Heh. No, leopards don’t change their spots do they?

After everything the past two years and that shower has thrown at Scotland, it should be pretty much a no brainer at this point. There is no economic, legal, constitutional, practical or moral case for retaining political union. Whatever is left of loyalty toward the ongoing political construct based on the Thames, is based purely on a false sense of identity and narrative of ‘unity’ that never was. Its based on societal division, fear, intimidation and insecurity.

All that? That’s not us anymore.

We’ve earned the right to be better. People don’t need or want to live in fear. They don’t want to live on hand outs. They don’t want to wonder what pain the next government is going to pass onto them because that government has pished their money up against a wall. They don’t want their government to punish them or terrify their society. They don’t want their politicians to destroy their public institutions and errode their trust in everything they should have faith in.

People simply want to get on with their lives in peace and know, KNOW, that their lives and futures are in safe hands that reflect their wishes and values. They want to know that they have government that they have confidence in and that more importantly, has confidence in them.

As an absent friend would say, peace always people. Have a merry Christmas and all the very best for 2017.

According to Ruthie Tory insiders she’s over the moon at the moment thinking she’s about to win the next Indyref decimating the SNP and that will pave the way for a Tory Scotland with her as first minister

So all her bluster about opposing a second Indyref is a double bluff according to those in the know and it’s actually what she dreams of and has been fake campaigning against Indy when It’s actually what she wants to happen for her own devilish ends
She’s got the FM boxed in exactly where she wants her she thinks

Great cartoon. Ruthie is kidding no one. A TORY to her core. Loyal to London.

She’s probably ended her tory career though, by both fighting hard for Remain and now her silly flip flop. Its weakened her beyond repair and verily damaged the Scottish party. If we had an even remotely balanced media etc…

She should have watched, wondered, learned from sneaky tory shit Teresa’s EU hedge, low profile, remain camping. But no, Ruthie Babes shoots from the mouth, and its all over.

Ian Murray did exact same with his JC bad monstering, and then ended his front bench career. Here’s to another trip round the Sun, under that brilliant tory yoonery control:-(

Not such a ridiculous position as it seems. They want IndyRef2 ASAP before the reality of Brexit becomes obvious. Ruthie will believe Scotland is split 50:50 and she is in with a chance of an early win, a collapse of the SNP, an election, and a Unionist coalition with her at FM.

Her BIG problem is, as Chris has masterfully drawn, a Tory whose strings are being pulled from London. She has already made gains by hiding the toxicity of the underlying brand, but she keep pretending. A Tory is still a nasty Tory, and they are the party who are bringing Brexit down upon us. Scotland can only become more anti Brexit, pro Indy.

Macart, you set it out in your usual succinct way earlier for all of us.
There is no ‘Union’ now,if indeed there ever were one, and the Red Blue and Yellow Tories have abandoned any pretence that Scotland is remotely considered an equal Partner Nation.
Corbyn has ignored Murray for 3 months, and the wee gnaff has gone public complaining about the snub? We knew of course that in the Labour Hierarchy , he never rated. Good of him to confirm it himself.

If the Queen is sending a message to her loyal subjects, then surely she is only sending it to the people of England, Wales and Northern Ireland? To quote from Wikipedia (yeah, I know) :

“… every person born within the dominions and allegiance of the English and later British Crown was, based on common law, an English and later British subject. To be a subject required only that a person be born in any territory under the sovereignty of the Crown.”

