The more you change nothing

Posted on April 10, 2025 by

…the more everything will stay the same.

The cash-strapped SNP might have slimmed down its staff roster lately, but it’s the same toxic blend of intolerance and incompetence it’s been for the last decade.

Ian McCann, of course, should need no introduction.

Jim Henderson, remarkably, remains in charge of fundraising despite having overseen the campaigns at the heart of Operation Branchform.

(And despite reports in the media some months ago that he’d quit the post.)

Shannon Donnelly, a liar (like close Nicola Sturgeon ally and wannabe MSP Sarah Masson), whose only previous life experience was as a supervisor in a clothes shop, remains Head Of Policy despite the spectacular trainwreck that SNP policy has been for the last decade, with unpopular failure piled on unpopular failure.

Readers may find Ricky Taylor’s name familiar.

And social media users aware of the party’s poisonous and notoriously abusive Twitler Youth wing will similarly recognise those of Leo Miklasz, Jessica Mennie (of the gruesome Mennie family, occasionally known as “Aaron-Mennie” when seeking a bit of electoral advantage) and Chris Jones.

(Although in fact almost everyone named in this article has now scrubbed or deleted their Twitter accounts, including Julie Hepburn.)

Almost all these people were in post five years ago. Presumably the SNP’s stellar successes in that period, during which its support has fallen from 56% to 32%, have convinced the party that they’re all indispensable.

We guess we’ll find out in time whether they’re capable of the change the SNP needs.

How about re-industrialisation for Scotland? Pumping the oil & gas. Opening a high-tech pit or two. Steel making. Fast track permissions for manufacturing. Industries giving our people jobs, prosperity, hope for the future, purpose, skills, self-confidence, even to the extent where we might have the guts and grow the pairs we will need to seize Indy?

Or is it going to be Nut Zero, everything offshored, and we apathetically sit on oor erses, waiting for the welfare credits to hit our online bank accounts.

Soon be May, then it’s just a year until the next HR election. I’m scanning the horizon daily, looking for smoke from the fire of the new political party/parties that are going to set the heather alight and drain the HR swamp in 2026.

Nope. They’re actually doubling down on everything. It is going to take a couple of generations to eliminate their rotten-to-the-core ideology from every public and private institution. They weaken business, they threaten workplace harmony, they see no contradiction in allowing Grangemouth and the N Sea oil industry to perish before any substitutes are in place, they care not how much money is wasted on their insane ‘green’ policies that are unworkable, they have no conscience to worry them when healthy children are maimed and taken out of the gene pool, they are monsters that would happily turn everything on its head in order to satisfy their mental ill-health, their psychopathy, their sociopathy, their narcissism and sadism.

Yet, some commentators still think we should be concentrating on the very things they are destroying without ever addressing why they are being destroyed or who is destroying them. Instead, they blame Westminster. Oh, yes, Westminster is to blame for a lot, but Scotland went overboard for these dimwits and cultural Marxists. We need to root them out now. It doesn’t actually matter if we do achieve independence or otherwise, because these creatures will destroy an independent Scotland in the same ways they are destroying a non independent Scotland.

We need to get our heads out of our nethers and start attacking the source rather than the symptom. Grangemouth was closed because it suited Westminster, but we had no real argument against it because we have the ‘green’ SNP and faux Greens who will do nothing to fight for independence, but everything to fight for ‘green ‘policies that are fiscally and physically impossible to achieve, while wasting billions on trying to achieve the impossible. They thought that Grangemouth was a price worth paying.

We have ‘green’ ports because we think – no, the ‘green’ SNP/ Greens actually believe – that this is our future when they are yet another Trojan Horse welcomed by our ‘woke’ government and civic authorities who have yet again not done their homework or even wondered why Westminster would give these their approval. They are constitutionally unable to see the wood for the trees.

