They just can’t stop

Posted on July 03, 2014 by

Louise Morton is the Vice Chair of Moray Labour Party. She’s already familiar to some of our more veteran and alert readers for laughing when Yes activists were intimidated out of campaigning at a local fair with threats of violence.

Less than two days after Labour’s hapless candidate for the Westminster seat of Angus resigned for likening some children at a peaceful protest to the Hitler Youth, Ms Morton – whose son Sean is the party’s 2015 candidate for the Moray seat – thought it’d be a wizard jape to tweet this:

lm

It’s like a disease, readers. They can’t keep a lid on their hatred to save their lives.

See, when people call the Tories fascists, it’s because they keep armed bodyguards around their persons, invest heavily in war profiteering, cover up conspiracies and hush up unsavory files, prosecute and brutalise protesters, they enact fascist-leaning legislation and bills like the conscription act and gagging bill, and otherwise infringe on people’s personal rights and liberties.

When people call Yes fascists, it’s because they don’t know what a fascist is apart from it’s a bad word.

Anyone know any good psychologists who could explain the behaviour of Scottish Labour? I’d genuinely like to understand what on earth is going on and why there seems to be a culture within that organisation that permits, perhaps encourages, such language against a large segment of the Scottish population.

It smacks of institutionalised behaviour of some sort, and social media is just the mechanism by which their rotten core is being revealed.

After the insults hurled at our children and the repercussions from that, I am genuinely gobsmacked at the social media communications that have emanated from those close to the Labour hierarchy over the past 24 hours – Professor Stephenson in particular and what that revealed of her character – but this latest one is just idiotic. Why are they behaving in such a childish and arrogant way?

I’m actually very saddened by all of this.
What on earth has happened to Scotland?

I used to think that the only dark side in Scottish society was the poisonous stuff that went on around the Orange Order and the associated thinking that went with it.
    How wrong was I!

There is, without a shadow of a doubt, a perspective that has developed within the Labour Party that has allowed, or pushed members to view the world in a very narrow way.
    It is heart breakingly sad.

I’m a person who views community in a very positive way. I yearn for people to pull together, regardless of there different political views.
Goodness knows, but we all have to share the same country regardless of the result on 18th September.

    I’m not a Fascist.

I’m a left of centre thinking person. I regard myself as a progressive thinker. I’m not the most articulate of contributors, I take the piss out of Labour, Lib Dems, Tories; a little satire does no one any harm, but the language coming from the No camp is just unbelievable.

Has their world become so dark that they cannot view those who disagree with them in no other way than to compare them to Fascists and Nazis?

The Labour party is often criticised for pulling to the Right, but that isn’t the whole story. It appears to have completely lost it’s way. It’s not a political party any more. It has become something else. Something that I don’t recognise anymore.

You know, as a Scot, I would accept a No vote if it cleansed Scottish society of this appalling thinking on display from Louise Morton.

I’d like to say to Louise that the only difference from my thinking and that of the Great Labour characters of the past, such as Keir Hardy, Aneurin Bevan and the like is that I don’t put my cross against Labour, but I’m still true to their ideals.

Can that be said of you Louise, who likens me, a socialist thinker and compassionate voter with a Fascist?

A Yes vote threatens their sense of self as they identify, weather openly or not or by being self aware of it or not as British first and a Yes to them destroys that, thereby destroying a part of their personal identity. The strong language is a product of that feeling, again weather recognised or not.

Isn’t it highly ironic that almost every insult hurled at the SNP and the Yes side is a projection of their own behaviour?

Fascist, in the modern parlance – oppressive, intolerant, genocidal, dictatorial, racist, agressive.

    Who fit’s that bill?

SNP, a party who want more democracy, self determination, a written constitution, religious and racial equality, an education and health system based on need not means, a sovereign wealth fund to protect pensions for the vulnerable, an end to WMDs and a raft of policy measures to eradicate grinding levels of poverty, early death, disease and drug and alcohol abuse.

    or…

Labour, a party who would rather Scotland had a government it didn’t vote for, with a make it up as you go along constitution set in another country, illegal wars in foreign lands, more nuclear weapons, nanny state security measures etc etc etc

I’d say it was a better description of the Labour Party with regard to Scotland.

O/T This is no longer funny. I’m sick of the No side closing down debate. I posted on the FT site that this article was lazy journalism and his assertion that:

“What polling that has been done on these non-voters turned referendum-voters suggests they are marginally more likely to be No voters than the average. Perhaps this is surprising: we may think that voters are being roused from their apathy by the promise of independence. But non-voters in Scotland are quite like non-voters anywhere else: poorer, less educated, and turned off by traditional politics. If they would have been swayed by the romantic appeal of nationalism it would have happened by now.”

Was completely wrong and that in fact the opposite was true and that this was simplty lazy journalism and he should go and check out the polls. There were only a dozen or so posts almost all Pro Yes. I think Handandshrimp also posted. Result? Now they have gone, all posts deleted and none now being accepted.

