Wishing you all a peaceful Christmas.
Said last thread; wishing all wingers and their families a very Happy Christmas.
It’ll run for a while but we will get there in the end.
Orrabest to OUR those and such as those.
Merry Christmas Stu and all Wingers.
Wishing you all a very happy Christmas.
Take a moment to remember those no longer with us.
“Ye Ken iss, it’s nae aat lang sine fin abidy wurked Christmas Day”
Merry Christmas Stu et all wingers.
Let’s keep on keeping on.
Peace and Goodwill to Scottish Patriots and British Nationalists,
anyone that works for the BBC can GTF.
We seem to have reverted to unscientific beliefs so maybe new Jesus has just as much chance as the last one. Merry xmas though.
Merry Christmas Rev and all WoS followers ???????????
Every Scot must be made aware
Every Scot must be made care
Care enough for his fellow man
and vote for Independence when he can!
I pray my wish it will come true
For this day and our future too.
Peace on earth!
Merry Christmas to you and all your family. With love. Doreen
A Happy Healthy Christmas to you and yours Stu,thanks for all that you do xxx

Low are an acquired taste, & that was beautifully tasty.
Cheers Stuart.
Happy Christmas to all, even the cnuts.
🙂
Been out fighting fires. Not good, total devastation, nothing left alive. 4,000,000 hectares gone since July in NSW and no end in sight. No rain till February and even that is not guaranteed.
Take care all you Wingers and Scottish patriots wherever you live in this world. May the New Year bring us all we wish for.
Love to all.
Merry Xmas to all, especially to T Jenny and of course Conan the ex Librarian, who according to Munguin is poorly.
We met at the first March in Edinburgh, under the Wings banner. Still here and not going away.
Merry Christmas to all yessers and noers (soon to become yessers). And especially to you Stu for all the work you do for the independence movement AND womens rights (I’m with you all the way on that one). You have faced a lot of flack in recent times and I admire your resoluteness in trying to bring honesty back to the table.
Kangaroo @ 4.33am
Don’t be thinkin that we are so wrapped up in our own issues that we don’t worry for you and all those caught up in those dreadful fire’s!
We see you.
We bleed with you.
We hurt with you.
And
We are thinking of ye…. Stay safe my friend and have as nice a time as you can xxxxxx
Happy Christmas Stu.
So many of us still standing by you.
I hope you have a much better new year.
Scotland needs you more than ever.
Happy Christmas Stu, we agree on a lot.
Your voice speaks for those thinkers and movers with sanity, pity Holyrood ao t listen
Merry Christmas to Stu and all true “Wingers” who support Scottish Independance.
Happiest Christmas to you Rev and thanks for introducing me to this song.
Happy and joyful Christmas to all especially Rev Stu and thanks for all your great work.
Merry Christmas Rev and all WoS followers
Our time will come
Merry Christmas Stu. Have a good one.
Merry Christmas to all.
Merry Christmas folks and a massive new year!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all our readers!
Dedicating an average sized “Meh” to all the bahhumbugers oot there.
And for all the ardent crimbo mini-cabbage munching zealots, I trust you’ll have a gas.
Hopefully see y’all on the other side once the air clears…

Peaceful Christmas to all wingers. The New Year will soon follow and with it renewed vigour for the challenge ahead to secure our independence.
In 2020 we have the tools let us use them.
And after 3 days, the New Sun is born again, praise be the Sun of God – and what a beautiful day it is.
Merry Christmas stu and everyone here. Not been commenting here for a while but have been lurking in the background here and twitter. Your work is appreciated Stu and while you seem to have been assailed from all sides you don’t stand alone. Thankyou for your work both for Indy and for raising awareness of the transculters agenda
Not actively contributing much to the btl comments these days but I am watching!
Have a good one folks and here’s to a productive and enjoyable New Year
Merry Xmas everyone. Hope Santa’s been good to you.
Kangaroo – so sorry to hear of the devastation you’re having to cope with. Stay safe. The wilderness will survive. We humans might not though, unless we change. Keep us posted.
Rev Stu, you’ve survived another chaotic year in the political arena, battered but still standing. Thanks for all your work in your unique brand of journalism. Much appreciated.

