Wings Over Scotland

Somewhere over the horizon

Posted on March 24, 2021 by

Hey folks, remember the happy days when indyref 2 was going to be in “the first half” of the next Parliament? Well, here comes the totally surprising and unexpected news.

This was Ian Blackford on Sky News yesterday, quietly confirming that at best we can expect it in the SECOND half of the Parliament, ie 2024 at the earliest. (And that’s with all the usual waffly evasiveness about how it could be achieved.)

So if readers were wondering why Blackford had quickly released a squirrel to distract from the appearance, perhaps now they know.

Don’t be taken for mugs forever, readers.

Lying bastards.

The SNP under Sturgeon will never let the Scottish people exercise they’re sovereignty, the independence game is too lucrative.

I have given up with listening to any of top SNP politicians, none ring true now.

Lots of “shoulds” in his response. There’s a lot of things Boris should do but that doesn’t mean you expect him to do it because of his track record. You should have announced date for Indy2 way before now Ian, and as with my expectations of Boris it’s been a long time since I’ve expected you to live up to your words too. You are familiar with the boy who cried wolf I presume?
Stop taking the good folk of Scotland for fools.

Still the gullible sheep talk of voting SNP on May 6th is the only way to get independence.

“We will not allow Scotland to be dragged…”

Where ‘Paper Tiger’ Blackford is concerned, ’nuff said.

Independence a battle for the street or the ballot box?
With democracy flushed down the pan by the « covid emergency measures » scales ought to be falling from eyes on that one.

Stu,

just how much do you reckon the Murrells have ‘earned’, between them, with Mrs Murrell’s accumulated MSP and First Minister salary, plus expenses, and Mr Murrell’s current 6 figure salary and all that came before that, when he worked for Alex Salmond local office?

They must be solid millionaires, between them, surely?

Could the Murrells not, between them, fund the lost £600,000 ‘ring-fenced’ to fund Indyref2?

Lorna Campbell

These people know no shame. Dangly, carroty thingies all over the place. Hee haw, hee, haw, hee haw. It’s the donkeys in Scotland that get taken for a ride. Come to the beach, donkeys and get your human ride. Hey ho, away we go, sitting on a person…

Just as soon as we reach that second half, 2024, there will be yet another dangly carroty thingy all ready and waiting for the terminally gullible and naive. That should give Westminster enough time to get us aboard HMS Greater England or better still, ensure our colonial status alongside our minority status so that it will be quite impossible to ever win a referendum on Scottish independence of any kind, ever.

The Scottish Unionists and rUK English Nationalists together will create a New Caledonia. Except, they cannot because that name has been taken long since by islanders who recently held a referendum on their independence. The French settlers and native Unionists there (it’s a French colony) outvoted them. The Scottish New Caledonia will have to settle for New Scotia, a brand new product for UK and American corporate consumption.

Hey ho, away we go, sitting on a person…

fraser reid

That Dangling of Carrots already getting kicked down that very long road even before the Election???? Pity no “yes” people watch Yoon TV.

Dave Llewellyn, as a genuine Dorothy I would prefer you used another analogy.

I do not wish to be even vaguely associated with that shower.

Alan McHarg

I wonder how many loyal supporters and activists, like so many before them, will be dead and buried going to their graves not knowing if a referendum that they were promised, believed in and fought for actually happened and the goal of independence achieved or whether it was just another year/date plucked out of thin air to satisfy the demands of the faithful. This is fast becoming the SNP’s version of Labours pledge to abolition of the House of Lords.

Astonished

It has come to this. Hell mend them.

Why the secrecy and closure of discussion, does Nicola Sturgeon really think that this will stop Westminster from ruminating over its next move?

Welcome to the new world.

2nd half. Let me think half of 5 is 2.5 = 30 months. So May 2021 to November 2023 is the start of the second half.

We will assume that they will not have the referendum before the UK election in May 24. Because Boris would not agree that date.

The earliest the referendum can happen is September 2024. Who knows what state Scotland will be in by then. Even then I simply don’t believe there will be a referendum.

Hatuey

They’re free to escalate this propaganda line now in the run-up to the election.

Interesting that he made reference to the long established principle of sovereignty of the people in Scotland when the bastards fought tooth and nail against Martin Keatings, effectively to deny us that right.

Stu, could you give Alex Salmond a message for me? Tell him to press the button. It’s time to do everything possible to undermine and weaken the SNP. Salmond has the power to take a chunk of votes from the scumbags.

The woods are burning.

Bobby McPherson

I honestly believe it will be too late by then. Cannae stand Blackford. Wee whinging bleating pain in the arse Cnut! So weak and ineffective. Annoys the hell out of me.

