Brilliant!

heedtracker

Politicians, supporters, academics and all Great British newsrooms.

Gordon Hay

Glad to see Police Scotland aren’t going to allow themselves to be used for Project Fear’s latest Demonise Yessers strategy. Cue accusations of SPF being Alicsammin’s poodles/police state stormtroopers.

McHaggis

‘Telt’

Elaine Colliar

Hands up anyone who thinks that Press Release was the “cleaned up version”?

I think the original language would have been more florid and descriptive for sure 🙂

robert urquhart

That’s a belter.

horacesaysyes

Spot on!

RogueCoder

That’s Im Murphy MP bitch-slapped then 🙂

Marcia

Smack on head for weekday Herald.

Sverre Koxvold

I read the Guardian and the ‘i’ today and both were customarily anti-Yes.No change there. But I was wondering what the Herald is up to; Amazingly biased towards the No-Side. I was about to write them a note saying they are off my reading list.

David Turner

So a retraction or an apology will be forthcoming ? Nah I don’t think so somehow

Colin Church

Looking at the videos of Jim Murphy in action surprised he hasn’t been lifted. Time yet…

Dorothy Devine

I am so pleased!

I was utterly appalled by the irresponsibility of any paper giving a platform to the two cheerleaders willing to incite trouble.

So thank you to the Police Federation for being equally appalled and recognising they have policed with absolute ease any march or BBBC protest in which I have taken part.

mr thms

Another attempt..

It’s just a one minute clip.. But it is evidence

Anyone else notice the man on the left with the dark hair and black coat/anorak?

He shakes his head, says ‘Nope’.
Then, nods his head (twice) and says ‘Go!’ ‘Go!’

Just BEFORE the eggs are thrown..

He then applauds Jim Murphy’s wee rant

Can’t post the whole link – watch?v=GYdp-BgGkr8

hint – mute the sound

eezy

Even the Police get it….Superb!!!!
Jim Murphy, shame on you.

fairwolf

Brilliant! Another blow to the Unionists, well done Stu.

Quentin Quale

Well, it does make you wonder how Murphy conducted himself when he was ‘involved in discussions’ with the police? I wonder if the phrase ‘wasting police time’ featured.

Lesley-Anne

Well waht do you know. Herald tries, and FAILS, to stir the shite and in jumps the good old police and gives the Herald a damn good slap around the head with a wet fresh Kipper and tells them to behave themselves OR ELSE! 😛

liz

Immediately posted on the Herald.

They deleted an earlier post of mine suggesting similar.

Milady de Winter

Well that just made my night! Seriously if I get any more wound up reading the rubbish put into the newspapers I will give myself an ulcer. They really are getting desperate now!

Ken MacColl

The Herald is a dead loss and its spiralling sales confirm this.

joe kane

If the hordes of wee Scottish wifies that besieged red tory MP Jim Shouty everywhere he went are anything to go by, this is the kind of carnage we can expect on Referendum Day –
Monty Python – Hell’s Grannies
link to youtube.com

Suzanne Bosworth

Oh joy.

Given that the police say they weren’t called about Egg-Gate, yet Murphy’s lot are saying they called five times, something smells of dead rat. Perhaps the whole incident got on the SPF’s last nerve, and the stupid story about imminent carnage snapped it.

I agree. I expect the first draft of that press release was emitting blue smoke.

As good as saying, you keep going on about carnage you’ll be inciting it, so on your head be it, pal.

YESGUY

All these small victories are a blessing,

I thought the last month of this referendum would be scares and smears at Salmond and Sturgeon. But no we have the edjits hogging the headlines and the big OO march still to come.

Take care out there Wingers. keep you mobile phone camera ready and avoid the No’ers as they won’t change in big numbers now.

Sooner or later the MSM will be unable to keep quiet about the NT tactics.

Most folk are fine and agree to dis-agree, but there are a few everywhere that resort to violence. To be honest this has been on the cards since Darling labeling YESSERS nazi’s and the rest of the leaders of NO are getting desperate.

Our police will be on their toes now and that’s a good thing. Stay strong folks. Avoid their traps , we have a country to win back and only three weeks to go.

We don’t have time to argue with morons.

Albaman

Aye but which daily will report this, never mine give it prominence!!.

dennis mclaughlin

What a sad state of affairs when the National Police have to remind those concerned that this is a overwhelmingly peaceful and stimulating experience being hijacked by forces determined to undermine our democracy.
They have been warned!.