A merry Christmas to one and all, you might not get everything you want, but I hope you get everything you need.
Merry Xmas to everyone, and to Stu for his year (one of many) of hard work knocking down the unionist lies and propaganda.
Merry Xmas to everyone from the land of peace and quiet. Everything closed till the 27th, breathing space to calm down and walks in the hills. 🙂
2020 will bring lots of change, imposed upon us by colonial masters who care not a jot about the people but the wealth there to be plundered.
Are we at 50% in the polls because of the SNP leadership or in spite of them?
We want our country back and the coming year will be the one that sets the path to independence or into the role of forever cottonpickers.
YES. We want our country back.
When I get impatient to see an independent Scotland, I think of the octogenarians who have been impatient a lot longer than me.
We will get there. And it will be worth it.
A very Merry Christmas to Stu and all readers of Wings.
Special Xmas mumsyhugs to everyone, and especially to those amazing people in our public services who keep us safe and look after us when things go wrong xxx
Merry Christmas to one and all.
Happy Christmas to you Stuart, and Thank you for all your hard work. All the best for 2020
greeting to stu & all the wingsers
gloomy weeks ahead
hopefully by next xmas the horizon will be brighter
cheers
Merry Christmas and a Peaceful and Prosperous New Year to you Stu and all Wingers.
The tide is turning an avid Unionist floored me yesterday saying he had had enough of the Westminster corruption and cover ups and that he would now support Independence. Dance! I could have cried. It was like an Oak tree falling! For.the last 30years has never had a good word for anything but the Westminster Torelite
Merry Christmas to all my friends and foes OT Stu., last night I was allowed on lbc for the first time in months but they cut me of after about 2 mins. I was saying that J Corbyn should stay as it was the media who made labour loss not him and that after accusing him of anti semitism the right wingers are setting up a panel to look into why they lost and chaired by a Jew momentom should set up a panel chaired by an anti Semetic and see the response from the media the lbc host was saying maybe J.C. Should learn some rhetoric from T.,Blair I said that J.,C., told the truth where Blair was a proven liar was he the host suggesting that J.C. Should start doing the same I also pointed out that most people know that lbc is owned by a Jewish company so they pay his wages everything I said was the truth but that is the one thing they cannot win an argument with so I was cut of ps I am not or ever have been a labour supporter but I am a supporter of fair play
Merry Christmas to all Wingers Remember One person can`t help everyone, but everyone can help One person.
Have a good Xmas Stuart and all Wingers.

And I see twitter hasn’t given you back your article on it for Xmas. Bastards.
Surely they can’t ban Stu from Twitter forever. I’m not on Twitter but would follow Stu’s Twitter post from the Wing’s website.
🙁
As they used to sing at Scotland’s fitba games.
We’ll support you ever more.
Happy Christmas to the Rev Stu and all the Wings readers and contributors past and present.
Bestest to all!
Ho ho fuckin ho!

Bugger Le Panda – Joyeux Noël to you and yours, Panda, and good to hear from you again. My, but that march seems a long time ago. I’m always here, mostly lurking, but once a Winger, always a Winger. 🙂

Man sorry to hear of your plight.

TJenny
Very nice of you to say so. Hope you have an enjoyable one yourself.
Ta, CBB.
Merry Christmas to all in Pollockshields.
As some of you will already know i don’t do all this hypocritical greedmas crap but i do celebrate the New Year so here’s hoping for all the very best of health, happiness & good fortune for everyone connected to Scotland’s fight to take back its right of self-determination. And especially none more-so than ‘His Nibs’ here at WOS. A bit marmite but his commitment unquestionable and his contributions immeasurable. Have a good one everybody. 😉
Almost forgot! As for all of those who aim to deny Scotland access to true democratic processes and taking back our right of self-determination – I wish you all nothing but the most miserable, depressing, unfortunate, irritating anus most horribilis & every bit of bad fortune imaginable. May all your bed linens be soaked heavily in urushiol. May misery be upon you all every second of 2020 and beyond.
(BTW, “anus” = is a play on words = deliberate spelling mistake)
Season’s Greetings to all fellow Scots and Europeans.
A special “Merry Christmas” to all who comment and lurk at this facility.
A VERY special “Merry Christmas” to Rev Stu and all the Wingers I’ve eyeballed over the past 5 years at all the marches/rallies.
Onnyhoo… 2020 – onwards to Europe!

That’s a really lovely song. Thanks, and may all who are good in their hearts, and caring in their souls, have a most wonderful xmas night.
Who really will ‘inherit the Earth’? It’s what we need to answer.
Lennon’s, ‘Imagine’ seems to have not featured in any xmas songs in the shops that I go to, I wonder why, it’s very powerful and timeless.
Creativity, love and imagination, equals strength.
Peace to all at WoS.
Re;Sinky@8.02
‘Non speaking garlic’ lol I thought that was deliberate! fabuluous. If anyone is feeling very bah humbug, go watch ‘Granny ‘o’ Grimm’s christmas message’ on youtube, it’s still a great laugh, imo.
A Plea for assistance.
Can any one point me in the direction of information regarding the flying medical service in Scotland. I’ve read personal experiences from nurses, doctors and pilots, I think it might have started forties/fifties.
Just to wish Stuart and everyone A Very Merry Christmas and to thank Stuart for all your work in standing up for women’s rights in this crazy world . Hope everyone has had a lovely day .
Not too late I hope to say thank you, Rev, and try to have a break for a couple of days. No more than that as there is plenty work to do!
Merry Christmas to all the good folk btl and all the best for 2020.
Hi, Golfnut. I hope this helps;
The first actual flight was in May 1933 for fisherman John McDermid in urgent need of an abdominal operation but much too ill for the sea and road journey. He was at the Western Infirmary in Glasgow just over an hour after the aircraft had left Islay.

