more damage. Is she the plant??
The Alister Jack statement that he did not bet on the election date in May indicates that he placed the bet in June.
If only the opposition, the plebs or the police were capable of asking questions and nailing the bar steward.
Did you place a bet on the election at anytime Mr Jack.

I thought that by posting on this site we are already and continue to be active in politics, as we are able to float new ideas and initiatives that could be picked up on and become policy, whilst also critiquing the current political paradigm with all its flaws in existing policies and narratives we endure.
Admittedly my previous post was a bit of a rambling screed but that’s down to re-hydrating with a quick cider after traipsing around my locale chapping on some doors to speak to folk and work out just how many thousands of election leaflets have been delivered to the wrong constituency due to a screw up.
It’s quite something when Yodel out perform Royal Mail, because even though my last ebay purchase of a new old stock inlet manifold gasket was delivered 5 days late, Yodel at least delivered to the correct address, fuck sake Royal Mail couldn’t even deliver to the right constituency…
Anyway I digress…
In amongst it all I like to think I still cover some basic sensible ideas and call out some of the insanity of continuing with the current shambolic state of affairs.
If some oddball wants to sport their pronouns on their person then why don’t they jist make a badge themselves. Be brave and stunning and get all arts and crafty and fashion their own unique plastic pronoun badge out of an old yogurt pot and coloured sweetie wrappers to enlighten and impress their friends and work colleagues.
In these perilous times of planet armageddon and austerity there’s jist no need to be going full on industrial scale with plastic melting in a high energy intensive process to produce pronoun badges for everyone on this rock floating in space.
Talking of trashing the planet, did we ever learn where and how Robin McAlpine travelled to a holiday destination that required Factor 50 sunscreen.
I have staycations these days because living a more sustainable life to compensate for all the virtue signalling eco-wankers it means I need to be near home to tend and eat produce from my veg and fruit garden. TBH 36 strawberry plants was probably a bit overkill for one person as struggling to chomp my way through aw the fruit at the moment, though the neighbours seem happy enough to be getting a punnet handed to them every day.
Anyway, defo feeling a bit tired and weary tonight. Ach, maybe it’s just the adrenaline from nearly getting killed on my motorbike at the weekend due to not one but two dullards in their cars pulling out in front of me in a pincer move across my lane. Aye, straight road with clear view, biker riding at 30mph with lights on, and both these near brain dead cunts can’t see a vehicle with right of way coming towards them about 30 yards away. They both eventually notice and brake to a stop, encroaching a few feet into either side of my lane and I managed to thread the needle and come to a stop in the 4 foot gap between their two bonnets. Naturally a rake of fucks were given to both
driversimbeciles sitting in the driver seats. But at least I was luckier than the poor biker who got killed on the A9 30 minutes earlier.
Always strive to drive a bit better folks.
I was hoping there might be an independent candidate to vote for in my constituency of Cumbernauld & Kirkintilloch. There isn’t one and the nearest thing to it is the Reform candidate.I hear he is a bit of a balloon but in the circumstances possibly the best balloon on the ballot paper. I don’t want to spoil the paper or stay at home so he will get my vote. Pointless in the extreme as Labour will walk it but it will make me feel better and it will be interesting to see how many votes he gets.
Hatuey @ 9.19pm
I did read your reply, as well as your original comments. You think we should vote for any candidate that’s in a position to completely get rid of the SNP and that this will clear the way to independence. That’s fair enough, but to me it’s only a part of what’s needed.
I think we also need to resolve the gender issue, because until that happens we won’t be getting independence – ever. Even if the SNP is wiped out, the exact same problem will come up with any other pro-independence Party (or whatever vehicle), the rot will set in and we’ll just see it all happening again.
That’s just my opinion, but it’s also what I’ve taken from all the WoS articles posted on here over many years now, which have looked at the issue in depth.
Coca cola pays for the Palestinian war. Its the real thing man.
“It’s tempting to stay at home and contribute to what may be a very low turnout figure, but as noted above that’s a distinction without a meaningful difference, and the impulse to indicate democratic willing by at least showing up to the polling station to let them know they’re all scumbags is a strong one.)”
Ach I dunno so much.. John Nicolson cried his wee eyes oot for months after GE2017. He kept blaming a low turnout cost him his job to anyone who’d listen LOL