Albaman

And how about the B.B.C. & ITV will they report?.

uilleam_beag

In my opinion, the Herald’s biggest mistake wasn’t just running the story straight (as opposed to a reaction piece ridiculing BT’s statement, as deserved) but the reference to the Argyle St arrest in about par 3 or 4. This is presented as being for an alleged assault on a woman following a clash between Yes and No campaigners – but it comes directly after a series of allegations against the Yes camp and fails to state that the victim was a yesser (and pregnant!) and the alleged attacker a no activist. Any normal reader would be likely to infer it was the other way around.

When the FM mentions the attack later on, it’s not made clear he is talking about the same incident.

Lesley-Anne

Anyone interested in the debate in Stornaway can watch it live over on Livestream here. 😉

I think the police should have tried the handcuffs on Michael Settle and Kate Devlin, just for good measure, then maybe frog marched them a wee bit, for inciting unrest.

IcySpark

Wow this is a belter.

dadsarmy

I made a comment on this comparing the Herald to tabloids and rabble rousing. It was deleted.

Bob Sinclair

Well it looks like BBC Scotland is dishing us up another dose of patronising S***e under the guise if ‘impartiality’.

dadsarmy

Anyway, I think the NO camp damage themselves by going on about that. And now for something completely different, please circulate this link and sign the petition:

Lesley-Anne

I’m watching the demolition of Lamont up in Stornaway so I may be gone for a wee while folks. Have NO fear though I SHJALL return! You have all been warned. 😛

muttley79

The idea that there would absolute carnage at voting stations on the 18th September is absurd, batshit crazy mental. The No campaign/MSM are a complete disgrace. This sums them up to a tee. It is the usual predictable gibberish and downright dangerous rhetoric from the British establishment. They have nothing to offer the people of Scotland at all. Devlin and Settle should be ashamed of themselves. At least Dateline Scotland now have a story already this week to run with!

Devorgilla

I wonder if the police cautioned Murphy will rabble rousing. But he has turned it around to suggest that they were being concerned for his security.

dadsarmy

Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 Section 54, use of megaphone (microphone and amplifier)?

Midgehunter

Nice to see the police refusing to give jim murphy any cover for his disgraceful comedy. He’s not far away from UKIP and certainly not a socialist.

Ein egg, ein yolk, ein Reich. 😉

galamcennalath

IcySpark says:
“Wow this is a belter.”

Excellent US radio report! The guy has an absolutely accurate picture of what’s going on here.

I posted this on the last thread, but I think you’d all like to hear it ….

I can’t reveal my source, but I have just had an email from a very reputable academic source which says “a sizeable swing towards Yes on the way”

Nation Libre

Good on the SPF

An example of curtness that Mr Wolfe would have been proud of. Now, pretty please, with sugar on top, clean your effin act up BTNT

Les Wilson

There is no doubt momentum is rising, obvious really with all the panic measures the Unionists are using now. Clutching at straws seems about right,in their desperation.

like the fb page so far. 🙂
perspective.
the herald and murphy should be ashamed of themselves!
will they be?

Les Wilson

It is high time the Police said something, but this was a very good time to state their views.

Alec

Are people not getting Police Scotland mixed up with the political organisation Scottish Police Federation ? And are people not getting disruption of the polling stations mixed up with the disruption of Jim Murphy’s campaigning ? I’m not hearing any disgust at these “Yes” demonstrations blocking free speech. I feel disgusted at the behaviour of my fellow Scots but doesn’t seem Wings Over Scotland do !

seanair

Thanks IcySpark for the link. Haven’t a clue who the principal speaker was but he certainly nailed the British Press, the BBC and the NO campaign for their cheating. Think the YES campaign should sign him up and get him on a Yes broadcast on BBC and STV. An impartial view from the U.S.
Not getting anything from Stornoway, seems you need some kind of entry system.

Les Wilson

From the Herald page
” One senior No campaign source said: “We are worried that there is going to be absolute carnage”

Question WHO said it? Then WHY did they say it?

I think it was a blatant attempt to frighten people from voting such is their desperation. Sicko’s!

Grendel

Check out the Turn Your Back On Bigotry page on facebook regarding the Orange Orders march in Edinburgh. Silent protest only, facing away from the marchers. Much like Mr Salmond has suggested we do with Jim Murphy.