The ‘woke’ are the very bane of our existence and they will do absolutely sweet fanny adams to advance independence because it is, fundamentally, not in their interests to do so. A happy, mentally healthy society does not need ‘woke’/’trans’ to exist. Given that independence is our only hope of avoiding economic and social slow death, they are the source of our ills that needs to be eliminated first, not in some halcyon future that they, daily, undermine with their cultural Marxist, post structural death cult.

    WELL

This hands complete power over to the Scottish government aka the SNP

And we all know by far the greatest threat to the people of Scotland is unionist agents and the evil unionist parties

To counter this the SNP will pass “emergency” powers

Rangers football club will be shut down and ibrox will be converted into immigrant housing

Balmoral will be seized and it will be used for the first minster

The SNP will then temporarily cancel elections to stop the unionist scum from seizing power

They will also use these emergency powers to jail those guilty of treason against the people of Scotland…no trials of course as the police are invaded by unionist agents

Due to the evil English not cooperating more powers will be needed to seize property of the rich landowners

and this will be welcomed by the faithful many of whom post on this board

    a while down the line

These temporary powers will become permanent

You’ll discover you are significantly less free then you are now

Hi Geri, I’ve had that facial recognition request a few days ago when I tried to join The Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand site to get in touch with old ship mates. I’d actually joined the site after being accepted, but within 30 minutes of looking through the sites photographs of old ships, I was told my membership had been cancelled for violation of their rules, which they refused to discuss, and if I wanted, I could appeal, which I did. They then requested a moving image of my face to prove I was a human. Alarm bells rang, so I just left the site and thought, that’s a bit sinister. My wife is on facebook, and occasionally sends me clips she thinks might interest me, and I used to be able to watch them, but now they want what you describe, a movlng image so they can capture me from different angles. Anyone who goes along with this stuff is much braver than me, but I’m glad to hear from you, Geri, as I know that it isn’t just me! I certainly don’t think I violated any rules, as I’d made no attempt to post anything on the site, I was just looking at the old ship photographs. It was quite tantalising to be allowed to see them for 30 minutes, then be chucked out……..bummer.

@ Geri and Charles Findlay: I suspect the demand for video selfies is so that they can use your image for AI purposes. They could create images of you saying or doing things you’ve never said or done. If it’s Facebook that’s doing this, that’s already the most toxic, manipulative, pointless social-media site there is. It doesn’t even facilitate meaningful communication, but does everything to limit and diminish it. I can’t understand why people insist on continuing to use that garbage site.

    • Dan says:

Last week with regard to the tariff “wars”, diabloandco asked just what do we import from the USA other than shit and heavy Harley Davidson motorbikes tractors.
Well in my view the most sinister and society dibilitating import is their social media platforms that way too many people seem addicted to.
The internet had the potential to develop into an incredible resource full of helpful beneficial information shared by knowledgeable people; However it has now become the host for a huge volume of total roasters with way too much time on their hands to spout their inane drivel on, which means the sensible content and ideas are now much harder to find, and you’ll have to factor in the inevitable price of your time and brain drain to screen the total roasters’ inane / distracting / disruptive “content” out of the equation.

Most addicts will never admit they have a problem but it’s plainly obvious to observe that social media has done a real number on society, where people and particularly children now spend so much of their time in cyberspace instead of doing more productive and rewarding stuff with the people they live with in their own locales.
Social media is the biggest divide and rule tool out there, why do you think they gave it to us for free when everything else you want you have to pay for…
Smart folk should be BDSing the hell out of it.

        And vice versa.

        And there’s the rub.

What we import from the USA may well be shit, but it’s defo what defines our culture.

A wee example. I was doing my civic duty in the supermarket car park the other day, depositing my recycling in the correct bins. The Salvation Army boy was in attendance, in his Salvation Army liveried van, clearing the Sally Army clothes bank. He was nattily attired in his Sally Army togs, including, get this, a logo-ed Sally Army baseball cap.

        I rest my case.

But I’ll just add that nobody ever forced us to adopt as an almost universal uniform the clothing styles worn by a foreign country. But we did and I don’t see us ever going back.

