A stranger inside
Below is a clip from last night’s Reporting Scotland. It features regular election loser Christine Jardine, an ex-BBC journalist who the Lib Dems have tried unsuccessfully for years to crowbar into Parliamentary seats all over Scotland (like Aberdeenshire East in 2016, Gordon in 2015, the European Parliament in 2014, Aberdeen Donside in 2013 and Inverness and Nairn in 2011).
She’s currently contesting Edinburgh West, which the party has some credible hopes of winning, having held the seat for almost 20 years prior to 2015. And it seems that her former employer has decided to try to give her a helping hand.
And, y’know, they’re really not allowed to do that.
There are strict rules covering airtime being given to candidates during elections, and one of the key ones is that candidates mustn’t be allowed to discuss their own seat uncontested. They can talk about general national issues, but they can’t discuss their local seat without other candidates present, as Christine Jardine is not only permitted but expressly invited to do by presenter Laura McIver in the footage above.
Ofcom makes that abundantly and repeatedly clear:

They just do what they want. That’s pretty clear.
Rules are for us (and strictly enforced), not for them.
They’ll tell you SNP will be on tonight, SLabour on tomorrow night etc. BBC spin faster and better than a Zanussi.
Whats the official complaint process? Outrageous.
But the state broadcaster’s own complaints procedure will find there has been no transgression.

Ah but we only knew there would be other candidates when nominations closed at 1600 hours today so last night was fine.
Desperately trying to catch up here, but for this and the last thread would/could anyone tweet Joanna Cherry about these awful lies and ‘misspeaks’? Or is QT recorded? It’s just that I’ve seen nothing on Joanna’s twitter – I’m not on it.
We must DO something about this.
There is no longer any pretence of impartiality from the BBC any longer, nor does there appear to be any intention of anyone to take them to task for the obvious transgressions.
As for journalism in general, the future seems less than bright..

Inverness College UHI will no longer offer the Higher class from 2017/18.
I remember voting Liberal in 1997 in Edinburgh West to oust Lord James Douglas Hamilton only to watch him retreat on every election promise within Four Months I doubt they will have changed their spots so to speak ?
The state broadcaster is increasingly happy to abandon even the pretence of impartiality.
No real surprise when the state knows damn fine their case in 2014 was aided immensely by the state broadcaster and I suspect fully backs the continued (and expanded) manipulation of the population by it.
I will henceforth only refer to the BBC as the state broadcaster with the full and certain belief that the implications of that title fit the BBC with absolute perfection. They are a mouthpiece of the state. They espouse the state ideological stance. They run distraction programming.
I swear, if I had a way to do it I would take every single television broadcast network down for a month and let the people get used to finding their information and entertainment by other means, because the state broadcaster is all about keeping you entertained and totally ignorant while telling you they’re keeping you informed.
Oh Jeez!
That shark has been jumped so many times in the past fortnight.
The question is, where does it stop?
BBC Scotland just can’t help themselves, can they? Their political agenda is obvious to all but the blind. It’s time for their masters in London to conclude that they are an irretrievable embarrassment and close the whole sorry branch office down.

That doesn’t matter. In this particular context they have to be on at the same time.
However it could be argued that the introduction “Christine, you are standing in Edinburgh West. Why is that such a target seat for the LibDems?” does show that the BBC knew of her interest.
But even if it doesn’t fall foul of 6.8, 6.9 or 6.10 it does fail 6.11 as the election was called on May 3rd

The bbc’s promotion of british nationalism will continue to increase. It is now obvious that the bbc is a compliant arm of Westminster. Don’t pay the bbc tax.

Edinburgh West have enough of the LibDems. They are throwing money at this campaign to elect Jardine even before their MSP Cole-Hamilton has dealt with his “alleged” breaches of expenditure rules. The are bussing in students from around the UK to campaign for them. You could run a good campaign on their pizza bill alone.The irony is they ,the students,are probably doing this to make up for the fees the Libdems cost them!
I still cannot get out of my head that Jo Swinson claimed for cosmetics and was found out. during the expenses scandal . She never apologised,the arrogant bissom.