The gender issue is a direct instruction from the USA for all of its wee puppet regimes around Europe to adopt.
The UK won’t escape it until someone “man’s up” & tells them to GTF.
I’ve been following some EU commentary of late & Hungry seems to have let slip this directive & one he is pushing back on along with a few other more religious/conservative countries.
It confirmed to me what I’d always suspected – this is deliberate sabotage. No way was this TRA shit a grassroots movement. It appeared from nowhere & with instant results at cancelling ppl & to introduce new laws.
Neale Harvey is a top bloke & is a tireless MP – not just on indy matters bringing forth debates & seeking legal opinion on international law at Westminster & joining indy debates with Alba wee book etc but also for his constituents too where he secured refunds of money owed to them. See link below for a full list..
He’s also very approachable on social media & will respond to concerns. Not just tweet shit & leave like so many other MPs do.
link to centralfifetimes.com
Sorry Ruby but I’ve never heard him ever say “trans women are women” & he stands with Billboard Chris on the dangers of gender ideology.
I wish he was my MP. I’d vote for him without any hesitation whatsoever & I hope he keeps his seat especially after the SNP tried every trick in the book to try prevent him standing last time & he won it as an independent. Go Neale!!
On July the 5th, nobody in Scotland will care what the turnout was. Nobody will care what a few emotional fools wrote on their wasted ballot papers. Nobody will care about the principled angels who squandered their votes on candidates that have no chance of winning.
On July the 5th, Scottish politics will be dominated by one thing: the historic collapse in support for the SNP. You’re all invited.
You’re also invited to the discussions on what we do next which will inevitable take place as the SNP falls apart. It’s a pity some of you are so easily distracted by bullshit and won’t help us get there as fast as we would like, but I promise I won’t hold that against you.
Sturgeon’s SNP has been smothering Scottish politics and the independence movement for 10 years. On July the 5th, we start breathing again.
Nobody is ready for the electricity and excitement that will surge through the veins of the independence movement when the SNP dies.
That’s what this election is about; that and nothing else.
On July 5th fuck all will change for Scots.
The SNP will still be in power at Holyrood & a fuckwit English party will still be in power at Westminster.
@ Hatuey
” Another important reason is that we need to set an example for politicians in the future — fuck around and find out…”
Good point , H .
And when people say ….” aye , but what’s going to replace them will be just as bad – possibly worse ” tell them ….” we know , and the same thing will happen to them if/when they abandon everything they said pre-election and instead attempt to inflict outrageous policies we NEVER voted for on us ” .
The ” record-beating ” rapid decline of the SNP should be a warning to any Party/MP/MSP that thinks people can be treated like lumpen vote-fodder indefinitely .
Notable that all the * progressive * Rainbow Worriers are completely silent on the release of J Assange , just as they have been completely silent during the long years of his State imprisonment & psychological torture for telling the truth about the degenerates who govern us . Then again , this shameful silence has been the ( non ) response of just about the entire Political Class . Including ALBA .
Once again , that Party has wasted an opportunity to ” kick against the pricks ” and display some desperately needed independence of thought from the warped ,suffocating NeoCon agenda .
Silence = Complicity .
I see the Axis Of Arseholes – Mainellis -is back dribbling it’s laughable Poundland Propaganda .
Main’s resolve to display his hate-filled ignorance at all times strengthened by his latest visit to the Busby Front , where his cadre of retired traffic wardens have been involved in a ferocious rearguard action against Commie double-parkers n Maoist red-light-defiers . Slava Eastern Kilbride !
” Vast Majority ” #ASKANDY Ellis has also been busy , in his case trying to formulate a new phrase/insult to add to his existing mental libary of three – so far , unsuccessfully . Ach well , can’t be easy learning anything new when you already know everything .

You should have been there yourself. You might have even enjoyed some of it. You could have kept your undoubted scorn for us “90 minute patriots” to yourself, and just tried to have a good time.
If you want to deal with any of the facts Andy and myself presented in yesterday’s posts, fill your boots.
If you just want to hurl childish insults like the frustrated loser you come across as, then that works too, just not in the way you intend.
Sure, the SNP is going down on July 4th.
And sure, whatever comes after, you will have no part in it.
You and your ilk had your ten years to make Indy work. You blew it. There’s no second chance.

“You’re also invited to the discussions on what we do next which will inevitable take place as the SNP falls apart”
Gee, thanks.
The disgraceful, fraudulent crowning of Yousaf as FM of Scotland, the rejection of Regan and her Plebiscitary Elections plan, followed by her defection to Alba, were the multiple starting guns for the campaign that should have been culminating two weeks tomorrow with the election of a majority of Independents for Indy, sworn to starting the talks on the dissolution of the Union.
Instead … SFA. And Scottish Labour – Yay! We’re safely back home in our traditional comfort zone.
“electricity and excitement that will surge through the veins of the independence movement”
Aye, right.
But be feart not. As long as Rev Stu keeps this going, we can all continue to post vitriolic and sometimes even mildly persuasive mince BTL.
Whilst doing that stereotypical Scottish thing – looking to left and right to see if somebody else is going to put their heid above the parapet and do something.
Go on … do something … you first …
I look forward to the SNP getting thumped. Because of their cynical t(reache)ry they deserve to get thumped. FFS, there’s an Independence March in Bannockburn and these narcissistic cockshites are miles away at a Pride March. A few miles away? On a different planet more like.
However, I rather suspect when it happens, it’ll be like the quote from the Sink the Bismark movie… “I thought I’d be cheering, sir, at this point, but I’m afraid I can’t.”
These c*!$ts have thrown away Scotland’s Independence when it lay in the palm of our hands, then parade themselves at a Pride March. C*!$ts! C*!$ts! C*!$ts!
The SNP won’t curl up and die, it will bitch and winge like a spoiled brat, abdicate all responsibility for the absolute catastrophe they’ve presided over, and put superhuman effort into blaming the true Independence Supporters, the living “victims” of SNP t(reach)ery.
There won’t be any joy when the smoke clears. But there might be evidence of justice, and perhaps a lesson or two for professional gravy slurpers once their political careers are heaved onto the bonfire. That’s the only progess on offer at this election.
Breeks , I mind an Ayrshire Labour MP/MSP who lost his seat and was for ever given media time to whinge , I believe he was demanding a recount , terrible thing is I can’t remember his name only the irritation of seeing him on telly too many times.
I am thinking Scotland will hear that low , pulsating whine from the SNP MPs quite soon , and it will be cause for cheers not irritation.
I am not a fan of Alex Jones but this is a brilliant analysis of why we are on the brink of WW3 by kimdotcom. Very smart guy, can’t recommend it enough.

Have you ever heard him say they aren’t?
What difference does it make if men self-id or are diagnosed as ‘trans’ by a doctor.
They are still going to be a risk to the safety, privacy & dignity of women & girls.
The total madness at the root of all this is the idea that men can change sex.
Joanna Cherry, Kemi Badenock, Neale Hanvey are all going along with the idea that men can change sex.
They are saying that transwomen are women if the doctor says so.
Gender self-id.
Whether you celebrate this as a milestone for equality, deplore it or don’t give a fig, Wings BTL should stop kidding people on that it was under Sturgeon the SNP became a party of sexual reforms.
It happened under Alex Salmond’s domination of the SNP. It’s the same woke neo-liberal “equality” agenda that the SNP continued under Sturgeon etc.
It’s also under Alex Salmond’s control that Alba has been purged of women’s rights defenders and anyone else who objects to Salmond’s abuses of power.
I won’t be voting in England’s Imperial Parliament election. It’s England who decides our imperial masters anyway.