@ Dan: I’ve just been reading Stolen Focus by Johann Hari, which includes a chapter on the toxicity of Facebook and similar social media sites. Johann Hari advocates banning Facebook outright. I doubt that that’s likely to happen, but it would certainly be of great benefit to society if it did. I still have an account on Facebook, but I stopped looking at it some time ago as the endless stream of adverts for unethical and environmentally-destructive products, corporate propaganda and ludicrous conspiracy theories (all stuff I hadn’t asked to see but which Facebook insists on shoving at me) was sending my blood-pressure shy-high and making me feel miserable.

One of Robin McAlpine’s recent blog posts includes a link to a report in the Independent which apparently claims that a large proportion of young people believe social media should be banned, but unfortunately the article is behind a paywall and I’m unable to see the detail. Ahh to be young again and have the energy and physicality to do real world stuff other than pissing away the best years of your life sitting about getting upset with folk on t’internet or playing video games.
I often have to blame the parents for being feckless dullards that should have put a bit more effort into raising their bairns to know right from wrong and instilling the basics of a work ethic; Instead of letting their genes in the form of their offspring melt their brains on computer devices and just expect everything to be handed to them.
Maybe we should create a test, a bit Kypton Factor like where to get to stick around over 16 you have to be able to do practical shit like repair a puncture on a bike, make a meal with more than one ingredient that isn’t cooked in a microwave, be able to cut the grass with a lawnmower.
I mean, if by 16 you can’t muster the gumption to start helping your ageing and tired parents out by making a family meal a couple of times a week, or starting a Briggs & Stratton powered device and pushing it round the garden for 10 mins (or a hoover if you live in a property with no garden) it’s unlikely you’ve really got what it takes to thrive in life and hold real power to account.

Maybe jist admit defeat at that point and make the sacrifice to get thrown in the mincer and become Fido’s food is the right and proper choice. Ultimately Fido will crap out the atoms that made you and those elements will then refill the space compost stocks and then at some point have the oppurtunity to give it another whirl on the roundabout of life. Think of it has homeopathic level reincarnation.

Thanks for the reply. I haven’t used Facebook since indyref really. Only a few times as my sister sends me links occasionally. A few months ago I kept receiving emails to confirm my account which I just ignored as a scam/spam but this week I’ve been doing a bit of garden landscaping & wanted to look Facebook marketplace to see if I could blag a wee summer house going cheap. I was met with that message. Facebook are ontae rice if they think I’d ever give face recognition for their crap site which is hoaching with data collecting & spying. I can live without it. I’m shocked they’re even asking ppl for this now.

    Dan

The UK doesn’t have a social media site because America has to control everything – from influencers to targeted Ads, election interference, to shopping & online transactions. Even Google can tell me all the places I’ve been this month & sadly this garbage is built in to every device, app, platform & operating system. They’re a monopoly & the billionaires are in charge & data collecting & algorithms are big business & so is advertisements & shopping. They’ve always to control the narrative & ban what they don’t like on a whim with no human to complain to. That’s why they’re always buying up more. Tiktok the latest one they must have full control over. They’ve managed to even colonise the internet with Google, Cloud etc.

Social media is abused by the West. Other countries use it for educational purposes, homework, learning etc & is controlled by their own country. The West seem to have just let the USA control ours & that includes the dumbing down of the masses to use it for a meltdown of who didn’t use their proper pronoun that day. ..lol Even YouTube is bombarded with Ads every five minutes it seems & is monetised.

From what I’ve read, apparently The EU (& UK) was forbidden from having their own tech – everything had to be done through the USA. Now they’re up shit creek if Uncle Sam decides to pull the plug on the internet. The sinister part is it’s everyone’s life now whether we want it or not because everything is online now – from medical records to banking & paying bills. It’s complete zoomers in charge of the White House at the moment with the Oligarchs in charge of all this & the WEF has already came up with a plan to freeze individuals bank accounts if they don’t comply or share in their ‘Western values’ whatever they’re supposed to be cause no doubt they’ll be moveable on any given day it suits them..

