Big Auntie Is Watching You update

Posted on July 29, 2018 by

So what we only suspected is now official. In a response to The National, the BBC have confirmed that they were behind the termination of this site’s YouTube channel.

We have to admit, that “irrespective of the political views” line is a classic.

All joking aside though, we must confess to a modicum of shock. Despite everything, we still at least partly thought there was a chance that it was down to some malicious impersonator, but the state broadcaster has now publicly acknowledged that it demanded the removal of some short clips of news and current-affairs programmes, published in full accordance with the fair-use exemptions of copyright law, and all of which identified the sources of the clips used.

When YouTube have stopped making quite such a gigantic pig’s breakfast of all the technical aspects of the termination, we will of course be filing formal counter-notices for all the allegedly offending items. YouTube’s normal procedure in such cases is to reinstate the videos, having provided the complainant with the necessary details to bring a court case should they decide to do so.

So either our channel will be back online soon, or YouTube will be making a special exception to its own rules in order to suppress a political voice at the behest of a supposedly impartial media behemoth, or the BBC will be taking a website to court for reporting the news.

Either way, this could be about to get very interesting.

[EDIT 9.18pm: We just received a response from YouTube to our latest counter-notice, which listed the 60 most recent videos posted on the Wings channel. According to YT the BBC had only objected to ONE of those, and after some effort we managed to identify which one it was. It was the first one from this article.

Which is to say, it was an interview WITH ME from Sunday Politics Scotland. The BBC has had YouTube shut down my entire channel for supposedly infringing its copyright by posting a video of myself. This story gets madder and madder.]

    BritNat Brainwashing Channel strikes again.

  2. Tony says:

So who made the complaint to the BBC about “large amounts of bbc material being used”

  3. Name (required) says:

its not fake news that bothers me
    its fake fairness, fake impartiality
    and fake democracy

  4. Hamish100 says:

will the troll from yesterday who said ” who said it was the BBC” step forward and identify yourself.

  5. jimnarlene says:

Do unionist parties, and blogs still have such BBC content up loaded?

  6. Graham says:

Jimnarlene asks: Do unionist parties, and blogs still have such BBC content up loaded?

Well of course they do, but here’s the thing.
From a state propaganda ministry perspective,
Yoon use of BBC content is “fair” use.
Separatist cybernat use of BBC content is “unfair” use.

  7. handclapping says:

British Broadcasting Censorship strikes again. Lets be having FoI requests about this as its not news, art or literature

  8. Douglas gourlay says:

So, simply put, the bbc arguement to end your YouTube broadcast on the basis of copyright should be extended to all YouTube purveyors of bbc productions. At once. Now.

Good luck YouTube and bbc. Can’t wait for you to explain that.

  9. Pablo Dem says:

So if we all post complaints to the BBC about the Scottish Tories site using umpteen BBC videos throughout it’s pages, that should be sufficient for it to be shut down?

  10. Mad Unionist says:

Scottish moaners must be the best in the Yooniverse. And that beard Revd reminds me of the stoning scene in the Life of Brian.

  11. Merkin Scot says:

The BBC has been ‘officially’ unmasked as being against Scotland. That is good for us in the long run.

  12. Mad Unionist says:

In the long run Scotland will leave the EU and remain in the Union.

  13. HandandShrimp says:

Well lets see who else they go after. So far it seems to be only Scottish pro Yes sites.

Will they be fair and even handed and go after Guido and other political commentators as well as SiU and others? (I don’t think they should be going after anyone btw).

This Shrimp is not holding his breath.

  14. Capella says:

Can you sue them for defamation, false accusation, wasting everybody’s precious time? Lies and mendacity?

  15. Bob Mack says:

I detest them. This is the next phase of attempting to shut down Scotlands voice. We must fight this with everything we have, and by any means at our disposal. This is subversion by an arm of the State.

  16. Kenny says:

Apparently Scott Arthur got a load of BBC material removed too. It will be interesting to see if any more “offenders” will be reported. Of course, the Rev is the only one who is a card-carrying journalist, so his need for the material is greater than most. It makes the oddness of the attack on him more heinous, but also hopefully more easily challenged.

  17. Brian Powell says:

I suspect Scott Arthur didn’t get material removed, if he did I would check when that happened, possibly after this came up. And what kind of material, innocuous stuff from S Arthur to cover the real stuff from the proInd sites?

  18. Jason Smoothpiece says:

    Irrespective of the political views.

Well thats okay then. I’m reassured, everyone getting equal treatment thats what we want.

I mean it’s not politically motivated or the work of the intelligence services, oh no just fair across the board.

As a rather crude comedy show occasionally said ” I smell shite”.

Apologies to the nice folk on here for the rough language.

  19. Luigi says:

I don’t suppose we will ever get a name of who made the decision to complain to YouTube about WoS. Was it an exec decision at the highest level? Those BritNat cowards would think twice if they could not hide from public view under Auntie’s skirt.

  20. Gary45% says:

If anyone on this site still pays the bastard TV licence.
SHAME ON YOU, how much more proof do you need????
When stooges rant about North Korean/Russian government control, we now have the proof the UK establishment is a million times worse.
Welcome to Big Brother is Watching you UK.

