    Dear Mr McCann,

The thing is you are a Labour M.P., at the present time. What ever happens in the FUTURE is completely out of YOUR hands. Therefore what ever it is that you WANT and what ever it is that you actually GET are two entirely different things.

I learnt as a rather small child that what you want and what you get are not always the same. I would therefore suggest that you put some extremely serious thought into what you may want to do after May 7th if, as may well be the case, you are no longer an M.P.!

Of course you may well get re-elected by your constituents provided that:

    a) they like you

    b) they believe you have done a good job

    c) you have represented them well at Westminster

    d) you have NOT let your constituents down by voting AGAINST what was in their best interest

    e) you have put your CONSTITUENTS needs ahead of your own

    f) you have put your CONSTITUENTS needs ahead of your party

    g) you have a HIGH record of attendance at Westminster

    h) you have a HIGH voting record in debates

    i) you are NOT in the list of HIGH expenses claimants

Provided you meet these criteria Mr. McCann then I believe you may very well be in with a chance of retaining your seat. If, however, you do NOT meet these simple criteria then I’m sorry to say you will no longer be an M.P. but signing on at your local Dole office! 😀

Michael McCann is a Labour Whip – a corrupt bully and liar:

    – Prior to the last General Election he was exposed as the author of potentially libellous letters placed in the local paper under the name of a “front” and attacking anyone who dared to criticise his vile mentor Rt Hon Adam Ingram.

    – In 2011 BBC Scotland and the Sunday Herald both exposed McCann failed to declare an interest with local builder and major donor to Labour in East Kilbride, James Kean. McCann was a South Lanarkshire councillor on its Planning Committee when numerous applications related to Mr Kean were considered. McCann made significant interventions in a dispute between Mr Kean and a rival bidder over an planning application that stood to earn the victor around £18 million. Kean Properties won.

    – Last year Mr McCann was charged with “breach of the peace” for verbally abusing and threatening two teenage ‘Yes’ campaigners. The case is currently with the Procurator Fiscal.

So, denizens of East Kilbride –
Vote ‘No’ to SNP subjugation and deceit!

But here we get just a repetition of the “SNP bad” mantra. They seem to think that all they need to do to win the argument is state that the SNP want to break up the union. The whole point is that 45% – almost certainly more now – DO want to break up the union. Or to put it in more positive terms 45% want to run our own affairs. I met him at a debate during the indyref campaign, and he is at least one of clueless or dishonest. For example, he maintained with smug conviction that my UK passport would become invalid in the event of a Yes vote. He didn’t go into detail about how that would work exactly, what with residence not being related to citizenship, he just wanted to maintain the air of fearful uncertainty about the outcome.

Interesting that like the Slab letter up there, this Graun shyster in particular also pretends THE VOW never happened.

Is there a pattern forming here with our imperial masters, they really worry about what might happen to Scotland if England did not control us.

“For those Britons who value the union and would feel diminished if the Scots left it – as well as fearful on their behalf in a harsh world – this is dangerous territory. Sturgeon is a nimble political heir to Alex Salmond (does backseat Alex still pull the strings? I don’t know) who is seeking to reassure disaffected Labour voters in Scotland that defecting to the SNP on 7 May will not be helping the Tories get re-elected at Ed Miliband’s expense.

Of course, that’s what it will do and, as such, may help Sturgeon’s strategic goal of breaking up the state, whatever the price of oil.”

When he says Britons are fearful on the Scot’s behalf, who exactly are Britons anyway and why do Britons need their loyal Scots to stop England voting blue Tory and ah whats the point, its a like a hall of mirrors now teamGB.

It truly is unique, some of you may have watched yesterday the excellent interview of James Kelly (Scot Goes Pop). Without an outlet like Indie Live we could never see such an interview.

If you have stopped paying your TV licence because of the bias please consider making a donation so as we can keep our grassroots fledgeling media going.

Maybe next time the Rev is in Scotland we could have an interview from him? What about it Rev?

Big or small, even very small donations would be welcome. The sum he is looking for will keep Independence Live going for the next 4 months and take us beyond the GE. It works out at just less than the minimum wage. That is dedication.

