    273 to “To the future”

    1. Willie Jay says:

Thank you for the heads up! Looking forward to it.

    2. Stephen OBrien says:

YES! The return of real hope 🙂

    3. Lollysmum says:

      Thanks Stuart.

    4. Allium says:

      Can’t wait.

    5. P says:

      Cheers Rev
      Will share

    6. MaggieC says:

This could be very interesting ? . Looking forward to it .

    7. crisiscult says:

Are you two getting married 😀 (and if you ban me for that I’ll come for your rats!)

    8. shug says:

I hope he takes a gentle line on the SNP for the election but retains the option to pin down the Vietnam group later.

Having said that he owes the SNP nothing

      Fingers crossed

      ps
I wonder when the unionists will release their messages and pin Nicola to the wall

    9. Skip_NC says:

I hope Sky et al will allow live broadcast outside the UK. Of course, he may just be talking about the legal action he mentioned, but I have a feeling I don’t want to miss this. Nothing tangible – just a sense this could be a big moment.

    10. robertknight says:

Some badly needed ‘good news’ would be nice…

    11. Cath says:

Today is the day we find out if the independence movement has actually been playing a blinder with a hellish situation over the past few years. Or if we truly are screwed for at least the next five years. I’m nervous about this announcement, I won’t lie.

    12. Mike Fenwick says:

Will also be broadcast on Independence Live – support independent Scottish media!!!

    13. Astonished says:

      Exciting isn’t it .

    14. Mia says:

      Exciting!

    15. Cenchos says:

Ah. That answers yesterday’s tease that

‘Today is going to be by some distance the quietest one in Scottish politics this week’

    16. Stephen P says:

Kenny MacAskill had a piece in the Scotsman yesterday attacking the Greens. It finished with a very pointed remark endorsing support on the list for any real party of independence.

      It certainly wasn’t a SNP 1&2 endorsement.

      Laying the groundwork.

    17. McLaurin says:

      Mon the chief!

    18. Skip_NC says:

Mike Fenwick, thanks for that. I will tune in there.

    19. Willie Jay says:

“Some badly needed ‘good news’ would be nice… ”

Yes indeed, Robert. I am kinda “doon” at the moment asnd it all has to do with the Scottish political scenario.

    20. Yasmin says:

Hope he’s taking over the Independence movement. Sick of the unprincipled frauds currently in charge.

    21. shiregirl says:

      Oh ya beauty.

Day off today and I’ve baked sausage rolls, scones and a chocolate tiffin. I’ve got those nice olive and manchego cheese rectangular tortilla chip things in. Snackettes sorted. Wine chillin’. Happy days. Go on Alex.

    22. sarah says:

Can’t wait. I’m desperate for good news!

    23. Harry mcaye says:

Judging by Craig Murray’s earlier tweet, I think he may be standing for the AFI or may be even leading them. I just joined the ISP recently. Echoes of my Dad buying a Betamax!

    24. Lenny Hartley says:

My feeling is that it will be more than Salmond standing on the list.
New email address so hopefully get past pre moderation.

    25. T.roz says:

Oh please let this be about Holyrood and list voting. Then quickly followed by you announcing too Rev

    26. Edward MacD says:

We can only hope that he’s setting up a challenge to the dreadful, lazy, selfish SNP.

    27. Lulu Bells says:

OMG…I have had a shtty few weeks on a personal front and this might be just the tonic I need…

    28. Al-Stuart says:

      .
No biggie. Apparently Alex has been looking at buying a flat in Glasgow Southside. Favours Kelvin.

Can’t imagine why Alex would want to live in a place where his current MSP is Nicola Sturgeon.

Will be ruddy well glued to yon TV screen 😉

      Thanks for the heads-up Stuart.

    29. Lollysmum says:

      @Yasmin @ 1.02pm
      With you on that

      @shiregirl also at 1.02pm
You’ve prepared a feast so I do hope you aren’t disappointed:-)

    30. Wullie B says:

If he was a trawlerman, Alex would have been classed as a snapper, the boat every crewman in a town would love to get a berth aboard with, hmmmm I wonder if Cherry taking a break has anything to do with today’s news?

    31. Garrion says:

eh. As a colleague once said, and I quote, “kin ye haud yersels doon tae a frenzy?”

Whatever Alex Salmond says, we’re still in the weeds, the monkeys are grinding the organ, and there’s a long walk to dawn.

Sorry to be a bummer, but we can’t make him the receptacle for all our hopes. Just sayin.

    32. ScottieDog says:

Cheers Stuart. Hopefully a chink of light in the darkness

    33. PhilM says:

Please, please stand Alex and stand where it hurts the Great Imposter.
That being said, I think we’re almost at the point where Scotland is going to need a velvet revolution…

    34. Grey Gull says:

      Shiregirl 1.02

Can I come round to yours?! I can bring a bottle too (smiley face)

    35. ScottieDog says:

“ he was a trawlerman, Alex would have been classed as a snapper, the boat every crewman in a town would love to get a berth aboard with, hmmmm I wonder if Cherry taking a break has anything to do with today’s news?”
      ?

    36. Mark Boyle says:

      @Harry mcaye says:
      26 March, 2021 at 1:05 pm

“Judging by Craig Murray’s earlier tweet, I think he may be standing for the AFI or may be even leading them. I just joined the ISP recently. Echoes of my Dad buying a Betamax!”