  21. One_Scot says:

Man I will give you the shirt off my back if you need it to nail these crooks.

  22. Luigi says:

Some Freedom of Information Requests to the BBC may be in order, me thinks.

Eg. How many sites/bloggers have they complained about/shut down?
How many YES/NO, REMAIN/LEAVE, Orange sites have they “dealt with”?

Let’s turn the BritNat’s favourite weapon against them. 🙂

  23. Turnip_ghost says:

They removed them after complaints were made about them being used? So, who complained to the BBC? Cuz there’s a long list of people who’d want to cripple this website amongst others. Does this also mean if we complain about the Tories using BBC videos, they’ll be removed…?

  24. Vic r says:

So who complained to the BBC?

  25. Karmanaut says:

The BBC has become the voice of Gammonland.

  26. Luigi says:

I smell Tory mischief in all this. Has someone had a word in the BBC exec’s ear?

  27. Mad Unionist says:

Luigi pasta eater. We Britnats will surprise you if you fascists call UDI. We will see who the cowards are.

  28. Alistair Robertson says:

Sue them. I’d like some non-supporting taxpayers money going to you in compensation and revenge.

  29. Marker Post says:

It’s that word “normally” appearing again, as in the Sewell convention.

Actually, the BBC response is very badly written. It is also inconsistent, in the first para it says it did not ask for the whole channel to be removed, then later talks about a process in place to challenge take down orders. Looks like the statement was prepared in a bit of hurry, without their lawyers’ involvement.

  30. Hamish100 says:

mad unionist– yip sums up the DUP, gove, johnson, rees-moggy 1V,

  31. Luigi says:

Oh dear, the BritNat troll on shift is trying hard to stir the shit tonight. Must be badly rattled. 🙂

  32. Nation Libre says:

We really need someone to take on the licence fee in court, stating refusal to pay is down to the BBC failing to uphold it’s own charter of impartiality. We must have enough evidence now to take them on. Just think of the publicity

  33. Mike says:

It will be interesting to see the extent to which the UK MSM suppress the developments no matter how interesting and news worthy they become.
Suppression of real news seems to be their prime purpose followed close behind by the promotion of alternate versions.

  34. twathater says:

As I posted at end of thread 29th July but I feel it has more relevance here

    @ Ronnie Anderson 11.12 am

I agree Ronnie , it’s high time this govt propaganda channel and it’s minions faced the Scottish Court system , surely there must be some independence supporting legal eagle who is just as sickened as the rest of us at this blatant deliberate attempt to subvert and silence the independence cause , who is either willing to take on individually or collectively this behemoth.
Is there some organisation that would work on a no win no fee type of deal , where agreement could be reached that if the case were proven against the BBC bias , any compensation awarded by the courts the lawyers would receive 95% of the levy alongside the BBC having to pay all legal costs , this would definately sweeten the pot .

There is multitudinous examples of their bias and lies relating to brexit the SG and the independence cause , I am sure there are many high profile remainers all over the UK and Scottish politicos who would relish sticking the boot into this despicable organisation , and it would highlight and expose to the wider public how they have been manipulated and lied to and just how corrupt and untrustworthy the great AUNTIE BEEB is

  35. One_Scot says:

Lol, mad Yoons used to annoy me, now I just see them for the pathetic individuals they are.

  36. George Anderson says:

Well done Wings, you have them rattled, keep the pressure up on our ‘Neutral’ BBC.

  37. Mad Unionist says:

Luigi, wot you gonny say wot you gonny day, shaddupayaface. You are not Scottish Luigi, just an EU snake crawler and no friend of us real Scots.

  38. Scottish Steve says:

I see we have a visiting troll tonight. Mad is certainly the most appropriate name for him. Funny how he calls us fascists. It’s not Yes voters I see doing Nazi salutes all the time…

  39. Bill Hume says:

Oh I do hope it means a court case…….we have your back Stu.

  40. stuart mctavish says:

Poor show from you tube given the amount of commercially copy righted material on their site for which no shits are given to the rights or otherwise of the copyright holder.
Considerably worse from the BBC, who in the event of a perceived breach, ought first to have approached wings directly.

  41. Valerie says:

Where are the articulate Britnat trolls? Why are we being annoyed by this third rate fanny?

  42. Bill Hume says:

Unionist……check (or is it check mate?)

  43. Marker Post says:

Just sent my FOI request to the BBC.

“Can you provide me with a list of the Take-Down Requests that the BBC has issued for YouTube content since January 1st 2017, for individual videos and for channels”.

Expecting a stock reply, but at least it occupies their time, and I’m not paying for it anyway since I don’t have a TV license.

The down-side is that I had to give them my name and address, but hey ho they probably had it anyway after the police seized WOS equipment last year.

  44. Petra says:

God they didn’t even have the decency to contact you before or after this vile fiasco.

I would like to see them in Court having to divulge who complained, which videos they asked YouTube to remove and which videos they’ve had removed relating to “other individuals / organisations across the political spectrum.” Who and what are they?

  45. Famous15 says:

Too many people are diluting the evil the BBC perpetrated.

