And so Smith Commission farce only gives Britnats and unionjocks, furious Slab all they need to beat Scotland to a pulp with and its all down to far right henchman, like this git, from Kent

    eg.

“FFA was once known as “devo-max” but I’m glad that phrase has fallen out of favour, for FFA is no scheme of devolution at all. It is a form of independence-lite. It would destroy the Union as we know it. It would mean an end to the pooling and sharing of risks and resources upon which the Union is based. And it would mean an effective reversal of last year’s referendum result.”

Isn’t “devo-max” what shysters like Cammers, Milliband, Gordon Gordon, Daily Record all begged and pleaded vote NO at Scotland for?

Shiregirl I’m watching it too and heard some Welsh guy point that out to them …. EVEL deemed to be so important to the English people and yet there is only a handful of their representatives there. Wonder what their constituents would make of that?

Is this is how that place has always been run? Tory and Labour politicians off doing their shopping, lolling in the sun / bars and then grudgingly making their way back in to vote. Money for bl**dy nothing!

The SNP MPs are making mincemeat of their arguments. Their (Tory) argument being that if they keep repeating often enough that the Scots have ‘everything devolved to them and that the English have no say on that’ we’ll all begin to believe it. I’m afraid I wouldn’t last for 5 minutes in that place and have no idea how Alex Salmond and others who numbered around 6 at one time could put up with it.

I’m trying to figure out what’s actually going on with the Tories? Some seem to be totally convinced by their own guff. Can they really not see that we are being subjected to English Votes for Scottish Laws and this has been the case for over 300 years now? Are they really so naive, so lacking in empathy?

I said it at the time and I’ll say it again. Cameron speaks the English Language like a native. A native of Finland. He claims the United Kingdom is four nations in one country but he is technically wrong on several levels.

The United Kingdom is, as it’s title correctly describes it, a single KINGDOM formed by a bipartite union between two equally sovereign, (formerly independent), Kingdom’s. One of which composed of three countries in 1706/7 when the pair signed the Treaty of Union.

Furthermore, it is now, (temporarily) one hopes, a “State”, that contains four countries, NOT as Doppy Dave would have it, “Four states in one country”. He can claim it is so till his tongue drops out but the United Kingdom remains a Kingdom and its parliament may loosely be described as a state but it has never been a country and it never will be a country.

Wulls, There was a recent update for Adobe Flash Player, (a safe one), and before that there was a problem that had a false reminder to update the flash player that loaded a particularly nasty Trojan instead of the Flash Player.

If you copped it then you need to remove the existing flash player, do a virus scan, (and perhaps also an anti-Spyware scan), then download and install the latest, (good version), flash player.

A symptom of that Trojan was random ads playing even when you were not using the flash player.

“Is this is how that place has always been run? Tory and Labour politicians off doing their shopping, lolling in the sun / bars and then grudgingly making their way back in to vote. Money for bl**dy nothing!”

Yes Petra, that’s the norm. You may not be aware of this but throughout the Commons they are all within hearing of the Division bell. When a vote is called those bells ring and they all scurry to the division lobby. (By the way there isn’t enough room in the debating chamber to give every member a place, (even with standing room).

At the division the party whips also go round whipping their party members out of offices, eateries and water hole, gyms, et al. Then the whips tell their party members whether to vote Aye or No. They don’t even need to know what they are voting for, (and anyway they have a list of what business is to go to a vote).

Then we have the practice of pairing. In this a Government member will pair with an opposition member so that a whole load of members are paired off so that with one of each, government a and opposition, it makes no difference to the result as both can avoid the division vote.

Which is another fact that many poster here were ignorant of and thus were moaning that with only 60 odd Members the SNP were hogtied. The point is that if the SNP do not pair off with either the government or the opposition then they are in a position to hijack either government or opposition when they pair off.

Previous minority governments have seen dying Members brought to the vote by ambulance as the party didn’t know if they could win a tight vote.

It is not unknown for a lobby fodder member to make their maiden speech and never open their mouth again in the chamber but to vote in every vote in the entire session. This is known as towing/toeing the party line. (I go for the toeing version as it was originally a bare knuckle boxing term. They drew a line in the sand and the boxer who first failed to toe the line for the next round was the loser of the bout).