Dan Huil

YouGov poll tonight. Daily Mail. 10pm. Or so I’m told.

IcySpark

I’ve contacted Stu about the American radio show, but can someone please twitter him too. It would be a great story as it will be as how others see us and not from any Yes, No leaning.

Eric D

Settle’s just another Gardham – but I’m disappointed with Kate Devlin – unless she’s been ‘got at’ by the Herald’s unionist Mafia.
I think folk might be surprised by the number of ex-cops who are active within Yes Scotland, and many of our former colleagues would be, if they could.

Grouse Beater

I saw the Herald front page from my the petrol pump at the gas station. It stuck out like a squashed road squirrel among the rational headlines of all the other newspapers, as if a foreign paper had been dropped into their midst, the Syrian Daily, or some such government war rag.

Eric D

Les Wilson – they aren’t allowed to say anything – only the Federation can.

Talking to serving officers, they’re just as concerned about a UK-wide Police Force as the Scottish NHS is about Labour’s proposals for a ‘UK NHS’.
Like the Scottish NHS, we’ve always had our own legal system, including the Prison Service, Fire and Rescue, and Children’s Hearing system.
They all know the Supreme Court is just the start !

Any Wingers who requested a copy of the Wee Blue Book from the Rev who are in the Dundee area please check your email.

The books were delivered late this afternoon and need picked up ASAP.

I have yet to hear from 5 who made requests and have been given an allocation, any books not picked up by Wednesday will be collected by myself and distributed to others.

We need to get the books into the hands of people immediately so cannot afford to wait. Cheers.

Jim Mitchell

Sorry O/T but lets get this to number 1

Tomorrow is the start of the week that we can really make a difference folks, to get not just a song to the top of the UK charts, but to show everyone what can be done when people are galvanised by one cause, to help to inspire the undecideds out there that anything is possible if we all stick together.
So far this song has a social reach of 600,000 which is beyond my wildest dreams, so let’s do this and give the Yes vote a serious boost for the start of the Month, as ever, I’m really grateful and humbled for all of your support on this.
For iTunes(only buy Cap in Hand): link to itunes.apple.com

Thanks to Bob Sinclair for going out of his way to bring me some wbb’s your a gentleman Bob, but interesting the description Irene gave you of the woman who assaulted her with her umbrella turns out to be Murphys P.A.

Interesting she hurt my wife with her umbrella before it was apparent she was a yesser, it would seem the only way she could have known (no badges) was if the hangers on in the shop doorway id’d the wife as a yesser, they didnt know I was one and didnt have any minders near me.

BuckieBraes

@IcySpark
That US radio broadcast is splendid. Apart from referring to Alex Salmond as the ‘Prime Minister’, the correspondent can hardly be faulted in his understanding of our constitutional situation.

Meanwhile, this side of the pond, look at the apology for media coverage that we are stuck with!

Ian Kirkwood

On/T:
Interesting to note that The Herald mods are working overtime to control comments regarding the PFS statement. Blatant media bias and abuse of their power to hid true public feeling towards a media release from a public authority.
This is completely unacceptable.

YESGUY

@Alec: And are people not getting disruption of the polling stations mixed up with the disruption of Jim Murphy’s campaigning ? I’m not hearing any disgust at these “Yes” demonstrations blocking free speech.

Spare me. If Jim Murphy’s free speech is being “blocked,” then it’s not working: he’s gotten wall-to-wall coverage on the TV and papers.

Yes has given Jim Murphy and other pro-Union MPs plenty of opportunities to discuss and debate the issues in a neutral environment, and Murphy himself has declined on at least one occassion recently. Most BT speakers like Darling only speak to exclusive, vetted audiences. So when they finally do come out into the public, they’re surprised when faced not with idle sycophancy, but criticism and – gasp – disagreement.

The day vigorous and passionate debate is “blocking free speech” is the day free speech has lost all meaning.

Devorgilla

I know that the Press Complaints Commission are next to useless in doing their job in Scotland, but surely by putting this to print the Herald must be breaking some kind of rules and should be punished severely.

There is a lot of pent up anger at the moment (even I feel angry and worked up and I’m a quite mellow person who would rather walk away from a fight or agruement than get involved) and this is due to all the negativity of BTNoThanks and the virtual wall to wall coverage of everything they say and do without recourse for the last two years, that if a lid is not put on it soon, something is going to blow and the trigger to me could well be the Orange Order March in Edinburgh or Nigel Farage’s visit to Glasgow.

