Wings Over Scotland

A brief word of thanks

Posted on September 29, 2012 by

The last seven days have been the biggest week in the history of Wings Over Scotland, eclipsing even any of the ones at the height of the Rangers fiasco. The site saw a total of 86,522 page views over the period – 15% up on the previous best – in a historic week which also saw us break the 500-posts and 10,000-comments barriers.

So thanks to all of you for reading and sharing, thanks to everyone who marched for independence in Edinburgh last Saturday, and most of all, our very special thanks to Johann Lamont. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Congratulations, Rev Stu. It’s been a truly entertaining week, and hats off to you for turning out so many good posts in quick succession!

And thanks to you for some magnificent, cutting, well researched, funny and honest articles.
You are the full breakfast cutting through the fog of our hangover.
    Keep up the good work.

Congratulations. It’s only a matter of time before your numbers exceed that of the once decent & balanced (Glasgow) Herald & Scotsman paper.

I found Lamont’s recent accusations of the “rich” freeloading off the poor insulting. Lamont hopes the poor are stupid enough to accept that their life is worse because a minority of people who are well off can get prescriptions at the counter without paying any additional money. And she uses same childish argument regarding ‘free’ bus passes.

While I enjoy an income well above the average individual’s pay in Scotland, HMRC will relieve me of £43,000 in taxes by April 2013.

Perhaps the dim witted Lamont could explain how many prescriptions I will have to claim before I am considered benefiting from the poor?

Congratulation Rev on such a positive week. Much has happened over the course of the last 7 days, from the Indy March and Rally through to Lamonts speech and devastating performance against Nicola Sturgeon at FMQ’s. She has again gone into hiding letting her party and press cover the week that was.

Next week the media will cover the Labour Party conference in Manchester as Labour continue to ratchet up their plan to project Labour as a Party that is capable of being seen seriously as a party that can govern.

We have over two years to go before we get to vote on how Scotland will be run and the powers it has to look after Scotland’s lot. There is much work still to be done to improve Scotland and the lives of it’s people. Independence is not the end game – it will only be the beginning.

At the risk of being seen as a sycophant, I have to tell you that WoS is now the FIRST place I log onto when I open my computer.  It is, by quite a margin, the best Scottish political blog I know.

Bravo – and more power to your elbow.

Only discovered your blog a few months back during the Rangers fiasco (you see, it was worth all the articles).

Now, essential reading – very well done to you!

Like Alpinal, I ALWAYS make sure I visit this site FIRST. I am not behaving as a sycophant when I say this. NNS used to be my first port of call every day but after a few “problems” I looked around and came across Wings. I have NEVER looked back.

Congratulations on your achievements so far Rev and MORE power to your fingers and keyboard for the future! :D!

In total agreement with all the above positives, WoS is required reading for all who would see their country independent. I think there is little doubt that this site will go from strength to strength, as the independence movement gains momentum.
WoS also provides invaluable information which other nationalists can use in a variety of ways, hence the work done on this site makes a hugely significant contribution in the struggle for self determination.
Many thanks from a lifelong nationalist.

We’ve been lucky so far, with few unionist trolls.  Because of that, RevStu has been able to get away with an extremely light moderation touch.  What will happen when the threads are invaded by Grahamski and his socks posting content-free nastiness about “jowly Eck”, I dread to think.

I will simply echo the above posts, and add my kudos. WoS is also my first stop of the day now, since NNS decided it didn’t want repeat visitors.

    Rev,
I concure with all the positive comments here, like others,I too open your site
first, but surely you must have “behind the sceen helpers”?
how else could you keep up with those fast changing political events
thinking of the Joann utterings, is it not frightning to think what would
happen to us all in Scotland should the vote turn out to be a “no”!!.
the only way Labour can get out of thier latest blunder would be to ditch
J Lamont, and elect a new leader, BUT WHO?, who among those left has
the ability to lead,Malcome Chisolme?, no I recon he`s aready thinking
of becoming “independant” and looking forward to sitting beside
“oor Margo”! no there is no-one in the S.M.P. Labour group with the
political savey and sense to step up to leader, in fact Joann Lamont
has not even got basic dress sense!!.

What you see is what you get. Of course there are the posts by the likes of Scott and Sue and others, and the occasional tip-off from an alert reader, but basically anything that doesn’t have someone else’s name on it was me.

Congratulations, and  thanks for all the work producing your articles and exposing an MSM that is unfit for purpose!

I, too, make this site one of my first ports of call each day as we continue on our journey to that monumentous date when the people of Scotland choose to regain their rightful place on the world stage in an independent country.

Keep exposing the lies and the liars.

Keep exposing the misinformation and the misinformants.

Keep exposing the charlatans who only want to do us down.

    Keep kicking against the pricks!!

Just want to agree with all of the above.  It’s just such a refreshing change to read someone who is not afraid to say what they think and mean what they say.  Keep up the excellent work.

P.S. I think you should add a 3rd option to the Johann poll, along the lines of should she remain in post to greatly assist the Yes campaign?

Like many others apparently, I started reading this fantastic site regularly during the fall of the mighty Rangers. Keep up the good work, Rev. Campbell, it is making a difference. May I remind people who appreciate this site: Don’t just keep it to yourself – SHARE. Many people have been aware of MSM bias for years, but there is also a large number of converts and undecideds who are still searching. Wings over Scotland could be what they are looking for. Spread the word.

Luigi kinda beat me to it there. Like everyone else on here and further to my earlier post WoS is the berries, the problem is how many people see it?  Many of the people on here are life long nationalists (self included) we are the converted, our problem is how do we get the marvellous work done by the Rev Stu out there to the masses?
Luigi is bang on, we need to share and spread the word, however is there any way to go that bit further and go national? By that I mean let everybody in Scotland know that this site exists. Rev Stu could you seek sponsorship for advertising for example?  Would it be possible to recruit celeb’s., vip’s, etc to attract media attention to the site?  I know I am being a bit presumptious here and the the bold Rev might not want any publicity which would invariably give him more work; however I just think this site is invaluable and the more Scots who see it the more likely we are to achieve a YES vote. Apologies if you think I am OTT Rev but I think your work should go national if not global, now that would get wee McMaggie in a tiz! Time for the thinking caps quines and loons.

I was on holiday over the last week and couldn’t always access Wings on my phone.  When I did manage to access it, I then found that the phone wouldn’t let me post any comments.  I swear I started to have withdrawal symptoms!  Rev, I am about to confer on you the accolade I normally reserve for Nicola Sturgeon alone – like Nicola, you are undoubtedly the dogs bollocks!