According to widely available online information, the states controlling nuclear weapons are China, France, Roossia, UK, USA, India, NK, Pakistan and Is-ra-el.
As far as I am aware, there is only one of these states threatening to use its nuclear weapons in a war of imperialist, militarist, colonialist expansion, and we all know which state that is.
I don’t necessarily object to people wanting us to cave to any state rattling its nuclear sabre. But it would be good if those in favour of capitulation would outline what it would mean for us all.
After all, the annexation of Eastern Europe in pursuit of some fantasy of historical inevitability is not going to benefit Scotland in any way whatsoever, eh?
And as for Scottish Independence in that scenario, don’t make me laugh.
Far better to get with the program animating the West, Europe and the EU we Scots supposedly all wish to join, and help push the Orcs back into their own country.
It’s not as if they are lacking in lebensraum or resources in there, eh?
@Ruby
“They are saying that transwomen are women if the doctor says so.”
I don’t know what they – Badenoch, Cherry, Hanvey- say, Ruby.
If men and women undergo surgical procedures of their bodies to undergo sex changes I think I might be willing to accept they have changed sex by way of surgery.
Changing “identity” by the will of an individual is a stupid, dangerous idea and policy to enable that is laughable, harmful. You are right to point to that as the root of the problem.
This is a cultural phenomenon that is likely to wane and vanish in time. Meantime, a lot of standing up for women’s rights needs to be done.
Keep looking out for Mr Idul. What happens to ERCC is going to be interesting.
Labour to ban conversion therapy. next up for battle.

It must rip the knitting of aw the wee nativists and vatniks, particularly the coterie infecting BTL comments here, that the vast majority of ordinary Scots are fully behind the total defeat of Uncle Vlad & his nice bunch of lads.
Other than in this place, you never hear such opinions in the real world, and of course it’s hardly surprising that the vast majority of them determinedly retain their anonymous online personas, because they know the public ridicule and opprobrium they’d be subject to for coming out with this kind of appeasement of naked, imperialist aggression.
Even their poster boy RoS, who is or was purportedly an Alba member, has consistently refused to “go public”, doubtless because he knows his views are about as popular as a fart in a sauna.
The only long term solution to the war in the east is not just the defeat of Uncle Vlad & his Orc mates, which means the total withdrawal of the Orcs from all of the territory they invaded including Crimea, the payment of suitable reparations just as German did after WW2, War Crimes trials for those responsible, but ultimately the destruction of the Federation itself as a clear and present danger to world peace.
Muscovy should be shorn of all it’s imperial possessions: this should hardly be an exceptional view for Scottish nationalists. There is no justification for Muscovite rule over anything east of the Urals, any more than there was for their imperial control of the former republics in Central Asia and the Caucasus.
The destruction of the last empire is overdue.

And bumping this one for Perth and Kinross-shire constituents as a reminder that continually electing someone to kick the Union to bits whilst they’re wearing comfy slippers is not an effective strategy.