The English state is determined to absorb Scotland with the help of the BBC and its time the SNP stood up for our culture because it is fast disappearing.
Great link: Chairkickers poignant lyrics, so on point. As is your message, always!
Thank you Stuart, stay strong. Your factual voice is essential in our struggle.
All love and best wishes Rev and fellow Wingers. xx

Happy Birthday….. Another reason to like Boxing Day 🙂
I’ve always thought that Boxing Day was the best day of the year for Mum’s,because it’s the farthest away from next Christmas ye can get…. LOL….
Happy Christmas to all wingers , yessers , noers , British’s nationalists too.
For those who don’t yet support Scottish Independence please come and join us we welcome you gladly.
To those poor people referred to in the clips at the beginning of this post , I hope you get freedom and justice soon.
Let’s strive for a world that gives every person a home , warmth and cool water when needed , good food and clothing , healthcare and education .
Surely that’s not too much to ask for with so many billionaires going about ?
Liz g,
Hi Liz, thank you. The only drawback to being born on Boxing Day was the lack of birthday presents, what I got for Christmas was counted as birthday presents also.
🙁
Goodnight all!
😉
Call The Mid-Wifies Aah, how lovely to see ourselves reflected back at us through the distorting prism of wee, parochial London. I missed the beginning (due to a mind boggling Monopoly Game of Thrones & washing up) but it was all there: Drunk Scot? Tick. Racist Scot? Tick. Religious nutjob Scot? Tick. Wee Free zealot Scot? Tick. Fire & Brimstone Scot? Tick. Stupid Scot? (Pitten butter oan burns)… Tick. Downright nasty, ‘wir aw doomed’, xenophobic, bunch o’blood & soil, bumpkin Scots? Tick.
Many of my farming neighbours are Wee Free and they will rest on the Sabbath apart from all necessary and humanitarian work. So the farmers feed and water their stock, dig their flocks out of snowdrifts, nurse orphan lambs, tend horses whose rugs have come off, etc etc. on the Sabbath as it is necessary. Therefore the nonsense that a ferryman would refuse to row nurses and a doctor to a pregnant, marooned woman because of his faith, is a complete and distortion of a belief and shows only the ignorance, prejudice and small-minded parochialism of a rampant, Londoncentric BBC.
Ah well, another Boxing Day beckons.
Just picking up on a slow news day I couldn’t help but notice that the reputational rehabilitation of Prince Andrew is underway.
Attending the royal publicity event of the family going to church our man, albeit not at the head of the queue was accompanied by our future King Charles.
So much for the kiddie shagger’s repentance and withdrawal from royal public pomp.
As Arnie said ” he’ll be back ” and so he will. Royal shagger extrordinaire!
@ Bibbit.
I share your anger at the blatant racial stereotyping, an anger my wife couldn’t quite understand until I explained just how much bollocks this program contained. Unfortunately I couldn’t find anything on Wiki to back up my assertions (poor search criteria), until Smallaxe very kindly pointed me in the right direction. I recommend reading his link for a short explanation on the ground breaking service provided to the Highlands and Islands.
Happy birthday smallaxe.
Don’t know you, never met you, not likely to,
but your here and that’s good enough for me.
Have a good un.
Now that we are in the week between Christmas and New Year – I might buy a new car.
What I am wondering is, how much do people get paid for the ‘Arnold Clark’ advertisements on their car?.
Can anyone tell me? – or are they just being taken for a ride….perhaps a bit like being a member of the SNP. We need them for now, but once we are over the line, in the words of Alan Sugar……
Sharny Dubs,
Thank you, for your kind words especially as you don’t know me, never met me and are never likely to.
Consider yourself one of the lucky ones, Sharny, if you ask any of the many Wingers who have met me they’ll tell you that I’m a miserable greetin’ faced auld bastirt whose the founder of MGFABFI (Miserable Greetin’Faced Auld Bastirts for Independence) 🙂