    Sorry,Santa

    O/T
There is a now a Christmas tree in the Aleppo’s central square which would not have been there if the other side had won.
The truth is now emerging and hopefully will become accepted as the reality of situation asserts itself. This will not happen without a determined and continuous action to get the truth out. We have a New Year to face and hopefully a new year in which the huge lies about our disgraceful compliance in direct contravention of the UN Charter in an illegal and murderous campaign against another sovereign nation is fully exposed.
As the people of Syria rejoice in the streets at the victory of their troops and their elected president – a national rejoicing our media seem determined to keep from us – over an externally financed invasion Syrian self determination has been rescued. The evidence of the overwhelming support of the Syrian people for their president is well recorded and not hard to find. That the US (with its Saudi and UK allies) find him an impediment to their plans for Middle Eastern control provides no justification whatsoever for their activity in the region. I need to say nothing more. I will leave it to Peter Ford, ex UK ambassador to Syria.
My first sentence above are his words. Ford reaffirms that the “moderate” opposition is very small and the dominant extreme elements are unreconstructed jihadis bent on destroying the west. He says that “the British Foreign Office, to which I used to belong, I’m sorry to say has got Syria wrong every step of the way. We have made the situation worse. Now they are telling us another big lie, that Assad can’t control the rest of the country. Well, I’ve got news for them. He is well on the way to doing so.”
It is my belief that once the truth of the murderous invasion of Syria is widely accessed and believed and the UK’s part in this is recognised it will strike another blow at the credibility of the union that Scotland is trapped in and shred away another layer of respect that some of us still hold for the failing UK state.
    Meanwhile Syria’s Christmas is real

    Pity sometimes people get hurt.

“Excellent from Chris as always, May I take this opportunity to wish all of the Wings family a very happy Christmas and all the best for 2017, My Wings flag survived Barbara and shall continue to fly proudly. Much love to you all.Donna x”

Well Donna, In regard to Storm Barbara, you know what they say about the female of the species, don’t you?

    :-

” The Female of the Species

WHEN the Himalayan peasant meets the he-bear in his pride,
He shouts to scare the monster, who will often turn aside.
But the she-bear thus accosted rends the peasant tooth and nail.
For the female of the species is more deadly than the male.

When Nag the basking cobra hears the careless foot of man,
He will sometimes wriggle sideways and avoid it if he can.
But his mate makes no such motion where she camps beside the trail.
For the female of the species is more deadly than the male.

When the early Jesuit fathers preached to Hurons and Choctaws,
They prayed to be delivered from the vengeance of the squaws.
‘Twas the women, not the warriors, turned those stark enthusiasts pale.
For the female of the species is more deadly than the male.

Man’s timid heart is bursting with the things he must not say,
    For the Woman that God gave him isn’t his to give away;
But when hunter meets with husbands, each confirms the other’s tale—
The female of the species is more deadly than the male.

Man, a bear in most relations—worm and savage otherwise,—
Man propounds negotiations, Man accepts the compromise.
Very rarely will he squarely push the logic of a fact
To its ultimate conclusion in unmitigated act.

Fear, or foolishness, impels him, ere he lay the wicked low,
To concede some form of trial even to his fiercest foe.
Mirth obscene diverts his anger—Doubt and Pity oft perplex
Him in dealing with an issue—to the scandal of The Sex!

But the Woman that God gave him, every fibre of her frame
    Proves her launched for one sole issue, armed and engined for the same;
And to serve that single issue, lest the generations fail,
The female of the species must be deadlier than the male.

She who faces Death by torture for each life beneath her breast
May not deal in doubt or pity—must not swerve for fact or jest.
These be purely male diversions—not in these her honour dwells—
She the Other Law we live by, is that Law and nothing else.

She can bring no more to living than the powers that make her great
As the Mother of the Infant and the Mistress of the Mate.
And when Babe and Man are lacking and she strides unclaimed to claim
Her right as femme (and baron), her equipment is the same.

    She is wedded to convictions—in default of grosser ties;
Her contentions are her children, Heaven help him who denies!—
He will meet no suave discussion, but the instant, white-hot, wild,
Wakened female of the species warring as for spouse and child.

Unprovoked and awful charges—even so the she-bear fights,
Speech that drips, corrodes, and poisons—even so the cobra bites,
Scientific vivisection of one nerve till it is raw
And the victim writhes in anguish—like the Jesuit with the squaw!

So it comes that Man, the coward, when he gathers to confer
With his fellow-braves in council, dare not leave a place for her
Where, at war with Life and Conscience, he uplifts his erring hands
To some God of Abstract Justice—which no woman understands.