The BBC don’t give a stuff and will never act on a complaint because they are not held accountable by any government body,they might as be called the Westminster Broadcasting Corporation. I’ll say it again. the only way to scare them is a massive demo at PQ 50000+ but that statement is for some reason generally greeted with apathy. So the BBC will continue unchallenged with their anti independence/pro Unionist agenda and will become ever more bolder in the coming months and years as there is no one to stop them.
Serious question: can we crowdfund legal action against them? Meddling in elections is a matter of state, not a generic complaint that the BBC can handle in-house. I think they must be vulnerable on all elements of their royal charter, as they are misselling their product to the general public.
But I’m a statistician, not a lawyer, so what do I know?
And my anti-BBC website is half way to completion! Been reading up on the organisation’s history and origins and waiting for my DVD burner to arrive so I can start recording Reporting Scotland and then collate stats on it for crunching through R and SAS on my weekends. Gonna try running some semantic analysis of their text, and get statistics comparing the results over a longterm period…
In all this fuss about a bit of responsible journalism some people are forgetting the vital role that Auntie Beeb plays in making sure everyone knows who they should be voting for. It is essential in a properly functioning democracy that everyone knows who is the right candidate to vote for. Imagine the chaos that would ensue if ill-informed voters put their crosses in the wrong boxes on polling day.
As a public service broadcaster the BBC has a duty to perform. You didn’t think it might be in the interests of the people who pay for it did you? Perhaps you are thinking of pipers.(?)

This broadcast segment unambiguously falls within the gamut of a “constituency discussion”, of that there can be no doubt, thereby triggering Ofcom’s guidance note 1.37. It was not accidental either, Jardine’s contribution was invited.
However, I thought that PC‘s point is correct, since guidance note 1.40 is full of weasel wording, and notes 1.49 and 1.50 seem to allow this kind of thing if other candidates are invited and decline to take part, or it is made clear from the outset that the segment is one of a series and the list of candidates is given in each.
I didn’t (yet) see the RepScot programme concerned, so did they fail to meet these requirements?
Or is cheating possible because no opposing candidates have been selected yet? If so, that would seem to be a very dubious loophole to exploit. All too typical for the FibDems, of course, but you would think the BBC would be =cough= more circumspect. These are matters with which they must be extremely familiar.
Considering the amount of blind eyes turned involving Savile , Hall , Harris etc at the corporation political bias from the BBC is pretty small fry

Complain to who?
The BBC/ an electoral body/ the police. It doesn’t matter which route you go the complaint will be dismissed after months of review…if it ever gets that far.
The unionists no longer care about any investigations because they have full control. You can break the law on election spending. They can lie regarding claims on false memos. They can trod all over electoral rules.
This is only the latest example….now turn on the BBC and embrace “the truth” as Jackle or Sally bring you a tale of another SNPbad story.

What there isn’t is a way to stop them BEFORE Scottish independence.
It may be that the BBC have rationalised this as being OK because the nominations for candidates had not yet closed so they might argue that she is not yet a candidate until the lists are officially announced.
I know, I know. Thin gruel but bet if you write to them to complain that will be a close approximation of their answer.

BBC National 6 TV news also claimed that in Scotland that since abolition of student tuition fees the numbers of well off pupils going to Uni had increased whereas the opposite is true.
Leeds-based company Imactivate, found that the chances of pupils from Scotland’s more deprived areas going to university have more than doubled in the past 10 years.
He concludes that “current criticism of [Scotland’s] higher education system is unfounded”.
‘Scotland, for example, has the smallest number of children living in poverty among the constituent nations of the UK, the lowest prevalence of low pay and far more young people from deprived areas going on to higher education.’
The above quote is taken from the UK Government’s ‘State of the Nation: Social Mobility and Child Poverty’. published in December 2015 and chaired by Labour MP Alan Milburn.
When Labour left office after 8 years just over 2 in 10 students from the most deprived areas of Scotland obtained at least one higher or equivalent. Last year, the figure was almost 4 in 10.
Of course the BBC statement went unchallenged and no comment was asked from the SNP in the middle of an election campaign.
Watch out for this at 10 pm this evening.
Don’t waste time complaining to the BBC. Don’t pay their “licence fee”. Actions speak louder than words.

First rule of OFCOM is that the BBC must get first crack at putting you off first. I really should have guessed that.
This is exactly why I have been unable to watch the BBC for more than 3 years. Totally untrustworthy.
I doubt I will ever watch their apology for journalism again. They behave as if the SNP have usurped their birth right and go out of their way to try and win it back with scant regard for professionalism and impartiality.