It is not a breach of copyright if you reproduce otherwise copyright material in order to demonstrate that it is a falsehood. The BBC and their lawyers know this. Ditto material you use to show any other wrongdoing.

The BBC is biased. I no longer pay for their lies but I still monitor them and they are welcome to knock on my door where they will partake of my wit and wisdom.

  46. Dorothy Devine says:

Please , please ignore the ‘third rate fanny’ as Valerie so eloquently put it .

A response only encourages the below average intellect.

Any photos from Inverness of the march?

By the way , I like the silent protest idea on the 11th , funereal is the way to go!

  47. Mad Unionist says:

In general fascists are dictators mainly right wing but not always who do not accept the will of the people in a democratic vote. Nat sis is a suitable and fair description.
According to the Nat sis the Svottish people were stupid for voting to remain in the Union and the British stupid for wanting to leave the EU organisation who cannot do an audit!

  48. One_Scot says:

Lol, developments on twitter regarding TubeGate. It seem too bizarre to try and even explain.

  49. Scottish Steve says:

    @Mad Unionist

Do us all a favour. Go have a wank on your union jack flag and give us all peace.

  50. Bob Mack says:

    @Mad Unionist.

You reek of Orange Lodge. Wait till I tick off my checklist.

    Semi literate—-yep

Staunch ( with a paunch) —yep.

    That’s us frightened then.

There will be no UDI, but if there is any problem with Unionism, it is vermin like you. Begone before I call the rat catcher to have you dealt with.

  51. Petra says:

I wonder if the BBC is now frantically contacting YouTube to have the channel reinstated? The last thing they need is for masses of evidence to be presented in Court that highlights how biased they are. Biased for example against Wings / us, the SNP, Corbyn / Labour party and Remainers.

  52. Meg merrilees says:

This is a all aimed at trying to distract The Rev and take up too much of his valuable time so that, in theory, he is preoccupied and has less time to spend doing his daytime job -i.e. fighting the corrupt state and its media mouthpiece the Biased Broadcasting Conglomerate.

    Don’t get side-tracked Stu.

We are obviously getting close to the prize now.

According to the Independent, there are 1.6 million more youngsters than there were in 2016, who are now eligible to vote if there were to be another EU referendum and the ‘worry’ is that this number will dwarf the Leave majority… makes me wonder just how many more youngsters there are in Scotland since 2014 eligible to vote in a forthcoming Indy ref and would that impact on the No majority??? ( Plus, how many elderly No voters will not be around to vote in an upcoming ref?)

  53. Brian McHugh says:

The BBC should take note of the recent Clara Ponsanti crowd funder… If this requires the same, then the masses are ready to step up.

  54. Petra says:

Sadly looks as though the troll is achieving his goal. Bringing out the worst in us and detracting from the issue in question. Please ignore. Better still Stu could think of blocking him altogether.

  55. Macart says:

A bad move by the Beeb. Without a blanket copyright claim against ALL those who archive clips, they’ve instantly painted themselves into the corner of partisan censorship.

Not the brightest PR move they’ve ever made to be sure. Do they for an instant, think this’ll win back trust or build bridges with a public now increasingly sensitive to corporate or political manipulation?

  56. Alan Mackintosh says:

From Stu’s twitter feed, The clip which the BBC did the copyright strike on is actually the interview Stu gave to Politics Scotland…

  57. Robert Peffers says:

    @Mad Unionist says: 29 July, 2018 at 8:19 pm:

” … In the long run Scotland will leave the EU and remain in the Union.”

Oh! Dear! The Englander idiots are out in force today. Even the Scottish Britnat ones Here’s a very old Scottish Proverb, (English Translation).

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
If turnips were watches, I’d wear one by my side.
If “if’s” and “and’s” were pots and pans,
There’d be no work for tinkers’ hands.

I see the Britnats are also feeling inferior and insecure again as a Welshman wins The Tour de France, their MSM headlines read, “Britain’s Thomas wins Tour de France”.

And the whole World laughs for the whole World knows if the winner is claimed by the MSM as British it means the winner is a non-English person. If Thomas had lost he would have been referred to as, “Welshman looses Tour de France”.

  58. Conan the Librarian says:

It’s the same sad wee wank that infests SCOT goes POP!

  59. Jim says:

High time the SNP were publicly calling out the bbc.

  60. Mad Unionist says:

Bob Mack, to mention the Orange Ludge suggests you are a bigot from a different variety and you hate your fellow Scots because of their faith. Who is the bigot Mr Mack! And you use the vermin word which is reminisent of the Nazis towards the Jews. Your simmit has slipped herr Mack.

  61. Robert Louis says:

Now the whole world can see what a pernicious organisation the BBC really is. As somebody above pointed out, it isn’t fake news that is the problem, it is FAKE ‘balance’, FAKE ‘impartiality’, and FAKE ‘honesty’, that are the real problems, and all three are prevalent at the BBC.

In many ways, the events of the last 48 hours have illuminated just how the British state operate, and just exactly the levels they will stoop to with their BBC apparatichiks in order to thwart ‘dissenting’ voices.

The British state says ‘You will agree with brexit. You will vote against independence.’

It is a very slippery slope, as too many other countries have found out. How long before we are all told ‘we will vote tory’.

