Three days ago, the Daily Record’s political editor and Kezia Dugdale’s chief media cheerleader Davie Clegg tweeted that Scottish Labour had “expressed full support and solidarity” for their former branch manager in her court battle with this website.
It seems fair to say that the tweet hasn’t aged well.
Perhaps “solidarity” – like “fairness”, “equality” and “justice” – is one of those words that just means something different if you’re in Scottish Labour.
Now thats what you call a civil War…
This is a divide that could have been avoided when Corbyn first took over the leadership. I said back then that his first act as leader should have been a night of the long knives where he cleared out the New Labour rubbish and replaced them with those who believe in social democracy but he didn’t. Maybe its because there wasn’t enough of them to replace the New Labour rubbish.
Mind you Leonard isn’t a social democrat neither is Finlay so im not really sure where the divide lines are.
And even if Labour in Scotland did adopt social democracy as their founding principles how would that enable them to oppose the Socially Democratic Scottish Government? They would have to vote with them on nearly every issue. Lolz. Not seeing that as a future event in the Scottish Parliamnt any time soon.

This sort of stuff strengthens the desire to see all the UK unionist political junk thrown in the incinerator. The UK is a sinking ship, its fundament gazing ‘politics’ is a reflection of that.
The Republic of Macedonia is voting today on a name change to facilitate its membership of the EU and other international organizations. Population less than Strathclyde region.

I wish this drama queen would just flounce off the political stage for good or go join the LibDems with her pal Cole-Hamilton. Doesn’t she realise she is being used in the Blairites fight against Corbyn? I almost feel sorry for her and then I remember her lying duplicitous face denying her conversations with the FM and then urging people to vote Tory to stop the SNP.
The SLabbers should dip into their own deep pockets if they want to help her – Anas Sarwar is a good Socialist millionaire.
Corbyn and co must be regretting giving her the time of day. She is a disaster for the Labour Party.
Labour spent a fortune fighting a case in equal pay in Glasgow. The SNP council then had the unsavoury task of pro forma fighting a case in order to lose it so that should they somehow lose control of the council there’d be a legal obligation to pay up. Not only that but it would pay to rest any accusations of being cavalier with other people’s money.
So it seems Labour have finally seen the light in Dugdale’s case. All we’re waiting is a letter sent to Dugdale’s lawyers from someone within Labour with the authority to make an unlimited financial commitment come Monday when their office opens.
To me despite Dugdale’s offence being in a private capacity Labour should have looked into it with an honest mind as to whether she could win of not. They should have honestly advised her to apologise even if said apology consisted of clarifying that in her opinion she thought the joke sounded homophobic.
More to the point the Daily Record should’ve been her first port of call. Perhaps she didn’t like their advice?
In either case neither Labour or DR should be signing a blank cheque. However given what happened in Glasgow it’s at least credible someone in Labour did.
I can’t remember, did anything happen over her attempt at abusing parliamentary privilige?
Scottish Labour the end is near for that English party.
Scotland will be a much healthier place without all those dodgy folk.
The whole lot of them owe Scotland an apology for the terrible damage they have done to Scotland and its people.

Quite the pickle for them. Given their treatment of the independence movement over the past few years? My sympathy is hovering somewhere around zero.
They brought a lot of pain, anguish and intimidation to a lot of people. Their current woes are self inflicted, entirely earned and were utterly avoidable.
They treated the vote of Scotland’s population as somehow their property. They treated Scotland as their fiefdom. That was their first and worst misjudgement. Since losing one and being disabused of the other? They’ve reacted toward the electorate with insult, rage, intimidation and political practises that make Game of Thrones look like a comedy. Their behaviour toward the people they owe their living to has been nothing short of appalling.
True enough that trust can take a lifetime to earn and next to no time to lose.

The two main parties in the UK are tearing themselves apart over their own internal politics, and we are supposed to believe that it is the SNP who are having a civil war.
Personally, I think the SNP are having a laugh. By a long, long way, they are the only party in this wonderful UK of ours which has proven itself to be competent. The rest are just a shower of chancers who surely will be found out soon. Even the EU feels so sorry for them that they are trying to help them out of the hole they have dug for themselves.

The perfect antidote to any political strife and division is to come out onto the streets of Edinburgh and march in support of Scotland’s independence on the 6th of October. All of us together visibly demonstrating the power of democratic expression- the brilliantly simple ideological solution to Scotland taking its rightful place on the world stage.

@ winifred mccartney – I agree. It raises the question of what constitutes public space. If we are paying for it then we should be able to use it. We are not proposing to hold a meeting in someone’s private garden.

I’m sure the money has played a huge part in their decision to withdraw support but also they surely don’t want to be associated with Dugdale and her woolly and ill-judged crusade.
I get the impression she may have been egged on by the sycophants and hangers-on in her circle, probably the same ones who encouraged her to be the leader. She appears to be piss poor on facts and the small details of a written assurance of what would be covered and by whose authority.
As you say though Stu this is no assurance that you will win but her lack of diligence in this area must make her legal team anxious about her being cross-examined on other stuff.

I also downloaded their HES strategy document. I haven’t read it yet but would be surprised if it said that no political activities can be held in any of the properties which they manage. That would conflict with “embracing change” I would say.

Funny how a few weeks back the msm tried to fabricate a spilt and civil war in the SNP. It was, of course, complete fakery.

Not the least wonderful result of Kez’s refusal to withdraw and apologise for the “homophobic” silliness is that the original reference to Oliver Mundell’s oratorical shortcomings is getting multiple, repeated exposure across numerous media platforms, all free of charge. The incidental confirmation that Labour is an ongoing, comprehensive, catastrophic SNAFU is just a bonus.

The anger from Labour supporters on Twitter is real. How dare Kezia expect ordinary, low-paid supporters to foot her libel bill via their hard-earned subscriptions etc etc. The troops aren’t happy. Leonard’s under siege, Kezia’s stamping around furiously and I bet Sarwar is rubbing his hands with anticipation.
And to think that Kezia could have stopped all this from happening with a simple apology and a charity donation. It’s not as if Stu didn’t give her ample chance to save herself.
That whirlwind sure is being reaped big time.