I doubt Salmond is joining the AFI – with three of it’s top candidates being Tommy’s old team, it’s pretty obvious they’d not like anyone that’s a bigger name than him (sorry Craig Murray, but most folk simply don’t know you … yet).

If he is standing – and that’s a big “if” – it will be as an unaffiliated independent, probably on both a constituency seat and the list for his own stamping ground.

    37. Mark Boyle says:

(Apologies for “it’s” instead of “its”)

    38. Grey Gull says:

      Garrion@1.18
I know what you mean. Alex will appeal to most of us on here but many of my fellow Yes campaigners from 2014 can’t see past Nicola. Whatever the plan is, I hope the man has the health and stamina to keep fighting and I hope he knows he has a great many Scots at his back.

    39. Lady Lyon says:

Excited much! Maybe should have got some incontinence pants when I went shopping earlier ?

    40. Nally Anders says:

      Fabulous. Should shake things up.

    41. Republicofscotland says:

Oh, I do hope Alex is going to announce that he’s steeping back into the political fray.

    42. dramfineday says:

Could this be an night where, in spite of myself, I have a large dram? I wonder?

    43. Kenny says:

Alex doesn’t make ‘GIRUY’ type announcements, or ‘We’re guilty as sin but we’re going to troll you to let you think we’re innocent’ type statements or tweets – Alex Salmond, Statesman, is above all that, both politically and as a person – but I just hope it’s a little something to satisfy us all [everyone that knows what’s been taking place since late 2017] and is also something he can get his teeth into.

Alex Salmond is a world-class leader and deserves to be in the thick of it, enjoying himself, and doing what he does best – working towards an independent Scotland.

Btw, GIRUY, all you liars and crooks.

    44. Andy says:

Maybe the Edinburgh Robertson seat he is eyeing up.

I would say he would romp that battle.

    45. Andy says:

      SNP Ultras urr Beelin.

    46. Kenny says:

.. and maybe – just maybe – I’ll go back onto Twitter again, cos it was a fricken sewer the last time sewer-morals conned a ‘positive’ outcome from a guilty-as-suspected verdict.

    47. Rose Ford says:

      Thank you, Rev.

    48. sarah says:

Alex is NOT on AFI’s list – they have published their number 1 and 2 names today – see their Facebook.

    49. Liz says:

If he is standing, and I do hope he is, can’t see it being outside the NE.
Doesn’t matter if you support ISP or AFI, all us indy folk can get behind Alex wherever he stands.

BTW see Nicola out door to door canvassing at the mo.

Funny how the Covid rules change when she wants them to.

    50. Vivian O'Blivion says:

“Come at the King you best not miss” – Omar Little, The Wire.

    51. WeeChid says:

      Mike Fenwick says:
      26 March, 2021 at 12:57 pm
Will also be broadcast on Independence Live – support independent Scottish media!!!

Thanks for that – got the laptop tuned in for that instead of on Sky.

    52. SilverDarling says:

What about the Airdrie and Shotts seat? An ally for Joanna Cherry and able to take on Boris face to face?

    53. Tartan Tory says:

Saddened by some of the visceral anti-Alex comments by blind Indy supporters on the Wings Facebook page! 🙁

    54. WeeChid says:

I have a horrible feeling that if he stands in the election in May he will lose. I like him too much to want to see him humiliated any further and would rather he concentrated on his court case and get the b*****ds who stitched him up jailed.
However, if he does stand I would absolutely love to be proved wrong and see him back in Holyrood holding the SNP to account.

    55. Stu hutch says:

      THE KING RETURNS ?

    56. Helen Yates says:

Hopefully our wish is about to be granted. I’m so exited.

    57. Alf Baird says:

      Harry mcaye @ 1:05 pm

“Judging by Craig Murray’s earlier tweet, I think he may be standing for the AFI or may be even leading them. I just joined the ISP recently. Echoes of my Dad buying a Betamax!”

My brother bought a Betamax and the family still remind him of it! Folk had to shift quickly, as you might need to do.

I would also like to think Alex is standing for election in May. Perhaps on an ‘anti-corruption’ ticket and a vote to clean up the mess created by his successor. I hope this is connected to AFI, and to their commitment that:

“AFI shall also campaign for a simple majority of the popular vote for pro-indy parties across both the constituencies and the regional lists, at the “Independence” election, and for such a majority to be understood to be a mandate for independence itself.”

    58. WeeChid says:

      Tartan Tory says:
      26 March, 2021 at 1:40 pm
“Saddened by some of the visceral anti-Alex comments by blind Indy supporters on the Wings Facebook page! ?”

I’ve stopped looking at Facebook. I was falling out with too many people. People who I thought were intelligent but who are very firmly in the “I’m with Nicla” brigade and who genuinely think the SNP still intend to deliver independence.

    59. Johnny Martin says:

If he is standing, I’d expect he will have conducted private polling to see if it is viable – he isn’t daft!

    60. Big Jock says:

I knew he wouldn’t let us down. I will not be politically homeless anymore.

    61. SilverDarling says:

If he loses he will still have had a say. People who say it is all about ego don’t understand what the early SNP Mswent through with numerous failures. It is about getting your message out. One thing we know is that AS will take on anyone and is a master of the political process.

    62. Cath says:

What about the Airdrie and Shotts seat? An ally for Joanna Cherry and able to take on Boris face to face?