Sally Hughes is the independent pro-indy candidate standing in the Perth and Kinross-shire constituency, so she offers the option to start afresh and usher in a much needed new era of representation for the area, ridding us of the current scourge and stagnation of Party dominated politics.
As one who is utterly disgusted by the state of things in the UK Politically, I firmly believe the starting point for any meaningful change is to both dump those currently in power (Tory, SNP, Lab in Wales) and deny the opposition (Lab, LD, Green) any votes, as they are equally complicit in the shambles we currently suffer.
Spoiling ballots or refusal to vote solves nothing, as one cannot affect any change by this method. Unless of course one is so disgusted by the choices offered that it is impossible to choose – in which case, it is the right thing to do. All that happens however is the tubthumping supporters of “them” (the assorted political miasma of ConDemLabSnipGreen shit) will make sure they get their votes in, so they end up by default with more seats and more of a say – which is absolutely not what we want.
Having studied the manifestos – not the keech leaflets pushed through the door, the actual facts – I will be voting for a “minority” party. And if enough do that, they will not be “minority” any longer and we will see change.
My conscience will be clear. I refuse to vote for a party that embraced fascism, locked the population away and put the fear of God into them whilst having behind-the-scenes piss ups (Tories). I refuse to vote for a party that last time round absolutely jumped both the economy and public finances whilst taking the hell out of the population and embracing the Green fascism crap (Labour). I refuse to vote for a party that, despite its name, is neither “liberal” nor “democratic” (LD). I refuse to vote for a party that has made an utter arse of health, education, transport in Scotland whilst bizarrely claiming to be “on our side” and can’t accept accept a bloke in the wig is not and never will be a “woman” (SNP). I refuse to vote for a party that is fascist, believes in total state control, wants to severely restruct my freedoms, take my job away and generally make life miserable, in addition to extolling the supposed virtues of nonces and weirdos (Green). They can all get stuffed.
Plenty of small parties with good manifestos that completely go against the above shit and if enough of us grow a pair and vote for them we can change things.
The Zzzio–Mons-ters won’t stop their G-en-o-ci-de, only force will stop them, but don’t expect the Gr-e-at S-at-an and its obedient minion the UK to step in to stop it, they are supplying the M-on-ster-s with all kinds of weapons and aid.
On wonder if the same Malaysian Court that found Blair and Bush guilty of war crimes with Iraq in mind (In Absentia) will do the same with Biden and Sunak, here’s hoping they will.
“An international human rights organization says Izzh-el is pressing ahead with a “systematic policy of targeting civilians” in the G–a-z-a Strip, including bombardment of shelter centers for displaced people and areas designated as humanitarian zones by the U-nited N-ations.
The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor in a Tuesday report said that by specifically targeting schools of the UN agency for Pa-lest-inia-n refugees (U-NR-WA), which function as shelter centers in the Ga–z-z-a St-ri-p, Izz-h-el “deliberately” aims to hinder security and deny displaced Pa–lest–inians, who are protected by international humanitarian law, stability or temporary shelter.
“By targeting UN-R-WA schools functioning as shelter centers, Izz-heli bombing tactics demonstrate a deliberate policy intended to prevent security across the entire G-a–z-za St-r-ip and deny displaced Palestinians stability or shelter, even if that shelter is only temporary,” the Geneva-based monitor said in its report.”
I was hoping Dr Strangelove would tell us who was going to sort Vlad out in the name of world peace. To put it another way, “whit yay gonnae dae aboot it?”
If there’s one thing we have learned over the last 2 years it’s that Western weapons are shit. Quality and technology aside, the whole West can’t even match the manufacturing capacity of an economy ranked about 12th in the world when it comes to producing basic artillery shells (that’s the stuff we were using to fight wars 100 years ago).
As for nukes, it’s hard to believe those who tightly control the western democracies (lol) — you know, the guys who own the yachts, the private jets, and the MSM propaganda machine, our politicians, etc. — are going to give all their privileges up over what is essentially a border dispute.
The conflict reached an important milestone this week when Moscow publicly attributed direct US involvement in an attack on a beach deemed to be their sovereign territory. Moscow also guaranteed a response. Sounds like fun, eh?
Bring it. The Euro football tournament has been a total let down and I’ve ran out of post-apocalypse movies.
The Kn-e-o-Kna–ttz-z-s of U destroyed a radiation monitoring post in the Zap-orozhye region, the fa-sci-sts are determined to try and blow up the ZNPP, which is Europe’s largest nuclear power station.
If this happens the prevailing winds added in with the Coriolis Effect, Europe could suffer from any radiation fallout that could be worse than Chernobyl.
But hey the Kne-oo Kna–tt-z-z–is of U and their Atl-anticists backers won’t give a toss they just want European nations to be drawn deep into war.
Andy Ellis: “It must rip the knitting of aw the wee nativists and vatniks, particularly the coterie infecting BTL comments here, that the vast majority of ordinary Scots are fully behind the total defeat of Uncle Vlad & his nice bunch of lads.”
Mark Twain: “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.
There are two sides to every war. We live in the West. Our media need a demon figure. The US have had a problem with Russia for 100 years. I am not saying anyone is on the right side here. War is wrong , and is never the answer. But why did the West allow a right wing Israeli state to commit mass genocide on Europe’s doorstep? Who supplied the weapons? Who is responsible for them being used to wipe out a people? The West!
OMFG at MainEllis
How can they be this fucking delusional when the guy is right there, in front of the whole wide world to see & hear, offering favourable peace deals & territory remaining intact, to a bunch of psychotic colonisers intent on WW3 & they STILL come out with such delusional propaganda.
This is surely a wind up. Two auld duffers looking for attention.
#AskAndy is full of shit. The vast majority are against war, colonialism, terrorism & invasion.
& Does he really need reminding who has actually not only used nukes but is begging to use them again to “send a message”
& This news just in – Crimea didn’t belong to U. It clashed since day one of U becoming independent & suffered terrible behaviour for daring to speak out against the coup of 2014 with many R speakers targeted for persistent cleansing. It’d be democratic to hold a referendum with external observers eh? It’s majority R population can decide in a ref that the propagandists will finally accept.
“The vast majority” are also against conscription, funding & supplying an unelected dictator who has absolutely zero authority in U to carry out the war crimes he’s doing to prolong that country’s torture including selling land, embezzlement, banning journalists, banning elections & forcing young ppl off the streets to go to the front lines.
The fact you two eejits are OK with all of the above says more about you than anyone else.
Livingston.
Vote Alba for your children’s future.