Slop

J Galt

You’d have thought they would have kept up the false promise of a referendum this year or at latest early next (what’s another false promise) just to keep the Nicola bandwagon rolling.

By admitting nothing’s going to happen before 2024 runs the risk of opening the eyes of even the most adoring of Sturgeon fans.

Robert Graham

Gee and I thought Grounhog day was a Movie I was sure I have seen this stuff before , oh I remember now it’s been repeated every year since the last one that was actually held I remember because I voted in it , I doubt if I will be around to see the next one it keeps appearing but just when I get close it disappears , maybe if I get a net or some kind of Trap I might be lucky next time .

Away and splash pish at yerself yah fat hunt Blackford , remember him we won’t be dragged out of Europe , I bet he’s never missed a dinner first at the table every time eh ,

Angusthedug

I cannot quite get my head around Blackford spouting that same pish, day after day after day.

Heaver

Independence only needs to get lucky once.

That the SNP have turned into such fucktards lets UK off the hook for now. But this will never end until Scotland resumes her rightful sovereignty. Scotland will become such a running sore in British politics, dwarfing Brexit. The union cannot win.

I trust the expert panels are already studying the voting systems and governance of those democracies most admirable, like the Nordics, Finland, Netherlands, Germany. And already drafting the bill to lay before the First Parliament on the first and only day of business, before it’s adoption, followed immediately by dissolution of Parliament for a General Election to elect the Second Parliament.

Calum

I’m old enough to remember when indyref2 was going to happen “once we know what Brexit looks like” and in time to “give the Scottish people a choice on their future”.

Empty words which don’t help when there are actual gaps in supermarket shelves and our imported food (from the EU, bought on Amazon) jumps in price.

Dave Beveridge

There’ll be no talk of independence until the economic impact of global warming has been dealt with…

There’ll be no talk of independence until the economic impact of rising sea levels has been dealt with…

There’ll be no talk of independence until the economic impact of the Martian invasion has been dealt with…

Republicofscotland

Yes the next five years look as though the SNP will obfuscate around when an indyref will be held, knowing fine well they have no real intentions of holding one.

Once elected in May, with the backing of the Greens if its needed, independence will, like it was in 2016 be swept under the carpet, and wheeled out from time to time when Westminster upsets Sturgeon.

It may take the next five years of an SNP government not delivering an indyref for a majority of folk to wake up and realise that they’ve badly duped by Sturgeon and her clique.

It remains as a fact that only Alex Salmond took the country to an indyref, yet he is demonised by many Sturgeonites when he should be lauded for almost freeing Scotland from this terrible union.

Skip_NC

Bloody heck, Slop. This is serious. I thought it was only the “Yes Minister” parody that was considered Contempt of Court. If the Establishment thinks there are more, that is rather chilling.

On the topic of the post, does anyone else think that the Independence Referendum Bill (draft) will become rather like the Outlawries Bill or the Select Vestries Bill?

alzyerpal

2024 will be perfect timing for launching the pointless fuckers into WM for another jolly, after which Holyrood 2026 will be the new touchstone. (Aaaand, repeat Ad Nauseum)

Big Jock

Callum – Yep , and by 2024 we will have been out of the EU for 3 years. The impact of Brexit is happening right now. Nothing is being done to protect businesses , our EU friends or our lost rights as EU citizens. The rights we voted to keep!

James

Come 2024 the SNP will be focusing on the general election and looking towards the next holyrood elections. So he’s all but confirmed there will be no indref2 this holyrood parliament. Depressing but not surprising.

true scot

Blackford always reminds me a character you might find in a Dickens novel – probbly Bleak House, which is esentially a victorian story about lawfare. Anyway..

To call Blackford unctuous did not begin to convey the presence of the man ‘x’ now sat before. Blackford’s keen eyes sat in the midst of a face that was at once too flat and too round, lips curled slightly heavenwards but, in spite of the conspicuous placement of articles denoting a Presbyterian faith, it was hard to see any piety in that expression. ‘x’ suddenly found himself rememebering some half forgotten words attributed to Pliny The Elder, in which he said of mankind that their wealth seems to posess them rather than they possessing it. It seemed apposite somehow. Blackford laced his fingers atop his well kept paunch and leaned back in his protesting chair. ‘Short money you say?’ Blackford’s voice disagreed with his portly frame, in that it was contralto against the expectation set by the latter of a baritone. ‘Pray continue. I am, if I may sink to the vernacular, ‘all ears’, as they say’.