BBC News: Scotsman and business editor guilty of stalking
    3 July 2014 Last updated at 20:19

The business editor of The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday newspapers has been found guilty of stalking a female PR consultant. Terry Murden, 57, had previously been in a relationship with Nicki Sturzaker.

He had denied causing her fear and alarm by going to her flat uninvited, leaving unwanted gifts and notes, repeatedly sending emails, uttering threats, contacting her employers and writing about her.

    Blackmail claim

Murden had denied that on various occasions between June 27 and October 4, 2013, he engaged in a course of conduct which caused Ms Sturzaker, who was employed by the PR firm the Big Partnership, fear and alarm.

Between July and October 2013 Ms Sturzaker said she received 15 emails from Murden and contacted the police.

She also told the court that a week after she left the Big Partnership, Murden had published two articles in one week about her departure which she thought was an abuse of his position as business editor.

“He had cost me my job” she said. “I felt humiliated. I changed my mobile number. I wanted to get as far away from him as possible”. Despite this, she said, emails and gifts continued to be sent.

If you don’t know who Terry is, here’s one of his articles.

    Amazing.

This Labour vitriol is a symptom of their panic at being faced with a case they know they cannot overcome through debate. Their instinctive recourse appears to be to cry ‘fascist’.

In a slightly O/T but related theme, Ive just read extracts of David Cameron’s speech in Perth where he seems to outline his own new tactic for sidestepping the awkward logic problem of championing No over Yes: don’t think, FEEL.

Throughout the speech he exhibits some quite breathtaking barefaced diversionary logic.

At first I wasn’t even sure it could be true he’d made the speech since his excuse for not debating Alex Salmond has always been that it’s not his place to get involved personally… except for little sneaky cross-border raids when the First Minister isn’t expecting it apparently.

I sometimes wish he’d grow a pair but of course he knows, just as we do, the real reason he can’t debate Salmond and that is evident in the ridiculous assertions he made in Perth. He can’t have the debate because whenever the two cases are made in a sober, rational way the sense of choosing Yes and the folly of opting for No become apparent.

In Perth Dave tried to accuse Alex of failing to answer questions on currency, EU membership and set-up costs of an independent Scotland. Apart from the fact that these questions have been answered but No just like to repeatedly claim they haven’t been answered because then it seems like they haven’t, this is particularly great because in many instances the precise reason the answers cannot be concrete is because Dave and the UK government won’t discuss them until after the vote.

So, obviously, there can be no definitive answer from anybody until the vote is done and the negotiations can commence. This tactic of demanding answers to questions that you yourself are preventing from being answered is truly great spin work from Dave.

The most concerning aspect of the whole thing though was the theme of the vote being painted as a “matter of the heart” for Dave and Ruth Davidson, who was there too apparently.

It wasn’t so long ago that the unionist side were using ‘patriot sentiment’ and ‘being lead by the heart’ as negative, derisory reasons why people would vote Yes. Only a fool who was in denial of the logical, sound socio-economic facts in the debate would resort to being swayed by heartfelt nationalist pride over reason, right?

Right. So it now makes perfect sense that, faced with a strong fact-based case for voting Yes that they know they cannot overcome with reason, they should now resort to stirring up their own brand of that same heartfelt nationalist sentiment they used to think so beneath them.

Now that it suits them, they have put the shoe on the other foot and are trying to kick Yes with it.

Dave evidently hopes that there are a large group of people who haven’t got around to actually looking at the facts and thinking about it for themselves yet that will be convinced to vote from their gut at his heartfelt rallying cry. It speaks volumes about the confidence he has in both his arguments and his chances of winning the vote that he is resorting to this rather than debating with Salmond.

I’m surprised he didn’t slap on a spot of blue wode before the speech really.

The other calculated effect of this tactic of course is to further entrench those of a No persuasion, encouraging them to be true to their heart at all costs and not be drawn into dangerous reason-based debates with those sneaky, cerebral emotionless Yessers.

…but like the dedicated cybernats we are, we will educate. Ed-u-cate!

And perhaps not as well-educated as they believe themselves to be, if not one of them can see the glaring dissonance and contradiction in what they say.

The Days of Empire are not done yet. Scotland – never admitted – was and is the last colony. Exploited and impoverised underclass, and where they store their Nuclear Weapons, industries run down (look at Germany for sustained heavy industry AND good working laws), belittled and presumed ill-educated, and our culture and tradition still belittled or dismissed, and our lands (will be) sold off, in a revisitation as certain as the Highland Claarances and what precipated that.
Our worth – down to the establishment’s disproved dismissal of us as subsidy junkies – lies in the golden eggs we lay: oil and the Scottish Component of Crown Estates.
The juxtaposition of our land with theirs the sole reason this reality – of last colony – is obscured and blurred into a lie of partnership.

He must, though, not only disassociate himself from his own mother but must condemn her for her error. Failure to do so is the only other option and that is a tacit agreement with her claims.

Extrapolate that to the Labour Party leaders for it also applies to them and again also to Better Together. They must now either condemn, agree or attempt to ignore and the two latter option signify their agreement with the slur.

