The new national anthem

Posted on June 30, 2016 by

Boris Johnson is NOT standing for Prime Minister.

Sup up your beer and collect your fags
There’s a row going on down near Slough
Get out your mat and pray to the West
I’ll get out mine and pray for myself

Thought you were smart when you took them on
But you didn’t take a peep in their artillery room
All that rugby puts hairs on your chest
What chance have you got against a tie and a crest?

Hello! Hurray! What a nice day for the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles
Hello! Hurray! I hope rain stops play for the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles

Thought you were clever when you lit the fuse
Tore down the House Of Commons in your brand new shoes
Composed a revolutionary symphony
Then went to bed with a charming young thing

Hello! Hurray! Cheers then, mate, it’s the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles
Hello! Hurray! An extremist scrape with the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles

What a catalyst you turned out to be
Loaded the guns, then you run off home for your tea
Left me standing like a guilty schoolboy

What a catalyst you turned out to be
Loaded the guns, then you run off home for your tea
Left me standing like a naughty schoolboy

We came out of it naturally the worst
Beaten and bloody, and I was sick down my shirt
We were no match for their untamed wit
Though some of the lads said they’d be back next week

Hello! Hurray! It’s the price to pay to the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles
Hello! Hurray! I’d prefer the plague to the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles

Hello! Hurray! It’s the price to pay to the Eton Rifles, Eton Rifles

At least he wasn’t that daft.

He knew who the anointed one was. Probably attended the ceremony.

With all the lies told by the leave campaign do you think Bojo saw the writing on the wall.

And decided to bail out because he knew he could never deliver what he promised to the people of England?

Michael McCabe

Gove versus May Gove Edinburgh born the next Prime Minister of the UK. How evel is that. Aye till I die.

Andrew Morton

Interviewed by Brian Taylor after First Minister’s Questions, The Scottish Daily Mail’s Scottish editor, Alan Roden, said,

“The Union is in peril and it’s the Conservative Party which has put it there”.

He also said that he expects a second independence referendum to take place.

I say :

Yes.

Elizabeth Cameron

It’s not really surprising that Boris doesn’t want to be PM now.

He didn’t expect to win, doesn’t have a plan and doesn’t want the onerous job of sorting the country out.

Kenny

I always think Theresa May is what you would get if you crossed Annabel Goldie with Pol Pot…

Gawsh! All this Bullingdon Boys One-Up-Man-Ship is eye-watering. Bojo set everyone up for a fall – and now he’s stepping back until the fetid quagmire he helped to create stops steaming.
What are the bets he’ll return after EU negotiations that complete England’s journey back into Dickensian conditions?

Yes, what a shocker – was the DM editor having a temporary senior moment?

I did think the FM was on fire today, the way she reduced the Tories to dust. Bring on more, except it was the final FMQs – but what a great way to go!!

Bob Mack

Sickening. Whatever you think about Corbyn the man is trying to sort out Labour.

The Eton boys wreck for political gain and run off rather than face the consequences they know is coming.

Meanwhile Nicola is running around with her team trying to collate sense where sense exists at the moment ,and paving the way to protect Scotland from the misery which is lurking over the brow of the next hill.
I cannot believe people out there still think this is all going to have a happy outcome for the UK.. It is beyond fiction.

gus1940

Balloon (Boris) bursts.

It’s a bit reminiscent of that guy, whose name I forget, in the Monty Python film who explodes.

As Boris was born in The US he is eligible to stand for President.

Perhaps he will be packing his bags soon and setting off to be the 2020 election equivalent of Trump.

It’s not even too late for The Republicans to sign him up before The Convention as an alternative to Trump.

Luigi

Boris eh, what can we say? A complete abdication of responsibility. Is this a rare show of humility or is the genius clown playing a long game here? Time will tell.