Good to see them all once again.
Wishing a good New Year to all.
PS:
OK I have been a fan of Game of Thrones.
Got the Box set 1-6 about 3 years ago great. I have avoided all talk of how it finished and never looked to see.
Bought the series 7 dvd last year but never watched it and at last someone kind person gave me the new and last final series 8 dvd yesterday. 🙂

Seasons Greetings to one and all, sair heid, was aff the drink for a year since last Christmas Day, so thought I would get pissed to celebrate being teetotal for a year, bad mistake , dont think I will make that mistake again!
Great to see Smallaxe posting, all the best. Right im away back to lurking, but before I go hope to see many of you in Glasgow mid Jan, my dodgy knees mean that I cant do the March but will be at finish.

New year beckons , lets hope it is a great one.

Hopefully, we can gain our Independence with Peace and Love, that’s my dream. Westminster governments of whatever colour have killed, maimed and starved too many of our people for over 300yrs. We must do everything in our power to stop them from doing any more harm.

It was Robert Peffers who had cataracts but I believe he has had the operation so may return soon. Hope so anyway.
Smallaxe 12.30pm.
Thanks for that Smallaxe. We’re just back in, so I’ve just now seen your comment. I’m out of practice with links I’m afraid.
Sadly, I missed “Call the Midwife” on the box last night, from the comments above it must have been a cornucopia of negative and bogus Scottish stereotypes – marvelous, I love stuff like that.
I wonder if there is a mirror image site to this, where they see the world through “Uncle Tom” eyes. Where they are all praising the BBC for graciously setting aside a tiny fraction of their precious networked air-time for a parochial Scottish topic?
Or does it re-enforce thier shame at belonging to an outdated and inferior culturall entity and stiffen thier resolve to become ever more “British”?
Never having considered myself anything other than Scottish since adolecance – the workings of the Unionist mind has always been a mystery to me.
Happy Christmas to everyone.
The way Trump doesn’t care about those children in Texas, and elsewhere, is shocking.
He has a Victorian mentality. Actually it is a pre Victorian one. Bit like Boris Johnson, in that regard. All Trump cares about, is money, and if something gets in the way of it, like Congress recently declaring the Turkish slaughter of the Armenians, as Genocide, as he prefers his money deals with Turkey to the Truth, then he will try ignore it.
As he ignores the plight of those children.
Unfortunately, many of his wild supporters have the same way of thinking!
Gordon Keane
Unfortunately these camps have been running for quite a number of years, well before Trump – the photo in question is actually from June 2018, not Xmas Eve (not that that matters much of course) and are being used as justification for ‘Building the Wall’ (so that these Centres are no longer needed).
The USA has been in a sorry mess since 2001, and while Trump is the current steward, it will likely still be happening once he is gone…….in 2024.
As Bill Clinton said – there’s a government behind the government. Don’t expect change.

Not sure if it’s ever been mentioned here, but if anyone’s looking for something to binge-watch over the holidays, I can heartily recommend ‘Mr. Robot’. It’s on Amazon.
If you haven’t seen it, I won’t spoil anything – it deals with a lot of the issues we’ve discussed here over the years. It finished last week and the reviews have been brilliant – main argument seems to be whether or not it’s better than Breaking Bad.
😉
@ Smallaxe
Happy Birthday, and hope very much to see you in January.
@ everyone else – hope you enjoy Smallaxe’s birthday too!
See you soon.
Smallaxe…I don’t know you personally…but I wish I did.
All the best to you and your dearest .
People needing a boxset fix should checkout
“Better Call Saul”
Nothing’s better than “Breaking Bad” (Shame on you, Ian)
But the Saul sequel comes close.
And if you can find it
There’s a French espionage series called “Le Bureau”.
Never shop online so don’t know if its available that way.
I was lucky enough to pick up the first two series in the flesh.
(Thank you, Mr and Mrs Fopp)
Saw something on the BBC, I thought it was a clip from the BBC newsroom but no, it was an story about ‘The Steamie’. Maybe It just me but ‘did you see what the big man Gordon, you know the one frae Cowcaddens, said about those SNP, I think everybody should know that’. That seems to be the level of scrutiny in their bulletins.
You should all watch the Alec Salmond Show on RT re Finnish education. Hope John Swinney is taking note.