Indeed he didn’t choose his mother but the cold hard fact
is that his mother is a Moray Labour Party Official in the Constituency Association that is responsible for selecting the candidate for that constituency. She is it seems the Louise Morton, who is Women’s Officer of the Moray Labour Party.

Which is the point I am making. The person making the offending remarks is an official of Moray Labour Party. As such the candidate must either disassociate himself from that person or he makes tacit agreement with that person and thus with those who selected him as candidate.

The fact that the offending person is his mother is only an added problem for him. Note that the whole constituency Association must also state they disassociate themselves or be guilty also. As must the Labour Party and Better Together. If they do not then they, be default, agree with it.

The BBC interviewer actually tried her best but was up against a barrage of nonsense. Mr Donald was presented as being from the organisation ‘workingforscotland.org’, which is a website which appears to consist of a single blank page.

He is, or was, boss of a marketing company and was a founder of Business Better Together, speaking on their behalf at several events.

As a result it has a universal health care system that is the envy of the region, American health tourists flock there to use their first class facilities. It is also one of the greenest and most environmentally friendly countries in the world, it is on course to become the very first carbon neutral nation within 10 years. As a result of its pro-environment ethos all recreational hunting is banned.

This will happen after another spurious YouGov poll comes out suggesting that YES vote has slipped dramatically.

Now the thing is, I wonder how it will be received in the mind of the public. Things are not the way they were in the 1970s and the internet has opened a new door to information and content that are beyond the control of the establishment (The main reason they want to effectively close it down)

Importantly too, unlike Northern Ireland for example, there is no history of violence in the Scottish independence movement that could be plausibly used by black flag operators. Any shocking incident will stick out like a sore thumb.

It has got to the stage instead that there could even be a *genuine* incident that ends up being popularly identified as secret service activity…

Their best bet is in smearing the character of major figures in the independence movement. However if they had anything on Alex Salmond, for example, I would have thought they’d have played it years ago.

The other area where we have to be vigilant is postal voting…

However, I agree that we should be very vigilant. We have eyes and ears in many places these days, we can keep them honest or at least very, very careful.

The repetition alone puts you off; obscure statistics, constantly quoting eastern European countries with little or no relationship to Scotland; nil evidence to back up wild claims and accusations; his attempts to smear the first person who wonders if he is sane, all up up to a man on the edge of a nervous breakdown.

He has compulsions he can’t control.

Don’t forget, he began his tirades pretending to be a woman supporting independence.

He took the line, autonomy was a good thing if only the SNP were not offering Scotland the opportunity – the usual unionist troll tactic to attract and repel.

If you manage to read one of his 1,000 words-plus posts in its entirety you come to the conclusion this is a man who has no politics and even less reason.

Expect to be kicked out of a YouGov political poll then as people like you can’t possibly exist in sufficient numbers to show up on such a sample.

YouGov seem to operate on the principle that people can’t change without changing their voting recall. Your Labour membership and voting patterns must be misremembered. So you must in fact be an SNP voter and they downgrade Yes supporting SNP voters.

The weightings just don’t work properly for the referendum. If you add in that newly registered but not young voters will not have a voting recall so will be ignored. If they even have an internet connection in the first place of course. How you contact people for polling is becoming really fraught in terms of capturing a representative cross section of society. Many don’t have a fixed phone line for eg. The online panels are largely self selecting people interested in politics.

That YouGov’s panel includes too many English born people in Scotland (50% too many) is an example of that.

And here we go again. Another day another brain numbing BBC Propaganda assault upon the Scottish nation and myself.

I awake each morning to my bedside Radio Alarm tuned to BBC Radio Scotland. I was jolted into still groggy consciousness this morning by the voice of some, obviously under educated, English public school accented, supercilious numptie. The supercilious numptie was, as usual, talking absolute, complete and utter balderdash as is the wont of such poorly educated nitwits.

So let’s examine the sheer idiocy of this person’s basic use of their own claimed native language. They claimed, and I paraphrase, it was inconceivable that if Scotland became independent, “THE BRITISH NAVY”, would ever again place orders for, “BRITISH SHIPS”, in Scotland.

This numptie cannot even properly differentiate between the fairly easily defined terms, “Britain”, “Country”, “Kingdom” and, “United”. Would it be too much to expect these English public school numpties would at least attempt to speak to we English speaking Scots in standard English?

Britain is a group of islands that contains several distinct countries. Britain is not a country.

A Kingdom is the realm of a royal personage – King, Queen, Prince or Princess.

The United Kingdom is a bipartite royal realm formed by an Act of Union and it contains only four of the British countries.

Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Queen’s Soldiers are the troops of the Monarchy and not the property of Her Majesty’s Government at Westminster.

There are no such things as ”The” British Navy or ”The” British Armed Forces or even ”The”, British Government.

My English friends have no way of changing their political institutions, we have simply by putting an x on a box.

People in Scotland need to make up there mind if they are happy to give there Vote to an Institution that is still covering up an historic paedophile ring within its walls.