Anyone know where to shop wee cheap summer houses LOL!

    Reply
    • Yoon Scum says:

Lets start with the most important thing

      Summer houses

Be aware that those that are the log cabin type where the walls are built of preformed wood which slot together. They can be a complete arse to disassemble and rebuild

      So much caution is advised

As to America controlling all world wide social media. You’re half right

What you must be aware if is you use (trigger warning) English and like it or not the English speaking world is dominated by the yanks. Hence the social media you look at is controlled by them.

They don’t have a total monopoly for instance look at Tim Tok (metaphorically not actually it will give you brain rot) which is owned by the Chinese

There is other networks in other non English speaking worlds

So you’re idea the the yanks forced everyone to use facearse is a pile of balls

It just happened not a designed conspiracy

Also social media is very much a double edged sword

As yes it lets morons group together to form little echo chambers where they believe impossible things eg Flat earthers, trans movement and Scottish nationalists

      BUT

At the same time it allows me who runs a small business which is unusual in the UK talk to Americans who do a lot more of this and I can learn from them

So in no way would I want a ban on social media

Also I’m not an authoritarian halfwit

I’m sure after Scotland leaves the union you’ll welcome a scottish only social media where you are strictly forbidden from questioning the official narrative

I hope you aren’t having any transphobic ideas……

as you just now the current scottish government would ban you instantly for that and if you think they wouldn’t happily join the WEF idea of freezing your bank accounts

then you’re evidently not paying attention

AND on how to make facearse and YouTube be less annoying

Download and use the brave browser

I got it due to instagram ( I fecking hate it) refusing to let you run a instagram account on a desktop but Brave fools it into thinking you’re on a smart phone

When did China move to the West? D’oh!

The point was – The UK is NOT self sufficient or sovereign. The UK doesn’t have its own tech & can’t even fire a missile without American permission. Fck all to do with speaking English. The EU & UK was restricted as everything had to be from America. Google, Microsoft, Cloud, Amazon, PayPal, Worldpay, eBay, Netflix, Prime, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube..on & on & on, even your wee business.. Monopolies buy up small independent tech start ups – that’s why they’re Monopolies & they then control the content. The reason they went after Telegram & TikTok is because they want control of the data/back doors & to control the narrative – they simply can’t have ppl on Tiktok & Telegram prove the yanks & it’s Western minions are full of propaganda shite & they absolutely hate live images from a gen-ocide they’re helping to fund – so buying it will make it stop – or just arrest the creator & throw them in a Paris Jail until they hand it over like they did with Pavel eh?

Tiktok isn’t Chinese. Isn’t it from Singapore? China has it’s own version called Douyin that they use that can’t be flooded with banal shite from the West & isn’t available here. Same as R. They’re in full control of their own country’s Telecommunications.

It’s you that’s not paying attention, matey. The UK has already arrested ppl from Transphobic crimes like a re-tweeted, busted in doors for daring to write certain things & frozen ppls bank accounts. This site owner for starters had his account frozen & Farage too & guess what…it wasn’t in Scotland or the fault of the SNPEEEE. Where have you been hiding lately – under a rock?

Drop yer obsession with the SNPEEEE.. we’re bored already.

You know what? Every time a Yoon opens their mouth they’re only ever projecting their own Yoon faults onto others. We see you…2014 was full of it & it hasn’t stopped. Every single thing you accuse Scotland of – the UK have done it first. It’s a mental illness yoons think others share. Nah, we don’t. We just see hypocrites.

Same with the nationalist/independence pish. If Farage called for ole Limey to be independent tomorrow you’d back it 100% & lead the charge cause you’re a Nationalist, ya rocket!

