Wings Over Scotland

Talking nonce sense

Posted on April 12, 2021 by

The furore over a declaration signed by a number of Scottish organisations which appears to clearly call for the age of sexual consent to be reduced to 10 continues today, with a couple of appallingly biased articles in the Scotsman and the Times which attempt to use the controversy to attack both the Alba Party (as a distraction from its powerful key manifesto release on women’s rights) and this website.

Even just the tweet above by the author of the Times piece fails all kinds of basic journalistic standards of impartiality, but the article itself is vastly worse.

At its core is a “clarification” of the declaration:

But that’s an extremely disingenuous framing, because every known reputable organisation on Earth defines the starting point of adolescence as at or around 10 years old and ending at 19, and those are, in fact, numbers. But even taken at face value the line suggests that what the declaration is demanding is the decriminalisation of sex with people who are “in between childhood and adulthood”, which is exactly what most people would have understood “adolescent” to mean in the first place.

Or in other words, calling for the legalisation of sex with people who aren’t adults, which again is exactly what most people already understand by the word “paedophilia”.

But then it got even weirder. Because unusually for a Scottish mainstream-media hack, McLaughlin has been engaging in social media debate on the article. Which is when this happened:

Which is a quite extraordinary interpretation of these words:

The declaration certainly does mention healthcare. But only as one of a list of things unambiguously including the right to “provide consent to sex”. You don’t need to have sex with someone to give them healthcare. To pretend that the contentious lines are ONLY about healthcare is a quite astonishing level of flagrant misinformation, and what Mark McLaughlin’s motivation might be for doing that – and for defending it at such length – is quite beyond our imagining.

But as obviously absurd as it is, it’s a line that’s being widely punted by apologists, including by the co-chair of the extremely toxic Aberdeen Independence Movement.

Gillies also, however, appeared to contradict himself in the same thread, when he stated that the object of the declaration WAS about the age of consent, specifically to allow adolescents to have sex with each other, which as our original piece noted would mean 19-year-olds being able to legally have sex with 10-year-olds.

All that’s required to definitively clear up the matter is for a journalist to ask the organisations who’ve signed the declaration to give a simple and direct answer to this question, which is entirely quoted from it:

”Do you or do you not wish to eliminate all laws and policies which limit the legal capacity of adolescents to consent to sex?”

(To which the obvious follow-up, were they to answer “No”, would be “Then why have you signed up to a document that says you do?”)

To furiously wriggle and squirm and evade making such a straightforward clarification, and embark instead on a slew of hysterically-worded attacks on the people asking the question (as has been happening all weekend), is deeply, deeply suspicious, as is the failure of supposed professional journalists to ask that question.

It’s popular these days to call such behaviour “gaslighting”, a horrible and non-intuitive word this site is on record as loathing. So we’ll use a term that’s a bit earthier but a lot more self-explanatory: pissing on your shoes and telling you it’s raining.

This is why legislation has to be very tightly and specifically written, so there can be no ambiguity about it. It’s why legislation should go through a long process of legal advice, debate, amendments and sense checking before being put into law. It’s why words and the definitions of words matter so very much for making law. And all of that is precisely what has been, and is being, very deliberately undermined in legislation like the new GRA and HCB. Once you strip words of meaning, make things deliberately vague (eg gender not sex) and create word salad legislation what you have is no longer real law but simply interpretation.

Surely in 2021 we cannot have groups such as these linked to our government, let alone being directly funded by the Scottish Government which is funded by us, the Scottish tax payer.

The SNP Scottish Governments’ silence on these issues is damning, they should immediately be pulling any and all funding from these groups based on thier very sick and shady histories alone.

Public money should not be spent on NGOs who promote and/or are linked to peadophilia and child abuse, any MSP or minister of government who sticks up for such groups should be immediately ejected from the Scottish Parliament and be permanently barred from standing in elections.

‘The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, ‘which is to be master — that’s all.’