Why? the CPS is for the Kingdom of England only.
In Scotland it is the Procurators Fiscal who decides upon whether a crime has been committed under Scottish law and anyway, you have to report the crime to Police Scotland first they investigate and report to the Procurators Fiscal.
I’d have watched that with no clue it was in breach of Ofcom rules.
Jardine also fought one of the nastiest campaigns ever seen in Scottish politics, last time. Salmond refused to shake her hand on the podium, when they announced the result. And no bloody wonder.

I wasn’t being entirely serious. They would no more close down BBC Scotland than they would close down BBC Norwich. The point I was trying to make was that for propaganda to be effective it has to be credible, and the output of Pacific Quay is anything but credible. When even Scots Tories and Lib Dems volunteer to me in conversation the opinion that BBC Scotland is risibly biased against Scottish independence and the SNP, I conclude that their propaganda isn’t credible. That should be of concern to their masters in London.
Surely the EU or UN have a duty to intervene when an Ethnic minority* is subject to hostile propaganda which denigrates and demonises them through lies and misinformation via it’s own Governments State Broadcaster??
*5 odd Million Scots vs 60 odd Million rUK, (I know this is simplifying the numbers).

In the past I tended to think of the Liberals as the “nice party”. Subsequent revelations about Freud, Smith and others raises questions regarding that but the sheer nastiness of their recent campaigning is every bit as unpleasant as UKIP.

Feels like it, Pacific Quay fully aware of the YES/NO breakdown and the don’t knows ofcourse. They seem able to weight the SNP monstering directly at the swing voters, its like watching a sledge hammer hitting a grape to us but if you’re not that clued up…

Had a wee search and came across this on the Council of Europe Site. I knew I had read it somewhere while looking for something else but had thought it was an EU thing. The point is it says, “anyone”, can complain to them and it says nothing of doing it via their own government or the EU.
If an individual can ask for their help half of a country/kingdom stands a great chance of getting their attention.
Court of Human Rights:-
It says any person. What if we petitioned the Court of human rights about not just the BBC but the whole Treaty of Union and the way that Westminster is now running the United Kingdom as the de facto Parliament of England and even cabinet ministers claiming that, “The Treaty of Union extinguished the Kingdom of Scotland and renamed the Kingdom of England as the United Kingdom.”
Not to mention that by the use of EVEL they enforce that in the House of Commons that is supposed to be the United Kingdom Parliament.

OFCOM have been the organisation responsible for ensuring that the BBC abides by its charter since April this year. They ought to be enforcing their own rules. So a complaint to OFCOM would be in order.

There’s little point in starting with the BBC during the purdah period of an election campaign. This isn’t the first time the BBC have covered an election. They know the rules.

The problem with the ECHR approach is that you need to ‘exhaust all local remedies’ which includes pursuit through the domestic courts system.
And the UK has the highest court costs in Europe by miles, not just designed to line the pockets of the legal profession but mainly to deprive the ‘little people’ the non elite, of justice.
So whereas Governments have been successfully prosecuted through the ECHR elsewhere in Europe for not ensuring plurality and lack of bias in their state broadcasters, the UK/BBC have been able to operate with impugnity.
A couple of instances of UK national newspapers being pursued through the ECHR have occurred but those pursuits were by some very rich individuals.
There was a half-hearted attempt to allow media to fall under the special environmental rules as per the Aarhus Agreement, which caps court expenses at an even lower than normal European level, but that foundered, sadly.

Where I used to see the BBC in the same light as Goebels propaganda broadcasts, I now see parallels with the inflammatory stuff from the broadcast media in Rwanda in the 1990s whipping up hate against the Tutsis with their constant vilification of NS, SG, SNP and Indy Supporters as Vile Seps and in the same camp as Extremists etc.
Seriously sinister stuff when the PM can lie during a GE and it doesn’t get called out by the media.

I've been looking at the Council of Europe Court of Human rights on-line and there seems to be a lot of downloadable forms and PDF explanations. Strikes me this is a job for a crowd-funder to engage a real professional.