And Man knows it! Knows, moreover, that the Woman that God gave him
Must command but may not govern—shall enthral but not enslave him.
And She knows, because She warns him, and Her instincts never fail,
That the Female of Her Species is more deadly than the Male. “

Arms manufacturing is almost the last big non service industry in the UK. Its got a lot of multipliers too but most importantly, its got massive political weight, when you can literally pick and choose what part of teamGB is worthy of UK military spends. Look at Crash Gordo and his two £6+bn white elephant aircraft carriers in Fife, where he’s UKOK king of the world.

So its got all that the tories like about public sector spends, pumping a lot of taxation into the private sector, where you decide and all that hard power, world prestige, rule Britannia style.

This is how toryboy world works. Look at how the toryboys have effectively privatised the whole university education sector in England and Wales. Its for their own good you see, its too thinly spread out and not great multipliers.

“Indeed. I’d welcome some thoughts from Nicola, though, in these troubled times.”

Tell you what, galamcennalath, I was never bothered one way or another by the royalty thing. I accepted Her Majesty was Queen of England but also Queen of Scots and thus she had two jobs to do that really should not conflict one with the other.

As Queen of the Kingdom of England she is legally sovereign in that kingdom and is also the Queen of Wales and N. Ireland. Thus, as Queen of that kingdom of England, she legally owns it all and the people are her subjects.

While, as Queen of Scots she doesn’t own Scotland and we Scots cannot thus be her subject but her job is to be the protector of our sovereignty.

I had a very rapid conversion to republicanism when Cameron reported that she had purred upon getting told we had lost the referendum. Now I realise Cameron could well be attempting to mislead us but the fact is her maj has never corrected Cameron’s claims.

Being impartial is one thing but allowing a false impression to stand uncorrected is quite another. So I’m with you in accepting the leader of the Kingdom of Scotland is , as long as a majority want Nicola as FM, the one a majority of Scots chose as leader and she shows far more concerns for our sovereignty than, “Queen Elizabeth II of England and Elizabeth I, Queen of Scots.

Here is the paragraph quoted from the Declaration of Arbroath that Scots Law is largely based upon, This says that we, the sovereign people of Scotland, can sack a Monarch who does not do their job to our satisfaction –

“Yet if (s)he should give up what (s)he has begun, seeking to make us or our kingdom subject to the King of England or the English, we should exert ourselves at once to drive him, (her), out as our enemy and a subverter of his(her) own right and ours, and make some other (wo)man who was well able to defend us our King/Queen; for, as long as a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be subjected to the lordship of the English. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.”

The Queen of Scots would do well to heed that statement. (I wonder if it is, perhaps, a bit cold in the Tower of London these Winter days)?

    Further to Macart @8:26am

The failures and weaknesses of corporatist forms of government were understood back in the 1980’s. What followed was a failed attempt to shape an “enterprise” culture, that has removed much of the social safety net but has done little to rid us of corporatism.

In her article for CapX, Harriet Maltby raises the question of morality, and asks whether it has been debased because, as some critics allege, “capitalism has transformed us into heartless materialistic machines whose only moral code is fame and money”. She sets against this attitude an essentially Aristotelian morality in which ‘being’ is vastly more important than ‘having’, and concludes that capitalism is not antithetic to virtue because it gives us freedom to choose.

Though she is undoubtedly correct to argue that there need be no inconsistency between capitalism and morality (used here in the Aristotelian sense), it would be wrong to accept, as so many do, that Britain, for example, has a capitalist economic system. The system that Britain actually has is not capitalism at all, but a toxic variant known as “corporatism”. Understanding this is critical to an appreciation of why, despite the virtues of capitalism, so much of what happens in Britain undoubtedly seems morally retrograde.

It also provides mine counter measures, and of course Sputnik when it mentions the UK’s “naval presence” of HMS Middleton forgets to mention that she’s an MCM ship.

