The Solution

All one can hope is that this was an unfortunate slip of the tongue.

Otherwise, folks, you’ll just have to buck your ideas up.

    had lost the government’s confidence

If that is the case, would it not be be simpler,
If the government simply dissolved the people
    And elected another?”

Very good, Rev. I didn’t know that Brecht poem before – it has made me laugh [ironically] which is something after the disappointment of the judge refusing to sist Alex Salmond’s case today.

What a bizarre thing to say. At what point in becoming a politician would someone forget he was there purely by the people putting their trust in him to represent them? What would possess a politician to turn that simple concept on its head? (Rhetorical questions).

I think he misspoke. He meant to say (for the camera), “The trust that the Scottish people had in us has been eroded”, although I have no doubt that he meant what he actually said. “It’s not our fault that we and the country are in such a mess, it’s the fault of the people who voted for us!”

Surely the contempt that ALL politicians from ALL political parties have for the electorate is encompassed in that one little statement and is evidenced by their actions daily

IMO Flynn is the perfect example of a politician who the second he achieves the gravy train status his acting skills of concern abandon him to be replaced by disgust for the electorate

This is why I regularly keep coming back to Wings although things in Scotland have been rather stagnant (and as it turns out, putrid) since c. 2016.

It’s not a solely Scottish phenomenon, I’ve heard politicians in my country decrying how the people voted WROOONG.

I was in the audience for Question Time in Aberdeen earlier this year and Flynn was on the panel. Something (stupid) he said made quite a few of us in the audience laugh – the look he gave us inferred he though we were all mad not to agree with him. He was made to look like someone of low intelligence especially by Alex Salmond who was also on the panel!

Quite frankly – its the only way that anything significant can change in Scotland – we’re getting to the point where – Scotland is too far down the rabbit hole, and only action can reverses it.

the last I heard the SNP were running about in groupthink mode talking, as to understand, a

    “failure to communicate”

    – but nah … I think people got the message … hatecrimes and cutting the kids tadgers off and general incompetence at anything in the “real world”

that phrase FTC – makes me think of Cool Hand Luke, and Boss Hogg and The Man With No Eyes …

There have been some amazing achievements – this “deposit return scheme” – how is it possible to – fuck something like that up and then, for the top prize – get sued for 100M for it.

    – there was a “scheme” when I was a kid, no one gave it a name, you just took your empty “ginger boattles” back to the newsagents / corner shop where you bought it. You got back 5 or 10p per bottle; of no interest to adults, but the kids would enthusiastically indulge in this. The shop owners always acted as if it was a big deal but they were rarely out of pocket, for as soon as you got your 50p or whatever, you immediately spent it back on – kola bottles, wham bars, sherbet dips, all that. The bottles were collected by the drinks lorry when it made its deliveries. The sugar police would try to ban this now, though.

It seems so straightforward no one realised you even needed a “plan”. Over thought (for once), over planned, over tecched – fancy vending machines.

Plus, everyone also has a recycling bin for containers, so why was this needed anyway? Are you saying these recycling bins aren’t getting recycled? How? Why dat?

I think Lorna Slater has overstayed her visa, by a considerable margin and we should find a safe third country to deport her to, in case she is attacked by Grizzlies in her native Canada, thinking her a long plank of wood, and to rub themselves on her. We should move fast in case she gets herself knocked up to provide an “anchor baby”. The litte homunculus gremlin fathered by kind donation from Harvie, and christened “Lovelock Greta Net Zero Save the Planet Exterminate the Working Classes Bellamy Davos Greenhouse Gas Slater Harvie Sleater Kinney E Smith, the third”, the child being born a trans and its pronouns revealed by ultrasound.

Ferries too – my friend a watersports enthusiast (no giggling at the back, there – disgusting) told me in one of those “did you know … ” verbal gambits : for the cost of the pished up dosh for these ferries, scotgov could have bought every single islander in the western isles, a top quality jetski, capable of 10mpg cruising at 30mph and even getting to over 50mph. Fuck Calmac, let’s do Baywatch.

Brecht? – someone should rework the famous song to become “Nick the Knife”

Aye, one of the best ferry designers in the world, who happens to be a Scot, has offered to replace all CalMac’s 31 ferries for the same price as the two CMAL white elephants still sitting at Port Glasgow – £400m and counting. But ScoTGov officials and RMT decided to stick with what they know, buying even more poorly designed monohulls offering over-manned crews a great all-day menu and cruising style they have become used to. Humza even got to shake hands with the supplier, that nice Mr. er dougan.

I rather think that Mr Flynn’s remark may be the most truthful SNP statement in years: they’ve lost faith in us.

How dare we the public have the temerity to not vote for them after years of being gas-lit on IndyRef2. We’re just as bad as all those disgusting people who for years tried to point out that this would happen and where thing were going wrong and took brick-bats galore for it.

It doesn’t matter that there was no policy, no strategy, no will to deliver. All that matters is that the cabal and its henchmen could behave as they liked and lord it over the rest of us.

We’re to blame for where things are now… and we all just need to fall back into line to fix it. Just whet for Indy. Is that a Ford Modeo I see before me….

You’ll really need to stop reminding me, Professor Baird. I’m an elderly duffer with high BP and a couple of other medical issues !
Every time I recall that the SNP devolved administration could have had both your goodwill & input plus the wholehearted business acumen and proven ability of your friend just for the asking I’m near heading for a coronary.
If no other demonstration had been needed to demonstrate what a pack of knavish dunderheids held sway from 2014, this ongoing debacle alone would suffice.