Is this new trouble for Craig Murray or part of the existing case against him? link to craigmurray.org.uk

This is still up…

youtu.be/g8NjRSUkkWE

100%Yes

Queen Nicola Sturgeon has decided a section 30 order is the route for Scotland to be Independent. She’s even called it the Gold Standard, she’s made the point perfectly clear (and will again during the up coming election) that the SNP will seek to obtain a section 30 order once again from the UK. Now wouldn’t it make more sense to ask the electorate if they want to seek a section 30 order or not? Sturgeon knowingly (and banking on the fact) knows the PM will not consent to a section 30 order, but she hopes then to call the PM is a democracy denier, when in actual fact Boris Johnston was elected in 2019 on the basis of refusing a section 30 order, he was on TV stating it, that’s a fact. The only party who is full of bull and who are democracy denier’s are the SNP, by asking the electorate in Scotland to vote on a promise of a referendum, when they have already given the the consent to grant or deny it to the UK. So what would we be actually voting for, because it wouldn’t be a referendum because its never ever going to happen and the SNP know it. If the SNP put in their manifesto they’ll request a section 30 order, when they’ve done this and its refused, they wont even be able to take it to Court, cos the Court will rule a referendum isn’t with the consent of the people, cos all the people voted for was a section 30 order!! to which the UK has refused. Lets remember every single mandate we have given the SNP has been honored (WHY YOU ASK) because she went and ask for a section 30 order and the UK refused, once again we are going to end up in the cul-de-sac because the SNP keeping putting us there, I wanted to see from this draft Independence Bill that the SG wouldn’t be seeking a section 30 order and that would be asking the Scottish people in May to grant the SG permission to hold a referendum without a section 30 order that’s democracy in the hands of the people who live in Scotland not in another country.

The lamps are going out all over Scotland

We shall not see them lit again in our life-time

A Jambo

Ask Blackford if he wants to donate £600,000 to the fund.

At least they’re giving us a good laugh if nothing else!

It’s like someone insisting that one day soon JC is going to rise again and provide us with the guiding light.

Big Jock

Hey at least Blackford will be able to see out his retirement on an MP’s pension. Pretty sure the same chumps will still be in WM at the next GE 2024. He can retire in 2029, and remember the good old days when he staged a walk out , then went straight back in for another 8 years.

No Independence referendum no SNP vote. We might as well give politicians from other parties a shot at warming their arse in Parliament.. you can’t disturb a good trough session with all this indy upheaval, c’mon, pensions to be had, comfy slippers to be worn….shine those seats and get in there for the long haul. order, order!

I have to admit to not watching the clips every time but for once I did and I think the wrong clip has been uploaded.

Paterson is the one who says it’s in the 2nd half of the next parliament and Blackford responds with the pre-rehearsed spiel about sovereignty, etc., etc.

Is there another clip with Blackford stating this?

Carol Neill

The statement on Craig Murray’s site is actually quite / deeply disturbing

James

Maybe I’m missing something but would you really want to become independent with Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP running your country? It’s becoming an unaccountable police state with a humongous deficit, no currency and all they would do is everything possible to get back into the EU so Nicola, her hubby and all their cronies can then get well paid commission jobs just like the Kinnock clan, while having someone else to blame for their own incompetence in the interim. Almost every article I read on this excellent website confirms this and I’m someone who would love Scotland to stay part of the UK. Surely it’s best to get shot of the Sturgeons and the SNP first and elect a decent government to sort these issues out before you seek to go it alone.

Dinny Vote SNP

What was it Whiteford once said, “we will not be taken out of WM against our will” ???

Socrates MacSporran

On the basis of “follow the money,” I suggest, once the Holyrood campaign begins, the true Independence supporters should be asking every SNP candidate, at every public meeting or tv debate to: “show us the money.”

The question being, where is the ring-fenced money to pay for Indyref2?

The implication then being – if the SNP cannot be trusted to look after cash given to them to pursue what is supposed to be their primary goal – how can we trust them to run the country?

Carol Neill

Ecks even more so , I despair

Official Statement on behalf of AS up on Iain Lawsons blog

Main points are:

“I have therefore taken legal advice and will shortly be instructing my lawyers to bring proceedings in the Court of Session arising as a direct result of the conduct of the Permanent Secretary. I hope it is the only legal action that I am required to take.”

and

“ I will accordingly now make that complaint to the Police and allow them to discover who within the Scottish Government was responsible for passing these details to the Daily Record newspaper. I have every confidence that Police Scotland will pursue that matter with rigour.”

Big Jock

Alex is taking the legal route against Evans!

An interesting phrase he used:” I hope this is the only individual I have to do this for” . In other words. If they close ranks , he will take them all on legally.