I am after a bit of advice. Today I received an email from the petition site 38 Degrees saying…

“Hundreds of 38 Degrees members have volunteered to hold meet-ups across the country to talk about what we could do together in the run up to the general election. Picture the scene: it’s a pub, cafe, or community centre down the road from you. You meet half a dozen or so other local 38 Degrees members. Together, you discuss what you could do locally, and brainstorm ideas for making a difference nationally. Your ideas will shape how 38 Degrees members make the issues we care about the hot issues at this election.”

I gather that 38 Degrees was set up by individuals linked to Labour. The organisation now says it is independent, but I am left wondering if these get together so are a ruse to sweep up more Labour members… can anyone enlighten me please?

We were told in 2003 by the proponents of war that the invasion of Iraq was needed to make us safer, such was the threat from weapons of mass destruction, which supposedly could be launched at 45 minutes’ notice.

But no one could today seriously or honestly claim that the Iraq War has made that country itself, the wider Middle East region or the world as a whole a “safer place”.

The war’s legacy has been to usher in an decade and more of bitter and bloody sectarian conflict, including the rise of Islamic State militants as a destabilising force in Iraq and neighbouring countries.

Which Britain is a geographic feature, an archipelago that includes, besides the four countries of the United Kingdom, (which are a royal realm and not a country), the Republic of Ireland, the non-UK Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey and the non UK Isle of Man. These last three are Crown Dependencies and they carry British Passports that differ from UK passports by not having EU on the cover. They are Her Majesty’s subjects but not UK citizens. Aye! Dorothy, that is indeed the way of the SNP. It is the basis that makes sure the chosen hierarchy don’t go the way of the Red/Blue/Yellow Tory parties. Remember the fiasco of Glasgow Council when London Labour sent up a man from London who deselected several sitting councillors and forced the local constituency associations to adopt the candidates London chose?

I’m quite surprised that so many on WoS don’t realise just how democratic the SNP really are. Anyway, if things keep going the way the present polls and membership numbers show, then there will be many more council candidates required in the not too distant future.

  157. Dorothy Bruce

    says:

Thepnr, every SNP member has their own view of the type of candidate they want. Some may well have a better idea than others of the sort of candidate likely to succeed – though I guess we probably all have our own ideas about our ideal candidate. Short of indoctrinating all members in a constituency you can’t get them to vote for the candidate you, or perhaps other people on Wings, think by far and away the best. Some members are more ‘political’ than others, some may judge by other criteria, such as whether a potential candidate is a rousing orator, or whether they are well-known and liked locally.

This is a very different situation from the Craig Murray affair. He was considered unsuited at the time of his application to go on the list of approved candidates. Ivan was on the approved list but has not been successful in the ballot of members to be selected as a candidate in either constituencies he went for.

I met Ivan during the indy campaign and really hoped he would be successful in getting a seat. It’s very disappointing that he hasn’t. There will be a load of other good people in the same situation as there were quite a number of people in for each seat. We can only hope Ivan gets another chance, perhaps next year, and is successful then.

As human beings we all have our own likes and dislikes. What that has to do with the Labour Party I’m not sure.

The SNP party selection procedure is as democratic as it could possibly be. Why you keep insulting it, and the integrity of SNP members, is obviously down to some dislike you have.

I’m not sure if your insult about cleaning out the house was aimed at me, but I am not an SNP member, so my house is entirely my own.

I have no idea why Ivan McKee was not chosen as a candidate. I think some constituents have made a huge mistake. I reckoned he should have led the Yes campaign.
But hey what do I know.

In my area of Argyll & Bute, we have 3 candidates to choose from. Prior to hustings I was pretty sure who I would vote for from various correspondence.

But after the local hustings I am struggling to pick the right one as they all came across as honest, intelligent and committed.

In truth, I have found the process to be brilliant and open and engaging, and I’m not the only one!

Each candidate was asked some very challenging questions so it’s not as if we held back…and I and most folk didn’t personally know all the candidates beforehand either.

Thepnr…I hope that you aren’t going to continue to complain about a system that is as democratic as you could hope to find and which you obviously have taken no part in.

I was wrong to criticise the SNP members for making their choice. It was my disappointment and surprise at Ivan not being selected that set me off.

Opened my mouth before engaging my brain, apologies Dorothy.

I think the selection problem is that as not all these 93,000 members are active & they’re voting for candidates they don’t know.
There’s also the problem of candidates still campaigning when the votes are in long since.
The election panel is another matter entirely and the system possibly needs re-booted.