It’s not a lot of difference in range, 5,500 nm for the OPV as opposed to 7,000 for the T23, but every little helps, and the slightly slower speed of the OPV would be helped by being based nearer the patrol area. The base would also of course help patrols of the Gulf of Aden, Red Sea, and keeping open the Suez canal – a vital shipping lane even for China and Russia as well.

Trump’s original planning application for Balmedie north of Aberdeen included: Two 18-hole golf courses (a championship links course and a second course); a golf clubhouse, golf academy and ancillary buildings; a driving range and short game practice area; a resort hotel (450 rooms) with conference centre and spa; 36 ‘golf villas’; accommodation for 400 staff (all of the foregoing comprising ‘phase 1’); 950 holiday apartments in four blocks; up to 500 houses and community facilities. Only one golf course, a small club house and refurbished Menie estate house has been completed. Trump recently requested planning permission for a much reduced scope of build and this was passed by Aberdeenshire Council.

However, as part of a review of Aberdeenshire’s local development plan, the Scottish Government have said Trump must stick to the original plan which, along with the above, includes: ‘The development will need to be supported by a comprehensive travel plan and new or extended bus services must be provided. Beyond phases 1 and 2 a grade separated junction with the A90(T) will be required to be completed before any further development is permitted to be occupied. Access plans are necessary to safeguard public access. A design review process will be required and Architecture and Design Scotland or the Aberdeen City and Shire Design Review Panel may be asked to participate in this review process. Design briefs and a construction method statement are required.’

    i.e. it aint gonna happen.

The turnaround could never have been achieved by varying tax levels in a depressed economy (basically what we being expected to do).
Rather it was achieved by government injecting more money into the economy.

The only way we can have any impact on our deficit is by
    A controlling our export revenue
B having the ability to increase the amount of money in our economy.

    We can do neither.

” … anyone have the nerve to watch Theresa May’s Christmas message? I only managed a few seconds online. Truly truly scary.”

    Isn’t it just scary, Dan?

You have to wonder how a woman with such a poor education can become the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The woman actually seems to believes that Britain voted to leave the European Union by 52% to leave and 48% to remain.

Yet only the United Kingdom parts of Britain took part in the, laughably titled, “Brexit”, (Supposedly it is short for, “British Exit”, Referendum.

Mind you the very term, “BREXIT” seems to bear out that these people actually are so ignorant of the geography of Britain

Then the Prime Minister claims that Britain must unite after the vote. Either that or the congenital idiots of the BBC are misreporting her Christmas Message.

Now, as far as I know only the “United Kingdom” parts of Britain voted in the Referendum and the reason those parts are titled, “The United Kingdom”, is because these parts of Britain are, would you believe it, already united? Yet this ignorant woman seems to think that they are not.

Mind you at least one of the only two Kingdoms that comprise that, “United Kingdom”, may already have a majority of their voters eager to disunited the, “United Kingdom”.

However, they are, at the moment, still a bipartite union called, “The United Kingdom.”

The only other interpretation would be that the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is about to invade the Republic of Ireland and the three non-UK government Crown Protectorates.

I’m sure none of them wants to voluntarily become part of the United Kingdom or they would have done so long ago. In fact the Irish Republicans fought and died to get out of the United Kingdom.

So either Thereasa May is a dunce or the BBC are a whole corporate bunch of dunces or both. The alternative that Westminster will force the rest of Britain to become parts of, what is actually the parliament of the country of England, doesn’t bear thinking about.

Yet it must be true – It’s on the BBC.

“And so tonight I want to acknowledge that this policy of disengagement East of Suez was a mistake and in so far as we are now capable, and we are capable of a lot, we want to reverse that policy at least in this sense: that we recognise the strong historical attachment between Britain and the Gulf, and more importantly, we underscore the growing relevance and importance of that relationship in today’s uncertain and volatile world.”

Sounds like a reversal of policy to me.

Tolerance is indeed a virtue, but I draw the line when it comes to
fascists, and/or those who would see their fellow humans suffer, starve, be left out in the cold, have no clean water to drink, etc.