Can’t see Airdrie and Shotts really. But if a few other MPs were jump ship to stand on the AFI list, there would be several by-elections. A WM seat would give parliamentary privilege which, we now know, Holyrood doesn’t have.

    63. Alison Brown says:

I’ve known about this for months and sworn to secrecy! So exciting – we may yet get our Independence!!

    64. Effigy says:

Listening about Boris being on the moral high ground
telling China it is abusing its Muslim citizens?

Is that the Boris that said Muslim women look like letter boxes?
      Black people have watermelon smiles.

He is also up their on protecting women, the guy who had the police
called around when he refused to get off his current partner nor leave
      her hone when screened at.

Who on earth has Scotland ended up with such a beast ruling over us?

    65. Andy says:

I wonder what Squirrel Sturgeon will release to counter this?

    66. sarah says:

@ Tartan Tory: the long letter in yesterday’s National asked for an explanation of why Alex is doing what he is. And other letters/comments said it will be his fault if we don’t get independence!

What fools they are. And how craven the National is – they sat at the trial and know the truth. Why don’t they say as much as they are allowed to, and not print nonsense from their readers?

    67. ScottieDog says:

Surprised no one has got it yet..

      Alex is now Alexa..

    68. sarah says:

@ Alison Brown: “I’ve known for months..”

I wish you’d hinted before – would have saved a lot of depression all over Scotland!

    69. Willie Jay says:

      Kenny says:
      26 March, 2021 at 1:34 pm

“.. and maybe – just maybe – I’ll go back onto Twitter again, cos it was a fricken sewer the last time sewer-morals conned a ‘positive’ outcome from a guilty-as-suspected verdict.”

You’re a better man than I am, Kenny, if you venture into that turgid, immoral sewer again. I’ve been in – out – in -out and for the past few months I have been *OUT* of Tw@tter with a capital “O”.
It does take a wee while for the withdrawal symptoms to dissipate but the end result is well worth it. (I said earlier I have been “doon” a bit due to the present Scottish political scenario, but by crikey, had I still been on Tw@tter, I rather think my current funeral plan would have come into force.

N.B. I am *NOT* wishing to make light of *anyone’s* possible mental problems in todays day-today life, but I can honestly say that the sheer impossibility of having anywhere near a reasonable discussion on *ANY* subject on that poisonous platform simply drags one down to their levels.

In the old days of Usenet, I remember an oft quoted piece of advice:
“Don’t get down in the dirt and wrestle with a pig. You will only end up covered in muck, and besides, the pig enjoys it!”

As true today as it was all those years ago.

      @lollysmum

      Yes all welcome lol.
tbh, I bake for my teens when I am off duty but any excuse to have wine and a bit of cheer at the moment.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic to have a Wings get-together when lockdown is over?

    71. Mike Fenwick says:

Independence Live – all set up and about to go live – and now you can watch the end of all the speculation.

    72. Al-Stuart says:

      .
      Hi Garrion,

I love your quote. Also you do have a point about being in the weeds wi Dreghorn monkey girl hummin at the organ.

But mind this was the Alex Salmond who took the YES movement from 23% to 45% in 2014.

He has been absolutely quiet for the duration of the Hellish stitch-up, but I bet you this much…

Every SNP MP and MSP along with small Ian Small, Wee Ginger Fud, and a dose of the Sturgeonite McWokeists will be so glued to the television in 4 minutes time that there noses will be stuck on the glass.

Put the Rt Hon Alex Salmond in front of a microphone and on our tv screens for the next 7 weeks and he WILL HAVE 20 PRO INDY MSPs holding the balance of power and holding First Minister Angus Robertson’s feet to the fire.

Time to keep the SNP honest. That means cleaning out all the excrement.

      Thank you Alex.

      Game on.

P.S Stu. You might need to adjust your autocorrect so that the word A L B A Does not appear as Alba or something Ceasar.

    79. Kenny says:

      Yes!

Let’s get the wheels rolling again!

      Thanks, Alex!

    80. Kenny says:

      Go-on, Chris McEleny!

    81. John H. says:

      Goodbye unionist parties at Holyrood.

    82. WeeChid says:

So what happens to AFI and ISP?

    83. Ian McCubbin says:

It’s the Alba Party for Independence, SNP have real trouble now just like new Labour had 🙂

    84. Ian McCubbin says:

      Oops the Alba Party

    85. ClanDonald says:

The SNP have lost some great people to the Alba party today.

But I’m so disappointed they’re standing in the South of Scoltand region, putting Joan McAlpine’s seat as risk. What a shame.

    86. Luigi says:

      “A Super Majority for Independence!”

What a message. This is certainly going to stir things up.

      Yessssss!

    87. Ian McCubbin says:

Can’t take the smile off my face. Breath of fresh air.

Here’s hoping too that all our List Parties can do the grown up thing and come together as one.

    97. Athanasius says:

      Cat. Among. Pigeons.

    98. Douglas says:

AS to the rescue. Hope he has someone standing in my area, that will ease my concerns about how I cast my vote.

Would love to have seen NS face when she found out.

    99. ClanDonald says:

*Alba – some pish autocorrect comes up with

    100. Liz says:

      Well that was unexpected.
      Good candidates.
Glad Chris McEleney made the move, he was getting nowhere in the SNP.

    101. Jason Smoothpiece says:

Well he has done it where do I sign up to join the party.

Is that screaming I hear from Bute House?