Brexit is madness. Be warned. Brexit is NOT ok.
Former labour candidate Keir Bloomer again bumping his gums on Education. Saying nothing new but on a slow newsday gets front page headlines.
Scotland in Union letter writers still frothing at the mouth on IndyRef2.
Smallaxe , as soon as Sybil said it I adopted it – I no longer accept that I am ranting I say that I am passionate , does me a lot of good!
An independent Scottish state will need a foreign policy. Schmoozing NATO and the US sends out questionable messages. Don’t look to the EU for guidance either. Italy and France are on opposing sides re Libya and EU policy on Iran and the Levant is incoherent if not toothless.
The US continues to dictate the ‘West’s’ interests. The EU ought to have a mind of its own, one of the founding reasons for the existence of the European Union. With the British out that might happen, but then again…
Scotland needs to be wary with whom it ‘gets into bed’
Remember the dark side of Unionism. An alliance for the few, not the many.
Just saw the Christmas Twitter tweet from the chief constable of Northern Ireland posting a Chridtmas Day photograph of himself and officers posing with semi automatic rifles outside Crossmaglen police station. What a fine Christmas message – and I think it says much about how Boris and the boys want to see Ni move forward. Totally provocative on what should be a day of peace. They’re looking for a fight.
Talk of a physical link between Scotland and Ireland falls at the first dyke, Beaufort’s to be exact.

And they want to build a bridge to make us closer to this lot
The bridge to Northern Ireland is a nonsense. Some people talk as though it was just a slightly longer Forth Road Bridge, but it would be thirty miles long as opposed to a mile and a half and the water in the north Channel is a thousand feet deep compared to about a hundred in the Forth.
It would need at least twenty towers over twelve hundred feet tall to carry the road and all this in a busy shipping channel. The munitions dumped in the Beaufort dyke are another complication and the winter storms would probably close it for weeks at a time.
It is probably possible if unlimited billions were thrown at it but no sensible contractor would take it on with a fixed price.
Far better to improve the ferries and roads at a small fraction of the price.
Yes that is a bridge too far.
FGS! So is this:
Reynard killed dressed in a kimono. Unspeakable arse!
Boris only does broad brush-strokes thinking (assuming he is capable of rational thought).
He does not do detail, far-less fine detail. That failing will be his downfall, all we have to do is get out of the UK before he gets carried away and causes real carnage.
I feel, at every opportunity, the SNP MPs should be calling his bluff, making him out to be the feartie he is.
Something along the lines of: “Of course, if the Prime Minister is so-certain that the Scots would be better off in this Union, and so-certain his case for the Union would carry the day at Indyref2, then let him agree to the S30, and let’s settle this.
Call him a feartie often enough and he will bite.
The fruits of Unionism.

Deny all that’s evil you say….
Seems like Jo Maugham is doing a good job of that…as are those that are justifying his murder of a Fox.
So…supporters ??…who have concluded that the actual TWEETING of his atrocious act of killing a Fox with a bat was the worst thing he did as opposed to the actual killing of the fox…a fox that apparently was trapped by the netting in the Maugham’s chicken coop thus defenseless….wow…just think if the perpetrator of this heinous act had been a ………….prominent Brexiteer…… as opposed to a prominent remainer….the minds of his many supporters would have been wandering down an alternate route I’m sure….and with NO justification to offer in the committing of this awful act.
Kill a fox with a bat….sorry but the guy is a C**t…tweet about it as if it is of no significance indeed as if it is a mere witty tweet at Xmas …sorry but the guy is then also clearly a privileged C**t….and one who obviously likes his eggs fresh and no urban Fox will deny him and his family of this little treat ……hence the handy bat an obvious tool to deploy in the circumstances…if you’re a C**t that is…sure as a QC he is trying to DEFEND his actions…meanwhile those of us who love animals know his actions were indefensible and his tweeting of the incident also….he can deny that it was evil but we, who love animals, know otherwise.
Some Tweets from prominent Remainers on this :
” I’m not defending Jolyon Maugham nor his actions but as many others have pointed out – if he’d been dressed in hunting clobber or called James Delingpole all of this would have been very different”.
****************
” Adorable! This child is helping packs of dogs tear foxes to fucking shreds!
[literally underneath it with no shred of irony]
SICK REMOANER KILLS FOX WHILST NOT EVEN WEARING FORMAL DRESS”

A lot of them are NOT mentioning it on their Twitter a/c’s and others are highlighting Fox Hunting should be banned and showing pictures of hunts….but carefully also not mentioning the Maugham ‘incident’ which then becomes so very conspicuous by it’s absence if one cares about Foxes….and the killing of..either by a pack of Dogs or by …bludgeoning to death with a bat….hypocrites.

