Wings Over Scotland

Empty hands and empty heads

Posted on April 09, 2025 by

Now, readers, we won’t pretend to you that our expectations were high.

But you may nevertheless wish to steel yourselves before you hear the “offer”.

You have to wait a while for it if you read the article. The first 800 words are all padding and waffle: Westminster is bad, Nigel Farage is bad, Labour are bad, the Tories are bad, Brexit is bad, yada yada yada. All of which, we’re sure, will come as shocking revelations to the few remaining readers of The National.

But unable to stall any longer, she eventually delivers her pledge.

We must assume that by “the original anti-establishment group” she means the SNP, a party which has been in uninterrupted government in Scotland for almost 18 years and which current polling suggests will remain in power until at least 2031, taking that number up to 24 years.

Most of the “young people” Adam is calling upon to “rebel” in some unspecified way have never known any other Scottish Government than the SNP. It’s a bit like telling Chinese kids to rebel by joining the Communist Party, and to “break the cycle [and] flip the script” by voting to keep everything the same way it’s been their whole lives.

Extra-amusingly, Adam claims that independence is “the way to stop asking for permission”, speaking as a representative of a party whose sole strategy for achieving independence is to repeatedly and unsuccessfully ask Westminster for permission, interrupted only by unsuccessfully asking the Supreme Court for permission.

Adam, pictured below sexually harassing a male employee in a manner that would unquestionably result in sacking and probably arrest and prosecution if the sexes of the people in the picture were reversed, tells people to “flood the system” (with what, exactly?) and “stop letting snake oil merchants dominate the feed”, yet she herself ran away from social media years ago because she couldn’t handle people challenging her support for online abusers (including the man in the picture) and sex offenders.

But on the evidence of this article nobody’s missing out on very much as a result, unless they have a keen algorithmic interest in AI-generated clichéd student rhetoric.

Her entire manifesto and strategy for “rebellion” appear to amount to “Let’s be louder [and] raise the volume”, without specifying what people are meant to raise the volume OF, and to “use, channel, shape and share your anger” without any clue as to where it should be channelled, what it should be shaped into and who it should be shared with.

Presumably, though, she means only people who already agree with you, since before leaving Twitter Adam had blocked pretty much anyone who questioned her in any way, and tried to have opposing voices kicked off the platform.

Which is an odd way to “invite people in”. (Assuming anyone actually wants to be invited into a room where some ranting loony is punching all the ceilings out. It sounds quite dangerous, frankly.)

(She does now have an account on paedophile-friendly echo-chamber Bluesky, where she’s made just 30 posts in five months, most of which channel and shape her angry anti-establishment rebellion into the form of slideshows of her getting her photo taken.)

We hope you can forgive the lack of activity on Wings in recent weeks, readers. The independence movement and Scottish politics in general are both hopelessly moribund and, unlike Karen Adam, we don’t believe in making noise when we have nothing to say, just so that it’ll look vaguely like we’re doing something. Voters don’t enjoy having meaningless slogans bellowed at them by vacuous honking foghorns and it rarely achieves anything productive. Indeed, the reverse is usually true.

We’ll be here if and when anything happens. Until such times, enjoy the sunshine.

To be fair to the unfortunately named Karen, many of the regular posters on here are still behaving as if supporting Indy is a terrifyingly risky, rebellious, anti-establishment act of heroic resistance that could see them spending 10 years breaking stones in a gulag.

What with their ludicrous “nom de guerres” that one of the regulars was posting about just this morning.

    nom de guerre: noun

an assumed name under which a person engages in combat.

All Governments get a degree of discretion as to how they spend their revenue, but if electioneering FOR your party is verboten, why isn’t electioneering AGAINST your opponents similarly illegal?

Across Europe we see the Permanent State apply its resources in highly questionable ways. In Germany, the Permanent State seeks to exclude Alternative für Deutschland on the right and Sozialistische Gleichheitspartei on the left from the democratic process. And don’t get me started on Romania.

Never mind. Swinney’s legendary sure footedness will likely see his efforts backfire. You can’t attack RefUK as being a threat to the establishment, it’s their core pitch to the punters. Has the British establishment learned nothing from the rise of MAGA? Apparently not.

Shades of Sturgeon “saving Britain from Brexit”? Perhaps. The SNP are a British establishment party.

In which case, can you be the central organiser and get the 2026 election treated as the same kind of important event as the referendum? Get all the people/groups who helped the WBB plus all other groups – I4I, ISP, Alba, SSP, SSRG, RSS, NSP, Independence Forum, National Yes Registry – and make it happen so that the 2026 Holyrood election returns a group of MSPs who really reflect the desire for independence.

The Brechin event sounds to be a good start at what is needed. I do wonder however what form the SNP representation will take – John Swinney and other high heid yins? It needs to be people who are in a position to make the SNP co-operate in a united approach to the 2026 election.