It looks likely that Teresa May will be the next PM. She is one nasty tory (a daughter of Thatcher if ever there was one) – remember the “Go home” anti-immigrant vans? I was really surprised that she never came out for LEAVE, but perhaps she was playing a game also. 🙁

Bill Hume

Shit, I can’t contain myself any longer. This just keeps getting better and better. Absolute chaos and Nicola is the only one talking sense.

One_Scot

It’s getting so that you can’t cut the grass without coming back and being two weeks behind the curve.

Valerie

Boris steps away from his jolly jape, that went wrong.

It’s helpful for us here, as any staunch unionist has to ask themselves why that would be, as the lies unfold. It helps us, as we ask why would the architect of ‘taking back control’ slink off when he won.

It’s great news for the 5 candidates, because they can blame him for the lies.

The candidates do actually start to make Cameron look liberal. They are hard right wingers, who would happily oversee work houses.

Hoho, an economist on Sky just said Gove is Scottish, so he can unite the Kingdom.

Effijy

Well spotted Rev.
The lyrics to the Jam’s hit of the late 70’s is ever so apt.

PS Was it Mrs May who was tasked with looking after UK Borders and keeping the immigration figures in the 10’s of Thousands?

If I recall they had massive job losses in that Dept while their work load grew exponentially.

Also got the feeling that a major player in the Dept was made a scapegoat to saver her embarrassment?

Well no, not embarrassment, Tories don’t get embarrassed,
they get found out and then run for Prime Minister.

Liam Fox is another found using Tax payer’s money to fund
foreign exchange trips on behalf of his very wealthy friend in manufacturing.

Wonder id anything was manufactured for him?

If Carlsberg made Corrupt Parliaments, they would have probably made Westminster!

This pauper crashes the Eton party:

From the WOS Twitter:
The Joseph Rowntree Foundation reporting that in 2015 there were 13.5m people in the UK in poverty – same amount as the population of the UK’s 14 largest cities combined.

Perhaps someone should inform The JRF that there would not be as much poverty if they stopped supplying Liberal liars with endless amounts of financial support and invested the money instead into fighting poverty projects.

That figure The JRF quotes (13.5m) is, as we know, well over twice the population of Scotland and over 4 times that of Wales.

Yes, we sure are better together, eh!
(sarcasm btw)

You have 2 choices on how to get rid of your Eton types:
(1): Blow the place up but i think the police and Courts would have something serious to say about that.
(2): Simply support, vote and fight for Scottish independence.

yesindyref2

This is kind of going back to that OT discussion yesterday about nuts and bolts, with England and Wales discarding the metric system and now the Tory party deciding which type of nut to use for the still metric bolts to sort out their cross-threading problem, to keep the show on the road.

So that’s one nut discarded already. Backbenchers have been seen buying up blu tack and duck tape, and digging out that old pair of nylons and bag of sawdust.

Sassenach

Valerie says: “Hoho, an economist on Sky just said Gove is Scottish, so he can unite the Kingdom.”

Robert Louis

So, let me get this right, Bojo the English clown, fought tooth and nail, told lies, and generally deceived people to get the UK out of the EU. Now, when he has the chance to put up or shut up, he runs away like a two faced lying coward of the sh*ttiest low-life kind ever seen.

Honestly the day of the result, I suggested that within a few months he would be run out of London, but I didn’t expect him to volunteer within days.

This is the Tories. Privileged, over indulged rich upper class Etonian w*nks, who think it a ‘jolly good wheeze’ to play games with peoples jobs, and the future of Scotland, England N.Ireland and Wales.

Boris the coward. Yellow to the core.

Boris should be placed in stocks in Trafalgar square and, when Big Ben chimes, publicly horse-whipped, every hour, on the hour. The untold damage that fool of a man has now done, it is the very least he deserves.

Now, we will soon have a Prime Minister NOBODY elected. If that were done by Putin in Russia, they would all cry foul, but apparently if it happens in London, it’s ‘jolly well ok, old chap’.

What a pathetic joke Westminster is. What an utter, utter, utter joke. Scotland cannot get out of this cursed, undemocratic, destructive union with England soon enough.