Just look at what the “British State” has illegally done to Palestine, “they have form,” so no surprise with the Chagos Islands.
The British State guilty of causing and continually funding war criminals,( aye the good war criminals, their pals) just wait until Smirker Patel is giving UK foreign aid money to Israel, so they can continue the sham.
Mr Corbyn would have sorted this mess, but the empire would never have allowed it.
The Chagos Islands are being rented to America for a naval base so the Brits would have to tell them to get out and there’s no way they’ve got the guts to do that, much easier to do the Great British thing and kick the can down the road forever until all the claiments just give up and or die
When Boris Johnson was foreign secretary for five minutes he phoned the President of Mauritius on an open line and threatened to trade starve them if they continued their claim, that conversation was recorded and brought to the attention of the UN and everybody else and that was what sealed the case against good old Great England Britain UK

OT ( if there is a topic) – National Records Scotland are proposing an assault on the integrity of the Census 2021.
On 12th June this year, Holyrood passed the Census Bill which stated that the sex question, which is a statutary question i.e we are obliged to answer it truthfully, should remain binary. MSPs also voted that additional voluntary questions should ask for sexual orientation and gender identity.
NRS then launched a consultation on whether the sex question should be answered according to gender identity rather than biological sex. This is in complete contradiction to the decision of the Parliament.
They have now published their findings where, big surprise, they advise that the sex question should have guidance that it can be answered according to your gender identity.
Their reasoning is spectacularly illogical.
First they say that:
What does this gibberish mean?
Since 1801 people have answered the sex question. They didn’t need guidance because it is obvious that humans are either male or female. NRS says that this means we have always SELF IDd when answering the sex question. If any sentence reeks of Stonewall newspeak it is this one.
Oh – so transgender and non binary people DO read the guidance after all. But they are not willing to answer the question truthfully. Bear in mind it is a criminal offence to
A Not answer a statutary question.
B Lie.
So is NRS advising people to break the law?
Are we prepared to have such an important national information gathering exercise as the Census 2021 corrupted and rendered useless as a public policy tool because a few hundred people don’t want to answer the sex question truthfully? Who runs National Records Scotland? Why are ministers not telling them to do what Parliament has voted for?

Re. the census questionnaire. There are very good reasons why a gender critical approach is considered best practice in such matters. It is difficult to grasp reality when one doesn’t take account of underlying cultural biases. The classification of sex must remain grounded in biology, if it is to have any practical meaning and value,

It is always instructive to ask who and what Scotland will inevitably become independent of;
‘…Britain has become a place where untransparent money, from unknown sources, is widely accepted with a complacent shrug. London is the world capital of offshore banking, home to the most sophisticated accountants and lawyers; a third of British billionaires have availed themselves of those services and moved their money beyond the reach of the state, according to a report Thursday in the Times of London. Many of them nevertheless continue to make donations to British political parties, and many continue to lobby to keep the rules that favor them exactly as they are.
As a result, the British political class does not have the willpower to force them to bring their money home. The British state does not have the legal tools to force Banks to show where his cash came from’

If I genuinely thought there was a better than even chance of it happening or if their was a bookmaker anywhere who would offer odds against that there would be no referendum then I would take the bet on offer by the Reverend.
Anyone think that Scotland won’t be dragged out of the EU against it’s will on the 31st of January?
There was a lot of “Scotland won’t be dragged out of the EU against it’s will” flying about these last three years. My personal favourite was when Mr. Blackford was stating this on the floor of the house
on the same day that the FM gave an interview to an Italian newspaper saying that Scotland would rejoin the EU one day.
Politicians of all persuasions should start saying what’s true as opposed to what they want to be true.
Sometimes I wonder if the momentum and opprtunity that presented itself in 2016 has been pissed away. There is no material difference between Sturgeon’s letter to Johnson and her letter to May over three years ago, other than a glossy democracy publicity shot similar to the sort an oil company would stick in the centre of “quality” paper.
It would be nice to be surprised, but I won’t be disappointed again.
Where’s Joe? Are you having a quiet one with your significant polak? Anyway, enjoy my friend.
@ CBB – glad to see you posting. It’s is incredible that a national organisation, dedicated to collecting data on our behalf, National Records of Scotland, should even contemplate corrupting the data collection process. But that is where we are today. It is policy capture at the highest levels of government.
If this goes ahead we will have no way of knowing how many women there are in Scotland. So we won’t be able to accurately plan health and social services. We will have no way of calculating what percentage of women develop health conditions, attain higher education levels, gain seats on public boards, commit crimes or participate in sports.
The data will be irretrievably corrupt.

For a number of weeks on Wings, Stu and many of the commentators have been more vehement in their criticism of the SNP than I have ever been. I’ve largely stayed out of that cos it’s mainly been about the SNP’s devolution policies.
I’ve already made it clear I am unlikely to support the SNP Holyrood colonial administration in the future anyway, so I have little interest in debates about their devolution policies such as gender self id.
I believe the SNP should be for indy, not administering the Union for the UK state. It’s a shame Nicola and many SNP supporters see things differently.
I look forward to the day when the SNP becomes a single issue party: independence for Scotland.
The Iain Macwhirter article posted by Mike Cassidy at 5:03 hits the nail on the head for me.