I’m no spring chicken, but, boy am I f*****g angry, raging. It’s women like Ms Adam who make me want to puke. Sell-outs. These so-called feminists don’t even know what a woman is – or, rather, they do, but prefer the male variety. Second wave feminism was about pushing the boundaries and limitations placed upon female people, not encouraging male people to take everything away from us. It was about true liberation, not kow-towing to incels and PDfiles, autogynephiles and fetishists and encouraging youngsters to destroy their bodies.

I once thought that having female people in positions of power might change things for the better for majority of our sex, but the opposite has happened, and too many stupid, simpering, slavering, useless women are in positions of power and who are about as effective as chocolate fireguards.

Likewise, independence meant doing everything in your power to achieve it, whether you were male or female, not dilly-dally and shilly-shally, create diversions and derail until every opportunity was lost. Go to hell, Karen Adam. You and the rest of your disgusting cabal have sold us out, independistas and females, for a mess of pottage.

No independence for Scots and no liberty for females. Frauds to a man and woman. The rebellion I want to see is the SNP driven into the dust. Did I forget the working-class? Yes, you have betrayed them, too, with your middle-class jargon and gender ordure, and your betrayal of them by failing to not only not deliver independence, but not even to try. Of course, there’s another aspect to the many-headed hydra that is the driving of women and girls into the status of second-class citizens.

It’s preparing the ground for the spread of the religion that holds women’s second-class status to be self-evident. And it’s cementing the support of those numerous believers who already can affect the government we get at WM.

Think I’m exaggerating? Check out Jess Phillips’ speech in the HoC yesterday. A master class in the political art of choosing a good day to bury bad news.

And no, this Labour two-tier justice government will not be holding any further meaningful investigations into the ongoing racially motivated abuse and rape of vulnerable, under-age, indigenous British girls.

      • Lorn says:

Hi Hatey: I think what we are actually witnessing is the convergence of several different ‘woke’ threads. Witless people will cheer and say it is all about diversity, inclusion and equity when it was actually coming straight out of academia as a social experiment on just how far you can push stupid people before they realize they’ve been had.

This stuff began in academia, gravitated to alert CEOs of the big global industries and, finally, was promoted by a huge global law firm to enable the take-over of the state. The hard left fell for it big time and it has enabled the right to make dollars, dollars, dollars. The internet helped a great deal. Although perversion is scarcely in the keeping of the hard left, with the right just as steeped in it, it has been the hard left that handed the dollars to the right on a plate by pushing the perversion and deviancy.

It has been the coming together of perversion, p**n-led deviancy and instant gratification, especially in the sex stakes that has created the ‘trans’ industry, and industry it is. Women and children are the natural (and real) victims of this stuff, and all the better that stupid, ignorant and simpering women lead the charge under the guise of equality.

The same has happened with independence: we are told that the so-called party of independence is fighting a rear guard action against Westminster imperialism, but, all the time, Holyrood and the SNP have been playing a double game. That there are moles in the SNP goes without saying, just as they are threaded throughout the parties, but this ‘trans’ stuff almost negated their contributions all by itself. ‘White privilege’ did the rest. This is what modern ‘woke’ is: an amalgam of different, pretendy ‘victimhoods’ vying with each other for supremacy.

In such conditions, the only success that can be garnered is that of the establishment of a totalitarian state. It may already be too late to save ‘Scottishness’, or ‘Irishness’ or ‘Englishness’ or ‘Europeanness’. They are all sublimated to playing second fiddle to ‘transness’ and I cannot see an independent Scotland being able to shake off its malign and destructive influence unless it is tackled and defeated before we enter independence, n to after. Totalitarianism and certain religious observance go hand-in-hand.

I absolutely agree that, whether it is extreme Islam or ‘trans’ ideology, the end result for women and children will be exactly the same because the underlying base is entirely masculine-orientated and utterly misogynistic. The only choice will be whether you want to have your body destroyed or your mind, or, conceivably, both, with no choice. The men in frocks will prevail either way because extreme Islam would rather artificial women and girls than homosexuals.

Scotland has indeed become a non country just a backwater exclusively controlled by England and raped of its resources and its industries dismantled. Its car industries, shipbuilding, steel, manufacturing bases, all gone and the disgrace of Grangemouth to be added. By switching on the television you see in stark reality that there is only one country on this island, England. 99% of programing is English culture, history, humour, politics, sport…….. If there is a news item about something affecting the lives and prosperity of people in the UK the reporters visit English factories, pubs, hospitals, football stadiums for public comment. Scotland doesn`t exist. In fact the 10 million people that make up rUK don`t exist.
Scotland doesn`t even have its own television channel able to give a Scottish perspective on international events with programs of Scottish humour, history, culture etc. Its all English by design.
We are saturated by English sport yet despite being part of this inclusive UK i have never seen Scottish football been shown in England. And the recent men`s world curling championship win by Scotland was all but buried by the media but we know that had it been England there would have been wall to wall coverage 24/7.
When you think of Norway, Finland, Denmark ,New Zealand you think of countries and are respected as such by England but such respect is never shown to Scotland. And over the years all this has been allowed to happen by Scottish politicians and by the Scottish people themselves.