I think the Tories will go for the ghastly Theresa May: they like a strict nursie-type to spank them soundly and give them a dose of bromine.

When the English economy tanks after Brexit I hope its people remember that Boris and his hubris caused it all.

He really is a despicable chancer.

Ken500

Davidson and Brown are to ignorant to realise the £50Billion in exports going to England include £Billions of exports going overseas through London Tilbury Docks because of Thatcher’s centralised transport policies. Leading to congestion in London S/E which slows the economy and transport.

Thatcher used Scottish Oil revenues to build 26 miles of Tilbury Docks, Heathrow and Canary Wharf. There are other routes There are also £Billions in exports going from Scottish Ports and airports.

If England/Wales do not buy Scottish goods and exports. The cost of goods, services and fuel in England/Wales will increase (higher transport costs etc) or there could be shortages in England/Wales. Costs of goods, services and fuel (imports) in England and Wales are already going to go up because the £ is going to tank. A double whammy.

Davidson and Brown conveniently don’t balance up the account by the £Billions in investment coming into Scotland from the EU and European banks. Neither of them can count or read a balance sheet. Both their Parties have tanked the economy. Clueless. Twa dunces, no wonder no one votes for them.

Join the Euro if there can be any agreement for trade, business and prosperity. To cut costs and red tape for business. Cut unnecessary exchange costs.

I’d say May is a certainty. Curious, she was a Remainer wasn’t she? Soon she’ll have two sets of 20 foot high borders and barbed wire to build, anyone who’s got money should invest accordingly. England and Wales have a large coastline.

@Bpb Mack
It’ll be interesting to see how the property market in Scotland goes, and whether banks lend. Could be some very good investments, as banks, finance houses, anything in the financial sector “hedges” its bets on Scotland in the EU.

Figures of Fun, or on occasion, figures of infamy, have been given names to describe their outlook or demeanour.

I greatly enjoy the names apportioned to those dedicated to maintaining Scotland’s meaningless class within the UK.

My favourite names include:

1, Ruth Davidson -Fat Boab or Wee Jimmy Krankie.

2, Kezia Dugdale- Dipity Dug.

3, Jackie Baillie -Jabba the Hutt.

4, George Osborne- Gideon Bean,

5, Johann Lamont- Bride of Chucky.

6, Michael Gove- Uriah Gove.

7, Angela Eagle- Eddie the Eagle.

8, Gordon Brown- Klunker Brown Gravy Train.

9, Alistair Darling- Badger or Flipper Darling,

10, Jim Murphy- Fundimundilly, or Dim Jim.

Any other good ones that I’ve missed? lol

May was totally rubbish on Borders. She was useless. More came in then went out. They were open. The Stats were totally wrong. The Staff was cut then she made the heidbanger resigned in disgust at her incompetence, and called her out. The borders will damage the English/Wales economy. She was definitely a lying Leave. Expect open borders.

Yeah, Bojo the clown wasn’t slow on picking up the general drift and that’s for sure.

How and ever, if I hear one more Tory uttering ‘one nation’ conservatism, ‘the country’ must come together and get behind the brexit decision. Its time to move on and heal wounds…etc, etc boak!!

My COUNTRY (that being Scotland), did not vote for an EU exit. My COUNTRY was guaranteed that only by voting NO in its own referendum could the electorate ensure continued EU membership as part of the greatest family of nations in the multiverse, the UK.

The government of My COUNTRY has spent nearly two f**king years swallowing an endless stream of media abuse whilst carrying out the wishes of its electorate and trying to first amend then implement the most shambolic, watered down and anti democratic devolution settlement NEVER promised.

My COUNTRY was promised many things during its own referendum. It was promised a devolution journey (where ‘nothing was off the table’), which would result in the nearest settlement possible to a full fat federalism. It was promised broad shoulders in times of economic hardship. It was promised job security. It was promised stable pensions. It was promised written permanent recognition of its parliament which would be enshrined in law. It was promised a new respect agenda where it could help lead the UKs politics going forward.