    102. Mia says:

      Yes!!!!!!!

    103. Stephen Welsh (XY) says:

      Fuck Yeah!!!!

    104. Giesabrek (the original) says:

Stu, how come Alba was a one-word and was being auto changed to Caesar?

    105. Jason Smoothpiece says:

      Breeks

You are completely correct all new party’s need to stand as one and with Alex in charge they will be on to a winer

    106. Mark Boyle says:

An Alba Party was registered with the Electoral Commission in February, with Mr Laurie Flynn (the journalist and corruption buster?) as its leader and Ms Audrey Mumford as its treasurer.

I doubt it. Alba will attract more votes than AFI / ISP since they are relatively unknowns.

On the bright side, it just might screw up the Greens.

    112. DHall says:

I was as big a supporter of AS back in the day as you could be. But this … Jesus. Humility and self-awareness are really not his thing, are they?

If you’re trying to suggest you are able to be some kind of credible force in politics in 2021 the first thing you’d do is teach your people how to actually sound even slightly convincing whilst speaking on camera … and maybe switch the lights on while you’re making an historic speech.

      “Supermajority” … jesus

    113. Mia says:

“But I’m so disappointed they’re standing in the South of Scoltand region, putting Joan McAlpine’s seat as risk”

She can do what Mr McEleny did and stand for the new party instead.

    114. Willie Clark says:

Excellent!…best news I’ve had all week

    115. Beaker says:

      Just noticed the autocorrect 🙂

Now mopping tea off my desk…

    116. McLaurin says:

      Stu’s up now

    117. Ian Mac says:

Thank god for the promise of some sanity and integrity restored to Scottish politics. It will inevitably be a bumpy ride, and maybe a less than stellar start, but for the long haul of the restoration of a serious indy movement it is essential.

Watch the fur fly as Nikla and her mobsters smear and lie about Alex.

    118. Luigi says:

      Breeks,

Indeed – if the ISP and AFI members really have independence as their priority (as opposed to personal gain), they will join with Alba.

    119. Skip_NC says:

Is it just me or are there technical difficulties with hearing the questions? I am watching on Independence Live.

    120. A C Bruce says:

It wasn’t exactly slick was it. How many indyref parties is that now – 3 or 4?

    121. Luigi says:

How come every time I type “Alba”, it posts as “Caesar”?

      Somebody is playing with WoS.

      Naughty.

    122. Morag says:

But I’m so disappointed they’re standing in the South of Scoltand region, putting Joan McAlpine’s seat as risk. What a shame.

I’m not sorry. If the SNP had honoured members’ rankings on the list Joan would have headed the list and I would have voted SNP on the list. But they allowed that wee cheat Emma Harper to leapfrog into first position by bleating about her diabetes, despite her having managed to secure election in the past without playing the disability card.

She also leapfrogged over Paul Wheelhouse, who has a more serious disability than diabetes, but who refused to “self-identify” as disabled because, yes, he had succeeded in getting elected in the past without needing to play the disability card.

Emma is woke and will sell her sisters down the river. She is at the top of the list by a blatant cheat, and I will not vote SNP on the list with her on the top. No way.

So I’m glad to have alternatives. She’s poison, and at the top of the list she poisons all list votes.

    123. Quoth the Raven says:

Class versus potted heid, as my old dad used to say. Scotland can get trounced tonight at rugby for all I care! Celebrating tonight.

    124. Lulu Bells says:

    125. ScottieDog says:

      Shame about the sound

    126. Luigi says:

Rev – when A.L.L.B.B.A.A. is typed, it is coming up as “Caesar”.

      Anyone else noticed this?

    127. Morag says:

Is it just me or are there technical difficulties with hearing the questions? I am watching on Independence Live.

      It’s not just you.

    128. Onwards says:

      Finally.

      SNP 1
      ALBA 2

Supermajority possible without having to pander to toxic green woke nonsense.

    129. Kev says:

Jeez youtube sort your sound out eh! Just missed Stu’s question to Alex!

    130. Luigi says:

Maybe we should type “BLABA Party” so it wont change type as “Caesar”

Someone is very worried to go to this trouble.

      HA HA HA

Let’s hope so – otherwise none of them will get anywhere.

    132. Skip_NC says:

Cheers Lulu Bells and Morag. Next task for me is to find out if someone overseas is eligible to join and restrictions on donations.

    133. McDuff says:

He was very statesman like as usual and is devoted to independence unlike Sturgeon which is probably why you don’t like him

    134. Republicofscotland says:

Just caught the tail end of Alex speaking about his new indy party ALBA, its very good news.

Meanwhile Craig Murray’s blog is back up and running.

    135. Alastair Naughton says:

Genuine question for the Rev.: A few of us on the pages of the National agree with yourself that independence will NEVER happen while the current incumbent and her entire cabal is still in place. She really has buillt up a cult following. Before anything can happening, there needs to be a complete draining of the swamp. BUT we cannot let the Tories in, otherwise Holyrood will just get shut down. Could Wings in some way be involved in supporting a move against her? Who could lead it? It would take serious bottle, but someone must come forward for this to happen. And it would require the support of someone with the backbone of yourself to support it.

    136. megs says:

I’ve already signed up and donated. I’m glad this is happing, the SNP needs a party to hold their feet to the fire on independence and protecting women and children

    137. Breeks says:

Even if the List Parties cannot come together as one, then it must be hoped they can at least promote themselves as a single coalition which benefits from one umbrella for identifiable marketing.