Even though this has been a long slog and feels never-ending, don’t give up guys. They ARE rattled – badly rattled. We have not gone away and the Genie still refuses to get back into the bottle. It has gone from frustration to now angry despair. They must curse the internet and social media. Half a century ago, the clamour for independence would have diminished in the face of Westminster refusal. Not anymore.
Now, they are using what tools are left at the bottom of their bag of dirty tactics and trick. Now it is just downright and out-and-out bare lies. God help them if that fails, because the last choice is just going for it and shutting down Holyrood …and if they did that, then they will have stirred the biggest hornets nest that even they might not be able to contain. The fury north of the border would be a sight to behold.
Makes you wonder at what point they just get sick of us and tell us to ‘piss off!’ I know one good writer on this site is hoping for that eventual scenario. With Brexit and English nationalism …who knows?

This is just hearsay and gossip, (I was rather annoyed that Patrick Harvie would stand in Glasgow North when I like having Patrick Grady as my MP & though I like to see the greens get their deposit back there is no way I would risk voting anything other than SNP for this unnecessary GE, so had made discrete inquiries), but it would seem patrick Harvie has chosen a safe seat to stand in so there is no risk to SNP. I believe the Greens are doing the noble thing and putting constitution before party, and appear to be getting a bad press for it. A stronger stance of declaring this & refusing to put up any candidates may have been more impressive, but I suspect they are compromising.

Scotland is a member of another Union of course and that is the Union with England which is 307 years old but Scotland remains a country with her distinct laws, religious freedom and education system. No one gave up their Scottish citizenship when joining a Union with England, no we became UK citizens as well as Scottish citizens.
Likewise when the UK joined the EU in 1975 we also became citizens of Europe, a status we have had now for more than 40 years. Like your wish for Ireland to enjoy the support of the rest of our European family. Will you agree the same for the people of Scotland who voted 62% to Remain in the EU?
What I am pleading for Mr Weber is that Scotland as a nation is not left out in these negotiations, we too are citizens of the EU and the majority wish to remain citizens. Without the support of the EU that future looks bleak if we are dragged out against our will.

I signed it long ago but I knew when I did that I was wasting my time. The point of the European Court of Human Rights is it has teeth and lots of them.
They don’t just recommend or ask for compliance. There is much evidence, (of course you won’t hear about it), that this was the main cause of UK devolution and the pressure the COE applied.
Thing is that now Westminster has botched the job and used devolution to split the only two member kingdoms up as four unequal countries with Westminster the de facto parliament of England claiming the Treaty of Union extinguished the Kingdom of Scotland and made the Kingdom of England the United Kingdom there is much evidence, including EVAL, to prove Scottish Human rights have been ignored by Westminster.
There are several things I know about that the UK is signed up to that are against that sort of thing :-
The Geneva Convention, The United Nations, The European Union and the Council of Europe. Which all, BTW: also have rules about State Broadcasting of propaganda.

I had the Kilmun Hotel on the Holy Loch when all the mussel beds died. The departed Holy Loch US base commander had a letter printed in the local paper when a plan was announced to clean the loch insisting that the bottom of the loch should be left undisturbed. There was (is?) eight time the national incidence of a specific leukaemia in the area.
There were definitely one or two, or more, plants in that QT audience. One guy had a personal dig at Joanna Cherry that sounded just a wee bit too rehearsed. The two Tory/right-wingers came across as creepy and obnoxious, but then that’s par for the course.
The best bit was when a guy in the audience asked how come the Tories/WM can always find money to bail out the banks or start a war or fund WMD, but still impose austerity on the poor?
Haymen made a strong point about the LE results being a great result considering the SNPs time in power. It was interesting watching Cherry’s reactions to some of the things being said. I bet she reads Wings sometimes.
Re Question Time.
David Hayman was undoubtedly the absolute star of the show, from our point of view. Joanna Cherry, when she was allowed to speak without interruption, was also magnificent.
The Edinburgh audience, in general, were good. They booed the Tory and cheered the scrapping of Trident.

@ meg merrilees – Lord Hall said a few months ago, when talking about the new charter and broadcasting, that the BBC would soon require users of the website to register.
I’m not going to do that so probably that means no iplayer radio in future.
I did not allow the browser to give them my location either.
On the OFCOM form I ticked the box to stop them sending my name and address to the BBC.
They can easily look up location of users. It’s not my job to do their job for them. If they ever provide a decent service I might be more cooperative.

I missed the start of QT as my wee pal’s wife was watching something else but from what I saw both Joann & David did Scotland proud.
BTW – we don’t get DAB radio in my area either and there are no plans to extend the network. The BBC is hopeless at providing a service, which is why I haven’t paid the licence fee for decades.