What we got instead?

Brexit UK. A state where if you’re not the right sort you’re not welcome apparently.

What kind of country do you want to live in?

I have it on fairly good authority that when Boris was Mayor of London he was incapable of making decisions and the decisions were made by his support staff.

It is doubtful that he was ever intended to be a replacement for Cameron and that the doing by Gove (leaked E Mail) was always intended.

He was, however, a useful plausible front for the Leave Campaign and his reward will probably be elevation to the House of Lords.

Boris couldn’t win anyway. Conservatives on the Remain side won’t forgive him for what he did, and those on the Leave side now know he didn’t mean it anyway. So they can’t trust him to deliver. Why run if no one will vote for you? Boris is nobody’s hero now, and he knows he won’t win?

I hope he is politically finished for ever – he certainly deserves to be. Exit Boris!

On another point, if post-independence Scottish goods are exported directly from Scotland, bypassing the detour through London, won’t this create many new jobs? What would this do for air freight from a revitalised Prestwick Airport, showing the Scottish Government’s wisdom in buying it and trying to keep it going?

And what would it do for the Clyde Estuary? After Trident has gone, there will surely be plenty of other, more peaceful ways of providing employment and making a living on our shores.

Finally, Candidate Crabb said that nobody – not a single person – in the whole country believes a single word anyone at Westminster ever says. So why should anyone vote for any of them?

But Crabb is wrong. He ought to have remembered that plenty of people tend to believe what SNP MPs say. That must be some dastardly cunning trick – how do these SNP MPs do it?

Simply by telling the truth. Which seems to be an idea th rest of them have never heard of. Good policy, telling the truth.

Yes to Prestwick, Fedex might move back from Stanstead, or at least run a separate operation. Leith Docks would need to get rid of museum pieces, and what the fate of Southampton would be, who knows? Very large container hub at Hunterston seems a whole load more likely, with transhipping to smaller containers for going through the Channel or Pentland Firth.

Sad to say in some ways, Brexit for England and Wales would make EU bound or origin freight and shipping to and from Scotland even more viable – and neccessary.

Scottish independence is not going to happen for a very long time. The shenanigans between the media and the British Establishment in recent days will ensure that Scotland is kept shackled to the UK.
Nicola Sturgeon is insisting on independence for Scotland in Europe but failed to EXPLICITLY include an independence referendum in the SNP manifesto for the Holyrood election. I mentioned this at the time and was called a f**king idiot by the Rev. Result, SNP lost their majority and now since the EUref, the SNP are banging on again about independence, knowing full well that they do not need to deliver and indeed cannot deliver it. Nicola Sturgeon has been visiting Brussels and making pronouncements that raise the hopes of all who yearn for Scottish independence but produce what she knew they would, absolutely nothing.

The next Scottish referendum is asking staying in EU as an independent country, or stay in UK under a Tory Armageddon.

This is SURVIVAL.

That comment plays into my own personal conspiracy theory.

The finances of this country are so fcked, commentators outside MSM called us the next Greece.

Brexit is a brilliant name to call your financial bankruptcy, as you wring your hands, and nobly carry on doing your best, cancelling projects, and printing money.

UK has arrogantly blamed the EU for everything for 40 years, aided by the media. Ready made scapegoat.

I think it’s quite telling there are 5 Tory candidates for PM. One explanation is they are monumentally stupid, or that this was a possibility/opportunity.

I’ve lost weight since last week, lost sleep etc. In short, shell shocked.

They show none of that, even though I know they are jackals.

@T222Deracha says: 30 June, 2016 at 6:19 pm:

” … Keep being deluded by the professional politicians in the SNP.”

You just have not been paying attention, T222Deracha, now have you?

There has always been, on this forum, a strong theme of providing hard evidence, or at very least logical argument, in support of any points being made.