It’s rather alarming the level of policy captue that is happening in front of us. The GRA concerns the recognition of adopted gender, not the changing of sex, which is impossible. Gender is not the same as sex. It’s not rocket surgery.
Rethinking Gender Differences in Health: Why We Need to Integrate Social and Biological Perspectives
link to academic.oup.com
Sorry for adding to the confusion. Gender is the ‘polite’ way of referring to sex. I was inaccurately refereeing to gender-ideology, which represents how an individual self-identifies, i.e. their psychological picture of themselves. An individual’s psychology is formed through the interaction of the individual’s biology with the social environment. As such, endorsing gender-ideology in law, seeks to broaden the scope and reach of natural justice, by empowering the disordered and irrational. The gender-ideology of trans-individuals is disordered from their biology.
Gender-ideology certainly does not provide a sufficiently coherent, logically robust, or ethically rational base on which to ground public policy.

Brian Wilson honoured too…not with knighthood I hasten to add oh and Ross McEwan…yes THAT Ross McEwan….sure all those peeps with small businesses will LOVE that….
Told you this is the C**t Age….
Sorry again, gender-identity not gender-ideology, though they can be used interchangeably. It is very important to use the correct terminology in the social sciences, which I’ve hopefully managed to highlight. Dismiss as bogus, anything that tries to conflate sex and gender-identity.
@ CBB – the policy capture is achieved thus – the Scottish Government grants trans lobby organisations hundreds of thousands of pounds of public funds. Those lobby organisations share many board members. They meet Scottish ministers and civil servants on a weekly basis to advise on policy development. They also write policy documents such as the recent ill judged advice to schools.
When bills are written and consulted on, trans lobby groups have sight of the documents and are kept informed of the timetable. Other groups, such as For Women Scotland, are not invited to participate or comment.
We are presented with a fait accomplis. No risk assessment or equality impact assesments are carried out.
That’s policy capture. That’s how a bizarre, irrational, unscientific delusion is currently spreading throughout the public sphere.
Capella
That’s what happens when a gender-critical approach to policy formation is abandoned in favoure of a metaphysically questionable, ideology biased, and wholly dysfunctional interpretation of social constructavism. Who ordered the civil service to adopt other than best practice when constructing the original consultation?

That sounds plausible and if it is fact, It would follow that the Trans activists would embed themselves the political parties to ensure that as many candidates sympathetic to their aims as possible were pushed up the greasy pole.
It would seem to me that this battle is one that would be best fought within the internal democratic framework of the SNP.
While it must be conceded that even an independence-seeking
political party should have policies and objectives that go beyond replacing the flag that flies above Edinburgh castle.
Clearly there are divisive issues that when weighed against potential gains and losses do not warrant inclusion in party policy and when championed by elected members against the wishes of their constituencies, call into question their suitability for office.
But unless there are resolutions condemning the abolition of reality that this nonsense represents, at Branches, CA’s, and Conference. It will be “business as usual” for Trendy-Lefty cabal that has had absolute control over a Party terrified of appearing divided – ever since Alec Salmond put his bollox on the line to win the soon to be redundant INDEPENDENCEINEUROPE baby-steps argument.
@ Col Blimp IV – I agree. Every SNP member can raise this at Branch level and ensure the leadership is crystal clear about grass roots concerns. Also, everyone, whether party members or not, who is interested in independence, can respond to the consultations on reform of the GRA and on data collection for the 2021 census. Let your MSP know too.