He is also contacting the police about the Daily Record leak. Squeaky bum time for many of the liars in this coven.

Carol Neill

Oo I take it back about eck , I must admit I only read the opening line , sighed then clicked out , will try harder to be more alert !

Big Jock

What is happening to Craig Murray is becoming more and more sinister. Dark forces at play now. If the police can turn up at your door for some chalked graffiti, then I really do think that deep state are watching all of us.

Big Jock

Carol – If you remember I mentioned something about Carwyn Jones. He got off breaching the MC , by the same James Hamilton.

The claimant’s lawyers tore his judgement to pieces and Carwyn had to resign. It is through the legal process that victory may result.

Bear in mind that if Evans is forced to resign, she will not be going quietly on her own. This could be what does it for Nicola.

Carol Neill

Fingers crossed Big Jock , fingers crossed

Josef Ó Luain

It seems unlikely that the fall-out from the Fabiani enquiry will have won the SNP many new admirers. It is much more likely that the revelations will have the opposite effect on voters; those, that is, who make the effort to turn-out at all.

Mia

Blackford is insulting our intellects by attempting to deceive us with his pueril psychological blackmailing:

1) he avoids to deny that an England MP parachuted to the position of PM by England only has to “give consent” to Scotland for anything. The fact that he is building up his deceptive speech on top of that falsehood is telling us that he does not give a sht about democracy nor Scotland’s popular sovereignty. and worse, his party has no intention in delivering that referendum. This man speaks like a very well trained and compliant colonial chief.

b) he is inferring that unless the SNP gets a majority, independently of how many pro indy seats we get, we cannot have the referendum. He appears to have embraced the recent narrative of the colonial parties. And I say recent because I distinctly remember Ruth Davidson in the 2011 election saying that “what democracy is all about “in Holyrood is that if 2 or more pro indy parties gain TOGETHER a majority of seats, they can form a coalition or agreement, call a vote for a referendum and pass the vote if that is what they want. At that point, the colonel was totally clear that there was no need for all the pro indy seats to belong to the SNP in order for the vote to pass, so it looks like Mr Blackford is attempting to pull a fast one here taking us for fools.

c) Mr Blackford is not mentioning at all the mandate we ALREADY have and that his boss has deliberately wasted. Mr Blackford is not mentioning either that denying us that democratic mandate as his boss has done, is denying us our legitimate right to self determination. There cannot be any doubt now that Scotland is a colony. We would have never seen the astonishing level of corruption brought by the collusion of Sturgeon with the apparatus of the British state and this government, civil service and COPFS remaining as they are if Scotland was a functioning democracy. Well, in line with the UN decolonisation charter, once a non governing peoples have requested their self determination, the powers for this to happen must be transferred with no delay. Unpreparedness is not an excuse. It seems to me that Mr Blackford here is, like Sturgeon, colluding with the British state to deny Scotland its self determination and to make a mockery of the UN decolonisation charter.

It seems to me that with all his verbiage, Blackford appears to be trying cover up the fact that his corrupt boss could not be arsed in delivering our democratic mandate by subtlety sending the message that the reason is because the SNP did not get a majority.

AFI and ISP
still aiming to prop up this gang of liars in exchange for the promise of a referendum that these wnkrs are already furiously kicking down the road even before they released their effing manifesto?

Mr Blackford starts to sound an awful lot like Gordon Brown: obsolete, out of place and a figure of ridicule.

Ross

Don’t care what half it’s in as long as it happens.
Think scotland generally would be fairly comfortable with second half.

Mr Murray’s blog can no longer be accessed. It seems it has been censored.

James Che.

He also stated he personally wasn’t going after NS, does he know something we don’t?

Craig Murray, even if it is not his choice, may soon be a ‘posterchild’ for the erosion of our freedoms in Scotland, under the jackboot of so-called ‘progressives’. A marker in a new dark period of Scotland’s history under colonial rule.

ALL so-called ‘journalists’ should pay heed. Today it is a mere blogger, next they will be coming for you. Speak up now, for soon you might not be allowed to.

Skip_NC

James Che, who knows? At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, AS is the finest politician of his generation. Or maybe he has concluded that going after others will allow the truth – the whole truth – to come out.

There’s so many more things I need to let Boris know Scotland will never have done to it against her will.

Mr Bonobo

Let’s see just how slowly the Crown Office and the Scottish legal system can act now that Alec is prosecuting the permanent secretary. Every excuse, every covid delay, lost paperwork, translating into Bashkir, leave a tap running to flood the courtroom, etc, etc.

The police will also suddenly discover that they really should be investigating burglaries, and patrolling on the beat, not just performing political proscutions.
