But, but my mother is a Baroness..

    ‘For life’- was also reported.

The ‘baroness’ (no capitals) is also reported to have said to the effect that – you useless MPs will be out next election – despite doing sterling work for the Scottish people (my words).

    @Morgatron,

You took me back decades with “Hairy Mary”, who was a regular on the Gascube Rd where I grew up. She was actually very nice.

She was indeed a Glasgow legend, but a real one, who along with the back yard “singers”, contributed to an incredible experience for a young Glaswegian.

Miss Mone could never have coped with what Hairy Mary and her fur coat endured on a daily basis.

I still remember Hamish Imlach immortalising her in “The cod liver oil and the Orange juice”

It is human nature to make fun of a fool but this fool and her ilk are blocking the way to the most obviously sane future for Scotland.

Why are they like that is because they are shallow, self centred buffoons.

How do you change their minds can only be by taking them to the abyss and looking down. Many of them would deny even that reality.

Lisrening on the bus and in the pub makes me realise that many have now looked over the edge and the dream is nearing reality.I just love innocently starting that conversation and letting them come to their own dawning awareness.

Imagine saying bringing up a child is the same as having a dog.Bringing up a child is much more expensive. Reported £250,000+ A dog doesn’t need more clothes every year. An education etc. What an idiot.

The tests at 5 years old were brougt in because of the demands by unionists for more testing. The unionists councils are using the statutory limit (30) to keep class sizes high. Then try and cut allocated funding from education. Cut additional needs provision. They are spending public money building shops, offices and hotels. There are shops and offices sitting empty and under occupied hotels. They should be building schools and houses. The Scottish Gov should reduce the statutory education limit.

” … I just love innocently starting that conversation and letting them come to their own dawning awareness.”

And that, Famous15, is absolutely the most efficient method I know, from a lifetime of political campaigning for independence, of changing perspectives.

If you downright oppose a unionists concepts they will dig-in and do their damnedest to prove their long help beliefs are right and yours are wrong.

If, however, you, “innocently”, plant a wee seed of doubt, that carries with it a grain of truth, the wee seed of doubt will grow and they will mentally begin to question their former belief.

The thing is they wont even realise that you had anything to do with their change of belief imagining themselves to have cleverly, “thought things through”, by themselves.

It is, after all human nature to defend your beliefs against your perceived foe and in doing so the subliminal, “Oh! Look – A Squirrel”, mental process distracts them from accepting the truth.

The whole thing of ‘Poverty Safari’ must be the most disgusting idea for a tv programme ever. There’s a place in hell for those who made it, for entertainment. It’s like the 19thC all over again, only with tv to boot. Sickening.

I’m sure Ken500 can answer for himself, Artyhetty, but I took him to mean the recommended class sizes. I’m not sure but I believe it is ab SG set target and not statutory thng.

On Twitter a hilarious conversation between Paul Mason and Kenny (once might have been somebody) Farq.

Basically we should vote for Labour so we can then ask permission from Labour to do things we can do for ourselves, now, and fully as an Independent country. His plan doesn’t mention the Tories, who run the UK most of the time or Labour who wouldn’t agree to giving anything, because they had the chance and refused it.

When the Labour party talk of federalism it is not to enhance the powers Scotland has. It is to remove the idea of Scotland as a nation and try and embed the idea of it just being another region of the UK. Wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to remove Scottish sovereignty as part of any federalising legislation.

Never trust Labour, it’s all about the ermine for many of them.

Apart from that it is never going to happen, not in any meaningful way anyway. Westminster would never give up controlling the real powers of the UK.

Poverty safari, apart from the premise of the programme itself it’s the word *Safari* that bothers me and what kind of person or people thought that filming folk in poverty is somehow similar to venturing into a jungle or the bush full of strange things and beings nobody has ever seen before like something out of David Livingstone and that’s when people should perk their ears up and realise it’s not about the poor or the disadvantaged it’s a reality show for the wealthy presenter to Ooh and Ahh and make sympathetic noises at the camera whilst barely disguising their smirking sarcasm at poor folk not going out and *damn well working* like the viewer at home who’s paying for their benefits because the government is soft on shirkers

These type of programmes only exist because of the Zoo like behaviour of the viewer to stare through the bars of other folks cages and allow themselves to be drawn in to the producers snare of the workshy innuendo but always beginning the show with the *Oh dear how sad* moving to the *government should do more* then on to the usual full blown *bloody fag smoking drinking probably drug taking wasters living off the state and there are squillions of them*

There are many unpleasant ways to make a living and making programmes like this is most definitely one of them

Also one of the reasons for baby boxes is to reduce infant mortality mainly in the poorest quarters. They undermine limits on child support.

    O/T

Has anybody had the same experience as myself re comments on The Herald?

On several occasions I have posted deliberately provocative comments frequently demolishing the article content and expecting reactions and follow up comments.

However, what has happened frequently when I have done that is that no further comments on that item appear presumably because my provocative comment doesn’t suit The Herald’s political agenda.

It has happened again today. Early this morning I posted a provocative comment on the British Transport Police story.

Immediately after I posted the comment there was a total of 11 comments on the story. It is now 13.25 and the comments still sit at 11 with 0 replies to my original comment.

I may be wrong but it would appear that the buggers are blocking further input to this item without their usual ‘comments on this are suspended’ message.