Yet another as expected star turn from Joanna Cherry ably supported by an excellent David Hayman.
Wallace was well and truly walloped and it was great to hear the audience laughing and jeering when he came out with a selection of the old unionist chestnuts.
Merryn wotsername seems to be a permanent fixture on the panel anytime QT comes from Scotland and all she did was come out with the same cr-p as she does every time she is on.
Emily Thornberry illustrated perfectly the fact that Scottish Labour is firmly under the control of London.
Yet again we got the old nonsense about how the constitutional question is divisive and splitting up families and friends. Of course, it’s not as if the age old division between left and right has never existed and is divisive – but that’s different – it isn’t caused by SNPBad.

If successfully argued not, then money due back to the customer from the service provider. Award may only be small portion of total fee but then multiply by number of short-changed service users. One million in Scotland?

Just this week I tuned in to BBC Radio Scotland, it was the ‘culture’ programme, there were two ‘experts’, both English.
The main reviews were a play (Whatever Happened to Virginia Wolf’ and a new music album by Blondie.
The English male reviewer was honest enough to admit on the first that he rarely went to the theatre, and on the second, that his music interest was Swedish Metal Rock. WTF??
It’s been going on for years now.
I remember years ago, an English ‘expert’ on birds was on, the issue, Islanders dismayed that regulations prevented them scaring off geese. When told by an Islander that the geese were eating a lot of the grass on the Machair, on which their animal husbandry depended, stated that ‘Geese don’t eat grass’. Yes they do, their bills actually have teeth for that purpose.
On another occasion there was an English ‘expert’ on pipe music who was actually so subtely taken the piss out of by the other contributors that he didn’t even realise it was happening.
On another phone in an English woman when asked about the current topic said, and I paraphrase from memory, ‘Oh, that isn’t the topic your researchers phoned me about and asked me to come on for but I will give my opinion if you like.’ Giving the lie to the supposed random caller-in nature of the programme.
I worked with an English guy who was interviewd on re-inactment, model airplane flying and photography. Even he was embarrassed at the photography club interview because he had only been in that club for a week and the long serving club secretary of the club was upset that he didn’t get interviewed,
Same on TV. Whether it is ‘countryside programmes’ (which seem to be about the only thing made these days in Scotland) or ‘expert opinion’ or even, allegedly random, vox pops on some issue or other the English accented contributors far exceed the approx 1 in 12 of the population that their population density would suggest.
Any visitor listening to Radio Scotland or BBC Scotland TV would be left with the impression that there was a much higher percentage of English in Scotland than there actually is.
There can be no justification for this by examining the the UK wide media output available to Scots and which makes up the majority of media input they receive. That too is unrelentingly English view oriented.
Why should Scots have far less chance of their opinion being aired in the Scottish media than that of English people living here?
Ironically, I have heard more Scottish ‘expert’ opinion and Scottish creative output (plays etc.) and Scottish scientific advances on Radio 4.
All in all the Edinburgh audience, in spite of the obvious Tory plants, did Scotland well tonight on QT.
Will be interesting what will happen in Belfast in 2 weeks time.

You are right of course in that the media favours others say rather than Scots when it comes to these types of programmes.
Only the voters can change that when it comes to the second Referendum. I believe we will then have that power to destroy the impartiality we witness daily.

The Union costs Scotland £20Billion a year which could be saved or better spent. Scotland has to balance it’s budget. Westminster borrows and spends what it likes and gives Scotland the bill. Scotland has to make loan repayments on what Westminster borrows and spends in the rest of the UK. The Oil revenues offshore and secretly and illegally taken by Thatcher. £500Billion borrowed and spent on Hinkley by the sea, HS2, Heathrow and Trident. All a total waste of money. With more credible alternatives.
If the National does not get it’s website under control. It will go the same way as the Scotsman and Herald. Irrelevant. Unionist trolls. They have ruined every other website. People just get fed up with it. The reason Wings is so successful. Unionist trolls are kept in moderation.
I received an email survey from my SNP Consituency Organiser asking about the council elections. When asked “what could we have done better” nationally, my reply was “Been more assertive with the media, particularly the BBC. Encouraged “vote till you boak” I.e. @ Nana – I had to switch browsers from Chrome to Firefox. Chrome was playing havoc with the PC, opening about 20 instances in the background and causing kernel panics, freezing up with 100% disc usage.
Much calmer now on Firefox.