        Keep it up…

Don’t get me wrong, the Scottish Administration of Devolved Powers also has not handled limited aspects of energy policy well at all. EG Hydrogen.
But the union is an allround clusterfuck with partial control allowing both parliaments to screw things up and blame eachother. And the complex nature of the current UK political setup effectively puts a block on the electorate holding our current crop of politicians to account.

Incidentally, every time I wonder why the Scottish Government doesn’t purchase Grangemouth from its current owner, pledge to keep it open and functioning, tell us Scots it’s going to use its tax raising powers to fund it, etc, I realise two things.

First, the majority of Scots would probably raise howls of outrage at being forced to spend yet more of their hard-earned bawbees on another white elephant.

Secondly, and far more importantly, the Scottish Government really, really wants Grangemouth to close, and for every well in the North Sea to be capped.

        Remember two facts.

First, it’s the Scottish Government that desperately wants to out virtue-signal WM by getting Scotland to Nut Zero before the rest of the UK. Their post-political gravy train sinecures need that achievement on their CVs.

Second, you have gotten the Scottish Government a majority of Scots voted for. Never forget our collective culpability in the development and maintenance of our very own enduring shitshow in HR.

Still though, it’s all gonna be different after May 2026, eh?

1 The SNP denied them the right to carry out fracking which means they must import feedstock

2 the SNP denied them planning to install a small modular nuclear reactor meaning they must rely on the grid for power

And the reason that Scunthorpe is closing is due to the UK having the most expensive electricity in Europe

All due to the NET ZERO bollocks we are signed up for

A plan that the SNP/greens say isn’t going hard enough

And I shall close this with a wee quote from the SNP

        STOP ROSEBANK

    • Cuilean says:

Ah, that old Yoon Scum oldie but goodie! For Yoon Scum, North Sea oil and gas has been ‘coming to an end’ for the last two decades, despite Norway and the UK both discovering significant new oil fields (Troll and Rosebank respectively) and re-opening old fields, e.g. Penguins oil field, with new technology.

Shell built a ship to drill ‘Penguins’ field in July 2024, 150 miles northeast of the Shetland Islands, restoring production. The peak production is estimated to be around 45,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Zoë Yujnovich, Shell’s Integrated Gas and Upstream Director, commented: “Today, the UK relies on imports to meet much of its demand for oil and gas. The Penguins field is a source of the secure domestic energy production people need today.”

Even though the field will primarily produce oil, the operator claims it will also enable enough gas to heat around 700,000 UK homes per year. It is anticipated to have around 30% lower operational emissions compared to Brent Charlie, EXTENDING THE LIFE OF THE FIELD BY UP TO AT LEAST 20 YEARS. So f off with your yoon shite, Yoon Scum.

While natural gas will be transported through the existing pipeline to the St Fergus Gas Terminal in the northeast of Scotland, which supplies the UK’s national gas network, oil will be transported by tankers to refineries outside Britain, as Grangemouth was idiotically closed by the UK Govt.

The operator confirms that the redevelopment of the Penguins field encompassed drilling additional wells. Discovered in 1974, the field previously produced oil and gas between 2003 and 2021.

Wheesht, now! Don’t tell those pesky Scots about their natural resources keeping Little England afloat!

Especially since joining BRICS with its vital educational input from R & China on long term goals for future generations.

I was going to have a few days away from Wings enjoying the very pleasant archipelago of the east coast of Stockholm, but hearing Geri praising Burkina Faso, one of the least safe and least economically developed countries in the world as some kind of model of governance. We are all the way through the looking glass with that one.

      • Hatey McHateface says:

“You have to be a special kind of fuckwit to cheer on gleefully at giving yer country’s assets to yer neighbour for FREE”

Ah, it does the heart proud on a sunny, Sunday morning to see oor Geri back and gloriously misfiring on all cylinders.

This is the same oor Geri who has spent the past 3+ years gleefully cheering on the imperialist, colonialist Orcs as they seize their neighbour’s assets with guns, bombs, shells, drones, torture, rape, mass graves and ethnic cleansing.