Neale is against Self-ID & all the dangers that brings to women & girls, the disabled & young vulnerable ppl confused over their sexuality.
He’s written a few articles for Wings on this subject. Maybe you missed them?
The Gender Act needs revisited but be fair – there’s only TWO Alba MPs against a sea of shit in WM. Maybe he has tabled something? It’s been a while since I last watched parly TV but I know he’s been present in various committees which is more than can be said for the majority of SNP eejits & he does speak out despite the backlash.
This from The Conversation. It is about polling public opinion.
“From the outset of the war, Uk rainians have been surveyed to elicit what they would accept as the price of peace. The question is difficult for Uk rainians who rightly feel victimized.
Research by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology since the outset of the w4r reveals overwhelming sentiment among Uk rainians against territorial concessions for immediate peace.
My own research with social psychologist Karina Korostelina in front-line southeastern Uk rainian cities revealed the overwhelming belief that Uk raine’s territorial integrity is sacred.
But so too, of course, is human life. Uk rainians are understandably divided over what should be prioritized: preserving territory or preserving lives.
Wartime experiences also matter. Earlier research suggested that those most affected by the war through displacement and most concerned about their immediate security are more likely to prioritize a cease-fire.”
We should all #AskAndy why he’s backing an unelected leader in U whose rein has expired & who has not only banned elections but also banned & jailed the opposition, defied public opinion on prolonging this war, banned polling, rewrote laws on selling land to foreigners & acting against his own country’s written constitution on remaining neutral with no foreign influence on their territory.
Him being the bastion of all things *fair & democratic* about holding refs & elections eh? He seems OK with all of the above.
*Tumbleweed*
We already know the answer tho. He’s not an indy supporter & is a meddler to sow discord.
Sam
He isn’t interested in taking land. He was forced to cause the colonisers persisted pouring in weapons which forced buffer zones.
His original peace deal was territory remaining intact. That’s now changed because as he’s said in his press conference – they’re serious about escalating & they’d only regroup & rearm themselves & start all over again because they’re not serious about peace. They want to break up R.
Minsk agreement was for this purpose – the colonisers double-crossed him to give U time to prepare. Now he won’t be as forgiving and will retain buffer zones until there’s an adult in the room & not psychotic warhawks.
@Geri
Receipts required. Feel free to point to your polling evidence. We’re not interested in your “feelz” or the woo-woo views of a coterie of moonhowlers in here who represent nobody but themselves and a few per cent of sophomoric cranks in the general population.
Most folks in the general population hate Uncle Vlad, Orcs and their vatnik fluffers in here and the very few with the guts to publicly own their regressive world view. Fringe nutters like Galloway or Craig Murray may enjoy disproportionate support in certain circles but they & their views have zero traction in national politics.
Evidence, Geri that’s the key. It seems a bit odd to be coming on a site like this and spouting your evidence free snake oil. Yu don’t represent anyone but a fringe of extremist at both ends of the political scale, and those paid to spout Muscovite agitprop. From your output it’s hard to believe anyone pays you, which tells us everything we need to know about you. 🙂
Perpetuating the biggest propaganda hoax in History,
We did not share a monarch with England at the tome of the treaty of union, Scotland had disoped of king James and the last Stuart line of Succession went to the Crown and throne of England.
Scotland became a Country with no Monarch,
The territorial Extent of Queen Anne at the time of the treaty of Union was ratified was England and Wales,, you can read this on the Union with Scotland Act passed by the parliament of England legal date 1706,
The act of succession and limitations Act and the Bill of Rights passed by the parliament of England is How the parliament and government of England claims Sovereignty of the parliament of England.
Republicofscotland point out yesterday why the Crown of Scotland could not be on the negotciating table in 1706/ 07. To join with the English Crown, union.
After the faux union was finished in 1707, a few months later but the same year the parliament of England passed an Act to Extend Englands territory and laws to Scotland
Article 11 , the treaty of union explains that the Crown of England and the parliament of England government are united in holding Sovereignty,
Thus it explains quite well, that The monarch of England , Queen Anne ( 1702) and the parliament
of England are not Shared with Scotland. In monarchy or parliament, after king James was disposed in Scotland.
Article 1 of the faux treaty of union States that the two kingdoms will be United when the treaty of Union comes into force,
Note : they were not Shared kingdoms under one Crown or one monarch, especially under the official status of the Monarch and territory of England. And the Scottish Crown was not Sovereign in Scotland, the people are,
The Scottish Crown still sits redundant and the kingdom and territory of Scotland still belongs to the people of Scotland.
The Scottish Crown is not included in the same the coronation ceremony on the same date of that that takes place in England,
The monarch of Great- Britain and the parliament of Great- Britain used to be (past tense) the monarch and parliament of England,
Scotlands treaty of union with the parliament of England Ended in 1707 when the Scottish parliament was put under dissolution from the parliamentary union by Great- Britain parliament in 1707.
Scotland never made or had a treaty of Union of “with” the parliament of The Great- Britain,
Geri; well said re. #AskAndy and GasMain.
As you know with those two clowns black is white, up is down left is right etc etc etc.
But the pair of them are pearl clutching and getting shriller again – wonder what’s pushing their buttons?
“Most folks in the general population hate uncle Vlad, Orcs”
You’ll have a long list of reasons then so let’s read them..
You know jack shit about anything & especially what “the majority” thinks on any given topic. You prove that with every single post you make.
But let’s test you on this one..
Name all the things you hate about uncle Vlad & Orcs..
Give us yer list..
Most folk couldn’t care less regarding YooCrane, Rushha, their egomaniac leaders, their goings on or our idiot “leaders” attempts to pour petrol on the warmongering flames. Same with the middle east. Sod all to do with us, keep out of it, keep quiet and let them sort it out.
Perhaps if our “leaders” cared as much for their own country and their own people as they claim to profess for both warzones above we may have a better state of affairs generally at home.
“I was hoping Dr Strangelove would tell us who was going to sort Vlad out in the name of world peace. To put it another way, “whit yay gonnae dae aboot it?””
Hatuey.
Eventually the West WILL need to go to war, especially with the PetroDollar going into demise, it will take awhile but it will happen.
The war will be fought in Europe because the Europeans are stupid, and bow to the Gre-at S-a-ta-ns whims via those treacherous b*stards that call themselves Atlan-ticists, they are bought and paid for much like SNP/MSPs/MPs.
The Global South is on the rise, the G-rea-t S-atan-s war against Rooosshh-ia has backfired spectacularly, in that it has sped the turn away from the dollar towards multi-currency exchanges. Sanctions have led to certain countries making their own essential parts and equipment which has cost western businesses a fortune as their parts and equipment are no longer needed, Biden’s war against Rooooshi–a has just quickened the pace on what was inevitable.
The divide will only get bigger and when the west is armed enough and feels it has enough confidence it will attack, first into the meat grinders will be the jack-ass Europeans who will sacrifice themselves for the Gr-eat S-ata-n-s interests, they be rallied on by N-at-o’s political officers the Atlanticists in Europe and beyond, its all downhill for everyone from there on in.
James
LOL
Maybe it’s cause the *international community* has turned it’s back on the West as their wee failed jamboree in Switzerland proved. Where no one was buying their propaganda shit.
Or maybe it’s the recent EU elections where warhawks were put on notice & voted out?
Or maybe it’s cause they’re being gubbed by conventional methods, ie on the battlefield, while they resort to civilian targets. (NATO seem to make an uncanny habit of that eh?)
Or maybe it’s BRICS? That’s ticking along nicely..
That pair are as senile as Geno Joe if they think it’s just Craig/Galloway & some cranks on the internet & should just sit down & STFU about stuff they clearly know sod all about.
The MSM has also lost the war on their propaganda pish. Those two obviously didn’t get the memo..
I’m off to go watch paint dry. It’ll give them time to fester..lol
Part of an Al Jazeera piece by Santiago Zabala and Claudio Gallo in March 2022.It explores the political philosophy that may guide V. P.
“What is most intriguing is perhaps how Dugin suggests R should push Atlanticism out of Eurasia and regain its global influence. He argues that to achieve this goal R must “destabilise internal political processes in the US”, encourage Britain’s exit from the European Union and begin the annexation of UK Rain.”
Na To expansion may be part of the reason but geopolitical expansion of R is also one.
@Geri
– the carpet bombing of Chechnya;
– the suppression of any opposition in Muscovy;
– the invasion of Georgia;
– the illegal occupation & attempted destruction of U know where;
– the poisoning of the Skripals and murder of Dawn Sturgess;
– the murders of Boris Nemtsov, Anna Politkovskaya, and Alexander Litvinenko;
– supporting Assad’s regime in Syria;
– supporting the mullahs in Tehran.
No reasonable person quibbles with any of the above. “Whataboutery” about the west being no better is no defence, quite apart from being a ridiculous false equivalence which instantly outs those using it as having no functioning moral compass.
That is of course why most of you choose to remain anonymous, because you know it’s not socially acceptable to fluff for mass murdering dictators, but just like pro Communist operatives during the Cold War, there are no intellectual gymnastics you won’t perform to try and cover up your collaboration and appeasement of dictatorship.
So, now I’ve answered your question, time for you to do likewise: where’s your evidence of widespread support for your loathsome views?
We’ll wait….
Spartan 117
There’s no profit in that. Colonisers always want more & the imperial crusaders couldn’t care less for the chaos in their own countries or the chaos they leave behind. They’re only interested in asset stripping.
The yanks created & funded a civil war. They thought it’d be a breeze. Huge mistake. Now they’ve ran out of U men & forcing it’s allies to enforce conscription. To fight a war that’s not theirs while the yanks laugh all the way to the bank & it hasn’t cost them much in the way of boots on the ground but it will for us when Sir Starved takes office & starts conscription for all over eighteens. Women included.
Oh aye & lest we forget we’re paying for this shit by funding & supplying weapons cause senile Joe says so or he’ll sanction, sanction & sanction some more cause they’re bullying barstewards who is losing their empire through no ones fault but their own by manipulating markets & weaponising the dollar.
Sooner someone hands their arse to them the better for world peace.
They cause death & destruction everywhere they go.
Opinion polling in youk Rain.
“R occupies approximately 18% of youk rain today, a figure composed of territories it controlled before February 2022 (Cry mea and the Don B ass) and territories it subsequently seized and retained. Some, but not much, territory has shifted hands this last year.
To most youk rains, it is unacceptable to hold only the territory it currently controls as the price for peace – 71% strongly reject this, another 13% less strongly in the survey.
Only 12% see peace based on current territorial control as acceptable.
Meanwhile, a majority declare it is fully unacceptable to return to the pre-2022 borders. Slim majorities also say it is unacceptable that youk rain renounces its aspirations to join N-A-T-O and the European Union as the price of peace.
These attitudes restrain youk rains leadership, as U.S. officials signal that they do not foresee youk rain retaking lost territory in 2024. Right now, it is safer politically to fight than confront an ugly peace.”