While we all want to embrace diversity, and few, if any on WoS reject diversity imo, we also have to draw the line somewhere.

‘Hallelulia, ( or however it is spelled)| indeed, for those who work daily to protect the most vulnerable, the sick, disabled, the oppressed, the tortured, the innocent, the most brave and honest among us.

I definitely draw the line at those who create hardship, poverty and promote hatred, and we all know who they are.

So, yes, let us pray to the spaghetti god or someone but no thanks to deliberately creating divide for self gain. That is all too prevalent and it has to stop.

Peace to all. Tolerance to tolerance, when life affirming, and when based on knowledge, oherwise we are all fucked.

I am beyond putting up with turning on my TV at breakfast and putting up with BBC TV from a different country which has nothing whatever to do with me, or my community or my country.
When we had BBC Scotland radio as our main source it actually was BBC Scotland radio.

While I’m ranting when are we getting our New Year back? When I was young Christmas was when we went to church for a service about charity and love and the kids got some presents. But we went to work and we got our newspapers and we got ready for the ridiculous very Scottish over celebration at New Year.

The town is a wasteland today and closed down. The huge commercialising of Christmas has left sections of our community broke and in debt for months. When I had a pub and then a hotel I opened on Christmas day. By mid afternoon folk want to go out (if only to avoid the royal bumcast). More importantly there is in our communities many people who have very few and very little and whose whole social life and interaction with the rest of the community is in the local hostelry. We were always mobbed.
It is time we gave a thought to what Christmas might better be.

I can recall working Christmas Day in my first job, over 50-years ago, then, gradually, the Ne’erday celebrations were side-tracked, we had to join in with England and celebrate Christmas – or the English idea of Christmas, which, let’s face it, owes a lot ot old Prince Albert and the House of Sax Coburg-Gotha.

Let’s hope, once we break free from the English yoke, we can reclaim some auld Scots customs, from the days when we were the last Barbarians in Europe.

Cut n pasted, Scottish Christmas night story and a good read. Posted on Facebook. First time in 400 years, the border was closed, to keep Scotland’s Stone of Destiny in England.

Jean Pierre Durand shared a link.

On Christmas Day 1950, four Scottish nationalists Ian Hamilton, Gavin Vernon, Kay Matheson and Alan Stuart removed the Stone of Scone from Westminster Abbey in London and took the Stone back to Scotland. The nationalists were members of the Scottish Covenant Association, a group that supported home rule (decentralization) for Scotland.

To understand the implications of the raid, one must understand the political landscape in the United Kingdom just after the end of the Second World War. The United Kingdom was a unified nation and even in an era of post-war austerity, devolution was not on the political agenda. At the time, the Scottish National Party had 0.7% of the vote, the Labour Party had withdrawn its commitment to devolution, and the Conservative Party was at the high point of its popularity in Scotland. The raid was completely unexpected and gave the cause of Scottish devolution and nationalism a brief sense of prominence in the public conscience throughout the United Kingdom and beyond.

The nationalists became notorious for the daring heist and in Scotland they achieved nigh-on hero status, while in contrast the English were somewhat bewildered. The heist and the nationalists became synonymous with the devolution and nationalist political movements in Scotland from 1950 onwards.

Over time the incident encouraged a belief in change, throwing open to scrutiny the Union, which had existed since 1707. For most Scots the incident was an inspirational event, both at the time and for generations to come. Long before the Stone was officially returned to Scotland in 1996 and the Scottish people voted for devolution in 1997, the removal of the Stone of Scone in 1950 contributed to those events.

The Stone of Scone, the ancient Stone upon which Scottish monarchs had been crowned, was taken from Scone near Perth, Scotland by King Edward I of England (Longshanks) in 1296 during the Scottish Wars of Independence as a spoil of war, kept in Westminster Abbey in London and fitted into King Edward’s Chair. Subsequent English and then British monarchs were crowned sitting upon the chair and Stone. At the time, the Stone was viewed as a symbol of Scottish nationhood; by removing the Stone to London, Edward I was declaring himself “King of the Scots”.