Point out that the BBC are liars and your YOUtube channel will be taken down. Worrying times.

  62. Jim says:

LUIGI, “pasta eater”! Dinnae worry, it’s just Murdo Fraser sittin wi a can o’ Kestrel …..

  63. Rod Miller says:

So according to Aunty if we all complain about a unionist channels/sites contents then the will take the same action against those channels?

  64. Robert Louis says:

Please do not fee the trolls (really poor quality tonight), they want to provoke a reaction and divert this thread. Do not let them. If you reply to them, they win.

  65. Luigi says:

    Don’t get side-tracked Stu.
We are obviously getting close to the prize now.

Wise words, Meg. Let’s focus on the prize. 🙂

Not sure about demographic effects on the YES:NO ratio. I did a back-of-the-envelope calculation in 2014 and estimated it would be 10 years (ie. 2024) before the young YES wave came through to make it more than 50%. However, that was before EVEL, BREXIT and the most incompetent, nasty tory government in living memory. As a result, 5-10% have already swithed to YES before a campaign has even begun.

The elephant in the room is the (5%) group of YEStoNO switchers (ie. BREXIT supporters). Not sure how they will go – difficult to predict. What I is that if it were not for these strange voters, we would already be home and dry.

  66. Stu, under the Data Protection Act you can demand a Full Record Print of every piece of information on you held by the BBC.
For a small fee they are legally obliged hand over copies of every piece of information held by them relating to you and bearing your name.
Perhaps that might be one avenue to get to the bottom of this puzzle.
BTW it is illegal for them to shred and delete any info on you once the request has been made.
    Just sayin’ like.

  67. Mad Unionist says:

Conan the empty bookshelf, this wee wank has women do it for him. Chug away son.

  68. Robert Peffers says:

    @Capella says: 29 July, 2018 at 8:22 pm:

” … Can you sue them for defamation, false accusation, wasting everybody’s precious time? Lies and mendacity?”

    Why bother, Capella?

The only ones they have injured are the BBC themselves and, of course, YouTube owned by Google.

I may decide to change my search engine to Dogpile or even Microsoft Bing. Who the hell wants to support a company that is hostile? There are always alternatives on the web, as certain companies who got too big for their boots, have found in the past. I was just reading today that even Facebook was losing user.

  69. Bob Mack says:

    @Mad Unionist,

No, not at all. Having spent a large portion of my working life in the East of Glasgow I have come to know exactly how the Lodge operates. Full of people like you who hate everything and anybody not of the Lodge, or subservient to the State and Queen. Involved in paramilitaries from N Ireland and peddling drugs for those same people here in Scotland. Preparing for a showdown if Scotland ever votes Yes by gathering drug money for funds.

Hide all you want behind your troll name, but ultimately I know what you stand for and it’s not pretty. It is pathetic. Just like you wee man.

I agree with you Meg, very much so. All the Beeps have to do for any legal biased claims is show a couple of right wing sites (that we probably have never heard of) that they’ve taken down, and not only does it become much harder to prove political bias, but any reporting of the case (which the Beeb would have a large chunk of) Wings would be lumped in with the same bunch.

A lot of their lying is by omission and it is extremely difficult to prove, and always has been. Prof Roberston did some absolutely fantastic and time consuming work gathering evidence of it – in a generic format – for an individual case I suspect it would be even harder. Very expensive, and very time consuming.

Is it possible they’ve been flexing their muscles with You Tube, testing the waters so to speak.

Public protests on the other hand – I think that’s a goer.

    Best wishes to all.

“Luigi pasta eater. We Britnats will surprise you if you fascists call UDI. We will see who the cowards are.”

We already know who they are you idiot. For starters it isn’t legally possible for Scots to call UDI and Westminster has recently legally admitted that – In Scotland the people are legally Sovereign. When a majority say Goodbye Kingdom of England it means goodbye Kingdom of England – all three countries of it and I’m betting the N.Irish will follow us out.

  72. Schrodingers cat says:

I think this last ploy by the BBC may just bite them in the arse.

The anger on social media is palpable. It confirms 100% the belief that the BBC is biased. Not just those who already knew this but also in those who only suspected it.

  73. Shinty says:

Nice wee proverb Mr Peffers, thank you.

I cannot for the life of me understand why England is not more gracious in giving Wales the credit, this is a huge achievement.

Well done Wales, you must be so proud.

  74. Mad Unionist says:

Poor Bob Mack fantasist and claims to have worked in the East End and clearly never lived in the East End. A real bigot personified who hates his fellow Scots. Go on Bob name a pub and a street in the East End!

  75. vlad (not that one) says:

    Please ignore the mad hat(t)er.

  76. @Robert Peffers

Strangely there were no Englishmen in the SKY Team that helped Geraint Thomas win Wales first Tour de France,

    Thomas – born Wales,
    Rowe – born Wales,
    Gomez – born Columbia,
    Castroviejo – born Spain,
    Kwiatkowski – born Poland,
    Moscon – born Italy,
    Poels – born Netherlands,
    Froome – born Kenya,

should use the UN flag/anthem when the SKY team win.