What a list of bullshit.
Skripals is one such fcking nonsense no one believes for a start. Including, I’m sure, this sites owner.
& Syria can be attributed to the yanks & I or is Assange a fcking crank now too?
Away & sit down ya rocket.

Eventually the West WILL need to go to war, especially with the PetroDollar going into demise, it will take awhile but it will happen.
Utter tosh of course. The west doesn’t need to go to war, nor is it inevitable, any more than it was between 1945 and 1995. Muscovy will collapse under the weight of its own political, social and economic shortcomings. If they’re lucky it will happen peacefully and relatively smoothly. If not, it’ll collapse in chaos and they’ll be Chairman Xi’s bitches the way Eastern European states used to be Soviet bitches in the past.
If the Europeans lack the balls to stand up to regressive, authoritarian regimes like Uncle Vlad and Chairman Xi’s, then they deserve everything they get. Luckily, most of those who are closest to the firing line like the Poles, Balts, Finns and Romanians, have experience of Muscovite rule in the past. They’re not going to let it happen again.
Ordinary Muscovites would be better advised to accept the dissolution of their imperial pretensions, do a Ceau?escu on their leadership, and accept integration of the rump of their state with the West. There’s as much future for Uncle Vlads pretensions as there was for those of the Ottomans or Austro-Hungarians in 1918.
First time in a while I logged on to Wings to read what the thoughts are, amongst the ‘intelligentsia’, on the forthcoming election.
As is normal, I always start at the bottom of the comments section and work my way up.I looked at 15 or so comments and gave up-it appears there is no election happening at all!!
Whilst I do not agree with everything that Andy Ellis and John Main (Hatey) write, they always make more sense than the deluded Wings stalwarts-RoS, Geri, James, Che etc etc. Do these individuals actually think that they represent the vast majority of Scots? Their thoughts and ‘feelings’ are shared by a tiny percentage of the electorate and actually turn sensible, sane people of ‘Wings’. Mental illness is a terrible affliction.
For what it is worth, I will be voting Labour in the GE as their candidate is best placed to oust the sitting SNP MP. For those considering spoiling their ballot paper, the reality is that they forfeit the right to complain about the UK government for the next 5 years. Unfortunately, it won’t stop them from doing so again and again and again.
The political system in Scotland and indeed the whole of the UK is in an almighty mess. Not a lot we can do about England and Wales but we can make a start in Scotland by obliterating the SNP. Vote accordingly.
@Spartan117 12.32pm
The kind of intellectual diarrhea that wouldn’t have been out of place in 1938. Czechoslovakia was “a quarrel in a faraway country, between people of whom we know nothing”.
Remind us how that worked out?
Sam
They are never getting into NATO or the EU.
A fact now openly admitted it was only a carrot to kickstart conflict. They’re Na-z & they’re corrupt as feck & guilty of embezzlement & crimes against humanity by cleansing R speakers long before 2014 coup.
Same really that Turkey is now finding out regards 15+ yrs of waiting on EU membership & now threatens their NATO membership if they’ll continue after being deceived for so long. Now informed it was never going to happen. It was just to noise up R.

