I thought it all went splendidly too – but not for Boris Johnston. He possibly doesn’t care.
After watching episode 1 of My5’s Michael Portillo delve into The Trouble With the Tories, you have to register but it’s worth it for this, it looks like there won’t be a Tory Party for much longer.

well ! the first week did not live up to his dreams. Boris may want a GE to get him out of the mess he is now in, but who would win a GE probably The Brexit party, and this would certainly finish the UK.
Isn’t England in a mess? It is very rapidly becoming a failed state. We will all pay dearly for this money that he is squandering.
I mean seriously, whether you are pro indy or right wing or left wing, the reality is quite sad, in a way. All through Government in Westminster, we have truly incompetent or criminally irresponsible people running the country. They cannot fund help for schools, hospitals, disabled or terminally ill folk, their is, as they say, ‘no magic money tree’, yet Suddenly they find three or four BILLION pounds at the drop of a hat, to prepare for the biggest act of state self harm and self-inflicted vandalism in history.
It is hard to believe what has happened down there. It really is. Much as I utterly despise Westminster and its over three hundred years of abuse of Scotland, their was a time when competent people ran things. Now, we have an egotistical, compulsive lying, pig-ignorant, self indulgent moron as prime minister. The man is an utter, utter fool.
He talks tough about leaving with ‘no deal, because as he keeps telling us, the EU always negotiates ‘right at the end’. It is a game of ‘see who blinks first’, at taxpayers expense. Literally p*ssing away taxpayers money. Yet, what he and his apparatchiks do not seem to grasp, is that EU officials watch his TV interviews, they watch the electoral results, they know the parliamentary arithmetic, and see the political analyses in the UK. They know what his infantile and frankly, amateurish ploy is. They are all seasoned politicians at the top of their game, involved in hard negotiations with the UK for the last three years and rightly view Mr.Johnson as a fool.
They will collectively wave ‘farewell, adieu, auf wiedersehen, goodbye’, as Johnson takes the UK over the precipice on 31st October.
I somehow get the impression, Nigel Farage is the cockroach of British Politics – on the day after Armageddon, up will pop Nigel from the BBC’s hidden bunker, to assure us, now we are out of the world, all will be well.
Unless the Tories and their spooks in the security service can either: a). buy him off, Ambassador to Washington, followed by a sinecure in the House of Lords, for instance; or b). get enough really sticking mud to finish him off, he and his mad Brexit Party colleagues could scupper a Tory GE win.
If he can sort-out Farage, the Buffoon will carry England; then he can set about the Jocks, Paddies and Taffs; otherwise, chaos.

I think most Scots would now accept a hard border, no more Boris Johnson colonial tours, what’s not to like? And just think of all the jobs that can be created opening our ports for direct trade with the EU. I suspect independence would see a massive boost to Scotland’s economy, so much infrastructure needed to become the country we should be.

Johnson is a very carefully constructed stand-up comedy act, by a deeply flawed and morally indefensible individual. Laugh at him by all means, but anyone who votes for him is a fool.

Let’s face it there are many many rich people who evade prison by employing a better lawyer or tagging some other person with the blame usually by paying them off.
Look at the MP,s expenses scandal ,not many if any went to prison ,it was no mistake to fiddle expenses it was fraud committed by already wealthy people who felt untouchable by the law.

Funnily enough there’s polling on that very question and last I saw it asked over 70% of the People of Scotland would be happy for the border to be hardened.
Those in Coldstream might whinge but they tend to vote Tory there so commupances. If we reclaim Berwickshire and get the border running all the way along the middle of the Tweed the border hardens with fewer crossing points than now.
When living in London every time we came up we would stop at the border for a symbolic step across and we weren’t the only ones. The tourists would love it, especially if we offered optional über Scottish stamps.