  77. yesindyref2 says:

It makes you wonder when the BBC is going to ask youtube to take down this lot:

Oh, and “Gaspode”, time to use your commode. You’re full.

  78. Ian Brotherhood says:

Can we please resist the urge to converse with that eejit?

As Rev has repeatedly requested, use the contact form via the ‘this page’ (blue highlighted) hyperlink at the foot of this page and report it properly.

The man has quite a lot on his plate right now so we can help out in practical terms by saving him the bother of scrolling through all this. Please – it’s not difficult.

  79. Macart says:

    @Schrodingers cat

I suspect you’re right. You can’t unsee or unhear a thing and people are upset about both instances.

Not a good look for the Beeb.

  80. Bob Mack says:

    Your local probably. Louden

  81. Fred says:

Who is the new guy at BBC Scotland?

  82. cirsium says:

    @Robert Peffers, 9.45

Instead of google, why not try Duckduckgo? No tracking

  83. Artyhetty says:

It’s suspect in that Youtube took down the whole channel. Why would they do that? I have heard they have a habit of taking sites down, an ask questions later, attitude.

Not good enough youtube! They do what they are asked by the powerful it seems. Internet neutrality is on a very shoogly peg. We live in very interesting and different times, to what went for news, and politics and democracy in the past.

The BBC are an utter disgrace, what more is there to say. It is sinister to have such an organisation wielding power, when it is meant to be a public body, and when the people are actually strong armed at least, into paying for it.

What would the BBC do without public money? It’s a lot of money I presume, given the population of the whole of the UK. Anyone know how much?

  84. Mad Unionist says:

Mr Boab Mack, I assume after your investigation of the Ludge and drug money for Unionist insurrection you have handed names over to the polis unless you think all the Scottish polis are in the Ludge! You are a fantasist and braindead fanatic Mr Mack. I only drink in my Club with fellow Conservatives.

  85. Robert Peffers says:

    @Nation Libre says: 29 July, 2018 at 8:44 pm:

We really need someone to take on the licence fee in court.

    Why bother, Nation Libre?

They lost their case years ago. There hasn’t been a case of anyone being convicted of non-payment of a TV licence in Scotland for over 5 Years but 10s of thousands have been jailed in England see this:-

The BBC’s licence chasers are actually breaking the law against coercion in Scotland by the way they operate.

Under Scots law it is a criminal offence to demand money with threats and it even specifically mentions the threat of legal action and every begging letter the BBC contractors send out has an implied threat of legal action.

BTW: I’ve posted that information here on Wings on several occasions. They also break the law of harassment and/or stalking. I have a wad of letters at least 1″ thick and I haven’t even bothered saved them all.

The big joke is that I’m well into my 80’s and could thus have a free licence – but there is no legal duty to tell the BBC anything and their so called, “Officers”, that they imply are law enforcers are nothing of the kind. They simply work from an office. To the best of my knowledge, and I’m virtually permanently housebound, they have never called at my address.

So just ignore them and, if they call do not tell them anything except to leave your property. Doing so cost the BBC money so let them get on with their illegal activity – it’s like fining the BBC.

  86. Mad Unionist says:

Mr Brotherhood, have you ever worked for a living! Ever carried a hud full of bricks up a ladder and earned a days pay for a hard day’s work. Or is it bullshit at taxpayers expense.

  87. ronnie anderson says:

Luigi Ah guess the Mad Unionist is wan of they Bolognazi’s lol.

  88. Marie Clark says:

Jeez oh! What a mad world we’re living in at the present time.

I don’t know what the hell the BBC think that they’re up to but I agree with Cat, it’ll come back and bite them on the arse. Big time.

I agree with others, it’s a distraction for the Rev, to have to spend his time trying to talk to youtube to find out which clips are breaching copyright. Then to find out that the one complained about, is actually one that you are in, well, the mind boggles.By the way, who made the complaint to the BBC that they claim that they had to act on? Would be interesting to find out.

This has a way to go yet I think. Please take care Stu, and if you need a fundraiser, we’re here for you. Your work is invaluable to all of us on the independence side.

Oh and when the Indy Ref 2 comes, We’ve another three votes in our family from the young ones who were to young to vote last time. Sure our family are not alone in that. Stay safe.

For some odd reason somebody who shall remain anonymous, passed me the BBC internal module which is a pre-requisite for anyone in news and political affairs. I studied it and then did the attached test, and manged to pass with distinction, with 13.5%, apparently the highest mark ever – in fact the only mark in double figures.

Suitably armed with the appropriate tools of the trade I applied my new-found knowledge, not to the usual SNHS story, but to the question of just how many Unionists there are in the whole of Scotland, and arrived at the figure of 3,159 and a third.

The BBC were happy to show my full report, and you can see the 30 minutes of footage on Youtube.

The BBC DOES actually know that oor Stu IS the person IN the video and as such THEY are denying HIM the right to “view” and share a video of HIMSELF … right? 😉

Maybe didn’t want Rev focused on the need for individuals stocking up on food/medicine, because he may have hit on something the Tories didn’t want people speaking about on social media.

If I remember correctly, the Rev mentioned in a tweet, that the Tories were telling people that THEY the Government, were stocking up on food and medicine, in case of a ‘No Deal’
however, it soon began to emerge, that the UK does not have the facilities to stock up large amounts of food.