I’ve no idea what Rev Stu’s view on the poisoning of the Skripals and murder of a British citizen by Uncle Vlad are.
I’d be quite surprised if anyone as evidence driven as Stu could look at the available evidence and come to the conclusion it was some western plot to discredit Uncle Vlad, but I wouldn’t dram of trying to speak for him.
It rarely works out well for those who do.
During the 2015 UK election, Tommy Sheridan went on social media to urge voters to lend their votes to the SNP as a way for the Scottish population to hold Westminster’s feet to the fire over their promises made during the referendum.
We know how that went but a point that Tommy made and I’m sure I am misquoting him but IIRC, he said that people have the right to vote for Socialist parties out of principle, even if the candidates only get a few thousand votes, but given the circumstances of that particular election, doing so would split the vote and allow Unionist candidates to be elected.
This coming UK election is different. I’m not sure that spoiling your vote or not turning up is a viable option. The only thing that matters is the votes cast against candidates and who wins. If as predicted Labour gets in and turnout is low, do you think they care if they are elected on say for instance low to mid thirties percentage of overall vote?
So what if an Alba/independent/ISP candidate gets a few thousand votes. It’s the principle that matters.
Obviously this is a personal opinion and everybody has the right to decide what they want to do on election day. For myself, I wasn’t planning to vote but luckily I am in a constituency where it is highly likely that the sitting SNP MP will lose and have an Alba candidate standing.
While the Alba candidate is realistically only going to get a few thousand votes, I’d rather vote for Alba as a form of gesture towards the political establishment. Even though it means nothing to them, it means a lot to me.
It’s none of my business but I fail to understand why people interact with Main/Ellis.
They/him/it is just looking down on you and laughing at you.
Ah, they’ve fired up the ‘Chas’ for backup… lolz
I’m so overcome by “meh” and disinterest in the machinations of WEF Drone politicians and Post-Soviet gangstas over a corrupt dunghole of a country bitterly divided between Pro-Europe and Pro-Rushah factions (not to mention some extremely stuff going on) I blatantly can’t be arsed offering any response.
Enjoy being called up for your WEF masters to go and fight a pointless battle in an alien land for an alien purpose. Don’t expect any tea and medals. They want you wasted.

Aye, the space cadets are out in force lol & here comes the petulant toddler to tell us all he’s bored except for Hinge & Bracket – he could listen to their pearls of wisdom all day long..
He seems to just conjure himself up as if by magic.
*Just like dat* It’s amazing.
RoS: “Eventually the West WILL need to go to war, especially with the PetroDollar going into demise, it will take awhile but it will happen.”
If you mean a massive WWIII type affair, I think it’s unlikely. The Western Empire (G7) is not just in decline, it has now been superseded by the BRICs economies which account for a greater share of global GDP — see link to statista.com
They’ll no doubt continue to bully and rob smaller countries — countries that can’t really hit back — and that is essentially what Western dominance always depended on, but the west hasn’t had much success even in those sort of conflicts lately. God, even the curved-sword carrying Houthis are giving them a run for their money. Afghanistan set a new standard for ignominious failure and withdrawal. There are many other examples.
In the east, where the west faces an opponent who can hit back, the outcome has been very predictable — systematic losses of men, material, and land. It doesn’t bode well for WWIII. Western military technology looks very out-of-date on the modern battlefield and it’s hardly surprising that the focus seems to have shifted recently to what are called “soft targets’.
But, as I’ve said before, collapsing empires almost always go quietly. There’s no doubt interesting reasons for that but I can’t think of a well-established Empire whose leaders decided running head-first into a brick wall was a good idea just as decline became certain and unavoidable.
When big business decided to export western industry to places like China in the 1980s, nobody listened to those who asked where that would leave all of us in 30 or 40 years. Well, now we know. All for a few fast bucks.
It’s much more likely that the western oligarchs will jump ship than start a major war. That’s what oligarchs usually do when it becomes clear that their number is up.
They’ve totally trashed the west, economically, politically, medically, morally, you name it. Why would they run the risk of losing everything for a bunch of countries that they have systematically destroyed? Better to just move on and do it all over again somewhere else…
Ellis
Really? You seem to get away with it continually.
Skripals event was so farcical & outrageous the whole fckn world was laughing at it. I’m sure you can use the search function tho to familiarise yourself with a recap.
& As for yer bullshit of Poland etc. Maybe you need to brush up on who created those countries & under whose control they’re under now. Also know the difference with Imperial empire & a country who possess no Sovereignty to make its own decisions but are under the full control of the USA since WW2.
Clue – it’s not uncle Vlad. He wasn’t party to the carving up of eastern Europe. The yanks & the Brits were despite winning fuck all during WW2
Irish Times, yesterday.
“youk rain has formally begun negotiations with the European Union about joining the bloc, in what has been described as a “historic day” for the country and Europe.
Olha Stefanishyna, youk rains deputy prime minister for European integration, said she was optimistic her country would be ready to join the EU before the end of this decade.
In the days after Rs full-scale inv4sion in February 2022, youk rain applied to start the years-long process of joining the EU. It was granted candidate status as a prospective member later that year, and last December EU leaders agreed to let it start accession talks. After several months of delays, an EU-youk rain intergovernmental conference was held in Luxembourg on Tuesday to formally open the negotiations.”
It was the desire of people in youk rain to join the e u and the reluctance of the R oriented PM, Yanukovych, to allow that which started the Maidan riots.
For those involved, the ‘Revolution of Dignity’ against pro-R president Viktor Yanukovych was the beginning of the confrontation with R.
#AskAndy; “….Rus-sian-s poisoned the Skirpals….”
Oh, ma sides, stop it!
Along with some rando child standing for snp, similar for lib dums, a labour grown-up female and an obvious conservative trougher, I have a reform female no photo id supplied, and a UKIP individual called Ho. Like you say, no choice there, so it’s either spoil or no-show. I’m favouring no vote as I don’t want to recognise their english parliament anyway and no doubt the liebour yoon will get in anyway. Sturgeon has a lot to answer for, like she ever will, and swindler is the ultimate jannie with his bucket of sawdust. Nothing to see, or vote for, here. Let’s hope the SNP get utterly decimated.

