Wings Over Scotland

The relative size of the truth

Posted on February 26, 2015 by

Sometimes a picture can say a lot more than a thousand words. Below, to the left of the vertical red line on our graphic, you can see the prominence that the Daily Record gave to their lies about “The Vow” and the Smith Commission report, which were found to be false by the Independent Press Standards Organisation.

vowliescale

On the right of the line, at the same scale, is the prominence they gave to the truth.

The Record’s readers had to wait three months for the tiny correction. The lies can, as we write this at 6.30pm, all still be read on the paper’s website (the 8.01 entry at this link). It would be hard to imagine a more complete and resounding display of utter contempt for IPSO’s judgement and for the truth. No apology was offered, just a couple of derisory paragraphs of weasel-worded waffle about a “misunderstanding”.

smithpology

Today the paper, along with Scottish Labour, callously threw a young nurse under a bus in a desperate attempt to distract even from that pitiful concession to honesty by hysterically attacking this site. We hadn’t told a single lie.

(We hear, though we haven’t yet been able to confirm, that the Forth Valley Royal Hospital has now issued a statement on the matter of Labour using an in-uniform NHS Scotland employee for political ends.)

It’s important to remember what that was really all about.

Not only has the Daily Record failed to provide an apology for the blatant lies, it has failed to take any responsibility for the incessant lies, and effectively pinned any blame on the “source close to the Smith report”.

Which pretty much sums up the Daily Record and its standard of journalism – lazy, piss poor and wholly inaccurate.

Spot on, the real story here is that the Record are shower of lying gits and their apology for being found out was hidden in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard’*

One significant power will do. Just one.

    Errm… nope.

    The Smith Report clearly states:

“…the Scottish and UK Governments’ budgets should be no larger or smaller simply as a result of the initial transfer of tax and/or spending powers…”

“This means that the initial devolution and assignment of tax receipts should be accompanied by a reduction in the block grant equivalent to the revenue forgone by the UK Government…”

Well, she’s daft if she believe’s Labour’s NHS pish.

But I suspect that she posed for the photos having been promised that the NHS logo would be airbrushed out to protect her, which it was for the earlier ones, but Scottish Labour’s incompetence (and the sheer malice with which they insisted on drawing attention to her being a real nurse, not an actress) hung her out to dry.

I don’t like her views or the eagerness with which she went along with the Record’s monstering, but if she gets in trouble I still feel a bit sorry for her, because she trusted Scottish Labour and they let her down.

It should be used by the SNHS bosses to serve as a warning not to become involved in political expression while wearing NHS uniform.

Even if she knew what she was doing, should anyone cheer if she is thrown under the pink labour bus as a result of this, considering labour will get off Scot free ?

Not for me thanks, but there is nothing wrong with using this incident to highlight the lies and hypocritical nature of that odious newspaper, the Record (people’s champion indeed).

I feel for the Nurse/Actress. It doesn’t matter what job she does, she’s perfectly entitled to support what ever political cause she wants. The issue with the NHS logo is entirely Labour’s responsibility. It was their mistake, not hers.

I sincerely hope she doesn’t get into any trouble over this as it would be grossly unfair, and if she is an actress, I hope she gets some work through the publicity. It would go a small way to making up for what must be an unpleasant experience.

But the blame for her situation lies squarely at the door of whatever Labour numpties thought it would be a good idea to display the NHS logo on her uniform.

Now that WOS has done the bulk of the ground work, in getting IPSO to admit The Rectum was in the wrong, i think it may be worth every single one of us making complaints to IPSO, pointing out the 3-months to get a feeble and miniscule correction AND the original article still being present and not being immediately removed. That means people are still being lied to.

We should also request, given the severity of the lie produced by The Rectum, that the paper is made to print an equivalent full front page apology and explanation. Not something so obscure you would need Columbo to find it.

This rag has helped to con a nation and doesn’t even apologise.

We need to alert IPSO, en mass, regarding this serious matter.

    “Good afternoon Mr MyName

    Please see the statement below

“All staff working in the NHS are obviously entitled to their own personal views and opinions and can support any political party of their choice. As the majority of NHS nursing staff in Scotland wear a national uniform which bears the NHS Scotland logo, staff should avoid wearing their uniform in any situation which could potentially align NHS Scotland with any political party or campaign. NHS staff should also follow organisational polices and relevant professional codes of conduct, which for nurses are set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Stuart – I don’t see what difference this would have made – whether we know who she works for or not. She is still clearly dressed as a nurse, and speaks “as a nurse”, which is clearly against the rules as laid out by her regulating professional body, the NMC. Colleagues who don’t agree with her must be annoyed that they are not allowed to counter this in a similar, public fashion

Like so many other Wingers I too do not want to see her sacked. I think the worst she should face would possibly be a severe “dragging over hot coals” so that she is left in no uncertain terms what is and what is not considered acceptable.

General details of this situation should be circulated throughout the NHS, without names or places of work mentioned, so that every NHS worker is left in no doubt what is expected of them whilst maintaining her anonymity as much as practicable.

In future anyone working for the NHS who behaves in a similar manner should expect to lose their job at the very least for bringing the NHS into disrepute.

No one working in the NHS should be left in any doubt that appearing in political literature wearing NHS clothing is NOT acceptable in any circumstances!

I think her relationships with the local Labour MSP and his advisor may be a bit strained at the moment

I suspect that Labour either forgot to photoshop the NHS logo or decided to leave it in for maximum effect. Most likely the latter as desparate times require desparate measures. The McTernan effect – me thinks.

So it will be interesting to see what happens over the next few week or so.

It would be sad indeed if Muphy needed 1001 extra nurses.