Andrew Parrott

For Ananurhing on another thread. With regard to WBBs in your area please let me have an e-mail address I can contact you on.

Les Wilson

The Unionists are getting very agitated, do they know something we don’t, yet?

Truth

Well done Scottish Police Federation.

This is just the sort of action that goes a long way in building up trust between the police and communities.

Something some of our politicians and media moguls could do with learning from.

Sinky

Despite the BBC / MSM lack of coverage over the physical attacks on Yes supporters and a Yes shop fire bombed over the weekend we will remain positive and not diverted from the job in hand.

But it would be good to nail the egg thrower and if he gets caught… will it become known as Aubergine gate?

It would be interesting to see if Labour politicians now start attacking the Scottish Police Federation.

@YESGUY thanks. I think it’s important that in the middle of our campaigning for a YES we remember there are other things – and maybe use our activity to help out.

@Ian Kirkwood yes, I posted a one-liner about it “of direct relevance … SPF” and when I checked half an hour alter, it’s not in my profile. Thread too long to go to bottom to check, would take about an hour!

I think there’s an out and out unionist mod on the Herald, or it’s Settle himself, probably the latter.

Trikes for Yes

O/T First time post here but on another thread request for people to inform about distribution of Wee Blue Book. I am based around Inverness/Black Isle and am willing to print off as many Home Printing editions of the Wee Blue Book as possible between now and 18 September for free. Not sure how many that may be but my partner and I hope to get started tomorrow and as we both work part-time we do have time to dedicate to the task. Not sure how best to contact the right people to get the books out there. Have tried the Yes Black Isle facebook page and the Wee Blue Book facebook page without any response at present. Any ideas/suggestions/contacts greatly appreciated.

PickledOnionSupper

Surely the only place there’s likely to be “carnage” is at BT/No Thanks HQ, when the Yes vote is being WEIGHED at all the counts….

dadsarmy

@Ann nil carborundum – don’t let the buggers grind you down, It’s exactly what they want, exactly. The sensible thing for the Herald to do is retract and apologise. They’re very near to breaking the law with both headline and article – incitement to riot. I doubt they will do that.

We have to rely on 99.9% of the population having the wit to see what’s going on, and I have faith in that. I talk mostly to NOs and they are disgusted with BT.

@Dennis, me too, I’ll never sign up for them.

BigRik

I said it before and i’ll say it again… expect dirty tricks… it’s how the establishment works..remember , these people have a large gravy train to lose.

“One senior No campaign source said: “We are worried that there is going to be absolute carnage””

Democracy is fine as long as we’re just voting every five years to select whomever we consider the less depressing of two dead-eyed PR men to preside over the sinking ship. Allowing people to vote on something they might actually care about, though, is highly irresponsible, because the masses are basically feral and can only express strong feelings through violence.

On a happier note, it looks like a very interesting YouGov tonight.

Great US radio show. Looked it up Its “Netroots radio: the after show” they dont have a clip of the show from today on the sight yet will probably have one soon tho as they have the show from yesterday.
And that fantastic reporting was their Government and World Affairs Correspondent, Will McLeod!

Robert Peffers

@Albaman says: 1 September, 2014 at 7:39 pm:

“And how about the B.B.C. & ITV will they report?.”

Matter of fact, Albaman, I shot of a complaint this morning to the BBC Trust about BBC Bias. The complaint was that while there have been two court convictions in the past few weeks of dangerous or assassination threats against the FM, (The Aberdeen Tailgate case and the death threats case yesterday), plus an OAP YES campaigner with a broken wrist, A Yesser grabbed by the throat in a pub, the pregnant woman kicked in the stomach and the Hearts for YES assault. Yet the BBC fails to report them but gives wall to wall coverage claiming the Murphy egging was an organized YES attack but there was no evidence to prove it.

I do not expect to get any real reply as they have a set minimum time to reply that means the referendum will be over before they answer. It will though, be on record for future actions.

‘Why I will never buy the Herald again’

By G.A.Ponsonby

Ananurhing

Andrew Parrott 9.06pm

Hi Andrew, posted my email ad off topic 10.10pm

Graeme Doig

Just a wee story about potential carnage tonight.