And while not a Gael myself, I do know that A(lba) in Gaelic is pronounced Alapba, not Al-ba, but a wee acknowledgement of that wouldn’t go amiss.

Hopefully too, Rev Stu can take the “Ceasar” off the filter, because I think a lot of people will want to use the ‘A’ word…

    138. crazycat says:

      @ Luigi

The word A-l-b-a has been being changed to Caesar! for years on this site.

I and others have repeatedly explained that this is to deter people from signing off with the slogan S-a-o-r A-l-b-a.

The first half is changed to “Hail”.

    139. Mark Boyle says:

There’s a wee part of me hoping beyond hope that the whole AFI and ISP pishfest was part of some remarkable bluff to keep Sturgeon and her winged monkeys unaware what was really going on too, and that any moment now they’re going to flourish their cloaks and twirl glue on moustaches for the cameras, says “hahahahahaha, gotcha Sturgeon – didn’t see that one coming”, and telling everyone to vote for the ALBA Party which they were all working for incognito.

But I may as well wish for the return of Third Lanark to Senior football – it’s the more likely.

    140. frogesque says:

Still ISP 2 for me so far but not set in quicksand. Will see how things shape up over the next week or so. Plenty time yet.

And for good measure, actual SNP candidates already defecting.

That is how you launch a political party.

Expect the anti-Salmond stuff to reach fever pitch. He is by far the biggest threat to the UK since 1707. Just like that, its game on!!!

    155. JGedd says:

Agree entirely with Morag. Emma Harper is standing in our constituency. When her leaflet arrived, it went straight in the bin. Sorry about Joan McAlpine and also Paul Wheelhouse, who took an entirely honourable stance. This is fantastic news. Imagine 5 years of Alex grilling the Sturge on the continual non-progress on Independence and calling out the wokerati crazy agendas and non-progress on raising educational standards and the systemic corruption within the Crown Prosecution Office and the Civil Service.

      Happy, happy days.

Malevolent and vindictive corruption should never be rewarded with your vote.

NO VOTES SNP, on May 6th.

      Plenty votes ALBA.

    161. Skip_NC says:

OK, so I’ve been looking at the new party’s website. I am, as many here know, in the USA and have no voting rights in Scotland or, indeed the UK. I can find no way of contacting the party to find out what I can donate. I imagine a monthly membership would keep me well below any threshold (less than GBP500 sticks in my mind) but I would like to be sure. Does anyone know what the rules are?

    162. panda paws says:

And here is the Alba website.

    166. Luigi says:

The Greens are currently in meltdown. So predictable.

I’m no legal expert, but Ross Greer seems to be on very thin ice with his awful words and smearing of AS. Desperate stuff.

    167. Famous15 says:

Greer of the Greens greeting on Sky.

He overused the word disgraced so often it convinced me to support Alba.

    168. TNS2019 says:

      Lovely flanking manoeuvre, AS.
Wonder what impact this might have on the Greens and on the balance of power at HR?
It would be ironic if ALBA started to hold the SNP to account where the current opposition has failed and in splitting the indy vote, to ensure that the rule of law and normal democratic processes wre restored.
The SNP monopoly has been dangerous for some time but the recent decline in public standards has been frightening.
This has just made what was going to be a very depressing election much more interesting.

    169. Pixywine says:

The SNP should beware of Octavius.

    170. Chas says:

If I was Alex I would be very reluctant to accept any of the current jellyfish which make up the SNP MSP’s into the new party. They have shown their true colours already. Spineless.

    171. Mark Boyle says:

      @ Big Jock

      https://www.albaparty.org

Have just emailed them about a type on the website.

    172. Cath says:

I wonder if Richard Murphy might stand as a candidate? He was on the Alex Salmond show a few weeks ago talking about his support for independence and wondering whether he might move up to Scotland. I thought then, if there is a new list party…would he? He has loads of good economic ideas and has trashed GERS.

    173. Pixywine says:

      Ross Greer. Hahahahahahahahahahahaho.

    174. Harry mcaye says:

Sorry if I’m being dim, how is Joan McAlpine’s seat at risk with this, she’s standing for the constituency, isn’t she?

    175. Luigi says:

So this seems to be the expected Yoon-Green-SNP alliance dialogue in response to filling their pants:

      “Disgraced former FM”
      “Less popular than BJ”
      “Fringe party”
      “Nothing to say”
      “Salmond’s Revenge”
      “Bad for women”

      Blah Blah Blah

      Coming soon. 🙂

    176. Douglas says:

Just listened to a Green party spokesman on BBC news. Seemed to be in a panic, guess he’s pretty worried about Alba’s effect on them. This, for me, is the first good news day for a while.

    177. PhilM says:

Does Ross Greer realise what an utter nobody he is?
Never won an election. Never had a proper job. No academic qualifications. Just a talking head with nothing original to say.
Vote Chris McEleny in and let Ross finish his degree.
      Win. Win!!!

    178. Skip_NC says:

Mark Boyle, where is the e-mail address on their website, other than the data protection one.

    179. James MacNicoll says:

Just watched that “green”msp slagging Salmond off, kidding himself on as according to him Salmond is a spent force and will not have any effect on the election, not going to win it but bound to effect the votes the other parties get, hopefully especially the greens.

    180. Indy says:

Hey, could wings rehash the article on utilising the wasted list votes? So many already questioning the legitimacy of the Alba Party claims.