I’m not convinced that protection is necessarily effective. If I’d gone on an SNP leaflet in one of our green fleeces, saying what my job is and explaining why a strong SNP is the best thing for the farming community, with even just my Christian name, I’d have expected to be carpeted even if I’d obscured the logo.

These NHS uniforms are a lot more distinctive and recognisable than our green fleeces. The logo is almost superfluous, when she states up front that she’s a nurse.

Deary me, where to start in a’ this mess.

Labour, if they thought about it, would be better coming up with their own policies and tell us how they are going to improve the lives of we Scots. Mind you the campaign they are fighting would appear to be 12 months too early.

Instead, they choose to sit and think up insults to ordinary folk who express an opinion different to theirs. That’s allowed you know, It’s called democracy. I was always taught to respect the other persons point of view. It may be different to mine and I might not agree with it. But that is their right. Instead we get all this bile and trying to set traps for the SNP and then they go and fall into their own trap.

The nurse/actress whatever she is has been badly used by SLAB. It would probably never have left WOS if smart arse SLAB had not jumped in to cause a stushie. It would appear the two who started this are known to the lady, one of them seems to be a friend. That’s some friend to do this to you. When all is said and done, the lady did pose for the pictures for Bitter Thegither, she knew what she was doing. If SLAB have used this without her permission she will have to tackle them about it. If she is indeed a nurse, well, she knew the rules about politics whilst in uniform.

As for the retard, they are beyond redemption. Today was very childish behaviour, trying to hide what was really biting their bum. Rev Stu has gotten under their skin bigtime. Good.

While big it comes nowhere near being the biggest fraud in Scottish History. The so called, “Union of the Crowns”, of 1603 that did not unite the crowns. “The English Navigational Acts”, that led to, “The Darian Expedition”, (which expedition was engineered by the English Establishment) and was in itself a fraud.

The English, “Glorious Revolution”, (that assumed to
also depose the monarchy of Scotland while Scotland was still an independent Kingdom). The so called, “Jacobite Rebellion”, when Scots could not be rebelling against a monarch not their own and the real biggy “The Treaty of Union”, far surpass the Vow.

I still can’t shake the thought that there’s only one Suzanne, and the original photo they were all disowning (even her) is actually of her.

What’s the chances of two different women, about the same age and with very similar features and both called Suzanne, and both from Clackmannanshire (the smallest county in Scotland as I was taught at school) being wannabe actresses on the books of casting agencies?

OK, I remember the Clare/Claire Lally episode, but we didn’t have a picture of Mrs. Claire Lally who probably looks nothing like Miss Clare Lally. The facial shape of all “three” women here is extremely similar if you allow for camera angle and fresh-scrubbed cheesy grin versus sultry pout.

Put it this way. I really think there is only one Suzanne from Clackmannanshire who does acting. Other posters are convinced that Suzanne-the-nurse is the Suzanne who’s on the books of the Sonia Scott agency. If that logic is correct, the original post was entirely right in identifing the two women as one and the same, but merely failed to consider the possibility that she could be both a nurse and a wannabe actress.

In that case, why the lying? So easy to say, yes, Suzanne is on the books of an acting agency, that’s her hobby, but she is a real nurse, take that you presumptious cybernats.

Maybe because that wouldn’t have supported the outraged headlines? If I’m right about this (and I’m not saying I am, but the inference does seem fairly clear), what’s going to happen when/if it all comes out?

Too many people too sensitive about the nurse issue. I’m really not sure why someone can’t express or support a political opinion when they are outside their work even if wearing their works uniform. After all we have NHS consultants who are standing for parliament.

The line I think is that they should not discuss their politics with clients, customers or patients.

The most important from an SNP/yes is that we create a wider media platform to sell our politics and to show a wide range of people, businesses and other bodies who support our views and of course get the BBC out of Scotland.

It is, Vince, for the very good reason that the Nursing professional body has written rules stating that while members are free to join a political party or express any political views they choose they must not do so wile in uniform. This because that associates the views expressed with the nursing profession rather than their personal views.

Looking in more detail at the profiles, I see that while there are many similarities and the shoe size only differs by one size, the CastingNow Suzanne is said to be 5 feet 7 inches while the Sonia Scott Suzanne is said to be 5 feet 3 inches.

That’s quite a difference and unless one (or both) of the measurements are wrong it would indicate that there are indeed two different Suzannes on the books of casting agencies, who look remarkably similar. And if the Sonia Scott one is the nurse, both have been described as coming from Clackmannanshire.

My detective radar is engaged, I fear.

In my opinion the NHS can be set up to fail due to unrealistic targets. That’s exactly what Murphy did by using the wrong figures regarding cancelled operations. Whether Labour had no clue where they’d gone wrong or did so deliberately makes no real difference given they’ve yet to apologise for an act that would amount to bullying on a massive scale if the were actually in charge of NHS Scotland. Hell even the grandiose claim that they’ll simply hire more nurses than the SNP won’t address the targets being set.

Slightly O/T I have contributed £10 to the RevStu’s latest crowdfunding appeal, and was informed instantly by reply that I had just pushed the current total to over the £50k mark – and his request was for a £45k target. Still distributing the leaflet. Got mine yesterday. Imagine the coincidence of the story of the ‘poor brave nurse’ who was ‘attacked by the Cybernazis’ coming out at the same time! Imagine the relative column inches given to both. Newspapers are, of course, allowed to be partisan -fair enough. But this goes beyond bending or twisting the truth. They’re deliberately lying to their readership. Loyal readers who think that what The Daily Record prints will be generally truthful. The newspaper is telling lies because it wants its readers to hold a certain opinion which it knows is wrong.