The Poms demand Brexit, the ERG have pushed it all the way to No Deal
So what does Boris do?
1. call a GE
Nope that wont solve any of the above and possibly may reduce his majority of one. Even if he gets a massive majority he still has to solve the above issues.
So IMHO it does not matter whether he calls one or not, in fact it is a big risk to him.
2. Wind down the clock till 31Oct
He can do this subject to Parliamentary arithmetic, but it still won’t solve the issues, in fact it exacerbates them,
So what can he do
3. Call a Border Poll for NI, the Irish then have two options
a) Reunify Ireland in the EU,
b) Brexited UK with hard border.
As I see it Boris only has option 3 for a possible successful outcome. All other choices lead to a dead end.

Not only does it seem that Boris has found the Magic Money Tree which Treeza said didn’t exist, but Boris is going to climb right into the highest branches in order to improve his chances of capturing any piggies that may happen to fly past.
Don’t be fooled into believing it’s money that is trickling down, it’s probably just Boris relieving himself.

The private prosecution person boosted his crowdfunding to take criminal action against Boris. Not sure where his extra £200,000 that the newspaper refers to has come from, but fair play to him.
The case is still live and being progressed up to the Supreme Court.
Whether it is Wings Over Scotland or another website, I am REALL LIKING the power-to-the-people energy generated by these crowdfunder endeavours. It feels like we plebs can actually do something to stop the thieving lying scummy segment of politicians who disgrace those who are genuinely in there to make a positive difference.

North Wales Police have confirmed that 5,000 people are marching in Caernarfon today (Saturday, July 27) for independence for Wales.
It took well over an hour for the procession of flags and placards to make the journey from the Balaclava area, around the Castle and to the Lloyd George statue on the Maes. And by the time they got there, the figure was 8,000.

That gets my vote.
It works as a last resort option, but with bold Scottish leadership and some imagination, I firmly believe that Westminster / England, and the EU too, could both be persuaded that Scotland remaining in Europe opens up a world of new options.
It isn’t only in Scotland’s best interests, … that much is obvious. But we need illustrate a scenario whereby Scotland staying in Europe is in England’s best interests too.
I don’t think it would be unreasonable for anybody to expect the breakup of the UK to be a cliff edge event, but instead, a calm and gradual period of orderly transition. That scenario almost falls by default to Scotland being in a unique, bespoke position, with one foot in Europe, and the other in the UK.
We can in my opinion, embrace the “holding pen” status first mooted by Europe way back in 2016, but as Scotland manoeuvres to embrace the EU and extricate itself from the UK Union, there is every opportunity for that unique transitional status to allow ongoing dialogue and negotiations between Europe and England, with Scotland as a buffer state intermediary.
Yes, I know, some people will argue that Westminster will never embrace the concept of Scotland breaking up the UK, and to a degree that’s true – in some respects. But while Westminster may be truculent and intransigent in some areas, in other areas, embracing Scotland’s transitional status can prevent catastrophe for English interests. Even if we can’t convince British Unionists to actually back Scotland’s emancipation, I believe we can and should make as many of them as we can, be a lot more ambivalent about Scotland’s departure.
They might never actually support Scotland breaking away, but if Scottish Independence can help England avert catastrophe, then the debate about Scotland is much less polarised. The abstract and arbitrary Political Union is commonly exposed as superfluous, but there’s an opportunity for it to be replaced by a meaningful Trade and Cultural Union which serves a rational and logical purpose, and actually serves the interests of both Nations.
Scotland would lose NOTHING by doing this. Even if we had to redevelop and substantially upgrade our infrastructure to cope, it would be outside investment coming in to Scotland, with England and Europe footing the bill.

Is indeed the very best solution. An even greater advantage is that whilst the Irish border is actually extremely long (it is extremely convoluted), with many, many crossing points, by contrast the Border of Scotland with England, si relatively direct, comparatively short, and with fewer crossing points.
It is really odd, that nobody in number 10 has had the vision or ability to actually see just how good a solution this might turn out to be. If you were looking at the problem, from outside the UK, and explained the backstop, the demand for the end of London rule in Scotland, and so, on, it really makes sense.
But of course, as we all know, Westminster would not pursue such a common sense approach, since they firnly, in their minds absolutely believe ‘Scotland is theirs’, that ‘they OWN Scotland’.
Good to seer that Wales is now also increasing its support to end London rule. I have a very high opinion of the Plaid leader, a very smart man.