Alice was too much puzzled to say anything; so after a minute Humpty Dumpty began again. ‘They’ve a temper, some of them — particularly verbs: they’re the proudest — adjectives you can do anything with, but not verbs — however, I can manage the whole lot of them! Impenetrability! That’s what I say!’

‘Would you tell me please,’ said Alice, ‘what that means?’

‘Now you talk like a reasonable child,’ said Humpty Dumpty, looking very much pleased. ‘I meant by “impenetrability” that we’ve had enough of that subject, and it would be just as well if you’d mention what you mean to do next, as I suppose you don’t mean to stop here all the rest of your life.’

‘That’s a great deal to make one word mean,’ Alice said in a thoughtful tone.

‘When I make a word do a lot of work like that,’ said Humpty Dumpty, ‘I always pay it extra.’

‘Oh!’ said Alice. She was too much puzzled to make any other remark.

These magazines went through EVERYTHING from puberty, to elderly sex, with everything in between. There was even editions on homosexuality.

Non of it was pornographic, The middle page in each magazine was descriptive with a couple in different poses. All Natural.

What is being spouted out here with the Stonewall cult is quite disgusting & not appropriate for a loving respectful relationship with someone of the same sex, or opposite sex, or Marital partner.
It comes across to me as pornography, not what a consensual respectful relationship should be.

To be honest, for once I’m not at all convinced by either side in this business. It is not inconceivable that some paedophiles were pushing something via a very bureaucratic and lengthy resolution; but I doubt it. These things have zero effect, and though there can be all sorts of shite in them, they might as well not be there – otherwise there wouldn’t be world child poverty and Israel would have been censured for its actions over the Palestinians (subjects of all sorts of worthy resolutions over decades). And world poverty and an oppressive Israeli govt are still there. Do I think that the Sturgeon camp wants to reduce the age of legal child sex. No. Don’t see the evidence – and this isn’t it. Do I think there could be some nutters around Sturgeon and her coterie with very weird ideas? Oh yes. This issue? Not at all sure. But I increasingly feel that what has gone on at the top of the SNP is a snow job (and not the sort they snort) – manipulating naive and often unpleasant, young lobbyists for trans rights to smoke out and attack various people the Murrells and the Robertsons and others felt were a danger. Salmond of course was one. Quite frankly, Wings is another. Tar them with all sorts of allegations (you know this from your own personal experience Rev) and the comments will – they might hope – fill up with alt-right types. Maybe not yet, and they didn’t get Salmond, but their plans, and their abilities to carry out their plans, are two different things. The only real point about Alba is to get someone into Holyrood who can politically embarrass and force Sturgeon into taking harder action towards independence (or any action at all). If we can’t get Alba in, it’s pretty lost for the decade, I suspect. But this age-of-consent stuff – really not convinced here. Not a unionist; not pro-child sex (damned right not); but I do see the clumsy but powerful hand of the Murrells and Robertsons here. Anyway – all I’ve got to say. Thanks. Sorry it was long.

Can’t say I’m all that fond of it myself and it does tend to obfuscate and obscure rather than enlighten, but, then, I’m just an old fogie – a ‘boomer’, apparently, trying to be hip. Apologise? Nah, I’m done with apologising for stuff that doesn’t actually matter, but I won’t use it again.

Queer theory’s whole point is that prohibitive laws should be torn down and replaced with ‘freedom to be and do as you please’, basically. The philosophy behind it is seductive, but its end point can only be anarchy and sexual anarchy – anything goes. Like all political/sociological philosophy, it fails to take into account human nature and its perversions, in all senses, not just the sexual.

Human beings certainly have a good, altruistic side, but we are also cursed with a dark side – all of us – and queer theory does tend to appeal to the dark side. Those who don’t see that are either wilfully dismissive for their own ends or just fundamentally misunderstand its end product. It doesn’t take much to just question what you have swallowed and think that, maybe, it was not what you thought it was, and admit that.