Not only by Rev Stu himself but by the YES supporting commenters. On the other hand there has also always been a thread of baseless and unsupported claims from those supporting the United Kingdom .

You are no exception to that trend. You may claim anything you wish but no one in their right mind is going to believe anything you claim if you neither back the claims you make with evidence or logical argument.

Now put up that evidence, state your reasoning or shut up.
There’s a good chap, chapess or indeterminate person, (choose whatever gender is applicable).

I accent the term, “Kingdom”, to highlight the actual legal status of the United Kingdom. It is in fact not a unified country and it never legally has been.

The signatories to the Treaty that gave it birth were without doubt only the Kingdom, and unitary country, of Scotland and the three country Kingdom of England.

Not only that but factually the only two signatory kingdoms were equally sovereign kingdoms with one very important difference between the two.

The three country English Kingdom was, and still is, a Constitutional Monarchy while in the Scottish Kingdom the people, not the monarchy, were, and still are, legally sovereign.

This is why the Treaty of Union had to agree that the two legal systems were incompatible and would remain independent of each other.

Now correct me if I’m wrong, (Yet I suspect you will attempt to correct me when I’m correct), but that means if the sovereign people of Scotland decide by a majority to withdraw from the bi-partite United Kingdom’s parliament, (and may even decide to retain the actual Royal Realm), they have every legal right under Scottish, English and EU laws to do so.

Now here’s just some of the evidence to back up my contentions. There is not a single mention of the terms, “country”, or, “countries”, in the entire Treaty of Union that formed the United Kingdom.

Thus, if either partner kingdom in a bi-partite union of kingdoms decides to end the union then the Status Quo Ante results in BOTH partner kingdoms reverting to being independent kingdoms and, as the member state of the EU is a United Kingdom that no longer exists it is up to the other member states of the EU to decide if either kingdom remains as the successor member state.

Trouble is that as the UK is then defunct and the English part of it voted to leave but the Scottish part voted to remain the legal result is the end of the United Kingdom, (a united kingdom with only one kingdom is not possible), and the English Kingdom’s peoples are subjects of the Monarch and, in a Constitutional Monarchy, the monarch’s sovereignty is delegated to the parliament which has just agreed to leave the EU.

Can we now have your evidence that I’m wrong and you are correct? (or will that take the same long time as your claim that Scottish independence is not imminent?

Smallaxe

Deracha, Does anybody else remember the Sprite that Superman could only get rid of by saying it’s name backwards?

I’m with you Shiregirl. What Craig Murray says is pretty chilling, but somehow I feel better for being much better informed.

This business with Corbyn was bizarre. He meant nothing to me, got himself elected leader, then the confusion started with his vilification. Was he being vilified for something he’d done? Or something he was going to do? It registered as something that didn’t make any sense, but still meant nothing to me. Couldn’t care less about Labour.

But something rotten is at the heart of it. For a shadow cabinet to walk out in the manner it did, under the white heat of Brexit, was simply bizarre beyond belief. Kinda gives you the heebee geebees.

If what Craig Murray suggests is indeed the real truth, then Corbyn seems a bit of a legend. My one fear now is that when such pressure can be brought to bear publicly on a man of such high profile, what last minute shenanigans might be going on with the Chilcott Report itself.

How can I put it… Corbyn and Chilcott is the political thriller I really want to read all about, but right now I’m half way through the SNP Independence Bestseller and its getting to the stage where you just can’t put it down.

Meantime, watch whilst they try their best to shut up Corbyn. He knows what questions to ask when the time for Chilcot arrives and they are aware of this.

Interesting times. I take my hat off to him.

T222Deracha

@Robert Peffers

Getting to the bit where the union ends appears to be the difficult part. I’m afraid all your argument is academic since the powers that really matter, choose to do as they please with Scotland. I am expressing an opinion and it is as valid as yours or anyone else’s. If you find that tiresome, well no political group has a monopoly on banjo players. Jog on!
