Alistair Carmichael needs to man up, come out hiding and face the music. He has a number of important questions to answer:

    Was he at the meeting?

If not, who was (from the SO)?

If so, is NS, the French ambassador and the consul general telling the truth?

If not, is he calling them all liars?

    Did he write the memo?

    If not, who did?

    Does he have any evidence?

    Etc etc etc.

Alistair’s went away out for a Easter Sunday Swim. Unfortunately for him, local Greenpeace Activists thought he was a beached whale and towed him back into the sea. Fortunately for us, a passing Norwegian trailer thought he was a humpback and speared him for his blubber. I wish? Lol.

Carmichael was at the meeting with the French Ambassador in Edinburgh too but had one too many “canapes”

Back at the uK Scotland Office his Senior Staffer reminds him to file his report. Having had a Charles Kennedy moment and forgotten what the meeting was about he tells the Civil Servant to phone the French Consul General to scrabble a report.

The posh Civil Servant of the speak louder to foreigners ilk phones but
does not understand a word of the beautiful English Spoken by our Gallic friend so manufactures a report of the sort her boss the Secretary of State for Scotland might like to hear but safely qualifies it in the last paragraph as being possibly lost in translation.

Our sharp as a razor Imperial Governor sees an opportunity to damage the SNP and the rest is history.

If you can find it, I seem to remember watching Scotland Tonight the other night and there was a clip of Carmichael at some point getting a tour of a whiskey distillery. Anyway it struck me as weird when I was watching it because I don’t think he smiled once during the clip. And considering he was on the campaign trail folk are usually all smiles. Maybe he’d already done the deed by then/found out he’d been thrown under the bus, and he was shiting it.

Of course Pierre doesn’t want to say who his friend is, but if the ambassador or French government should, decide that the way they have (not for the first time) been used as silver bullets, to attack the SNP, as well as all but accused of being liars, is unacceptable, they might just decide that it is in their own best interest, to tell Pierre, he must release all his notes from the incident, including this telephone conversation with his big fat friend, (not that I suspect anyone mind)

However the phrase that got me in this piece was tea total?

A vague recollection of Smurphy outside the Clutha Bar that night came to mind.

My recollection of him standing their being interviewed by the BLBC was one of him with this am out of this world glaikit expression on his face. I thought then he looked pissed to hell and then when he spoke there was long gaps as he looked into space……..yes with this glaikit look. Now we all know his brain is wired up incorrectly and that his mouth is slow to respond to the grey matter but he always has a glaikit expression on his face unless he’s dodging eggs in which case hell claim he has egg on his face ……but.

So was he ……..pissed that night or well maybe he had just been sniffing the glue.

It would be interesting to see that interview again……. just to see that glaikit expression and make a definitive decision was it alcohol or glue?

The Civil Servant friend of the CG, writer of the unofficial memo isn’t difficult to work out, but even if they wrote the note of the telephone conversation in good faith accompanied by the rider of ‘lost in translation’, or even if they wrote it with skewed motive of nefarious intent, they may or may not have leaked it.
Finding the leaker may be a little more difficult. If it’s the civil servant, even if they confess as a useful tool in order to take the flak (reminds me of Jeremy Hunt’s SpAd during the Murdoch ‘back-channel’ bid) they’re for the chop. If it’s someone else it may be a little more difficult to uncover. Maybe Simon from the Telegraph can help with that. Then we’ll find out what standard of journalistic integrity he subscribes to. He might claim to “protect his sources”, but the claims in the memo have been soundly rebutted. Will he assist?

I don’t doubt this UK government memo exists in some form and I don’t doubt its content either or that it originated from a British state office.

The fact that its content is a calculated spurious comment of pure conjecture at best, with no basis in fact; confirmed by all the parties ‘accused of the said fabricated statements’ is more than concerning. Published and broadcast before UK state reacts at all.

The main worry is why the UK government did not pounce on this before the FM complained. Remember they are only investigating a leak – not the content of that leak.

This brings us back to all the covert sinister home and international briefing against YES via UK embassies during the referendum.

Just what other fabrications via Governmental memo, Chinese whispers aren’t we hearing about ?

Con/LibDems have targeted the vulnerable and rewarded the wealthy who caused the crash. £30Billion of welfare cuts will hit the sick and most vulnerable.

