New blogroll additions
We’ve added a couple of new sites to the UK Politics section of our links column. The Green Benches is a resource we’ve kept an eye on for a few months now, and while its direct relevance to Scotland is quite small, its informed insider view of the true havoc being wreaked on the National Health Service in England and Wales is a warning of what we can expect in the future should we choose to remain in One Nation Britain and let any of the London parties take control of Holyrood.
The Void is a site we’ve been reading for even longer, and fulfils a similar purpose to The Green Benches, except covering welfare reform rather than NHS reform. The language can be a little adult, but the level of hard data is phenomenal, reporting things that never get near the mainstream media. With welfare still reserved to Westminster, there’s stuff in here you simply have to know if you are, or might one day become, or know anyone who is, unemployed, low-paid or sick.
Check them both out. Don’t have anything breakable to hand.
I thoroughly reccommend the Green Benches.
His articles are very informative and where he does make mistakes he acknowledges and publishes them.
The really interesting articles are the ones where he exposes which bits of the NHS are set for privatisation /have been privatised / or are incapable of now being returned to public ownership i.e. stealth privatisation.
DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE….
OT: I was logged on to see what Kall Kay(e) was up to and at 9.00 the line dropped and I got the message, “Due to rights reasons this is not available on a world wide stream.” WTF????
OK, I appreciate that the programme is usually shite, but what is the BBC doing?
I give up in despair. Yet another nail in the BBC coffin for non-UK resident listeners. “Rights reasons”! Bah! Well I suppose anyone in the ‘right’ mind probably wouldn’t listen anyway. I shall have to keep in touch with Scottish events some other way.
Why you’d think Radio Scotland was a good way of keeping in touch with the reality of Scottish affairs is beyond me! 🙂 if you’re here you’re probably in the best place anyway!
@Dave
I agree, but it is useful to know what your enemy is doing. 😉
Alba gu snooker loopy!
Green Benches not looking too impressive at the moment – unless this is meant ironically:
“An apology to Virgin Care for inaccurate articles I have written and published “
So, Her Grace is attending a cabinet meeting at No 10 for the first time in her reign? Interesting, it suggests to a slightly paranoid individual like myself that something unusual is afoot.
Vronsky – looks a bit like the lawyers have called and said “this is what you’ll be publishing today.”
Dr Eoin Clarke of Greenbenches hasn’t covered himself in glory recently, given the number of grovelling apologies he’s had to make, his credibility must be questioned. Will you be linking to Johann Hari next?
RE. greenbenches…Must admit, read the whole story and Dr Eoin Clarke doesn’t really look as if he apologised for anything!!
Thanks for the links, particularly ‘void’. Couldn’t close the bloody thing, just had to keep reading!
Now tapping this from my hospital bed with blood pressure 900 over 880!
