URGENT: HELP NEEDED

Posted on June 18, 2012 by

We think our brains may have been completely fused by a story in today’s Daily Record, which is based around comments by Rutherglen Labour MSP James Kelly, pictured below in a scene from the particularly bad acid headache he’s just given us.

Here’s the bit that’s been making our minds spin round and round and round in circles this morning until we’re dizzy trying to make sense of it:

ALEX Salmond was accused of “double standards” yesterday over his efforts to woo Rupert Murdoch. Labour raised further questions about the First Minister’s links with Murdoch following claims the media mogul lobbied Tony Blair to wage war in Iraq.

Former spin doctor Alastair Campbell said in the latest volume of his memoirs that Blair “took a call from Murdoch who was pressing on timings, saying how News International would support us, etc”.

Salmond won plaudits across Scotland for his outspoken opposition to the war which he described as “the most disastrous foreign policy decision of recent times”. But it did not stop him from trying to get closer to Murdoch to win The Sun newspaper’s backing for the SNP.

Labour MSP and chief whip James Kelly said: “This could make the conversation a little uncomfortable the next time Alex Salmond has Rupert Murdoch round to Bute House for tea and biscuits. Alex Salmond was against the Iraq war but that didn’t stop him cosying up to Rupert Murdoch. This is classic double standards from Alex Salmond who is prepared to put his party’s interests ahead of any issue.””

Let’s try to talk our way through this slowly: LABOUR is attacking the SNP for not being sufficiently critical of RUPERT MURDOCH when he backed LABOUR Prime Minister TONY BLAIR over going to war in IRAQ in 2003? What, seriously?

That can’t really be it, can it? Labour, who instigated the illegal war that left hundreds of thousands dead, attacking an opposition party who voted against that war (and which actually tried to impeach Blair for it) for not being critical enough of a newspaper proprietor whose papers enthusiastically backed Labour at the time and who made Tony Blair godfather to one of his children, because when subsequently in government it had a couple of meetings with that newspaper proprietor (also one of Scotland’s largest private-sector employers) the best part of a decade later?

Are we dreaming this stuff? Please tell us we’re dreaming it.

No, you’re not dreaming, it’s the warped perspective of the ‘old’ parties who seem to have no conception of how ridiculous they make themselves look when spewing this kind of rubbish.
Wouldn’t it be nice to find a new way of conducting political discourse? Oh, wait, we have the Scottish National Party to show us that new way.
I’m voting ‘yes’ to Scottish independence for a better future away from the English parliament and its corrupting ways of “doing business”.

Haves never commented on here, to date. However, this Beelzebub type “spin” reaches new for the unionistas’ dark & satanic propaganda mills: Goebbels-esque.

Macart

Cracker isn’t it Rev? I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that one.

MajorBloodnok

I think they’re using George Orwell’s writings as a manual and not a warning.

Arbroath1320

Any chance this might explain it?

@MajorBloodnok

I don’t think they are reading George Orwell at all – most likely its inspired by the Goons napoleon of crime; Count Jim Moriarty of the house of Roland. with wee willie rennie playing the part of his side kick Hercules Grytpype-Thynne.

But to the story – It’s a real slap of the forehead,WTF moment. In a comment I made about McMhahon I stated that labour had become cartoonishly inept. But this…this is actually beyond parody. It’s insane.

Bugger (the Panda)

Right thread!

In the 1960’s there was a US Sci-FI series in B&W which started with the words of a control voice vis

“There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to — The Outer Limits.”

Labour is really out there, deep in uncharted surreality.

They’ll be pretending they are not socialist any more.

Kenny Campbell

Surely Salmond has done exactly the opposite of what he has been accused of previously by Harris et al. Took the complete opposite stance of the newspaper view, regardless of hiw desire to keep jobs in Scotland…

On the fashio front James needs to think about getting his haircut in a barbers , that cut his mum gave him isn’t quite with it enough for trendy lefties.

redcliffe62

Gardham writings are bizarre at best of times, but this is the writings of someone seriously disturbed as it is something a 10 year old would not write.