I was out delivering Yes papers tonight. Rang someones bell as they had left their front door open. Elderly woman came to the door. We had a wee joke about security and then i handed over the paper. All well at this point.
I then asked her if she had decided how she was going to vote. Told me she was voting no – potential flash point!
Then asked her if she minded telling me why (a big risk given the dangers). She said she would have definitely voted yes back in the 70’s but felt we couldn’t make it now. Reasonable point of view but i’m getting nervous.
We then proceed to have a long conversation covering many topics. It was touch and go for a while.
Carnage was averted however and we bid farewell with said lovely woman the proud owner of WBB.
It’s not easy 🙂

Dave McEwan Hill

Might I suggest that all enraged by the behaviour of the Herald write to its owner Gannett in the US.

I had some success a few years ago when I did a daily “Herald watch” which I sent to the chair of the group in the US every week.
The Herald is one of the oldest newspapers in the world and was a national icon

Martin

Good for the polis. Incidentally, I’m noting in all this doom and gloom mongering that the fact that the 55 yo man was a noer and the woman was a yesser (and preggers) is missed out. Now, personally I’m all for that in general, but given the reporting of such crimes as a sticker placement this smacks of sweeping britnattery under the carpet to keep the agenda met.

Robert Peffers

@john king says: 1 September, 2014 at 9:52 pm:

“The sun always shines on the wicked,

(sorry Bob)

Oh! No need for sorry. I spent a lot of years in Rosyth Dockyard in Yard Services on Maintenance before they forced me into the RADAR Bay Radiac Lab. Out in all weathers, up big Cranes, down tunnels under dry docks, on ships, up very high lighting gantries. Rain, hail, sleet, snow or scorching Sun – no problems. It took me a quite a while to settle down to working indoors, (although we did get some time up masts of aerials and radiation detectors).

I also did a spell on Inshore Radio Station maintenance Here’s one you might know – Ever been to Port Patrick? If so you will know the radio aerial up on the cliff top. I’ve worked up that aerial. As my old Irish labourer used to say when we were working down the dock gate tunnels and he looked down the vertical ladders, “That’s a terrible height down”.:-))

Muscleguy

@Colin Church

Word from people who were there is that Murphy stopped when advised by the police that if he didn’t they might arrest him for a breach of the peace. Seems if you turn up uninvited on a street, stand on a box and use and amplified microphone you need to be cognisant of your responsibility should you antagonise people.

macart763m

Is that police diplospeak for: ‘You numpties. What were you thinking?’

Nice one. 🙂

Robert Peffers

@Andy smith says: 1 September, 2014 at 9:57 pm:

“John king,Ah, but do they still have clippies there?

Clippies? They don’t even have the old bus garage building now. It’s been demolished. What they do have, though, is, “The Clippie’s Fare”. The Old No1 Goth pub became the No1 Inn and they added a resturaunt and named it, “The Clippie’s Fare. The No1 is just across from where the old bus garage was.

David Stevenson

With reference to the “carnage” threat, a couple of weeks ago one of my pals decided to wind up his “No Thanks” neighbour by asking him if he had heard about the change to the voting arrangements.

He then advised him that the authorities were expecting a massive turnout and were a wee bit worried about antagonisms surfacing at the polling stations. To avoid any bother, Yes voters were to show up on the 18th and No voters on the 19th…. “Is that right then?”

Rock

Their scaremongering will backfire on them.

Yes voters are determined and will go out to vote Yes regardless of anything. It is only No voters who will get frightened and stay at home.

They are of course trying to create a self fulfilling prophecy. ANYTHING to prevent a Yes.

Alan Mackintosh

Herald – Newsquest – Gannet US only makes profits (UK) by printing UK Gov (Westminster) literature. They survive on Westminster Gov contracts. The newspaper is a lose making subsidiary. They are in Westmibster pocket.

Scotsman carries massive UK debt. £300Million? Reconstructed debt. Huge loses. Only makes profits printing Labour Party literature. Based in the NE of England. Thrybcan’t are in the Labour Party’s pocket.

The Piper (Westminster) calls the tune. They are printing/publishing companies. Gannet US prints/markets private school literature worldwide. The newspaper division is a subsidiary making loses. No one buys them anymore.

Ken500

Murphy gets arrested. Gets a conviction. Can’t stand for election? Karma.