Rev wrote in a tweet that this was the Tories telling us that WE had to start stocking up on food.

Being the deceitful liars and cowards that they are, the Tories didn’t want to have to deal with the ensuing panic that would result (they also wouldn’t want the potential disaster to impact on their holidays) so they just put enough information out there, for people to start thinking they needed to start preparing for the ‘worse case scenario’.

So, did someone see revs tweet (we know they watch it carefully) and realise that it could start the panic that they were desperate to avoid, and get on to the BBC to order them to do whatever they could to distract Rev?

    @Jim says: 29 July, 2018 at 9:31 pm:

” … High time the SNP were publicly calling out the bbc.”

Why would the SG/SNP want to do that, Jim?

The BBC are their own worst enemy. Let me put it this way so you can see what I mean.

It isn’t the SNP that has seen the Scottish people stop paying their licence fees in very large numbers – it is the BBC themselves that make the programmes that Scots no longer want to view.

It isn’t the SNP/SG or independence supporters that have alienated the BBC it is the BBC that have alienated their own former viewers. Furthermore, and I only have my own and my acquaintances word for it, these non-licence payers are mostly not breaking the law because they are actually not paying a licence fee because the really do not watch BBC or any other live broadcast video. They either have cable or watch paid for internet stuff.

Which may explain why the BBC licence chasers have never had anyone convicted for non-licence paying in Scotland but there have been many i0s of thousands put in jail in England.

The BBC’s latest idiocy in having Google, (who own YouTube), pull the Independence supporting websites videos will not only create martyrs but lose the BBC, Google & YouTube customers. Then, by losing users, they will also lose advertisers and it is advertisers who pay for both Google and YouTube. See how the profits of Facebook have gone down because of their pulling stuff by users.

When it comes to social media the real bosses are the public. Alienate the public at your peril for the public are fickle and fashions change.

What’s more social media is like London busses – if one fails to turn on time there’ll be another couple along in a minute.

I used to do regular YouTube videos of Stuff I videoed and edited myself but got quite fed-up with having no control over the ads that they inserted within my stuff.

I already posted a link to an article that quotes a FOI that states not a single person in Scotland has been convicted of Licence non-payment in five years. I’d bet there will be a further big dip in TV licenses as a result of the BBC/YouTube actions.

The BBC afforded him the opportunity to produce a one hour programme (wonder how much that cost?) to convince us that, well basically we’d be Better Together. No mention that he was not a historian, but rather he’d been (still is?) an MI6 Officer.

Craig Murray had met Stewart, when Stewart was working in Afghanistan as an agent, during the time that Craig was the UK Ambassador in Uzbekistan. Stewart has also been tutor to Prince William and Harry and his father had been Depute Chief of MI6. What a tangled web they weave, eh? All in it together right enough.

Wikipedia covers his time in Afghanistan as Stewart walking on foot across the country, and others, visiting villages and so on. No doubt some Philip Cross “interventions” going on there. He’s now Big T’s Minister of State at the Ministry for Justice – Minister of Prisons.

Note too that the BBC didn’t go out of its way to offer the same deal to anyone on the Not Better Together side, discrimination, even although over £300,000 a year wings its way down south to the Treasury. Well worth having a look at the video, if you haven’t seen it before. Better still before it disappears into the ether.

” … I cannot for the life of me understand why England is not more gracious in giving Wales the credit, this is a huge achievement.”

Oh! I had that one figured out years ago. It is a sign of insecurity and while the Welsh, Irish and Scots have a very clear idea of who they are and what their culture is the English have no clear idea of who they are or what their culture is.

Strange really for we Scots re every bit as mixed up as the English as far as immigrants are concerned we have always had a quite different attitude to immigrants.

History, though is the key. Scotland has never been a invaded and taken over in the way that England has. We were never part of Roman Britain, the Germanic Tribes from the Anglo Saxons to the Normans never managed a, “Conquest”, as they did in England but they got here in a different manner. Bruce and Wallace were Norman Knights but they came to Scotland and assimilated and thus became some of, “The people of Scotland”, Bruce’s mother was Gaelic Nobility.

It is still the same today, we do not ghettoise immigrants we assimilate them and they become the people of Scotland. The English expelled the Jews for hundreds of years but Scotland is the only European country that has never had an official pogrom against the Jews.

The worst thing in Scotland was Christian Sectarianism and it still blights us today and, remember, it is the main reason behind the Treaty of Union.

” … Well done Wales, you must be so proud”

You can bet your bottom dollar that if a BBC headline says, “Briton wins something that the winner will be Welsh, Scottish or Irish. If the winner is English it will be, “England wins or English swimmer, golfer or whatever”.

Oh! For the love of Pete! How many times must it be posted on Wings before it gets through to some Wingers.

The BBC don’t get the Licence money to keep.