In 1950, Ian Hamilton, a student at the University of Glasgow, approached Gavin Vernon with a plan to remove the Stone of Scone from Westminster Abbey in London and return it to Scotland. The plan was funded by a Glasgow businessman, Robert Gray, who was a councillor on the Glasgow Corporation. Vernon agreed to participate in the plan along with Kay Matheson and Alan Stuart who were also
    students in Glasgow.

In December 1950, a few days before Christmas, the four students from Glasgow drove to London in two Ford Anglias, a journey which took them eighteen hours. On arrival in London they had a brief meeting at Lyons Corner House and decided to make an immediate attempt at removing the Stone from the Abbey. Later that day Ian Hamilton hid under a trolley in the Abbey, but was caught by a nightwatchman after the Abbey doors had been closed, briefly
    questioned, and then let go.

The following day Vernon and Stuart returned to Westminster Abbey and learned some information on the watchmen’s shifts. In the middle of that night, the three men entered a works yard and gained entrance into Poet’s Corner. Reaching the Chapel containing the tomb of Edward I and King Edward’s Chair, they pulled down the barrier. On removing the Stone from under the Chair, it crashed to the floor and broke into two piecesThe three men, using Hamilton’s coat, dragged the larger piece down the high altar steps, then Hamilton took the smaller piece to one of the cars waiting outside.
Ian Hamilton placed the small piece of Stone in the boot of the car and got into the passenger seat. As he did this, Kay Matheson noticed a policeman in the gaslight; Hamilton and Matheson immediately fell into a lovers’ clinch. The policeman stopped and the three proceeded to have a conversation even though it was 5 A.M. Having shared some jokes and a cigarette Matheson and Hamilton drove off to Victoria, Hamilton getting out on the way to walk back to the Abbey.

On his arrival there was no sign of Vernon and Stuart, so he proceeded to drag the large piece of stone to the car himself. As he was driving away he saw Vernon and Stuart walking towards him.
The stone was so heavy that the springs on the car were sagging, so Vernon, fearing the alarm had been raised, made his way to Rugby, Warwickshire. Hamilton and Stuart drove to Kent, hid the large piece of stone in a field and made their way back to Scotland. Matheson left her car, containing the small piece of the Stone, with a friend in the Midlands, and like Vernon made her way back to Scotland by train. On discovering that the Stone was missing, the authorities closed the border between Scotland and England for the first time in four hundred years.

A fortnight later Hamilton and some friends including John Jossely (English but Scottish nationalist) recovered the two pieces of stone and brought them to Glasgow. They hired a stonemason, Baillie Robert Gray, to mend the Stone. Gray placed a brass rod inside the Stone containing a piece of paper. To this day, nobody knows what was written on the piece of paper.

In April 1951 the police received a tip-off and the Stone was found on the site of the High Altar at Arbroath Abbey where in 1320 the assertion of Scottish nationhood was made in the Declaration of Arbroath.

Whit! I just posted the other day a quote from Voltaire that went like this: –

The Scottish Enlightenment was the conjunction of minds, ideas, and publications in Scotland during the second part of the 18th century but it extended several decades on either side of that period.

Contemporaries throughout the World claimed that Edinburgh was a “hotbed of genius.”

Voltaire, in 1762, wrote, “today it is from Scotland that we get rules of taste in all the arts, from epic poetry to gardening.”

He also wrote, “We look to Scotland for all our ideas of civilisation.”

Benjamin Franklin described the mood of Edinburgh in his Autobiography (1794):- “Persons of good Sense…seldom fall into [disputation], except Lawyers, University Men, and Men of all Sorts that have been bred at Edinburgh.”

When I was a schoolboy in Edinburgh, Scotland still led the World in medical science. A lead gained thanks to Burke & Hare : –

Burke and Hare were grave robbers and murders. There were 16 murders committed over ten months in 1828 in Edinburgh.