That is correct PacMan, though Tommy actually started stating it earlier just a couple of months after the 2014 Indref.
This clip is from Fat Sam’s in Dundee on 30/11/2014, and if the link works it should start at 14min 30secs where he explains unifying the pro-indy vote for the 2015 GE and getting behind the SNP.
As an aside iirc SNP MP Stewart Hosie also spoke at the event but wouldn’t enter the building whilst Tommy was still there. So possibly and early indication that the SNP had little interest in sharing a platform and working with the wider Indy movement.
youtu.be/r8n0H2eVCGE?t=874
Of course that was almost a decade ago and a lot has changed since then as the NuSNP did a real number on the YES movement.
Tommy has occasionally posted btl so it would be interesting to read his current thoughts, as it’s hard to believe after ten wasted years of NuSNP carnage across Scottish society he would still be supportive of a similar strategy?
I’ll try again with this link…

So?
Hope you’re not a closet Tory, Ruby?
If you are, it’s maybe time to come out of the bookies.
““youk rain has formally begun negotiations with the European Union about joining the bloc, in what has been described as a “historic day” for the country and Europe.”
Its absolutely shameful that the EU is going to admit a Kn-e-o Kna-t-tz-i (failed) state into its bosom, mind you with v-on d-er Le-yen at the helm, and G-er-many never seeing a g-en-oci-de it didn’t like (Nam-ibia, WWII, G-a-z-z–a) one shouldn’t be surprised by this.
Its a historic day alright but for all the wrong reasons.
Lets be clear, the SNP only stand for the SNP and aren’t the slightest bit interested in independence. Like the Tory pants-pishers and Labour dribblers, they’re only in it for what they can get; I.e. voted in, cream off what they can and sod all else. Pishfart and Blubberford want peerages for a lifelong ticket on the gravy train. Oink oink.
Anyone who wants independence and votes SNP needs their head looked at. Just as the Tories won’t cut taxes, Labour won’t look after working people, LDs won’t give you a Liberal Democracy or the Greens won’t do any good for the environment, the SNP will not get Scotland independence.
@RoS – indeed.
It amazes me further why anyone in this day and age would want to be part of the thoroughly undemocratic technocracy that is the EU. Many so-called Scottish “independence” supporters especially.

“Western military technology looks very out-of-date on the modern battlefield”
Woo hoo, spoiled for choice as to which roaster should be up first, but Hatuey, it’s your lucky day.
Point 1. Much “Western military technology” has not even been tried yet.
Point 2. Just as when you pebble dash the pan, you usually hit the seat too, so you do have a tangentially pertinent point.
Just as the military technology of those countries that sat out WW1 and WW2 mostly came to naught thereafter, all western governments will have been briefed that the longer they sit this one out, the more obsolete their systems are going to become.
Two and a half years and counting. Technology, tactics, drones, defence systems, you name it. Already changed out of recognition by the white heat of technological advance that always happens when it’s kill or be killed.
Trump’s maxim: MAGA.
Not going to happen unless the USA is in it to win it.
“even the curved-sword carrying Houthis are giving them a run for their money”
Haha, the Hotties are hurling their curved swords at passing ships are they? Get a grip, man.

“Czechoslovakia was “a quarrel in a faraway country, between people of whom we know nothing”.”
Colonial domination is a consequence of the actions of elites in an imperial metropolitan capital and the colonial mindset developed by an oppressed native people. Scots do not need to look to a ‘faraway country’ to find our oppressor, for he is next door and among us.
@ Republicofscotland Ignored says: 26 June, 2024 at 3:22 pm
When you going to learn to spell “Scotland”? You come across on here as dodgy as a £4 note.
“G-er-many never seeing a g-en-oci-de it didn’t like”
For a start, they don’t like the Holomodor. These things cast a long shadow.
As for your trumped up Jenny Side in Humous Land, you should have given up on that one while you were still ahead.
Focus is shifting to Lebanon now. I expect that when that one kicks off, we’ll get some numbers more amenable to being called Jenny Side.
Have your justifications ready for why it doesn’t count if it’s Dews getting genocided. We all expect you to parrot that line, at the very least.
It is hardly likely that youk rain can reasonably be called na-z-i. The president, Zelensky is Jewish and was elected with 73% of the vote in his favour in 2019.
In February 2023 his popularity rating exceeded 90%.
His popularity among European nations is generally good but not universal.
One of the criteria for EU membership is: “..stable institutions guaranteeing democracy, the rule of law, human rights and respect for and protection of minorities;..”
youk rain has started down the road of EU membership.
This is not to say that the country is entirely free from neo- n-a-z influence. The Azov battalion, around 900 members was/is? neo n.
p’s claim that youk rain as a whole country is infected by this problem is a lie, uttered to support illegal actions.
Not so long ago the influence of the serviette state strongly influenced youk rain.
The latter country voted overwhelmingly for independence in 1991. Some 90% of the people voting favoured independence, with a turnout of 84%. Prior to the vote hardline elements in the serviette onion had tried to stage a coup to re-form the onion.
Independence revealed youk rain to be deeply corrupt. A legacy of the serviette onion, the only country judged more corrupt.
There is research into the issue of snazziness at much greater length at the link.
