If only they’d thought of it earlier Margaret Ferrier could have gotten some – particularly given the extent to which colleagues were allegedly convinced not only about the danger that she was in personally, but her risk to others in consequence.
That said, initially triggered by the spirit of the jest, the following might be of interest to anyone able, or keen, to get legalgpt onside and proceed with due caution:
Section 2(14) of Criminal Justice Act 1987 (*1) being, in context, an abomination (presumption of innocence renders entrapment fraudulent and a specific offence of telling lies to a policeman would be arbitrary) the strict inference from the oddly worded police caution (*2)
“You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence.”
when taken in context of Section 2 (3)(a)(ii) and (b)
“..
(3)
The Director may by notice in writing require the person under investigation or any other person to produce at [F6such place as may be specified in the notice and either forthwith or at such time as may be so specified,] any specified documents which appear to the Director to relate to any matter relevant to the investigation or any documents of a specified [F6description] which appear to him so to relate; and—
(a)if any such documents are produced, the Director may—
(i)take copies or extracts from them;
(ii)require the person producing them to provide an explanation of any of them;

is that anyone who is questioned for serious fraud prior to being charged MUST become immune to prosecution (and presumably also able to invoke Scottish precedent to benefit from judicial review and reasonable compensation in advance of any such prosecution being attempted.. 🙂 )

Crikey! With WGD paying 2500 quid to get his car through the MOT he might want to consider giving up the blogging and instead learn vehicle maintenance and repair. Or alternatively spend his time learning which few models of car on the planet that aren’t just shitey money pits.
It’s a worthwhile endeavor as bought my car for a hundred quid 10 years ago and it’s still going strong with over 300k on the clock.
I got it cheap coz it needed… a radiator! Bonus was I managed to source a used one off ebay for 10 quid delivered! 🙂
It did require 20 quid of antifreeze to fill cooling system though, because for some inexplicable reason Ford made the cooling system volume huge as if everyone was going to be towing a heavily loaded car and huge caravan across the Sahara.
NB. Antifreeze isn’t just for winter to stop frost damage to engine, it also contains corrosion inhibitors to protect components in contact with the cooling system from damage.
Top tips for MOT passing:
Putting a pack of chocolate Hobnobs or box of fudge donuts in the passenger seat prior to test has been proven to increase pass rates.
Probably going to be a straight fail if you put a YES badged car into a unionist run garage. And vice versa with a union jackery equipped vehicle into an Indy supporting garage.

You’d think after slavishly trotting out support in the face of every SNP financial disaster (legal or otherwise), WGD would have remembered not to be honest about where a large chunk of the money was going.
Also, with that kind of bill it may be time to look to start again with a replacement. It looks to be throwing good money after bad. You’d not take that sort of approach with other things, like ferries for exam…oh, never mind.

If sir, you cannot with logic and reason explain why independence is sensible and normal for around 200 countries but isn’t for Scotland, then you either have to abandon, or at least moderate, your vituperative disdain of Scottish nationalism or else have yourself considered the thicko you so hastily declare others to be.
Remember, any retort must contain logic and reason, not simply more of your customary cheap insults.

Each crime its own merits but looks as though the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) act 1995 respected the Law in so far as refusing to give your name, address, place and date of birth, mothers maiden name, etc was a possible exception to being not obliged to answer any questions – and thus not a crime even AFTER you’d been charged as being suspected of involvement in an actual one.
By contrast, the Criminal justice (Scotland) Act 2016 appears to have used ambiguity in the earlier act to introduce the name rank serial number obligation. A nucrime which, by accident or design, is negated by principle of Self ID (FFS? 🙂 )
*not necessarily bad for business in the cops v robbers game since its been honed over centuries of war and is presumably intended as an aid to interrogation resistance rather than, say, as a means of grooming the public to make interrogations more challenging for those who enjoy that sort of thing.
