It’s three months since our last traffic-stats update, so we’re due again.

WINGS OVER SCOTLAND JULY 2015

Visits: 1,147,571

We’ve included comparisons for a year ago as well as a month ago, because those are the ones we’re really startled by. This time last year the referendum was just six weeks away, whereas now we’ve just had two months of post-election summer and a hefty chunk of recess with no indyref campaigning to fill the gap.

We’ve also taken the opportunity to recharge our own batteries a bit after three and a half years of pretty much non-stop work (June and July 2015 saw just 117 posts on Wings compared to 184 last year), yet despite this period of shameful slacking we’ve still added almost 80,000 extra readers over that 12-month term.

We honestly didn’t expect that. But it looks as though Scotland’s political awareness and engagement, once awoken, doesn’t feel like going back to sleep any time soon. Once again, thanks for reading, for sharing, for all your comments and tip-offs, and of course for the astonishing financial support. As long as you’re here, we will be too.

Impressive, Rev! The continued growth in readership is testament to “the Scottish question” not going away any time soon and support for indy remaining high.

The quality of the articles and analysis remains impeccable, so despite you “taking it easy”, you still seem to put in more graft than I manage in an average day! 🙂

It’s now the first site I visit when I get home at night. I used to be one of those brainwashed masses who simply accepted that the press couldn’t be lying, the gov wouldn’t allow it. It’s only since I started viewing WOS I realise the uk gov actually REWARD IT!

Talking of rewards, good to see the system is consistent, and yet another brainless ukok mouthpiece got her peerage.

Well done Stu, you are quite literally a haven of sanity in a world gone mad. Can’t express the deep gratitude that I feel for yourself and all the commenters who have made Scotland one of the best countries in the world to be from and live in during this historical period that we are all a part of.

We will get our independence, I am so proud to be a small part of a movement that’s focus is resolutely on social justice and care. You have all reminded me constantly of the goodness within humanity, we are all the change we wanted to see, it’s happening! 🙂

Your posts are very much appreciated. In the face of all the nonsense from the MSM,not to mention the BBC, I look forward always to your analysis of the situation. After a fair bit of agonising, the Herald finally made it easy for me to cancel my subscription. In discussion with my old journalist pal, we were wondering how long it would be before The National becomes the major Newsquest title. When you consider the overwhelming Print Media and BBC power pouring out constant vitriol on a daily basis against the very thought of self determination

At least in England the Labour party is questioned by the media, here in Scotland they never are, every word they utter is greeted with revered forelock tugging and sounds of (When will our saviours return) SNP bad

Scotland is doing to the Labour party what we did to the Tories when they betrayed us and Wings has played an enormous part in that effort by outing the corruption and lies used to deceive the electorate

The increase in readership confirms it and it’s well deserved
For services to Scotland Rev Stu will never be Knighted or Ennobled, in fact if they could they’d probably have him arrested, 30 years ago he might have vanished and ended up in a field somewhere after having shot himself in the head from 10 feet away ( Coz sometimes that can happen)

Wings, now has become a first read of the day for me and a massive amount of others
How cool is that to overtake a multi billion pound organisation like the BBC as the news folk consider more important and truthful

Now don’t get big headed Stu just get on with it, coz that’s what seems to work

” … The genie is out of the bottle and won’t be going back in at all.”

More like the sleeping Scottish Wildcat has awoken, yawned, stretched and unsheathed its claws. Now it is only a matter of time before the rending and tearing of flesh and revenge for the enforced oppression.

“Nemo me impune lacessit”, This was the Latin motto of the Royal Stuarts. It has since been adopted by the Order of the Thistle as their motto. Also by three Scottish regiments of the British Army. The motto is also on the Royal coat of arms of the Kingdom of Scotland and again as a part of the version of the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom used in Scotland.

In English it translates as, “No one cuts, (attacks), me with impunity”. In Lallans Scots it owersets as, “Wha daur meddle wi me”. I have it on good authority that the Gaelic owersettin is, “Gaelic Cha togar m’ fhearg gun dìoladh”, (but I’ll just have to take my Gaelic speaking friend’s word for that).

Moidart…I was sorely tempted to come over to Glasgow today and meet some of you but I’m toiling a wee bit mentally.

I could go into it more, but here is not the place, except to say we’ve lived an extraordinarily stressful life since 2009, over and above the physical and emotional stresses looking after Joff brings. I feel close to beat more and more often at times. I can’t explain it better than that.

Thank you so much for asking, it feels good that someone’s thinking of us.

Himself is fine, just a wee bit cough still. He is going into residential respite next week from Monday to Friday so a good wee break for me away from caring.

    Next Saturday he turns 21.
A milestone we never expected in those very early days.
I’m going to take the time to do a blogpost about him during the week, he’s such an extraordinary wee cratur and deserves his tale to be told.

Going by the numbers of what seems to be a regular shift pattern of, (probably Brigade 77 commenters), we just may be on the Establishment’s RADAR system. The troll numbers did seem to suddenly increase and maintain at least a watching brief.

I’d be interested to see the breakdown by geography,of new recruits.

After all there’s no point just talking to ourselves.

Well, swings and roundabouts, innit? Some people read both at home and at work, and are therefore registered as two when they’re only one. So I just assume that it all roughly balances out, in the absence of any way of knowing for sure.

I learned about Wings Over Scotland and Wee Ginger Dug from a caller on BBC Scotland Call Kaye programme who had suggested anyone interested in finding quality information about the Referendum should check them out! This was just before the Glasgow Subway advert debacle. I took this callers advice there and then and have never missed a post since!

I work in various Scottish locations as a contractor and am still surprised by the number of people I meet who have not ..yet…heard of Wings! I spread the word as much as I can. I would love to have a small “business card” version of the Aye Right leaflet to distribute to people because I think we can encourage many more people to Wings..WGD..Bateman and The National!

I would also happily contribute to a crowd founder for billboards advertising Wings! There is still all to play for and Wings is the key catalyst to educate and inform our fellow Scots in continuing to build the momentum for Independence! Stu you are a real star ..the right person in the right place at the right time… Cometh the hour…Cometh the man……and Wingers thank you all for so many inspiring, informative, entertaining and unmissable debates. Doffs cap and curtsies!

    Hi Hector.

In Glasgow today (BBC Demo and the impromptu Wings get-together afterwards in The Clutha), I had to depend on my pad of stickies for sharing web site addresses and email addresses.

It would be WONDERFUL to be able to carry a pile of Wings business cards around, for jotting down those things on the ‘b’ side – and passing on the Wings url on the ‘a’ side.

So, Rev Stu, how about making WOS business cards available, in bundles of 100?