More tax revenues are raised (pro rata 9%) in Scotland than the rest of the UK. £54Billion+ (Corp tax paid through the City of London HQ’s etc.) The rest of the UK raises £412Billion (borrows and spends £90Billion). Scotland could raise more by scrapping Trident/illegal wars, a tax on ‘loss leading’ alcohol, and Oil on the West coast. Westminster economic policies hold Scotland back.

What you can’t see, and Chris isn’t telling us, is that Dim Jim is hiding in the kitchen and controlling the scams on the alcohol.

btw, I refuse to reveal my source but what i can tell you is that she is very close to Dim Jim and is a Slabber party member.

Daily Telegraph said the senior civil servant who wrote memo was a “he”.

French Consul-General said it was someone at the Scotland Office.

That makes it almost certain it was one of these two senior male civil servants at the Scotland Office:

Chris Flatt, Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State

Glenn Preston, Deputy Director (Home, Social & Domestic Affairs)

I’d put money on it being Flatt.

Keep in mind that Clegg’s yellow tories are the party which welcomed back the odious Lord Rennard to their party with open arms after this scandal.

Leaving the Lib Dems – senior woman quits over Rennard

In her letter to Mr Clegg, seen by Channel 4 News, Ms Gaszczak writes: “I joined as a teenager, I have knocked on doors, delivered millions of leaflets, stood for council and parliament… I have given time, love, effort, as well as sweat and tears…However, I can no longer remain a member of a party that feels it is acceptable for the then chief executive to invite me to his hotel room to advance my political career.”

She adds: “Even though I have complained, and raised this for over 7 years, the party still do not see the complaint as an issue. This week the appeals panel met and threw out our appeal to an unfair process. I have been called credible more than once. Yet still no-one feels it is appropriate to deal with the issue.”

It’s also the party which still refuses to hold an open and full inquiry into Cyril Smith.

    The Guardian ?@guardian Apr 4

Liberal officials allegedly bribed activists who witnessed Cyril Smith grope boy link to trib.al

So the chances of the fat fool Carmichael coming out of hiding with a believable account at what went on at the scotland office under his orders are close to zero.

About the same chance then of the unionist media bothering to look into Carmichael’s role in the tabloid smearing, lies and dirty tricks.

SNP should take no part in any debate chaired by James Cook he is vehemently anti SNP. Ive been watching him since Bannockburn day until now. The vision of his smug mug on the ten o’clock news the other night told me it was bad news for the SNP. His interview with Nicola in Georges square was nothing short of an attempt to get her saying what he wanted to hear, and not what she wanted to say. He is in the same league as the other honours chasers

Carmichael is still my main suspect. The link to the Scotland Office, his meeting with the French Ambassadeur, in addition to his previous with the Torygraph reporter, certainly point a finger in his direction. However, I don’t think he was the instigator, and was certainly not acting alone.

What were Carmichael’s motives? Save the Lib Dems? Perhaps his own seat? None of those. Carmichael’s interest would be to smear the SNP and impress his Imperial masters. The buffoon never thought that the paper trail would lead back to him so quickly. Now he is in hiding trying to work out a plausible defence.

Who else would stand to benefit? Labour certainly ramped up their ‘Vote SNP get Tories’ campaign of late. At first I expected it was a fall back after their other major statement, ‘the biggest party’ had been shredded to pieces. However, they progressed with ‘Tories little helpers.’ Looks suspiciously as though they were ramping up the Tory connection just in time for the press release. They were unusually alert in hurling the mud and have milked the situation embarrassingly to their own detriment.

The Tories? Their fingers shall be in the pie, but they have more or less distanced themselves and let the others self harm. Their tracks will be well covered, whereas Carmichael and his pals from Labour could lose out badly if a full inquiry were to take place.

The smear has certainly backfired, and the public have not been fooled, witnessed by the continuing membership rise and the number of labour members cancelling their subscriptions.

Now, having cried wolf once, it is a tactic whose chance of success in the future, has become greatly diminished.

I had forgotten he was in there too. Passing that document to Crosby would be more likely to be a Mundell move than Carmichael. Carmichael might be hiding because he knows he is going to take the flak for another person’s misdeeds.

Also what if it was Carmichael that said he though Ed was useless and wires were crossed by the time it had been through Chinese whispers?

Carmichael confirms that it is a Scottish Office memo but says anyone could have leaked it. That is bollocks because the memo states at the top that it is sensitive and therefore would have been on limited distribution.

I don’t want this site to be mundane where everyone is scared to say the wrong word but surely a line has to be drawn somewhere. I think you crossed it.