The BBC get an agreed Annual Grant from general taxation. Read the bloody Licence and see what it says. You pay the Government for permission, (that’s what a licence is – official permission to do or have something – in this case the Government’s permission to watch live video broadcasts from anywhere by any medium

If you want an answer then look up what the BBC & the Government agreed the BBC would get as a grant. It is on the net. In addition, as the BBC is a private corporation, it sells many goods and services throughout the World including, believe it or not, toys to children. Things like toy puppets that feature in BBC children’s cartoons and puppet shows. recordings and programmes like soaps and Dr Who series. Audio recordings of both programmes and music and much, much more.

They probably do not publish their sales figures but the government grant from general taxation is agreed by a parliamentary committee so will be recorded in Hansard.

I repeat The BBC do not get to keep the licence fee and they do not even collect it for the government now. That is now done by CAPITA.

So now that the Rev has stated “we will of course be filing formal counter-notices for all the allegedly offending items.” then the BBC have 10 business days to respond “with evidence that they have initiated a court action to keep the content down.”

All pretty heavy stuff, guess we will find out soon enough if the BBC decide to take Wings to court or allow the videos to go back up again.

    @Artyhetty says: 29 July, 2018 at 11:11 pm:

” … As far as I know it is also the case that you cannot be jailed for debt in Scotland.”

Correct but you can, according to the BBC Licence chasers, be fined up to £1.000 and they do threaten you with that in their begging letters. That, under Scots law is the criminal offence – coercion. It even mentions that a threat of legal action is coercion. Also, there is no English style law of trespass in Scotland but there is of invading privacy and they are not allowed to, “investigate”, only to enter into close proximity to a private dwelling to contact the occupier and that can be prevented by a simple notice like, “No Cold Callers”, or No Hawkers”.

I may be wrong but it couldn’t be a debt unless the person had agreed to pay for a licence.

Anyway, they have no legal standing and do not even have a right to assume who is an occupier and no legal right to be told anything by anyone. So don’t tell them anything not even that you do not require a licence. They do have a right, to ask for a legal search warrant but if they do not know who the occupier is they have little chance of getting a warrant.

A person being harassed by them with multiple letters could probably get a restraining order but why bother? It costs them to send out letters so it is like they are paying a monthly fine for bothering folks.

The big joke is often that the non-licence payer genuinely never watches TV or is legally entitled to a free licence being over 75.

Aye! But the Englanders are legally subjects of the Sovereign Queen of England but there isn’t a Queen of Scotland – only a Queen of Scots and the Scots are legally sovereign and that makes her our legal subject and we can legally sack her if we wish. But there is an even more really great legal truth that few seem to have realise even although I’ve almost spelled it out for them many, many times. I had hoped someone would have realised the implication but I suppose I’d best throw it open for debate.

In 1688 the English Parliament deposed their rightful monarch, (he was also the monarch of the still independent Scots but the Scots had not deposed their monarch), Anyway, the English parliament skipped over a load of he more important royal line to the throne and invited Mary & William of Orange to be the joint monarchy of the Kingdom of England.

Now here comes the big legal problem The English Parliament only invited The pair as monarchs if they legally delegated their Divine right of Kings to the parliament of England, (this was English law but NOT Scots law), and the Divine right of Kings is also known as sovereignty.

So here’s the big legal problem for Westminster. If Scots who are legally sovereign have the legal right to sack their non-sovereign monarchy and have never legally delegated their sovereign right to the parliament of Scotland or to the parliament of the United Kingdom. Neither the Queen of England, The Queen of Scots or the Westminster parliament of the united Kingdom or even the Scottish parliament are sovereign over the people of Scotland and the Supreme court have just conceded the people of Scotland are legally sovereign.

Where does this claim of Westminster to be totally sovereign over Scots or Scotland legally come from? So when did the Scots agree to allow anyone to be sovereign?

But here is the clincher if it is ever needed – When England’s parliament prevented the Kingdom of England from becoming part of the Kingdom of Scotland as would have been legal under English law in 1603, (it was still then Divine right of kings), and the King of Scots was not allowed to just add his new inheritance to his existing kingdom of Scotland as it would have been under English law the English law claimed that as the King of Scots he first of all wasn’t sovereign so did not own Scotland but they ruled that a person just by being sovereign could not give away the sovereignty of the kingdom because the sovereignty belongs to the Kingdom and not to the king of the kingdom. So how then can England claim the sovereignty of Scotland if, under English law, it belongs to the kingdom of Scotland and the Scots as sovereign cannot legally give it away.

Complicated to get the head around but is actually a very logical conclusion.

If the second video in the article, entitled “The bits that didn’t make it to air are below”, was never broadcast to the public by the BBC, then perhaps that is what they’re using as the excuse. Perhaps they claimed to YT that it was never their intention to show that footage and as such it remains theirs and theirs alone.

    Just a thought…

After a string of calls from business owners who face losing their companies after Brexit, an angry @mrjamesob railed at the “throbbers” and “fraudsters” who led us here. This is vintage O’Brien.

    Great links as always Nana.

Heartening to see O’Brien really letting rip, but it’s a crazy, crazy world in the Twitter comments below clip. There is something profoundly unsettling about the Pro-Brexit comments who condemn O’Brien for what he says, many incandescent with rage and cynicism, but nowhere can I detect any cohesive, objective, and logically argued positions. It is anger for anger’s sake, bass emotion bordering on hysteria but without any tangible substance.