The killings were by William Burke and William Hare, who sold the corpses to Doctor Robert Knox for dissection at his anatomy lectures.

In the 1950s we had the greatest ever brain surgeon in Norman Dott and when the late King needed an lung cancer operation in 1951 my late mother was part of the team of the Edinburgh surgeon, Slessor.

Who was one of five Surgeons called into Buck House to perform the operation on the King. Mind you the King died in 1952, but these doctors were the World’s finest.

Merry Xmas Wingers. Sorry if this is o/t but felt this experience worth sharing. Recently spent some time working in the Shetlands. Beautiful, if wild environment, met many smart, intelligent, warm and welcoming people who are pretty hardy and tenacious and great sense of humour. Part of the reason I went there was because I was curious about the lack of overwhelming support for Independence in 2014 and even more curious about the reelection of Mr Carmichael and Mr Scott?

Well, quelle suprise……not one person I spoke to had heard if Wings Over Scotland….no-one I spoke to knew anything about the oil n gas discoveries at Claire Ridge..or that they were so substantial and important enough for Prime Minister David Cameron to pay a personal visit prior to the referendum. No-one had knowledge of Hurricane Energy and the Lancaster and Lincoln fields discoveries and, of course, no-one had heard if the McCrone Report!

I found the people I spoke with were interested and open to discussing these issues. They had no firm allegiance to the Lib Dems but had an affection for their SNP candidate but thought he was just “too old” and not in. Good health. In the absence of being informed of the political and strategic issues relating to Shetland, they voted for the same old personalities! Carmichael and Scott .

Yes Scotland Indyref2…..Shetlanders need to know they are an important and valued part of our country …getting them a decent ferry service would be a good start …..perhaps the next Wings night should be in Shetland?

    http://www.scotsman.com/heritage/people-places/is-the-stone-of-destiny-a-fake-1-4082595

The following quote is from this link:-
    http://www.scottishknightstemplar.org/faq.html

“There is a group of Scottish Templars who have “Bailey Gray’s” Fake Stone of Destiny that used to be in his Shop window. (Bailey Gray was the stonemason who hid, and repaired, the Westminister stone when it was stolen by Scottish Nationalists in the 1950s. Bailey used the fake in the shop window as a publicity stunt).

Once the Westminister Stone was recovered the fake dissappeared but re-appeared in Parliament Sq in Edinburgh in 1972. The Rev John Nimmo took ownership of the stone until his Dundee Lochee Church closed and then the stone was moved to a Scottish Knight Templar Church at Dull, Aberfeldy.

On the sale of this Church the fake stone was moved around the country and its current whereabouts are unknown. The Westminister stone was moved to Scotland in 1996 and by Historic Scotland’s own admittance, “The left foot wear on one side of the stone appears to reflect its use as a step in a cylindrical staircase!” Historians will tell you that the real stone of Scone was probably black in colour. This stone has never been found!”

    Brexit latest.

Trump aide reveals that they will use the insanity of Brexit to steal UK trade.

Donald Trump has always preached “Never give a sucker an even break” so he and his advisor Farage have really knocked it off.

Pity we did not all heed the very wise “Mad” Alex Salmond and get Scotland out of this madness and resume as an independent state.

dunx, Brian Doonthetoon, fascinating stuff. It is interesting that our neighbours felt such a symbolic need to actually have their royals sit on a stone from their Scotland region. BetterTogether, under billionaire’s backside.

After looting the abbeys of Coupar & Scone Edward I stole what was possibly the lid off the Scone abbot’s shiter, a block of sandstone of local origin.

I remember the mail being delivered on Christmas Day, I got a pressed tin 2 story garage (a merchant seaman in the street had brought it from Hong Kong but I thought it was from Santa) anyways on xmas morning was playing with it and the postman comes into the living room having had a half at every house he delivered mail too, tripped over the carpet, did a triple salchow followed by a somersault over the armchair I was playing behind and landed on and flattened my garage!!
Christmas was never the same again 🙂