    181. WeeChid says:

    182. Indy says:

      Alba Party* (Weird autocorrect).

    183. JGedd says:

      Harry mcaye

Joan McAlpine’s seat presently is a list seat. Tories got the constituency.

    184. Indy says:

      What’s going on? I clearly wrote A L B A P A R T Y but it changes!?

    185. Sharny Dubs says:

      Forget Sturgeon she’s yesterday’s news.

Alex has pointed the way, now time to get the shoulder to the wheel and don’t get distracted by dumb assed squirrels

    186. Trans gammon says:

Time for AFI and ISP to get on the Salmond train.

    187. Robert Louis says:

This is wonderful news. I am literally jumping with joy.

      It is interesting to note just how rattled some supposedly pro independence parties are behaving. Just a few minutes ago, Ross Greer, when interviewed on SKY news, said;

QUOTE “This is the very public meltdown of a disgraced has-been.”

He then continued to smear Alex with innuendo and suggested wrongdoing of some unspecified kind.

To hear such words coming from a political nobody, is truly indicative of the contempt which people like Ross Greer and the Green party have for the people of Scotland AND the independence movement.

Just remember what Ross Greer has said, when you cast your second vote. No second green votes ever, ever again.

Perhaps when Ross Greer has held an actual elected MP seat for more then twenty years, actually COMPLETED an honours degree, actually worked as an oil economist, actually won an MSP seat by election (and not because he is chums with folk), actually been First Minister of Scotland winning successive elections, actually lead a political party, actually gained a MAJORITY in the Scots Parliament, Actually gained a section 30, actually held a Scottish independence referendum, THEN, and only then might I even consider taking the wee jobby seriously.

Anyway, this is great news. I didn’t leave the SNP, the SNP left me, it seems Alex Salmond thinks the same.

26th March 2021, remember this date. The return of the king.

    188. Robert Louis says:

      Trans gammon at 247pm,

      Totally agree.

    189. WeeChid says:

“Sorry if I’m being dim, how is Joan McAlpine’s seat at risk with this, she’s standing for the constituency, isn’t she?”

But she has never won the constituency – only the list and is now number two on the list because of the preferential treatment given to woke diabetic Emma Harper.

Oliver Mundell is the current constituency MSP and garners votes by sucking up to old ladies in care homes – his electioneering might have been damaged due to Covid restrictions this year.

    190. Republicofscotland says:

Hopefully this will lead to the Greens losing seats at Holyrood, List votes should be Alba, AFI and ISP, not Greens or SNP.

    191. Gordon Currie says:

What an orator, and a master stroke having you up 3rd Rev!

    192. ScottieDog says:

His comments are likely to help the SNP on the constituency

    193. Karen says:

Hello, hello, how do you do? We are the folkz in saltire blue …

    194. ALANM says:

      @Luigi

Leaving aside the legalities, you need to ask yourself why didn’t the sky news presenter challenge his comments about Alex Salmond? Is it simply because sky believes image is more important than ability when it comes to selecting their news presenters or are they now official broadcasting partners to the Scottish Greens?

    195. INDEPENDENT says:

That’s the quandary sorted for the ballot
      SNP 1
      Alba 2
Then when the super majority of INDEPENDENCE MSPs are elected and the bench warmers are out the door, aye that’s Torys, Red Torys, LibDums and Woke Greens all virtually neutered.

Just heard that Ross Greer denigrating Alex Salmond on Sky, oh how we will laugh when they are all kicked off the gravy train.

    196. shiregirl says:

    207. Mia says:

“to keep Sturgeon and her winged monkeys unaware what was really going on”

Sturgeon’s and the British state’s desperation and frantic attempts to smear Mr Salmond and keep him off politics means they knew for quite some time this was going to happen.

    208. Kev says:

I had just joined the ISP a few weeks ago too. Now absolutely clueless , I wish they would all join forces somehow.

    209. Spikethedee says:

Is it being overly cynical to note that ALBA would appear at or near the top of an alphabetical party list??!!

    210. Anthony Armstrong says:

It was like amateur hour, the weans get better from their schools.

    211. sarah says:

@ Rev: what about AFI? They have just declared their list of candidates. Surely they could have joined in with Alba?

    212. kapelmeister says:

LOL. Pension Pete has tweeted that the new party can’t pronounce Alba properly. He’s going to post a song later, he says, that’ll give the correct pronunciation….that’s right, he’s going to Runrig us out of town.

Is that the best you can come up with Pete?

    213. Glenn Boyd says:

Stu – Fantastic news! At last a bright shining light in this darkest of political periods. Cometh the hour – cometh THE MAN! Bravo Alex.

    214. robertknight says:

      Kev @2:59

“I had just joined the ISP a few weeks ago too. Now absolutely clueless , I wish they would all join forces somehow.”

      I feel your pain!

    215. Republicofscotland says:

We must vote either ALBA ISP or AFI and in the process take out the Greens. for they prop up Sturgeon, remove them and one, or all of the List parties, can demand a push on independence from the SNP in return for their support.

    216. Billy Russell says:

Great news. To those asking what happens to the ISP, etc. I’m a member of ISP and will be resigning and supporting Alba.

I may even vote SNP1, something I been set against for a couple of years now.

    217. ahundredthidiot says:

      I’m so fucking happy today!!!!