This person had their dad as their campaign mamnager, I believe, until it turned out that their dad was about to be convicted on charges of filming and photographing himself giving electric shocks to a ten year old girl whilst he was dressed as a little girl wearing a nappy. When the Greens sensed that the greater public maybe weren’t quite ready for stuff like this yet they asked this person to leave at which point they tried to sue them for transphobia. The Lib Dems then took this person on as a candidate, they are the Lib Dems, after all. When this person moved on from the LibDems they were given a job at Reddit at which they and their husband ran private groups for people with interests in trans paedophilia and incest. When people complained to Reddit about this they were banned under its doxxing policies, that is the the people who complained. Reddit eventually removed staff status from this person but I think still allows them to run their groups, I may be wrong there.

People think the dark web is where people like this have groups and meet up, it isn’t, it’s now big tech which not only allows them to do so and sometimes makes them staff. We are being dictated to by a tiny minority of what are, in my opinion, seriously damaged people and they get to do this because big tech and the media are behind them and we have to start asking questions with regard to why this is the case.

sturgeon is panicking. Good . She will now make more mistakes. She was repeatedly warned and she chose to ignore the people doing the warning. Hell mend her.

Hopefully not enough to lose lots of SNP constituency seats (except of course her own, humza useless, shirley-anne hypocrite, angus robertson macbeth and john swinney ) but enough to frighten some backbone into SNP MSPs.

The defence of noncery (is that a word ?) is inexcusable. And should never be forgotten.

I may be shooting myself in both feet if the STV don’t give Alex a spot in the leaders debate. LOL

I will invalidate both injunctions as I threatened STV if they don’t give Alex an equal billing in the leaders debate.
I will not mention the person who had a genuine complaint, she is innocent in this matter, she was used by NS.

I will however, though not on this site. bring the liars out into the open. The second injunction is covering up Nicola Sturgeon & is of a more personal matter in her private life.

She says Alex isn’t fit for public office. Yea right! I hear you Nicola. Are you?

I remember as a young 23 year old when I landed in New Zealand the pilot told us to turn our clocks back 7 years. It was a derogative term, making fun of a colony of the UK.

You know what! I’m glad I live in New Zealand, we don’t have the corruption in politics as you have at the moment.
Kids still play in the street & where I live I can go up town without locking my doors.

My grandchildren live in Singapore & I’m thankful for that. “Though I do miss not visiting because of covid19”
There is no way stonewall will be able to infiltrate into Singapore. It has to be one of the safest countries to live in.

There’s no religious prejudice there & women are safe walking alone at night. Yes it’s a highly policed country, the benefits for the people & their children are worth it.
It’s also the cleanest country I have visited.

When you think how poor the Singaporeans were when they were a colony, to how they are now. It’s breathtaking.
Lee Kuan Yew, a young Cambridge-educated lawyer, became the first Prime Minister of Singapore.
He did so much for Singapore & her people.

What Scots need to realise, You need a strong leader to move you & your country forward. I truly believe that person is Alex Salmond.

Dear Iain, I think the Sturgeonite McWokeists did create a political party, or rather steal one by robbing the nest of a once honourable political movement, cuckoo style. It is now called the…

    Sturgeonite Nonce Party.

Seriously, just think about all that has been led in evidence on the WoS website over the past three years.

A decent and noble political institution has been taken over by perverts and paedophiles or those that promote paedophilia. Even if you disagreed with the SNP it USED to have principles. No SNP party member would accept a knighthood or become a dame. None would accept a seat in the House of Lords.

Now we have SNP members such as auld squishy pishy pants Pete Wishart wanting all three. Lord, Sir Pete Wishart, Great Dame of the British Establishment and Speaker of the House of Commons. Soon to be promoted to Governess General of the Scottish Colony.

Every single member of the Sturgeonite Nonce Party (McWoke division) needs reporting to the police unless they immediately cease breaking the CURRENT law. You may think this OTT, but the Sturgeonite Nonce Party are the ones bringing in Gender Reform and its counterpart silencer enabling legislation, the Hate Crime (Scotland) Act onto the statute books without thinking of that very important other law, is…

    The Law of Unintendd Consequences.