It’s a lot like our YES debate. Those for Indy had a wealth of arguments and substantive information, but Better Together simply recycled waffle and disinformation over, and over, and over again. Nobody then, or since, could present you with a progressive argument for keeping the Union.

How can people become so entrenched about a position which they cannot put into words? I don’t recognise education in these people. All I see is conditioning and mind control.

England is tearing itself apart. Remain is numerically inferior but with much better arguments which Brexit will prove true in due course, but Leave has the “agitated mob” on its side, angry, not listening, bought and sold with populist invective. It leaves you with the depressing conclusion that England could very well be on the brink of civil war, except the Remainers are too smart to start it, and Brexiteers for their part are too stupid to.

I just don’t want to be part of any of it. Brexit is the will of a country that is ideologically alien to me. Scotland’s future is in Europe. Why must I suffer the despair of somebody else’s insanity? FFS get us out of this Union.

I put a FOIA request into the BBC on Saturday for all records of contact between them and YouTube in the last year. No response as yet to confirm receipt of it, but I will be chasing progress today. There’s a few potential angles here where they may well be vulnerable as far as having to step into a court and be compelled to try and justify the clear political motivation behind this fiasco.

Presuming a positive outcome with respect to the reinatatement of the channel there would be no loss in terms of this site’s time and expense, but if Stu had to incur even say £50 expense in seeking legal advice, or £10 in terms of phone calls to YouTbe or the BBC for example, an interesting prospect arises. It would then be possible to raise a small claims action to recover that amount from the BBC.

They’d be bound to defend such an action as the prospect of setting that kind of precedent would be a nightmare for their legal dept. The interesting aspect of this tactic is that the cost for raising such an action (apart from representation) would only be £85 or so, and the BBC could also be compelled to justify the expenditure of defending such an action to any 3rd party who asked them to do so.

Just a thought. I will post any update as to the progress of the FOIA request, which I presume will have been duplicated by more than a few people given how obvious a step such a request is.

‘The BBC has had YouTube shut down my entire channel for supposedly infringing its copyright by posting a video of myself. This story gets madder and madder’

To be honest, even I’m stunned at this level of hypocrisy …and well …sheer stupidity. What on earth were the BBC thinking? All they’ve done is pushed a newsclip that most folk knew nothing about, but if this situation continues to grow as a fairly major story, then everyone will want to see it. What was discussed and what was it that invoked the BBC to have it removed? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Jeez!

But as they say, those the Gods wish to destroy …they first make mad. And it’s not just one or two of them …it’s the whole of the British Establishment. They are absolutely panicking deep down as they finally realise that they have been caught in several traps of their own making and can’t work out how to return to those days pre-millennium where they were supremely in control. With the Internet and its freedoms, Brexit, the rise of Scottish nationalism and rebirth of Scottish culture and identity, the fear of a hard border in Ireland, a £2 Trillion pound debt, and absolute no chance of a decent trade deal, no matter if its is a Hard Brexit or not …they’re power and influence is dissipating on a daily basis. They know it, we know it, everyone knows it! …and because of that …it’s driving everyone of the Establishment to a form of utter madness and denial.

This BBC excemental behaviour may be the watershed we need to bump the 45% YES to a 55%+ YES for Indyref2.

Time for us to declare UDI from BBC Scotland and create a new Scottish media scene. ScottishTV online. Youtube started in 2005 with one single video. Fascinating to watch how a geek in a bedroom created a billion dollar company in 18 years from. %75 dollar personal computer.

For fun, you, Stuart Campbell have proven that we, the Scottish voter, have a passion and desire for your website content. It is a crass and blunt thing to cogitate, but…

How much is the Wings Over Scotland website worth?

Stu., would you accept £250,000 for your website? Serious question.

I know a man who would buy the site from you at that value (you would need a golden handcuff contract as editor in chief for 5 years on a good salary).

I don’t expect for one moment you would sell WoS, but that is not my reason for asking the question.

There is a more profound issue.

In valuing WoS when you posted that very first day, the WoS website value was say £200. Now you have built something that is worth a great deal. Monetising is not a good thing in this circumstance, but my thesis is if Scotland is ever to break free, we need to work very hard on getting these pages in front of Mrs McGubbings in Arbroath. The soft NO voter that reads the Sunday Post or Daily Mail. Those folk in Scotland who are not political anoraks and have no idea how bad Westinster and Tories are to Scotland.

We need Wings Over Scotland on media steroids.

I made a similar point around the time The National was born. Thank goodness the supermarket shelves are now fuller of The National and it does seem to be growng. That may buy us 2% more YES votes at Indyref2. But we need more.

The solution? Not quite Wings TV, but possibly a Scottish Youtube online television equivalent where ordinary folk can get readily available, high quality content.

Stuart Campbell, you have proven Wings Over Scotland has high quality content. Your readership numbers and £250,000 site value proves that.

How about we Winger Padowans help you financially start your own ScottishTV online channel?

How much would it cost to establish a stand-alone Scottish television media channel with video content?

Flipping that question, how much will we pay in heartbreak as the Westminster Tories continue to kill disabled Scots such as Paule Reekie and all the others on