    218. Beaker says:

Had a quick peek on social media, and Ross Greer has managed to heal the divide in Scotland, bringing unionists and nationalists (well most of them) together in agreement that he is a complete and utter pratt.

    219. holymacmoses says:

It’s up to Scottish people to show Mr Salmond that they care as much about independence as he does. I think this is a great day and I’m astonished that Mr Salmond has the energy after all he’s been through.

    220. ahundredthidiot says:

If Eck even hints SNP 1 – I will do it.

It remains a spoil for now though.

    221. Republicofscotland says:

We should also vote tactically, in regions where say ALBA stands but ISP or AFI doesn’t then the ALBA candidate should get the List vote. Or where ALBA isn’t standing the List vote should go to ISP or AFI, and so on.

Lets maximise the pro-indy List vote, that doesn’t include the SNP or the Greens, by using this technique.

    222. Mountain shadow says:

      New opinion poll fundraiser?

    223. Republicofscotland says:

“If Eck even hints SNP 1 – I will do it.”

Watch the press conference he did endorse the SNP for the constituency vote.

    224. ahundredthidiot says:

The Saviour of Scotland has stood up.

      Who else will follow?

    225. tricia young says:

At last, good news. I feel a little less despondent now.

    226. Alfred says:

Been on the website – disappointing it says vote for the SNP on the first vote and Alba on the list – no longer voting for the SNP

    227. Mist001 says:

If Alba have any sense, they’ll employ the Rev to run the media side of things. He has the experience, knowledge and savvy to run any kind of media campaign better than anyone else involved in Scottish politics.

We’re in with a shout, let’s not fuck it up. Get the right people in.

    228. Jim Tadgercock says:

Now no longer a member of the ISP. Anybody have a link for Alba so I can join.

    229. Robert Louis says:

So, there we have it, on the ALBA website, the strategy is exactly this, vote SNP on the first vote (constituency) and ALBA on the second. This will creat a pro indy supermajority.

This is such such good news. The First really good news for nearly two whole years. Join the ALBA party, let’s get
this done, and as it says on the website, a aupermajority for independence is the ONLY mandate needed to negotiate independence

      https://www.albaparty.org/supermajority

    230. John H. says:

They are terrified of him and they can’t hide it.The smears have started already (did they ever stop?) Of course ego is involved, it always is with politicians, and we can expect Alex Salmond to be decried for that. He has the interests of the Scottish people at heart though, and he has ability.

Hopefully the other independence list parties will swallow their pride and unite with ALBA. Together they can deliver real clout at Holyood.

    231. Go Eck!

Would love to see the look on Nicola’s face, lol!

But it looks as though Eck’s willing to work with Nic – let’s hope Nic reciprocates.

    232. Ruby says:

Where can I catch up with all of this?

Can I tell Bonnie Prince Bob he’s chucked?

    234. Robert Louis says:

Some folk might like to know, if quick enough, you can become a founder member of the ALBA party..check the party website.

    235. Ruby says:

The Abba Party – The Winner Takes it all.

    236. Hatuey says:

Brilliant news, but I’ll never vote SNP as long as the little scheming fruitcake is leader.

    237. John H says:

Patrick Harvie was promised a ministers position in the next SG for voting in the VONC for NS, but he has to be elected to collect. What are the chances of that now !!!

    238. Glenn Boyd says:

And just to add to the proceedings we have the likes of Ross “Ginger Fuckwit” Greer slagging off Alex. Laugh? I almost cracked a rib! Dear oh Dear.

If Alba have any sense, they’ll employ the Rev to run the media side of things. He has the experience, knowledge and savvy to run any kind of media campaign better than anyone else involved in Scottish politics.

We’re in with a shout, let’s not fuck it up. Get the right people in.

Makes total sense – I agree.

    240. Craig P says:

Well, that’s the list vote sorted 🙂

    241. Robert Louis says:

      Robbo at 312pm,

Aye, thoroughly disgraceful from a talentless wee jobby. I guess he has just realised the unqualified and non-experienced gravy train he has been on frae school, has just come to a shuddering halt. Not many wee boys his age with NO QUALIFICATIONS get paid 65K a year. Nae wonder he is so bitter and lashing out.

I think, in time, both he and the Green party will come to regret their behaviour today.

    243. tricia young says:

Anyone got a link to sign up to Alba.

    244. Ian Brotherhood says:

Have just signed-up on the £5 a month, straightforward enough but sluggish, must be sheer volume.

      😉

    245. Robert Louis says:

      Hatuey at 315pm,

Well, that will be stupid then, since their will be no pro indy super majority without the SNP. I despise NS, but WILL now definitely vote SNP on the first vote and ALBA on the second, to make sure the ALBA candidate gets elected on the list.

    247. A Person says:

I haven’t visited this site for a couple of weeks, I was that depressed with the state of Scottish politics. This has cheered me right up.

Alex Salmond might not be to every taste. But he’s a patriot and a believer in both his country’s freedom and individual freedom.

I will be proud to vote for him, and I hope he is successful.

    248. Stoker says:

I’m ecstatic! A pro-indy political party i can support with all my heart & conscience and my favourite 2 pro-indy sites in WOS and https://indyposterboy.scot/internal-trade-bill-powergrab/

I’m all politically tooled up again so bring it on. We now need a clearly set out voting guide for each area. And i don’t think we should be promoting the Greens as a first OR second vote anywhere.