The Sturgeonite Nonce Party forgot that ordinary punters and voters know…

Evil triumphs when good men and women fail to act.

For a large number in the Scottish Nonce Party, they are now actively promoting peadophilia and with that, the Scottish electorate will not put up with. By that, I mean Hapless Humza has made the biggest Bourach of ultra vires fest to ever hit a first world nation. Regardless of whether or not Alba can bring Holyrood back from the edge of terminal disrepute and closure, the Sturgeonite Nonce Party are about to get the Queen to give Royal Assent to two of the most contradictory pieces of legislation to hit the statute books.

Nicholas Sturgeon, Penfold Murrell, Aalyyn Smythe, Angus Robertson, Linda Fabiani, John Swinney, Mhairi Hunter, Humza Hopeless and Derek MacKay etc., are on a one way ticket to Tony Blairdom.

    Tick Toxic, TickToxic.

There’s an unhealthy focus on children in a lot of SNP policies. From the ‘named guardian’ scheme to encouraging kids to take puberty blockers, and now this.

The pitch cloaks it in talk of health, mental and physical, but that can’t be the concern; if they’re concerned about children’s health, why don’t they do something to address child poverty and falling educational standards?

They’re very deliberately and systematically trying to sexualise kids. That’s the common thread in all this. It’s scary.

“PM will allow second referendum if SNP wins, says Sturgeon” – Guardian report
Good to know that everything’s under control and we all know exactly what we need to do when the polls open. Rev Stu can now start planning for his retirement.

    It’s more insidous as that.

if SNP wins says Sturgeon. Whereby she gives a get-out clause to the Westminster clown show. They can interpret the result of the Holyrood Election any which way they want.

What is it to WIN in an election, a mixture of FPTP and regional Additional Member System to make it more proportional representation.

Well, most Scots, even pro-independence ones, commenting on here seem to think along the lines of Westminster politics.

What is a “WIN” in the madhouse of Westminster-imposed Scottish politics? A one-party government? Biggest party?

Sturgeon is setting the bar at HER party, not her party and one or two others pro-independence parties, getting a majority, in a parliament.

Just stop to think. This woman has once again sold Scottish people’s soveregnty to the English parliament. She’s saying unless her party (SNP) have majority, she won’t pursue independence.

What about all the othe parties pursuing independence?

A voting system designed NOT to give ANY party a majority. She’s hoping to replicate the fluke Alex Salmond had in 2011. She doesn’t understand it’s almost impossible to replicate. She doesn’t know or understand how the voting system works. So she just demands “both votes SNP” for her own personal glory.

What she’s actually saying is agreeng with Boris Johnson and the old Westminster political culture.

Nicola Sturgeon is one of the biggest ("Tractor" - Ed)s of the Scottish people and their sovereignty. Never mind her snazzy tartan high-heels.

Specifying that if the SNP win a majority – not the SNP and other INDY parties – Boris Johnson would have to… er… say you don’t have a majority (in a parliament designed to not have overall majorities, but that won’t matter to Bozo and his mates.

Jeez, has there ever been a more incompetent Scottish politician than Nicola Sturgeon? (Unless you go into tinfoily stuff, MI5 and all that, when it begins to make sense.)

The dangerous thing is that this oedious woman frames all of Scotland as her domain, hers to give away. As if the tamed SNP represented the views of most Scots.

Nicola Sturgeon must know it’s very close to all crashing down over her head, but maybe she hopes (or knows) she’ll survive the Holyrood Election.

Alex Salmond and the Alba Party are fighting from an underdog position (hasn’t Alex Salmond done that most of his political life, lol!), the MSM are now treating his old party the SNP as one of the established, unionist parties as to election debates, not giving platform to the Alba Party… Should give anybody pause.
