I went against the grain and did not support the appeal because (rightly) believed that the initial verdict was going to be as good as would be given.
Plus more money and years of time wasted whilst drawn into a negative debilitating stress inducing process is just a distraction and takes the wind out of the sails when we could have been doing much more positive work to progress the bigger picture cause.

Alex’s close Scottish and well remunerated associates didn’t even use their parliamentary privileged positions (when they had those positions) to progress justice for him when he was alive. Instead leaving it to English Conservative MP David Davis.

I don’t agree. I think we need to do everything possible, not only to get justice for Alex, but to expose the criminal tractors who ruined his reputation and tried to jail him, and in so doing set back our progress towards independence by years. If this battle was worth fighting to Alex, it ought to be worth fighting to us all. I have very little money to spare, but I would certainly contribute what I could to a crowdfunder as a token of my support. The greater the number of independence supporters who are enabled to do that, the more powerful the message that will be sent.

To my mind, people who would like to see an Independent Scotland all come from different points on the same compass.

3)There are those who like the thought of Independence but would prefer to have an idea how that could affect them in their day to day existence. Jobs/pensions/security/standard of living/health service/currency/divvy up of UK assets and Liabilities etc are some of the many things that need clarified. Nobody is tackling these issues.
4)Then there are those who are open to persuasion but await with interest, which is rapidly fading, on clarification of points raised in 3)
Those who appear in 1) and 2) are driven by grievance which clearly clouds their judgement.
As far as I can see those posts which are very negatively rated and contain abuse are simply individuals responding to personal attacks from those mainly in section 1) above. I’m in the subset of category 3) that looks at how everything has gone backwards in Scotland over the past decade, and decides that while past performance is no guide to future results, lacking a complete change of personnel at the top, in this case it will be.

You know, important stuff like pensions, jobs, currency, defence, healthcare, NATO status, EU aspirations (if any) and how this would be prosecuted, the rUK likely liability and divorce bill (not just some swivel-eyed numpty with “lots of spare time” saying “wE wOulD’t hAv 2 pAy aNytHink”).

No one is DEMANDING proof of how they will be better off financially or socially but an indication of HOW would be helpful.
It is up to the Independence Movement to convince/persuade people to want change. If the SNP is an example, they are doing the exact opposite.