Doug Daniel

Wow, there have been some cracking haircuts by Labour MSPs in the past, but this one is a real winner…

Siôn Eurfyl Jones

Slightly tangentially, but isn’t it nice to see Tonly Blair subject to an attempt to (citizen’s) arrest him  wherever he goes these days? there is of course, a bounty on his head  , accused of War Crimes. I would remind your readers also that it was the Plaid Cymru MP, Adam Price who instigated the impeachment proceedings against slobodan Blair!

Pete

I thought the picture was of James Kelly still on the trip in which his logic actually made sense. Maybe he will “stand by his comments” à la McMahon after the comedown?

Stuart Crawford

I guess we can add “what if Humpty Dumpty had been a scotch egg?” to the list of questions that didn’t need answering but, inexplicably, have been.

Juteman

He has a point though.
Alex does keep tropical fish in his underpants, so who knows?
Wait a minute, that was Alexi Sayle. Sorry.

Tris

I suppose that if you can’t find anything to criticise the SNP for, what you have to do is invent stuff, too complex for your followers to analyse. The result: James Kelly and his warped logic.

There are doubtless, however, tonight, people all over Scotland, who will be shaking their empty heads and nodding in agreement.

Mind you, maybe not…you only have to get a headline in the Record. Most of its readers don’t go much further than that unless  tits, “celebrities”  or football is involved

YesYesYes

I can explain James Kelly’s fetching haircut. It is designed to hide the work of the surgeon who lobotomised him.

Juteman

If this sort of stuff was being pointed out by a true, impartial media, Labour would be a laughing stock.
Unfortunately, that isn’t going to happen. Even if this was highlited by the MSM, AS would get the blame for causing mental illness amongst Unionist MSP’s.

We are in control….You will obey…EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE!!!!!!!!

YOU MUST OB,,,,,,,,,,,

To think I used to hide behind the couch and watch between my fingers…and that was at some far-fetched TV monsters, never mind the Labour party…and they had some serious politicians at that time…laugh at them both now.

Good grief, I hadn’t realised that God was a Unionist:

@MajorBloodnock

Ah, the church. Seemingly forever at the heart of politics whilst wiping its hands clean of the consequences of its actions.

Love this bit: The Rev MacColl added: “We are very uneasy about any move to secularize, or even change the existing arrangements.” He said the church could not tell people how to vote in a referendum on independence, but could warn them.

So somehow gaining independence will mean people will take even less interest in the church or religion????

Interesting, that’s almost as big a leap of logic as the subject of this article.

Thee Forsaken One

Well the Wee Frees were never known for their eagerness to embrace change. They only started singing hymns a year ago!

As it is, Islanders and Highlanders tend to be more independence inclined than Lowlanders so I don’t see them suddenly changing their mind despite what the Wee Frees say.

YesYesYes

Good grief! Now it’s an alliance of the Orange Order, the Scottish Labour party, the Tories and the Wee Frees – an ‘axis of evil’ if ever I saw one.

Doesn’t this news about the Wee Frees put a spring in your step? These four organisations contain some of the most conservative, reactionary and bigoted members of our society, and they’re all on the same side. Yipee!

John Lyons

I can’t remember exactly, but Lamont and Sturgeon were on Newsnight Scotland a while ago and Murdoch game up. Give him his due, he’s an annoying so and so, but he callenged Lamont on Murdoch to which her response was “Yes, but we learnt from our mistakes”

Labour Honestly believe it’s okay for them to get things wrong and to be the first to point out the errors others make.

Waste of space the lot of them, and I think Brewer gave Lamont a hard time about it because even he, arch unionist that he might be, propaganda agent of the BBC that he almost certainly is, even he cannot stand the inept leadership of Lamont.

Phew. Is it me or is it hot in here? I think I need a lie down!

Jim Campbell

What a moronic statement !

AND to add insult to injury,
This is the MP for my area.
I didn’t vote for him, but this
Is rutherglen and the “donkey with
The labour rosette” situation applies.