At least now if we achieve the majority and a referendum is held, or indy declared LOL!, there will now be folk involved in making sure London does not ride us rotten.

PS: I’ve already blocked one snp arsehole on twitter less than 10-minutes after Salmond’s announcement for his negative attack on Salmond & the Alba Party. And that’s *EXACTLY* what i’ll be doing with *ALL* negative snp sycophants.

Aye! A week really is a long time in politics.

    249. Robert Louis says:

I’m in. Looking forward to the launch. Suddenly independence is within sight again, and now we have a goal. Hold your nose, vote SNP on 1st vote, and ALBA on the second, and get a pro independence supermajority – potentially with ALBA as second biggest party in the Scots Parliament.

    250. Anton Decadent says:

Re Greer, when people were trying to make political careers via publicity trips to Greek beaches (Humza Yousef did one too) Greer took himself over and said that God had told him to open Europes borders, I’m being entirely serious here, same was as Blairs ‘God told me that I’d done nothing wrong’.

These people are globalists and there is some serious money behind them, expect the flak around AS to become really intense.

What are the possibilities of Alba as a future coalition partner with SNP?

    251. Roger says:

I hope now than the ISP and AFI will gracefully accept that the Alba Party – cos AS is leading it – is the only serious List party in town.

My bet is J Cherry will also join…maybe a few more.

    252. Stuart MacKay says:

Joined. A few bugs in the web site for us living out of the country but it worked well enough.

What a fantastic end to the week. Made my year!

    253. robbo says:

Who will rise to the banner !

    254. Jim Tadgercock says:

It is not every day you become a founder member of a political party. Time to open the Dalwhinnie.

    255. Sharny Dubs says:

Can someone please post a link to the new Alba Party website, I’ve tried several different searches and keep coming up with bla bla news announcements

    256. Robert Louis says:

      Stoker at 321pm,

Aye, me too. Excellent, excellent news, though some on here seem to think they can just not bother voting SNP. That won’t work, as is laid out on the ALBA website. 1st vote SNP, 2nd vote ALBA.

    257. Allium says:

So refreshing to actually hear talk about independence, lol.

    259. North chiel says:

Great news today . Will any disillusioned former or current SNP parliamentarians “ defect” to join up with Alex Salmond ?

    260. Wally Jumblatt says:

Welcome news of course, but this doesn’t not mean the removal of Nicola and the Harpies.
Is AS is genuinely saying vote for your independence candidate to win the constituency, and vote ALBA fot he 56 other seats, he is telling people to mostly vote SNP

      |He should just have said vote for the best candidate in your constituency and leave it at that.

There are a lot of people who still think vote SNP and hope to remove Kranie by stealth or consensus.
You can’t eradicate Stugeonism in that way, you have to confront it, defeat it and humiliate it. After that you can be conciliatory if you must.

So, do not vote for pro-Sturgeon candidates for MSP, and let the chips fall where they may.

The future is going to be won with an alliance of all colours of the political spectrum, not by the fanatics but by the moderates.

    261. Now a founder member cool.

    262. JimuckMac says:

Great news, and welcome back Mr Salmond. Whatever will happened to that Cabinet post promised to Harvie?

    263. McDuff says:

Ross Greer of the greens just been interviewed on Sky and spent almost the entire time disparaging AS with poison, the hate was unbelivable to the extent the interviewer had to caution him.
Even after all thats happened i am astonished at at the venom these people possess.

    264. Sunshine says:

I dont think it will be long before three or four MPs defect to the new party either.
The guy is definately 6 moves ahead of most politicians.

    265. Daisy Walker says:

Abba fans everywhere – althogether now

And its a – Super Duper Scottish Indy Party
      Now that Alex’s back
      Indy’s back on track
      Lowering the Union Jack

    266. Rev. Stuart Campbell says:

“It was like amateur hour, the weans get better from their schools.”

It did at least improve later on, but yeah, total fuckup for the big launch moment.

    267. Stuart MacKay says:

      > It did at least improve later on, but yeah, total fuckup for the big launch moment.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let’s see how’d you’d do after 2 years of hell. Sorry, needed saying.

    268. Ruby says:

“It was like amateur hour, the weans get better from their schools.”

Have schools not got long established taxpayer funded IT departments?

Is that the Boris that said Muslim women look like letter boxes?

He is also up their on protecting women, the guy who had the police
called around when he refused to get off his current partner nor leave
      her hone when screened at.

Who on earth has Scotland ended up with such a beast ruling over us?”

Still following the old rancid line eh? Not a SINGLE positive line about the topic [as usual]

Time to wake up and smell the coffee.

The SNP and it’s leadership are about to be consigned to the garbage bin.

They’ll find you there already, mind.

    270. Richard says:

Apart from a possible pro Indy majority in Holyrood, what changes ? By the sounds of it AS is going down the sec30 route too

    271. akenaton says:

Sorry to rain on the parade, but Alex has made a miscalculation, the Sturgeonites are still strong in many parts of the country.
Women dislike him and middle aged women in particular. The young people don’t know him or regard him as a yesterday’s man.
Wokery has taken a strong hold everywhere and i think we may be talking to ourselves here.
As I said earlier the whole apparatus needs to be dismantled and re-assembled…. as someone once said, “the levers, the gears and the wheels”. Better to completely expose the criminals, tell all he knows to the press and the courts, they will never be moved by a political joust, expose them and let the people tell them to go.