You do indeed have to be a special kind of fuckwit to cheer that on gleefully, but oor Geri clears that bar with many feet of daylight to spare!

      • Hatey McHateface says:

        @Aidan

Assuming Geri means what she posts (it’s possible she’s just on some kind of attention seeking mission), she provides us all a valuable service.

She demonstrates (more accurately, she rants, raves, carpet munches and screams) exactly the kind of Independent Scotland we might end up with if we ever again allow her and her ilk any control over or say in the Indy movement.

It’s a sobering thought that not so long ago, one of the usual suspects was describing her and one of the other regular roasters as “good people”.

        Forewarned is forearmed.

It’s not leaving the union that scares me

It’s ending up with abject fecking loonies like geri in charge of an independent Scotland that terrifies me

If she was running an independent scotland then I am almost certain she’d have folk like me in “re-education camps”

      • Aidan says:

@Hatey – I don’t know what Geri might get out of posting things that are so obviously insane constantly, all day, in response to every post. I am quite interested in why other people entertain it or treat it like a serious contribution to the cause of independence. We’ve got someone who is apparently a real person below telling us how valuable these contributions are. Thankfully there is no chance of them getting near the levers of power in an independent Scotland or otherwise.

  42. Vivian O’Blivion says:

The UK government has belatedly woken up to fact that being the only major industrialised country without a steel industry is a bad look. Imagine all the other world leaders sniggering behind Keith’s back at the next G8.

Whitehall has declared Scunthorpe a “strategic” asset. For strategic read “plate steel”. That’s the stuff that makes major infrastructure projects such as bridges, parts of nuclear power stations, oil rigs (not that we make any of those anymore), and crucially, weapons systems.
Port Talbot is switching to electric furnaces, and those won’t make plate steel (for reasons it would take some time to explain). For Scunthorpe to remain a “strategic asset”, it’ll have to retain its blast furnaces in order to make that plate steel for submarines, tanks, etcetera. And Keith really, really needs those weapons systems to compensate for his tiny todger (geopolitical speaking).

So why have the current owners declared the plant uneconomic? Well, a large part will be that blast furnaces (and coke ovens) are a direct emitter of CO2, and that means Carbon Tax (in the shape of the UK ETS which is effectively a rebranding of the EU ETS). If Keith has any sense, he’ll grant Scunthorpe dispensation from Carbon Tax while he’s “taking control” (read nationalising) it today. Scunthorpe had no domestic competition to complain about unfair advantage, and Brexit is supposed to mean we get to do whatever the fuck we want.

Why not scrap Carbon Tax on Scunthorpe? Claim force majeure. Washington is throwing the niceties of global commerce onto the funeral pyre, we might as well get in on the act.

also checkout the north face puffa jacket, very traditional and fits right in with british culture. Farage would approve, and it is these gentlemen that Wishart wants in to fix the demographics and do the growth.

Demographic crisis? Maybe the 18000 abortions a year, mostly for the feels, isn’t such a good idea after all. Bazza says we need 20K a year from outside the UK and 10K from “inside” it, i.e. english bastards. Odd how these numbers are approx. equal – the ones you killed, who were your own, and the outsiders who aren’t you, don’t care about you and have ideas of their own, including hatred for you, the native.

YS, there are many individuals who, usually as a consequence of colonialism, lack any positive signs of national consciouness, ( as Alf Baird likely would attest being versed in that branch of political theory whereas i am not). Probably best that those individuals migrate to their adopted ‘metropolis’ to avoid the damage that they can do to the national/independence movement in the land of their birth. On second thoughs: who would want them?

Considering damage to national/independence, that type of individual (see above) acts in parallel to the Sturgeon version of the SNP, absolutely destructive including with its promotion of immigration.

You should be able to quantify how support for Indy is increased by each of Geri’s posts.

Then you should be able to do the math and tell Geri how many posts she needs to do to get Indy support into an unassailable majority.