Colin Alexander@9:38
“So, are you suggesting a declaration of indy by Holyrood majority rather than by an indyref?
I thought the SNP position was indyref was the only acceptable way?”
I’m suggesting that the Lords and Commons, as legislatures, will never acquiesce to a modification of the Scotland Act 1998 via a Section 30(2) Order in Council, irrespective of whatever half-baked Bill the Johnson Government may present at some point in future.
I also suspect that any legal challenge to a refusal on the part of the Johnson Government to introduce such a Bill would get short shrift from the UKSC.
I’m therefore of the opinion that IndyRef2 will not take place. (I also read that Colin Weir, one of the major financers of Yes in 2014 is no longer with us – RIP).
The SNP, in the absence of any IndyRef2, will have to change its position on the means of gaining independence for Scotland or abandon the cause completely. What do you think it will do?
@ Pete – there is absolutely no connection with LGBT people in higher echelons of power and the policy capture I described.
IMO it is far more likely that well meaning but ignorant individuals succumb to the mantra of “inclusiveness” and believe that they are doing the right thing.
I happen to think that they are wrong and that I have a right to say so and explain my reasons.
robertknight
First, I’m also sorry to read of the passing of Colin Weir, a good friend to Scotland’s indy cause and the SNP, and he was kind enough to give financial support. He was also a good supporter of Partick Thistle.
I’m no certain about a s30. The UK state might just see it as a gift horse. They rigged indyref1 and rigged the UK election. It’s an open invitation to have the chance to rig indyref2. Especially, with the SNP full of bluff and bluster and little substance behind it.
A chance to smash the indy movement and then complete the UK state constitutional reforms to turn Scotland into a federal prisoner of the UK state like Catalonia in Spain.
Johnson, Cummings and their backers are gallous cases compared to Theresa May’s lot. They might just go for it, as they did with the GE, as they know Ms Sturgeon’s team are in charge now, not Alex Salmond. They know Nicola is a devolution administrator, not a leader in the sense she lacks the boldness, vision, ideas and inspiration that Alex had.
Then again, they know time is on their side, so delay ends the mandate; and the SNP (and Greens) are doing a reasonable job of alienating support at Holyrood, so might not get a majority in 2021. So they may decide to just prevaricate.
Even if the SNP got another mandate in 21, it can again be ignored. Nicola and the SNP leadership will only moan and accept it- as long as they retain their power as colonial administrators.
Capella
That’s a pretty reasonable analysis, IMHO. From the perspective of Critical Realism, trans-activists are wrong. Claims to sex-based rights can only be ethical if the claimant is of the sex that the right pertains too. Human sex is characterised by it’s dimorphism and immutability. It is not a matter of subjective creativity or the product of man’s will, it is the result of nature in action. Humanity is part of nature, not separate and above, which is the inescapable logical commitment of trans-activism.

Colin@10:09
Not much in your post I can take issue with. The Johnson Government might yet call the SNPs bluff as they would have it, but if their gamble didn’t pay off… witness Cameron and Brexit.
Much safer, for them, would be to agree to introduce a Bill in the HoC, claiming the high ground as champions of democracy, but in doing so ensure that a free vote for Tory backbenchers will see it go no further than the First Reading.
The Johnson Government would be off the hook in terms of being seen to frustrate the demands of the SNP, the Bill being killed in its infancy by the UK Parliament and NOT the UK Government, and Johnson could blame Blackford & Co. for failing to persuade the House of the merits of IndyRef2.
Mrs Betty Windsor from Surrey would no doubt be purring down the line to No.10 once again, having seen her Scots vassals brought to heel by her new Champion of the Union.
The world would simply see a form of parliamentary democracy in action and move on, while the SNP, and the wider Yes movement, would be left with very few options indeed.
Hence the >50%x2 may be the only option open to the SNP in the absence of IndyRef2. On a single issue Holyrood manifesto advocating the Repeal of the 1707 Act of Union with England, should the SNP gain >50% of the votes cast AND >50% of the seats at Holyrood then that would be a sufficient mandate by any measure to bring our MPs home from Westminster and start the process of achieving Independence.
My feeling is that Boris and Dom will agree to S30 but on their terms but such that it will be hard for the SG to refuse.

In fairness , I do not think Joanna Cherry could have foreseen him, Maugham, committing or indeed capable of such a barbaric act….I however do agree that it was not her job or indeed the job of any of the SNP party to try and save the UK as a whole from Brexshit…their job was to save Scotland and Scotland only…..
No fecken thanks will she be given or indeed any SNP politician for their efforts on this via the prominent ‘liberal’ minded remainer mob who preferred their politicians ‘Liberal’ and ‘Democrats’ and lead by Jo Swinson….Brexshit is now a done deal …for England anyway…time that resources and energy were refocused by the SNP to do the job they were elected to do by the people who elected them….simples.
A more comprehensive insight into the social phenomena that is harming Scotland’s democracy, and our chances of success. Well-meaning intention is not helpful if it masks the true nature of reality. Endorsing gender-ideology in law, turns the clock back on gender equality, as it undoes much of what was achieved by second wave feminism. These gains are generally considered to have benefited society, as they related to an improvement of the legal recognition of women as equal but different to men.
I imagine most indy supporters look forward to Scotland achieving better legal recognition of Scotland’s difference and equality to England. That’s what the British constitution is supposed to ensure. Alarmingly, it has proven incapable of protecting Scotland from the collective narcissism and cultural demands of populist English nationalism. Has this been brought to the public’s attention? 😉