How would you feel if somebody told you a load of folk from another country were moving in to your country to tell you what you can and can’t do with your own country because they’ve bought a house in it
They’ll find a newt or a bird they say is endangered so you can’t develop the area, or they’ll take over your local council to stop building consents, you’ll turn up at your local bowling club and there’s been new rules passed you didn’t know about or approve of
Everywhere you turn they’re there complaining about stuff that never bothered anyone before, every radio and TV program seems filled with these folk speaking on behalf of some community or other
Then the ultimate irony they vote against the wishes of the very country they came to for what they say was a better life but accept all the benefits your country offers better than the one that they left
We’re not supposed to name these folk because we’re told if we do we’re anti or racist or some other word invented to replace the words concerned or annoyed
Scotland has had folk from India, China, and many other countries move in and bring us loads of benefits like new and exotic lovely food just to mention one
But what the folk from those countries never did is take over or attempt to order us around and reshape our country to suit them, in other words pretty good citizens by and large and an asset to our country and we mostly all say yes they’ve been good for us all with nurses, doctors, open all hours takeaways and corner shops and they work hard and get on with their own lives
This other lot who we’re not allowed to name for fear of being called names which most of the previous folk mentioned seldom accuse us of seem a sensitive lot when it comes to us not liking the way they behave and they shout and stamp their feet and tell us it’s their country too so shut up and do as you’re told
Well no Pakistani man or Chinese man has ever said things like that to me yet they’re entitled to be here just as much as the shouty folk,
One last observation might be that the shouty folk also now want to get rid of the folk who don’t cause Scotland any bother and replace them with more of themselves
So my conclusion is we shouldn’t be letting the shouty bossy folk do that

On a Saturday night my local Indian or Chinese restaurant tends to my dietary requirements and if I need a taxi home somebody else from another overseas country is liable to turn up to ferry me home
All in all I like having these people in my country so much so I feel they’re a part of the fabric of it
So who the hell do these shouty folk think they are, and they’re pissing me off now just as they do the people in every other country they decide they want to own

That is disgusting. What better proof could you provide? How can we have any faith in justice when video evidence is inadmissible because it’s video evidence? While elsewhere in Scotland’s “Honourable” legal system Andy Wightman faces prosecution for defamation after speaking out about wildlife protection issues. Just shows you where the Law in Scotland holds its allegiance doesn’t it? It certainly knows what is sees down its gun sight.
And all because, the Toffs want free reign to blast pheasants they don’t eat out of the sky just for fun, and yet object to natural predators having the audacity to try getting a meal from the process.
Roll on Independence. Let’s leave England to torture its foxes, raptors and “game” birds, and make Scotland a haven for the flora and fauna abused and persecuted to near extinction or actual extinction. Let us teach our children what it feels like to respect creatures which belong here, from insects to whales and everything in between.
It high time Scotland’s rich environment was a reference to its richness of diversity and balanced ecosystem, not the obscene proliferation of spoilt brat Toffs killing things just for giggles and “noble” tradition, and their equally blood thirsty keepers and lackeys who rank no higher in my eyes.

meg merrilees re BBC iplayer, they will be asked for location data in order to build up a profile of listeners, some interesting stuff going on in the background such as with apps that play a tone unaudible to humans that the onboard microphone picks up and reports back to the app creator that you are using the app.
So for the BBC for example, they could compare location data against their licence database and see if you are being a bad girl accessing their services without a licence.

NEWS: There is a report in today’s Herald that the husband of LibDem Edin West candidate Christine Jardine has died aged only 55. He, Calum Macdonald, worked at Herald for 25 yrs, up to 2015.
55 is helluva young for anyone to die. No cause of death was given in the report. 20-year old daughter now fatherless. 🙁

I don’t know if this will affect Jardine’s candidacy, perhaps cause her to step aside. If so there would be no way to select a new LibDem candidate since the registration period has closed.
The paper does not say if Mr Macdonald passed away suddenly, or if he had been unwell for a long time.

@ Breeks 9.43 – it infuriates me that our natural heritage can be destroyed for the profit of a few. Even the statutory bodies responsible for protection can do nothing. The laws we enacted for protection are broken with impunity.
As you point out, people who actively investigate these issues, such as Andy Wightman, are threatened with bankruptcy and loss of law making power.
It makes a complete mockery of democracy. We obviously don’t live in a democracy and this coming election is focusing on that tragic fact.
